Liberty's Edge

That sucks.
Man, that bums me out.
He was so young.

"Let's all drink to the death of a clown!"

err...

Crocodile Hunter...

What really sucks is that half the world knew about his death before his wife and family. :(

RIP Steve.

just read about this.....really sucks he made a lot of people laugh.....

I feel bad for his kids who will have to live without their father....makes you really want to make the time with your kids counts

Daft as the man could be, going around poking and prodding at the unsuspecting animals in their natural habitats, his death is a terrible thing. He was the only rock star voice of conservation out there and now, with his passing, people can go back to feeling disconnected from the bestial realm. His zoo was supposed to be quite good with rehabilitating wounded animals.

R.I.P. Steve Irwin.

I've found stingrays to be very gentle. They even kept coming back to be touched by me. The stinger Steve encountered jammed its barb in the heart. I guess that paralyzed the heart muscles. Too horrible.

Talk about irony; killed by a creature that is nearly harmless and mostly only gives painful stings; the odds of catching a barb right throught the heart is astronomical; hope he had good life insurance; I feel for his poor kids; he had and 8 and 3 year old; very very sad; kids need a dad. If you havent read the story; it is on msn.com with full story. I will pray for him and his family.

I saw this first thing in the morning. This info really hit hard. Steve Irwin was such a powerful and charismatic voice for nature and conservation. I just hope that his ideals and beliefs will still be voiced. Also, and most important,God bless his family.

We will miss you Steve Irwin.

Long live The Ranger!

I read these message boards on and off every now and then, and never felt to reply. Except to this. The loss of Steve Irwin is a great tragedy. I'm from Australia and grew up very close to where Australia Zoo is situated. The amount of unsung work Steve put into the community over the years in terms of sponsorship and financial backing was immense.

Though many people would ridicule him (mostly Australians themselves), we all knew Steve Irwin did something for the country that no-one had been able to do since Paul Hogan. And Steve did it better.

His passing is a loss we will all feel. At least he went out doing something he loved.

Just read the story... shock wearing off...

He will be missed.

I liked him, and it seemed that he really did do a lot for not only his community, but his country as well, showing great intelligence and understanding of various animals. Barring the child incident (no common sense there), I think he was a good person.

/D

OK, so this may be tasteless, but i was thinking of setting up an incounter where a dead rangers corpse is found near a lake full of ixitichul- he has a would in his heart and an belt of natural armor made of crocodile hide.

It is a sad loss. Not only was he passionate about his profession he conveyed that to many old and young viewers alike. Our world is less for his loss. His family has my deepest sympathies.

From one adventurer to another...

Steve, you were one of the few people on TV that made me smile. I'll miss you pal.

I ended up watching Animal Planet all night last night. From what I understand, they are creating the Crikey Fund for wildlife protection, education and conservation. There's also Wildlife Warriors as well.

Steve Irwin was a man who loved a cause and fought his entire life for it. The world could use more people like him. My prayers go out to his family. Truley a sad loss for everybody.

RIP Steve Irwin. You will be missed.

Guess the stingray rolled three 20's. Damn those DM dice!

What I liked most about this guy was that he wore his enthusiasm through his facial expressions. I genuinely felt a rush when watching him wrestle with dangerous beasts in their natural habitats; a true admirer of nature.

He was one cool guy.

I don't even like TV in general, but when I did watch I always liked his show.

It's a hard shock, hopefully his family will be ok.

*sighes*

I'm very happy to read the opinions, maturity, and emotion of people on the Boards here. I was on my character on World of Warcraft when I heard the news, and most of the people had only cynicism and no respect for the loss of this man. Eventually, some (unfortunately, not I, as I tend to try and avoid talking with idiots when they surface) raised their voices and called out for respect and sympathy for the death of a man with a family.

At least he went out doing what he loved, and knowing that he had made a difference in this world, that he did something good for it. That's something all of us can only wish for in the end.

As another friend of nature and lover of life, I salute you, Steve Irwin. May your spirit roam in the beautiful wilds forever.

My stepdaughter cried, she used to watch his show all the time when she was younger. It's a sad thing, but if he was going to go out, he probably wouldn't have wanted it to be any other way, but being out there doing the stuff he loved to do.

Scarab Sages

So, I was pretty much unaffected by the death of Steve Irwin. I enjoyed his shows, don't get me wrong. But everyone dies, and I am not especially moved when that person happens to be a celebrity.

But I heard today that there are some people in Australia who are taking revenge on stingrays around the country. They are killing them and throwing them onto beaches. Whether this is absolute fact or not is debatable, but I am pretty certain that this is that last thing that Stevie would want to happen as a result of his untimely demise.

Absolutely. That is ignorant reactionism defined.
