Wow. Admitting to the possibility of having to charge the bathroom door in the maximum security prison because there's a dude on the other side who's going to knife you if you don't... ...all the while with his pants down. That's some World of Darkness s**t right there.
"...Man, we're gonna ice some dude on the can. That's cold."

What can I say? They broke in to the wrong damn lavatory.
A fight in the bathroom is going to be seriously cool from a "cinematic" standpoint. Be prepared to face the possibility of a urinal curb-stomping. Robbie's not in the mood to play nice... or fair. He's a marginally competant fighter, but he's no Bruce Lee. I'm just hoping that my would-be attacker isn't actually some 6'10" Jamaican kickboxer. :(

Grab the dude's hair and just keep swinging his face at hard things, imo.

Taliesin,
Not to be overly critical, but if we are using the new World of Darkness rules, attack rolls and damage rolls are no longer separate. Melee attacks are STR + Weaponry + Equipment - Target's Defense. I'm assuming that, since he only had two dice to hit me with before, by doubling my Defense on the first round, I should have reduced him to a "chance die" which can only succeed on a roll of 10 and therefore the first shot would not have hit me at all. As for the second shot, multiple actions via splitting dice pools are no longer possible in nWoD without special Merits (for example, Crack Driver allows Robbie to make a Drive roll AND take another action - like firing a gun - at the same time).
I just want to make sure we'll all on the same page here with regards to the ruleset. Also, I still haven't heard a response from you regarding my XP adjustments from the previous page. Thanks!

Hi. Sorry about the three-day delay. Work is crazy, and I went away yesterday to a mountain village.
I have the nWoD books, and I have read them. This is the first game I am playing with them. My reasoning for this kid, however, is that I imagined him just jabbing the blade forward, to try to keep you at distance. It is not a tactical fight, but I wanted to keep the image. I did not see the multiple action rule. The rules serve story, and there is no reason why NPC's have to follow the same rules as PCs. The kid is pushing the point of a shiv forward twice. He is not much of a threat. About the chance dice. I forgot that he only hit on a 10. I need to read the books again. That is on the stack. Sorry about any confusion.

Just out of curiosity here, assuming that his sister's death is not an elaborate hoax, am I going to get an option to replace the dot of Ally that I spent on her? I'm totally fine if you want to "upgrade" one of Robbie's other address book contacts to "Ally" status (I'm thinking the prostitute whom he has a pseudo-romantic interest with might be a good candidate). If you've got other plans, no need to spoil things for me, I was just wondering.
Good point. I will provide an ally. I usually consider backgrounds as story points as soon as the first dice are rolled. They are malleable in play. Bad things happen. You can consider Carl Laughton as an ally, in the meantime. He is not as hard hit by her death as you are, but he is still hell-bent on getting you out of here.
EDIT: Also, just auditing my own character sheet, I realize that I improperly recorded my XP expenses. I recorded Wits 2 > 3 as 9xp when it should have been 12xp. I'm considering reducing Larceny to 2 (refunding 9xp), paying my 3xp deficit, and then spending the remaining 6xp on.... something. :) Would that be okay with you?EDIT #2: I've decided that I'd want to spend the 6xp on the third dot of the "Fleet of Foot" merit. Maybe Robbie performed well on the track team in high school?
Keep the three larceny, and get the third dot on the merit too. Consider it xp for the start of the story. The three larceny will be needed. Fleet of foot is yours for free.

Hi. Sorry about the three-day delay. Work is crazy, and I went away for the weekend to a mountain village.
No problems, I've been anticipating your return!
RE: The above - I apologize if I come across sounding indignant or rude. Such was not my intent. Part of the problem with "visible mechanics" is that it does tend to bring these sorts of complications with it. I just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page. I have no problems continuing forward with the way things have gone. Also, I mentioned at the bottom of the previous page in this thread that I made an error in my XP expenditures during character creation and brought up some "fixes" that need your attention. Thanks!
EDIT: Nevermind! I see you were updating as I typed this. Thanks!

Taliesin,
Do you have any manner of instant messaging client? I see by the posts that we're online simultaneously. We could get quite a lot accomplished if we coordinated via AIM or MSN Messenger, etc. while posting back and forth in rapid succession. If you don't have the time right now, I understand.
My AIM is zackthestguy@aol.com. My MSN is fatespinner@live.com.

Tal: Just testing the connection. I will copy and paste any gaming that happens here to the game thread, so that our eavesdroppers can follow the plot. I need to go and fetch my wife, so I will be AFK. I think chat will be good for finishing up the prison scene. Storyteller is less formulaic than D&D, and needs more fluid communication.
