I can neither confirm nor deny the extensive research and testing required to adequately put this map into production.

... while the flip-side extends the scene on Flip-Mat: Warehouse to flesh out the seedier side of town! Both sides show interiors and exteriors, for when the inevitable brawls spill out onto the city streets!
That is awesome ... nothing like an extra-huge waterfront map for a perfect chase sequence.

For research I am sure.
Ahem.
After looking at the final map, I remain unconvinced that the pubs portrayed do not resemble any locations based in, on, or around the greater Seattle area or locations in the midwest. :P

If I did research for the design of this product, I don't remember it. ;)

Ahem.
That is the nature of such research.
...FOR SCIENCE!

How are you guys envisioning the one room on the flip side northwest corner that opens up without a wall into the sea? Is that like an open pen area without a ceiling, or did it used to be a proper building but the cliff has recently collapsed into the sea, taking the corner of the building with it, or what?
I realize that I can just make up my own explanation, but I'd like to hear some additional ideas.

Suggestion: This location is in Absalom. That room caters to gillmen clients and provides easy access to and from the sea.
