Whatever you do... DON'T LIE TO HER! Especially if you really do want to keep hanging out with her. Think about it, if this was happening the other way around, would you want to be lied to?
You can tell her, you're "that" way with someone else already & don't feel "that" way about her but you'd still like to be friends.
And yes, dating ain't easy but it tends to lead to some great things.

Be aware that I am not the average 20 something girl but this is what I've learned.
Tell the truth, tactfully. If there is someone else, and the lady your not into is in your social circle, then let her know gently that you met someone else. She's gonna find out eventually, so just be up front about it. It'll hurt her feelings more if she feels like she's been lied to or let one than if you tell her the truth.
You can use the 'let's just be friends' line if you want, but be aware that most women think this is just bullshit. If you do want to still be friends with her, be sure to maintain the friendship so that she knows your not a douche.
Honesty and tact go a long long way when dealing with women. For some, the tact is the most important part becuase if you don't say things right, then they think your a jerk blah blah blah. It's a matter of letting her know that she's still a great person, just not the person you want to be with. For others, as long as you are a man enough to say what's up and how you're going to deal with it, then they don't mind as much. Just don't lead her on.
Man, my life is great, but weird; mostly my own doing; very stange days lately.
Tact is not one of my better things; I tend to be a bit intense and am afraid of stepping on anyones feelings since i at least recognise that other people have them. I dont lie though and dont think I am leading anyone on; I couldnt come right out and say the; I wanna do other things bit, but I did use the friend word and date other people thing several times, but they still wanna hang out so hope that is cool and they dont have the wrong idea.

I've been listening to the Henry Rollins: Live at McCabe's CD pretty much nonstop for the past day, and I noticed something. On the CD, Henry remarked that his father had told him:

One of our cats does that. She kills mice and then eats all of them except for the heads which she leaves staring up at you on the floor in placs that you're likley to step in the early morning.
We had a cat that did that, except that he would leave one of the internal organs. Ate everything. Tail, head, everything but that one spleen or whatever it was.
