Shariv the Skewer |
Shariv darts forward, retrieving his throwing spike from the downed goblin. He whirls around, his razor finds its mark, and a gout of blood spurts from the nearest raptor's neck.
Attack: 19 + 8 = 27 (within crit range), confirm: 12 + 8 = 20 (crit); 2d4 + 2 = 9 damage
DM |
The northern raptor turns from Berekiah to attack the latest foe to injure it, Shariv.
Shariv tumbles backwards to avoid the raking talons and vicious bite, but still is slashed twice by the raptor's claws.
Shariv takes 28 pts of damage
Adaro's turn
Adaro Omirra |
Will act on the last turn of that initiative and cast magic missle (13 damage no save SR check 18 if they have any) at the raptor closest too the door if I can manage to see through the melee
Adaro mutters an incantation and 4 steaking bolts of light arc between the doorway and burst into the raptor.
Melani Starsmite |
"Rauno, I shall tend your eyes after. Have faith in Sarenrae."
Melani grips her holy symbol and calls on her Goddess. White light flashes from its wings and pierces all her friends. Their terrible wounds begin to heal - albeit slowly.
Fast healing 3 for all PC's within 60ft for 3 rounds by burning one of my turning attempts. I will suggest that the effect starts at the end of the turn?.
SRD Document - Fast Healing
A creature with fast healing may add its fast healing value to Fortitude saves made to become stable when dying. A dying vampire spawn, for example, gets a +2 bonus on its Fortitude saves to become stable.
Rauno |
Rauno casts a quick, side-long glance at Melani, raises an eyebrow, then refocuses his attention on the raptor. Stepping back to avoid the beast's claws, he again levels his bow, this time aiming all three arrows at the scaly creature
Rapid Shot again (Attack rolls 23, 27, and 11, damage 8, 8, and 11).
Attack roll, attack damage (1d20+12=23, 1d8+5=8, 1d20+12=27, 1d8+5=8, 1d20+7=11, 1d8+5=11)
Berekiah |
Assuming the Raptor is still within reach, Berekiah will attempt to trip the foul beast.
Swinging his chain at the beast, Berekiah hits touch AC 27, and follows it up with Trip Attempt of 12.
On the off chance that that succeeds, he will take his bonus attack, hitting AC 22, for 13 Damage
(Likely) Seeing the beast still on it's feet, he will again try to sweep it to the ground, hitting touch AC 19, and follow it up with a Trip Attempt of 28. That's better, I assume it is now tripped? Sweeping the beast to the ground, Berekiah unloads on the now prone animal, hitting AC 13, for 13 Damage, and his final attack hits AC 16 for 12 Damage.
DM |
Rauno fires off a trio of arrows in quick succession as he moves backwards out of range of the southern raptor's slashing claws. One arrow goes wide over the lunging dinosaur's head, while another deflects off its scaled hide. The third arrow does find a weakspot in the raptor's scaly underbelly, and buries itself to the fletching.
Berekiah twirls and lashes out with his spiked chain while in mortal combat with the northern raptor. While he is unable to land a solid blow on the agile beast, he is able to drop it prone after a strike to its right leg. You did trip it, but didn't roll high enough to hit it with the additional attacks
DM |
Once I find my bow I'm going to start blindly shooting in the direction of noise that sounds like a raptor. It should be nearby. Will I have found it by my next initiative? What kind of penalty will I incur.
Xer: You can find your bow with a move action (I'm assuming its relatively close in front of your, unless you dramatically threw it into the air when you were blinded) so you can get off a shot this round.
Blinded
The character cannot see. He takes a -2 penalty to Armor Class, loses his Dexterity bonus to AC (if any), moves at half speed, and takes a -4 penalty on Search checks and on most Strength- and Dexterity-based skill checks. All checks and activities that rely on vision (such as reading and Spot checks) automatically fail. All opponents are considered to have total concealment (50% miss chance) to the blinded character. Characters who remain blinded for a long time grow accustomed to these drawbacks and can overcome some of them.
If you can make a listen 10 check, you can determine the square where the raptor is, as its only 10' away from you. However, it will have total concealment against you.
Xer Androssi |
Yeah, I just dropped it. No theatrics.
I finally find my bow and nock an arrow as quickly as I can considering my circumstances. I kneel on the floor, lisening for the sounds of one of the raptor things. I hear it and smile as I let the arrow loose, saying "Ruano I hope that isn't you."
Listen 15
Attack 20, not natural
Damage 17
Miss chance (50% I think) 39
DM |
Xer's arrow flies wide of the mark, but luckily doesnt' hit one of his comrades. Didn't get a high enough attack role
The Southern Raptor roars in fury and darts forward to attack Rauno, who continues to pelt it with arrows. The raptor's movements are thrown off by the arrows in its hide, and it only lands a solid blow with one claw.
Rauno takes 14 pts of damage
Melani gets an AoO from the Raptor's movement if she has a weapon ready
Adaro's turn
Melani Starsmite |
She is a lover and a healer. Doesn't take the AoO (Plus Melani presently has a shield and spellhand readied).

Adaro Omirra |
Attacks Southern Raptor with a Fiery Burst Reflex DC 19 15 damage, should hit both rider and raptor
Still peering from the doorway past everyone a quick incantation and out arcs a ball of fire and explodes on impact against the raptor.
Oh I am at 1 initiative now as I delayed till the end of the round last time so am now last in the order

The Northern Raptor struggles to rise from its precarious prone position before Berekiah and Shariv, but Berekiah viciously beats it down with his spiked chain.
Berekiah used the AoO to trip and then hit for 13 with the free attack from Improved Trip
Shariv, your attack missed, but you do get an AoO from the prone raptor trying to rise. Don't forget to add the +4 bonus for melee vs a prone target
The Southern Lancer swears in Abyssal as he touches his wand to the neck of his saurian mount. Light flares from the tip of the wand, and some of the raptor's wounds start to close, although it is still heavily bleeding and scorched from Rauno's arrows and Adaro's magic.
Melani's turn
Melani Starsmite |
If Melani can five foot step so that she will not suffer an AoO she will convert a healing spell (consecrate, 2d8+4+7=24 on the nearest wounded good guy. If not she will delay.
Melani looks at the ferocious monsters, nervous at their claws and teeth. But ready to help her companions.

Melani can 5' step to the north and get the healing spell off on Rauno.
Xer's turn, then Rauno, then Berekiah
Shariv the Skewer |
Shariv, your attack missed, but you do get an AoO from the prone raptor trying to rise. Don't forget to add the +4 bonus for melee vs a prone target
The fighter's second swing at the prone raptor digs deep, releasing a spray of arterial blood.
Attack: 14 + 8 + 4 = 26; damage: 1d4 + 2 = 5
Berekiah |
The Northern Raptor struggles to rise from its precarious prone position before Berekiah and Shariv, but Berekiah viciously beats it down with his spiked chain.
Berekiah used the AoO to trip and then hit for 13 with the free attack from Improved Trip
Although standing from prone does provoke an AoO, according to RAW, the AoO happens before he stands, so I can't actually trip the raptor. Of course, if you want to rule differently, I'm obviously fine with your ruling, but thought I would let you know what the rules say should happen.
Rauno |
Rauno nods his head at Melani, then steps back from the raptor to fire once more. Seeing the goblin again using a wand, he aims his first shot at disarming it again before firing the other two at the raptor.
Rapid Shot, with first being Ranged Disarm. Note that the last attack roll should be at +7 instead of +12 (Attacks 25, 18, and 26; Damage NA (6), 10, and 13)
Attack and Damage (1d20+12=25, 1d8+5=6, 1d20+12=18, 1d8+5=10, 1d20+12=31, 1d8+5=13)

Oh, good point. Its been a while since I've played a trip-happy character, and I forgot where the AoO came into the sequence.
Well, we'll stick with the raptor being prone, since I already ruled that, but we'll go with the correct SRD ruling in the future.
Berekiah |

OK, in that case, Berekiah will unload with a full attach on the prone raptor at his feat. (He would normally power attack, but since his attacks missed the foul beast last round, he wants to make sure he hits this time.)
1st Attack (1d20+11=24), Damage (2d4+8=16)
Second Attack (1d20+11=22), Damage (2d4+8=13)
Third Attack (1d20+6=12)
I forgot to include the +4 for being prone in the first 2 attacks, so they should hit. The third attack misses wildly.
That was a much easier round to adjudicate my actions, I hope all the critters stay prone!

Sorry for the lack of posting recently, I've been pretty busy with work. But everything should be back to normal now
Quick Summary:
Melani moved and healed Rauno.
Rauno took 3 shots, one of which hit the Southern Raptor, the other knocked a wand out the Southern Lancer's hand. (Yes, thats twice he has succesfully used ranged disarm this fight)
Berekiah and Shariv are attacking the Northern Raptor in melee. And its still prone.
Xer took a blind (literally) shot and manage to hit the Northern Raptor with a glancing blow.
---
The Southern Raptor, heavily bleeding with several arrows sticking out of its hide, lunges at Rauno in a desperate attempt to slay its assailant and stop the barrage of arrows.
And it hit, landing talons first on our beleagured archer. You take 17 points of damage. Good thing Melani healed you and is still standing there beside you ;-)
---
Adaro's turn, then everyone gets +3 HP from Fast Healing (Thanks to Melani) as it rolls back to Shariv at the top of the initiative order.
Shariv the Skewer |
With both of his tradmark 'skewers' back in his hands, he flicks his fingers once more, aiming for both raptors simultanously. After both missiles find their mark, Shariv's razor drops out of his sleeve and back into his hand.
Doubletoss, Attack 1: 15 + 10 = 25; Attack 2: 9 + 10 = 19. Damage: 1d6 + 2 = 6 / 1d6 + 2 = 5
DM |
Both of Shariv's tosses hit the mark, with the southern raptor now seeming even more unsteady after taking another hit.
Roaring in saurian rage, the northern raptor whirls and attempts to eviscerate Berekiah through his dwarven mail. Talons, claw, claw for 36 points of damage
Melani, Xer, Rauno and Berekiah are up next. Both raptors are looking pretty beat up at this point.

"Aww!!" Berekiah roar in pain as the Raptor drops him to 11 hitpoints.
I assume (since it was a full attack and I didn't get an AoO, it attacked from prone?

Looks back over thread....crap, in my notes with the running HP totals and status effects, I must have erased his prone status when I last updated the HP totals.
You do indeed get an AoO, and so does Shariv, from its standing from prone.
And because standing from prone is a move-action... he only gets 1 attack off. So its a claw for 13, rather than the total I quoted earlier. Unless the AoOs finish it off, which is a possibility if you roll well
My apologies on the error
