Kevan Pryce |
Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Kevan sees Giovanni slip as he runs past the the bathers in the mezzanine. The priest looks over and spots the ivy lined wall leading up. He races to it and leaps upward, pulling himself up the vines. He reaches the top of the wall and looks for Barnel. "Up here!"
Calvin "Cleaver of Skulls" Cark |
Calvin adjust his sword and tries to jump thru the window again.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Korizon |
Korizan appears to concentrate a moment (but actually his mind drifted to what he would have for dinner) and then tries to jump through the window again.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Unfortunately that's not the case.
So it's a standard action for the obstacle check and move action to move through a card.
Hera the Owl |
While Hera flies off and past Barnel....
?
"How?"
Don't judge me. It still has the same three letters. Cope.

Full-round action.
Hera expertly threads the tea party needle.
diplomacy (flying, high-speed): 1d20 - 2 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (16) - 2 + 10 + 2 = 26
"Whooo!"
climb (flying, high-speed): 1d20 + 3 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 10 + 2 = 25
GM Baerlie |
Right. I think the standard chase pictures the obstacles 30 feet apart, so you need you move action to go from one to another.
That means that my group handled the chases incorreclty all the time :D Sorry for that and thanks for the clarification XD
The second check for Hera is a CMB, not climb but with the bonus for speed she should overcome this second check too I think. The owl would get to the card "Obstructive Hay Wagon", but I assume she tries to stop Barnel from getting away?
Hera catches Barnel in the crowded market. He's lying on the floor, because he stumbled over a watermelon which rolled across the market square. Hera is able to slow down the man until you finally arrive.
"What do you want? Who sent you? Let me go!" Barnel asks.
Kevan Pryce |
Kevan arrives, huffing and puffing from the run. He levels his spear at Barnel. "Good work, Hera."
He looks at the man, still sprawled on the ground. "We know you're connected to these murders. Tell us who is behind them, and perhaps we'll go chase them instead."

Calvin "Cleaver of Skulls" Cark |
Calvin comes up to the man grabs him by the collar and shows him the slip of paper he found on the discarded cloaks near the bakery. "So who did you meet or are going to meet at the Pitveiw Pub!"
Kevan Pryce |
Kevan squints at the man. "Then you'd better tell us what you do know, else the Graycloaks are likely to pin it all on you. Let's start with the Pub," he nods to Calvin, "then you can tell us where you get the relics."
GM Baerlie |
"My boss is one of the Graycloaks! I met one of my boss' middleman to receive new instructions. I was asked to put out inquiries for potential clients interested in something big and expensive that would need to be moved soon. I've never seen my boss' face myself, I swear! I pick up the relics on the north side of the Ascendant Court, in a warehouse near the pub." Barnel answers.
Gadget~ |
Warehouse in the Ascendant Court, hrm?
Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Calvin "Cleaver of Skulls" Cark |
"The warehouse! Tell us more about it! What does it look like and how can we find it? Better yet take us there!" Calvin scowls at the man.
Kevan Pryce |
Kevan looks skeptical. "You've never met your boss? Who is it supposed to be?" He shakes his head. "I bet whoever you think it is isn't really who's behind it. You're getting played, pal. They're going slip off into the night and you're going to be the only one who's left. We caught you, didn't we?"
Calvin "Cleaver of Skulls" Cark |
Calvin draws his dagger putting it in his teeth. As he moves to climb up to the roof.
Climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Calvin "Cleaver of Skulls" Cark |
Calvin climbs back down. "Nothing! They disappeared with out a trace. I think our only lead is the warehouse." The turns to the others. "Where is this warehouse? I do not know this city."
Hera the Owl |
I think we can make this short as there is nothing to see :)
You climb up to the roof where you saw the gray-cloaked person, but when you reach the spot there is nobody there. Also, when you search the area you don't find any clues.
Perception (Whoo?): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
GM Baerlie |
Hera flies above the roof and streets around and has a look at the people, but the grey-cloaked person disappeared.
and it's not in the scope of this scenario to follow him/her, sorry
While you look around, looking for the killer a half-orc approaches you and hands you a letter. The letter is a summons from Grandmaster Torch to meet him at the baths in the Pleasure Salon of Calistria. The Grandmaster has concocted a scheme with the Decemvirate’s approval and wants to meet with you to explain the grand scheme.
Gadget~ |
I concur, Kevan. If Torch has information, it's probably worth checking out. If anything, he is great at collecting information...
Calvin "Cleaver of Skulls" Cark |
"Yes, lets go see this Grandmaster Torch."
GM Baerlie |
Kevan reads the letter of authentication and it describes the pen inside the pen case and where it is from. It's stolen by House Arionne from the Chelish crown.
You move on to visit GM Torch in the bathhouse. A burly half-orc guard stands near the entrance. Grandmaster Torch reclines in one of the numerous small pools that make up the sauna, and steam fills the air. An attendant is rubbing a salve on Torch’s burn-ravaged face, but quickly gets up and leaves when Grandmaster Torch gives a silent gesture.
"I have news from the Decemvirate and perhaps some assistance for you, but first I would like to hear what your progress is." Torch says.
Gwendolyn the Strange -CORE- |
"Sure." Gwen says suddenly noting what an interesting ceiling the room has.
Calvin "Cleaver of Skulls" Cark |
Calvin steps forward seeing everyone else is scared to. "We have interrogated the three witnesses, gained a few clues to the identity of the attacker and have just questioned a fence that was selling the stolen items when the man was murdered right in front of us. We gave chase but the attacker has disappeared." He stands with his arms crossed, stance firm and stares at GM Torch.
Kevan Pryce |
Kevan nods. "That's right. It seems whoever is behind this is killing people with poisoned arrows and pretending to be a Greycloak. We have a lead on a warehouse though. We were headed there when you summoned us."
"What's this news from the Grand Lodge?"
GM Baerlie |
"Good to know that you make some progress in this case. Kreighton has discovered another relic, and he claims this could be the most important one yet. Supposedly, this keg was scavenged from the ashes of the original Cayden’s Hall and is the last keg Cayden Cailean drank from before he took the Test of the Starstone. After selling it to our relic dealer, the tavern keeper threw a huge celebration and bragged openly about how the Pathfinders were funding her retirement. By now, we can assume that we have piqued the interest of every would-be relic thief in Absalom."
"While I am loathe to put you in harm’s way, this does present a unique opportunity. Should you accept responsibility for moving the keg from the pick-up location to the Grand Lodge, you will undoubtedly be the target of the relic thief we’re looking for. If you properly prepare yourselves, you might be able to reverse the ambush and catch the bandit before he makes off with the relic, or follow the thief afterward to find out where he’s been hiding. Either way, you’ll want to make sure not to kill the suspect, since whoever is behind this won’t be much use to you dead. Tracking down the culprit’s main site of operations is the most important thing right now — after that, you should search for as much incriminating evidence as possible."
"It’s a huge gamble — which somehow seems appropriate when a relic of Cayden Cailean is on the line. This isn’t the sort of thing I would normally ask a Pathfinder to do, but we’ve already lost one courier and another was badly injured. I’d like this ordeal to finally be over with, and with your help, we can make that happen. Do you agree to this plan?"
Calvin "Cleaver of Skulls" Cark |
Calvin frowns but nods acceptance to the man.
While on the way to the pickup Calvin will purchase a Anti-Toxin for 50 gp. If we are going to be shot with poison arrow I want to be ready with a cure.
Gadget~ |
Hrm... this does seem like the best way to get to the thieves directly. We can do this for you.
Kevan Pryce |
"The last keg, the Drunken Hero drank from?!" Kevan is astounded. "It would be an honor to escort such a relic. I would be happy just to view it. You don't suppose it still has ale do you?"

Cayden’s Last Keg is 3 feet in diameter and 4 feet tall, and weighs 75 pounds. The relic merchant has thoughtfully provided a small wagon pulled by a donkey to transport it. The keg has old char marks on it as if it had been in a fire, and it still sloshes with the remnants of hops and ale. The innkeeper kept it in active service (as Cayden would prefer), and it has been refilled innumerable times since it was first put into use. Moving around with the keg on a wagon (or carrying it) is a slow process.
you can carry the keg instead, but it is an awkward burden, requiring both arms to hold, and a character is flat-footed so long as he carries it.
You have made your way through most of the Ascendant Court with your keg in tow when you reach a part of the main street where a small parade for some lesser-known god blocks the boulevard ahead. Graycloaks prevent you from entering the main street and a small crowd of revelers approaches from behind, passing by uneventfully. The only way around the parade is through a narrow alley. Luck is not on your side today, a wagon loaded with over a dozen chicken cages has toppled onto its side ahead, and a farmer and a local vendor are arguing loudly over whose fault it was rather than clearing the alley. You spot two individuals hiding behind buildings, attempting to ambush you.

Double Move Action
Gadget heads forward, pulling out her bow as she goes. With her incredibly slow speed...
Gwendolyn the Strange -CORE- |
Before we leave the pick up location Gwendolyn cast mage armor on Hera (AC 20) and--well, everyone else has pretty good AC. Gadget did you want it so you can remove your armor and move faster and still have an AC of 18ish? Otherwise depending on people's speed and armor-based AC she probably uses it on herself.
Hera the Owl |
Hera scouts ahead sending back mental Emojis to Gwendolyn.
