Hey gang, I'll be posting for Hru for the next weekish. Tarren, do my eyes deceive me, or are you in need of others for the spires thread? Glad to play with you cats.

Welcome! Not sure where the spires are going ... we seem to be wrapping it up. Let's discuss that though.

Shall we generate a set of three charges? (Charge attack roll, damage if hit roll, ride check, handle animal, etc?)

Yes, but please declare before your roll if you are going to crouch defensively, aim for helm, etc.

Male Human Fighter (2)

Kornelius uses a horse from a caravan. Kornelius was a caravan guard, as you know, so he knows lots of warhorses. He will use a very fierce looking horse, named 'Sting' which seems rather close to Kornelius, who was (and still is) considering adopting him. After all, there have been many complaints about 'Sting' disobeying his real owner and other guards.

"Good luck, Sir Manfred. May the best contestant win."

Kornelius' attacks:

Spoiler:

Kornelius chose to tighten the reins as he was pretty sure Manfred would hit him each time.1d20+8=14, 2d8+8=17, 1d20+13=25, 1d20+8=25, 2d8+8=12, 1d20+13=21, 1d20+8=25, 2d8+8=16, 1d20+13=24

Dice be good!

Since the last tournament, the guards have made some effort to improve the conditions of the stretch of road where the fight can take place. Wooden swords and lances have been prepared and benches line the road at a safe distance. By no means does this have the look of the lists of Manfred's youth, but it is beginning to look like Manfred has made a permanent mark on this small Keep in the Cinderlands.

Male Human Cavalier L1-- AC 18-(T10-F18) | hp 13/13| F4, R0, W2 | Init+0 | Percep +0 | Status: OK

Sir Manfred mounts an eager Trouble (who praces a little for the crowd), salutes Sir Kornelius and then Lords Kerrigan and Klyndak, replies "and to you as well Sir Kornelius", grins a brilliant smile as he lowers his visor, couches his lance and charges at the signal...

Kornelius is knocked off his horse in the first round, not due to a lack of skill on his part but entirely because Manfred's attack was astounding. The crowd of gathered guards gasps at Sir Manfred's prowess.

Kornelius manages to avoid hurting himself too badly when he falls but he staggers and slips to the ground after sliding from his horse.

Kornelius takes a breather.

Anyone else want to joust Sir Manfred?

"Ridin' a 'orse and pluggin' away wit' sticks isn't exactly the dwarvish mode o' battle," I say when offered a chance at jousting, turning down the offer.

Hru?

Sorry yos... I had 5 new admissions over the weekend and have been doing vancomycin calculations all day since Saturday.

"Hoo hoo, Gorum prefers it if I keep my battles to the death." Hru smiles to himself for a moment. "And I've got more sense than to get on a horse against the knight..."

As the thread is wrapping up ...

Lord Kerrigan once again extends an invitation to Sir Manfred to remain at the keep and train guards in the practice of mounted combat. He has never had a calvary officer under his command and feels that Manfred could be a valuable addition.

Eopp, Dofan, and Loeb vow to continue delivering messages back and forth, particularly now that the road is cleared. The steady work and responsibilty seems to agree with them.

Kerrigan wishes the heroes well and promises assistance as an ally should they ever require it.

The leatherworker and his family ask permission to move to the spires, the wife owing her life to Lord Orlan and the husband wanting a quieter position in his retirement.

Not availing himself to all of the divine healing available, Quarrel was never fully recovered from his fall. He walks with a limp for the rest of his life but proudly tells the tale of how he was injured while allied with the 'beetle-rajahs'. He settles in the caves near the bridge and hobbles deeper into the Mindspins on scouting missions than the Kannonfodders dare.

The Kannonfodder clan continues to grow but, thankfully, saner dwarves also follow.

Male Human Cavalier L1-- AC 18-(T10-F18) | hp 13/13| F4, R0, W2 | Init+0 | Percep +0 | Status: OK

Sir Manfred accepts the new position with humility.
He also creates a shrine to Iomedae for the keep.

Fighter (Shield) 3 / Rogue 4

Ovirid accompanies the dwarves to the spires, putting his energy into protecting the king and maintaining traps for those areas where guards cannot be stationed.

Once the nature of his new shield is deduced, he takes it upon himself to shield the king where possible to reduce the chance of an arrow or similar missile striking the monarch. "Ah'm thinkin' if'n Ah can be fer takin' th' first arrow fer th' King, 'e can be fer reducing 'is assassin t' ashes afore there be a second."

Kerrigan's mischievous sense of humour shows through immediately. The first people Kerrigan assigns to be trained under the saintly Manfred are the reformed criminals Eopp, Dofan, and Loeb.

Eventually, Klyndak is able to identify the command word for the item. The text on the back was not the command word. It turned out to read, "If you can read this, you're on the right side."

LOL! Is this a genuine Kannonfodder product?

Nah, I'm just recycling my jokes.

I recognized it - that's why I figured it was a KannonFodder Original. Besides, I'm all for recycling.

Ovirid, Manfred, Klyndak, Hru, Orlan, Others? Are you up for getting into either the 'Entombed with the Pharoahs' or 'The Last Baron'? I'm saving first seats for those who have posted regularly in one of my PbPs.

I'm interested!

Which one?

I would follow my lord Klyndak, but we lost Kelborn, without the Last seen party we're undermanned already...even if Orlan is with us. I'm easy, wherever a mighty cleric of Gorum is needed (are we using the same PC's or going all new?

To Battle!!

I'm game for either - I'm not very familiar with either and haven't played them, so I'm indifferent.

These characters could go into 'Last Baron'. If you wanted 'Pharoah' you'd have to create 7th level characters. I'm mixing in different groups of PbP players, some with new characters and some with old.

I wouldn't mind playing in the Last Baron. But I thank I would want a new character. Maybe a freedom loving rogue.

I like the idea of getting more mileage out of ol' Ovirid. If we do the 'Pharaoh' route, I might just upgrade him to 7th-level, anyway. Either way, I'm good.

Male Human

I am in for either one!

I've started a thread for organizing the parties for the two PbPs I'm starting. Some players from my 'I Swallowed a Bug' PbP are interested in joining one of these. Some may bring new characters or update other characters. Jump in there and express your interest and character concepts.
