Gadget~ |
What kind of weapons do they have?
If they are immediately hostile, Gadget would just attack. Otherwise, she would ready to attack if they take an offensive action.
Move Action
Gadget slinks into the corner of one of the buildings, taking out her longbow as she goes.
Standard Action
Gadget shoots at one of the thugs from around the corner with her longbow using a cold iron arrow. Targeting blue. Has 100 ft. range so should be in first range increment.
Longbow Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Longbow Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
GM Baerlie |
They have clubs and light crossbows, crossbows ready and immediately hostile.
Gadget reacts fastest and while she moves around a corner she readies her bow. An arrow flies towards the thug in the blue cape and hits.
The thug with the red hat releases a bolt at Calvin, but the bolt hits the floor in front of Calvin's feet.

Kevan rushes out to help Calvin. He holds his longspear out, ready to skewer any of the thugs who comes close. "You want something from us, come take it!"
Double move. Kevan threatens out to 10 feet with his longspear.

Korizon rages - and charges forward- pulling his sword as he does so - and swings at Blue thug rage swing: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 for damage: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (2, 2) + 10 = 14

"No, there's nothing creepy sounding about that at all. Is it over!?"
If not:
Gwen moves from around the corner and readies color spray if either the dog or the man (or both) moves to attack by coming around the north side of Calvin. Will DC 15

Keven kneels down and holds his handout to the dog. "Here boy! Come here. We can get you some food, and find you a more respectable master."
Handle Animal is trained only, but Kevan's not really trying to push him to do anything. Just trying to be friendly.
Gadget~ |
That was rather brutish. Gadget wants to search for any clues of why they might have attacked us.
Calvin "Cleaver of Skulls" Cark |
Calvin check the thug to see if one if them is still breathing. If one is he will try stabilize him. "Let ask why they attacked us."
Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Korizon |
"Why bother asking - it is our wealth or our talking that drives them. let us see where they have been and then we can know where to go. Korizon says, almost sounding intelligible.
Gadget~ |
I think exploring all avenues is probably the best method. Search first, then ask questions. The worst that can happen is they don't give us what we want.
GM Baerlie |
Kevan tries to be nice to the dog, but the animal defends its fallen master. Calvin tries to stabilize one of the men, but is not sucessful. Sooner or later the man stabilizes. although he's still unconscious
Gadget suggests to explore the avenues and indeed, Hera spots somebody who looks like the man who sold the relic to Baltwin. He comes out of a building and heads through an alleyway.
Gadget~ |

Gadget looks at Hera and chuckles a little. I mean metaphorically checking all avenues, but literally checking the avenues works as well. Wait...did I really just accidentally help us find someone?
GM Baerlie |
haha, the misinterpretation of a non-native-speaker :D
You head to the place where Hera saw the man. Unfortunately the man realizes that he's been identified and takes off at a dead sprint away from you. there is no way to somehow surprise him or anything, paizo wants us to test the Chase rules ;)
The man sprints through the streets, into a bathhouse, out the back door and to the grounds of the Chelish Ambassy. There he attempts to climb the wall.
The base speed is 30 feet. You start about 60 feet behind the man, the chase is over when you are within 30 feet (meaning on the same chase card), if you are able to move faster than 30 feet, you get a +2 bonus on the skill check

Gadget~ |
Seeing as Gadget can never make the Acrobatics with her armor on, she opts for Bluff. I have a feeling she won't be of much use here...one of the downsides of gnomedom. :p
Standard Action
Gadget tries to tell a fib to the guards.
Bluff (Slow Speed): 1d20 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (15) - 1 - 2 = 12
No progress
Gwendolyn the Strange -CORE- |
You need a wolf like my heavily armored gnome cavalier.
"Oh you do not want to run away from me!"
Gwendolyn tugs a scroll from her scroll case.
"Hera, try and slow him down we'll be right there!"
Gwendolyn the Strange -CORE- |
Gwen shoots her owl an reproachful look.
Hera flies off.
Gwendolyn completes the complicated magic held upon the scroll with the magical phrase "Nitrous Oxide!"
Sorry Gadget. It's self only. Maybe hitch a ride with Calvin? How much do you weigh in armor?
Gadget~ |
Huh. Never figured out her actual weight. Assuming average weight (35 lbs.), she would be 64 lbs. total. Also, riding dogs are expensive, and she'll have a wizard level next level. Brand new characters are rough. Doesn't bother me, just wanted to make sure everyone knew she would be far from the best character in this situation. :p
Hera the Owl |
Hera attempts to leisurely fly through window and past the guards.
Acrobatics(?) check (speedy, flight): 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 2 + 10 = 22 Hera really doesn't 'jump' she flies after all. If she needs to actually 'jump' she has a -8 penalty on the roll. If she can just make a Fly check she gets a +4 bonus to the roll.
Bluff (fly casual, speedy, flight (over their heads)): 1d20 - 2 + 2 + 10 ⇒ (13) - 2 + 2 + 10 = 23
Gwendolyn the Strange -CORE- |
Have to retrieve it first from the case with a move action.
Korizon |
Picks up Gadget (move action) and tries to jump through the windowacrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 and when he fails, lets her go.
"Darn, you are heavier that you look"
gadget's player knows how horrible all my characters are at chases - just recently he got bit for a T-Rex because he couldn't roll for chases 37 points of damage at 4th level
Kevan Pryce |
Yikes, Kevan isn't built for this...
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
The ale priest races after Hera and leaps towards the window. In a bit of drunken luck, he manages to use his spear to heave himself higher and just clears the window.
Calvin "Cleaver of Skulls" Cark |
Calvin tries to follows his cleric friend thru the window but his massive sword gets caught on the window sill.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Gadget~ |
Giovanni?
GM Baerlie |
While Hera flies off and past Barnel Gadget tries to get past the guards, but pathetically steps on one of their feet. Gwen activates a scroll. Korizon picks up Gadget and tries to get through the window with her on the back, but his clothes get stuck on the hinges and he can't move on. Also Calvin somehow stumbles near the window, his sword gets cought.
Giovanni attempts to move out of the window, successfully gets past it and tries to dodge the bathers in the sippery mezzanine, but he falls and lands in front of a bather seeing he has nothing under his bathrobe.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Reflex: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Barnel moves on as fast as he can, trying to get past shoppers and merchants by squeezing between them or shouting at them to make them move out of the way.
Escape Artist: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
