Aha! Hehehehe. Oh, again out of curiousity, does the name Elhavious mean anything to anyone here?

When Donald Sutherland points his finger at the end of the remake and screeches that unearthly long note, I totally freaked out!

Oh, and sorry to the original poster...I went off comics and into different mediums.

I still remember that scene vividly... kinda like the expression on the insane bewanged girl's face at the end of Sleepaway Camp. Not something I ever want to see again.

FREAKY.

I just reread Watchmen and your right. Freaky.

ok; maybe this should be by type of villain;
Favorite Thug type villain; Juggernaught; not the pansy from the new xmen movie either.

Favorite Mastermind type villain; Dr. Doom, though Submariner in his warmongering attacks on New York with the Atlantean military was pretty cool back in the day.

Sovereign Court

I'm going to have to go with Dr. Doom as the best comics villain, although Magneto has long been my favorite. Many similarities between them, but Doom rules because he's quite often right and the 'heroes' reluctantly agree to his point of view; and add in that he's a renaissance man, using science, magic, and political might towards his goals.

I greatly enjoyed the power displayed by Magneto in the X-Men movie. A pity the Fantastic 4 movie was 'teh suck', Dr. Doom could be appreciated by a wider audience.

Doctor Doom is definitely a favourite.

Green Goblin tops the list of my most despised villain, but what else can you say about the man who killed Gwen Stacy?

Luthor has always been my favourite DC villain, because there is something special about a supervillain legitimately becoming the President of the United States of America.

Joker comes a close second for running for mayor under the line:
"Vote for me or I'll kill you." :D

In film, I gotta say I thought Doctor Octopus was pretty awesome in Spider-Man 2.

But full badass kudos goes to Boba Fett for becoming a bigger legend in the minds of the fans than he ever could on film.

Contributor

Though Erik's choice was good for real villains, and spot on, I have always had a liking for good ole Dr. Doom.

Der Fuhress: Hillary Clinton.

Okay Favourite Villians... Where do i start?

Marvel: Magneto, Weapon X (in Exiles), Carnage (psychopathic!) Gah-Lak-Tus (Ultimate Galactus) and Ultimate Green Goblin (was anybody else waiting for them to create an ACTUAL goblin???)

DC: Anti-Monitor, Vandal Savage, Lex Luthor and Gorilla Grodd

Other Comics: Redeemer (Spawn)

Film: Cerdic (King Arthur) and Einon (Dragonheart)

Dr. Doom all the way. This is the ideal proto-type for a tough and dangerous villain. What i really like about him is, that he isn't a classic madman like many villains are (of course some of his actions may make him seem like one). If you'd shape a DnD-villain after him, you can't go wrong. The characters will hate him (right before they die, of course).

I don't know if this topic already came up, but did any of you try to convert a comic book villain into d20-stats?
I'd really like to know which one you chose and how this turned out.

Darth Vader - No one does it better.

Smith - Almost single-handedly made the second two movies worth watching.

The White Witch (C.S.Lewis) - Iconic, wicked, and one of the first villains I can remember.

Two-Face - Truly tragic, when given the respek he deserves (I'm looking at you, Batman Forever).

I gotta say Dekko, from Scott McCloud's Zot! And a nod to Lord Foul (but when was he in a comic), Stormbringer (Elric's sword), Magneto, the Master, Doctor Doom, and Zen as Horobi (by Tagami). Oh yeah, also Tetsuo in Akira was cool.

And not the Movie version either, the comic Doom with armor stolen from Iron Man, and magic to back it up with. I was trying to build a stat block for him too, complete with armor he could cast arcane through. I too would be interested to know if anyone completed his stat block.

You know who gets no respek? Snarf. He paved the way for annoying sidekicks in the 80's. Without Snarf, no Jar Jar. It's a crime, I tells ya.

Piss on Snarf. He's nothing! Bat-mite was around way before.

And, oh yeah, I wanted to add Azalin the Lich from Ravenloft. He was a lich and Lord of his Domain yet couldn't learn any new magic. Even still, he was Strahd's biggest rival and managed to engineer the Grand Conjunction!

Deadpool =)

Artemis Entreri - The tortured Assassin with the cool name (although oviously too cool since my wife won't let me name any male children we have Artemis) >:(

Dr. Doom - He is just such an Iconic Villain... everything a good Villain should be.

Carnage - In his Maximum Carnage days. There was a Villain that was pure and unadulterated evil... he was a mass murder with nothing more on his mind than slaughtering innocents (although any Heroes that got in the was were fair game) in the times when villains just wanted to rob banks or fight Heroes.

Bosamp the Wizard - from Captain's Outrageous Or, For Doom the Bell Tolls.
and then
Kathy - from it's follow up Yor's Revenge.
2 Great old skool TSR Novels well worth a read if you can pick them up.

Dark Archive Owner - Johnny Scott Comics and Games

Galactus. The dude eats planets!

Well, Artemis started out as a villain . . . its just hard to maintain that status when you hang around for 20 years and start staring in some of the books yourself.

Unless Marvel changed yet another cherished memory of my youth, during the "Armor Wars" storyline Tony starting thinking of potential people that might have stolen his armor technology. While Doom appears in his "vision" of people that might have stolen the tech . . . seriously . . . Doom is more than intelligent enough to have made his own armor. At that point in the story Tony was starting to get paranoid (heck, he caused the death of one of the people he was trying to "disposses" of his technology, and never blamed himself for a second).

Dark Archive

Comics-wise, I think all of the major bases have been covered. My personal picks are Dr. Doom, as the archetype of a villain, and The Joker & Lex Luthor, since they represent the complete opposites of Batman & Superman so well. Ozymandias is another great choice.

Gaston from "Beauty and the Beast" - the line "Who can make up these endless refrains like Gaston?" would be enough, but he's a perfect villain all around. Scar from "The Lion King" is another great one.

Biff Tannen - this is the kind of villain we all have to deal with. The scene where George McFly knocks him out is my personal favorite movie moment.

Gregor Clegane is bad, but I have a huge soft spot for Roose Bolton. Maybe it's just because my character in our Game of Thrones RPG is his naive nephew, but Roose has a couple of great moments in the series - threatening to kill Arya if she ever asks him another question is my favorite, though I'm sure there's another act for which he's better known.

True, but they both started out as Villains (as KnightErrantJR already pointed out about Entreri).

Just 'cause they're outlook on life is bit brighter now doesn't mean I love them any less (in fact I think I love Deadpool even more now).

James Veneminn, the Gemini Killer from The Exorcist III. One of the best performances by anybody, ever. That guy still gives me the creeps.

BTW, if you have never seen The Exorcist III, it is totally underrated. The second one was such a piece of crap that very few people gave the third one an even chance. It has a firm place in my top 10 movies of all time. George C. Scott is one of those actors that could make two hours of him reading the dictionary interesting.

Dr. Doom, for a complex villain, can't be topped.

Lex Luthor, the ordinary man fighting gods.

Chaos from Dragons of Summer Flame. Why? When you stare down the Knights of Solamnia and Knights of Takhisis and ask them:

"You, your god Paladine has fallen in battle." To the assembled Solamnics. Then turns to the Knights of Takhisis:

"Your goddess has fled the battlefield."

Just to ask the insignificant mortals:

"Who will you turn to?"

Oh, and Elaith Craulnober ranks up there too.

And so does Kefka from Final Fantasy 3/6.

Marvel: Magneto, neck and neck with Doom.

TV: Father Cavil (again, Dean Stockwell as a villian) Scorpius. Ba'al

RPG: Manshoon, especially as how The Hooded One describes Ed running him.

Books: The Hooded One, Ma'ar, Randal Flagg. "My Name is Russel Faraday. And I am here to civilize you!"
