I think my mother's cousin lives in Prior Lake. I went up there like 2001 in February; there was 2 or 3 feet of snow on the ground.
I miss snow. I want snow. Like, right now...I have two Siberian Huskies, and they miss snow, too... (yeah, and you can shoot this message back to me in January when I'm whining about the cold!)

Texas heat--it gets to the hundreds and all, but the real bummer about it is it will still be 90 deg f at midnight. It will still feel like walking into an attic. It won't end until September, maybe October. And it barely ever rains. And when it does rain the ground stays wet for less than half an hour. It's cuh-razy.
Sounds almost like southeastern WA. I lived there for a couple of years. It would get to 110 for a couple of weeks in July, but it was so dry you could feel the sweat evaporating off you the second you walked out the door. The heat was ok, it's the humidity I hate. Have to keep the dogs and the kids inside and that gets crazy.

Oh, no I didn't mean anything bad. I just used to visit my grand parents up there in summer, and I remember a newspaper cartoon about a Minnesotan complaining about how hot it was, and he said, "gosh it's humid."

Holy crap! I go to Fresno State! I am in Italy right now though, which is about 105ish, and so humid that I can leave clothes outside to dry and it after 12 hours they are still wet.

The temperature difference between the thermometer in the sun across the parking lot and the thermometer in the shade right outside my office door? 25 degrees. 91 in the shade, 116 in the sun. Crazy, I say.

I second that. The whole point of living in San Diego is to brag about how much better our weather is than everywhere else in the world. If you people in Hawaii start popping up telling everyone how great your weather is, you rob me of the only bragging rights attached to this godforsaken patch of coastal desert.
It's been getting upwards of 80 degrees on the coast, and that's just not right. Inland its over 100, but that place is even more godforsaken. I don't have air conditioning (and don't normally need it due to coastal breezes), but this summer has been brutal.

Agree with virtually everything in this - especially the heat. I was in Singapore last year (a few degrees north of the equator) and that was much more bearable - because they have aircon. Us Brits? Nah, it never gets warm enough here, does it?

How come my generation (the 20-30 year old) wasn't has fat or Ritalin filled has the 5 to 15 year old of today? We had video games, sex and violence on TV, Ritalin and everything else that's blamed for todays youth problems, so why don't we have the same problems?

I hate it when a new supplement introduces something, be it feat/skill/skill use/race (ESPECIALLY RACES)/class/PrC/magic item/whatever, that circumvents a previously impassable restriction. Case in point, Raise Outsider, or whatever the spell name is in the Spell Compendium. WHAT?! They're supposed to be unable to be brought back! "Oh, but not everyone has this spell, so it's still rare." NO! No, it's not, because you gave it to clerics. CLERICS. As in, They-Get-Every-Spell-Of-Every-Level-They-Know. So now, every 9th level cleric can raise outsiders. BULL****!!!!
Even in the case that the thing isn't broken, I'm still squemish about allowing something in that says, "You couldn't normall do this, but with this new option, you can!" I know a lot of people will say, "Yes, thank you very much!", but there's something in the back of my mind that says, "Don't you think the game designers thought about this when they made 3rd edition in the first place... and even if not, that they would have done something about it in the revision to 3.5? This limitation probably existed for a reason, so why are we now getting rid of it?" There seems to be a trend towards doing things simply from a game balance perspective, regardless of any rationalization about how it's done.
Case in point again, in the DMG, it specifically points out that there's a reason a Silversheen exists, but not a Cold Iron Sheen. But I wouldn't be surprised, the way things are currently going, to see one soon, most likely created purely from the perspective that it would entice people to get the book, and isn't game-breaking. But it makes no sense!
To my pallate (or however you spell it...), game balance should bend to realism, not vice versa. And part of that is to introduce lots of nice, juicy lore about things. Sure, I can make it up on my own, but you'd be saving me so much trouble by introducing it yourself, WotC, and then I can just tweak the parts that I don't like, or steal it for something else, and it helps me wrap my mind around WHY exactly this thing can do what it does, which helps prevent me from saying, "Trash bin. Next!" And I'll take a moment from my whining to say, "Yes, WotC, you are doing that in many of your more recent books. Thank you. Thank you kindly."
