"In the comming weeks, new releases will contain even more parts of the game, covering all the standard classes, spells, magic items, and everything else you need to have a complete campaign"
OK heres my question. How will this be done? Will there be a new free PDF called "Alpha Playtest part 2", or will the Alpha Playtest just be upgraded to have more pages?
Im just asking because I already printed the whole thing and put it in a nice binder to carry around and read on the train :)
Also a slight mistake I want to point out. On Table 5-3: Altered Skills you didnt mention that Tumble is now Acrobatics.

I would like to know more about this as well.

When Alpha Release 2 comes out, it will replace the current file in My Downloads, and we'll send you an e-mail letting you know it's available. (This will be true of all Alphas and the Beta.)
It's not an addendum, it's a replacement. This is because—unless Jason has changed his thoughts on the matter since I last talked to him about it—it will incorporate changes to material in Alpha release 1 as well as adding all-new material.
We don't have a firm timeline, but I'd anticipate releases being close to a month apart.

I don't know if I like replacing the old documents. Its kind of nice having the old stuff along with the new stuff. You all might make some changes, but more people might prefer the options found within an earlier iteration. If we don't have the earlier copy then it might be more difficult to access that material.

I'm saving mine as "Pathfinder RPG - Alpha Release 1", "Pathfinder RPG - Alpha Release 2", etc. I'm curious to see how this changes over time, especially between now and Beta.

When Release 2 comes out, would it be possible for changes to previous rules, or new rules, be identified in some manner. Perhaps a change to a rule that was previously included in Release 1 would have a blue font, whereas a brand new rule (class, spell feat etc) will have a shadowed heading or some other identifying mark.
This will make it easier (and faster) to incorporate new material into ongoing playtest groups.

a months gonna be a long time i got players wanting to convert there classes lol.
This is a Alpha test of a game that is to be released in August 2009. Most game companies don't allow this level of customer interaction. Show some patience, and count your blessings that you are a part of this. If this was WOTC you wouldn't even know this was going on.

Indeed something to differentiate the new/altered rules would be great!
Also, sidebar comments on why changes were made would be an excellent addition too!And more exclamation points!!!
Or not!

Please no side bars on why something was changed. I like others want to print these out and don't want to waste ink on design notes that don't help me play around with these rules.
If there's time to write design notes, then there's no reason they can't just be posted in the blog, in a new design notes blog, or in an official thread on the forums.

I, for one, agree with this sentiment. My suggestion would be for the various sections (such as Races, Classes, and etc.) be seperated in such a way that a reprinting anything new would involve only those pages. For example, if Fighter is on a seperate set of pages than Cleric, and changes are done on Fighter, I won't have to reprint the whole document to inlude just what was changed.

I want to dissagree here. I dont want design notes in in final hardcover. But I would have liked even more of them in the Alpha actually. I like to know why your making the changes you are making.

When I release new versions of my game, I put new text in dark blue. Something like that would be great. And please, please, please keep the sidebars. Once you release the book "for realz," you can take them out of you want to, but until then, they're a vital part of using the new system. For that matter, if you're releasing this stuff for free right now, why not a text-only SRD version of Alpha, for those, like me, who don't want to print the whole document as is. I mean, it's pretty, but it was not designed to be printed at home.

I really enjoy the little side notes, and the variants (like how to do hit points for first level characters, and the whole "choose your own" advancement scheme) in the book. Things that give us insight into the designer's thought process are enlightening.
Thanks,

Please, no markers for what's changed and what hasn't. It'll make the Alpha 2 document nigh-on unreadable for those of us who start from scratch with Alpha 2.
But by all means get someone techy to diff the files and have that as a separate download.
I'd like to keep design notes, but a separate doc would work just as well as sidebars.
