That's great to hear indeed! I hope the recovery is quick!
The 'Galean coming of age' idea I was thinking of writing for a while.
But as Brits can't spell.my bloody name right, I'm not yet in my new place, and staying with a nice old lady and her several cats in an English village with a population of 1,500 humans and I think just as many cows.

Sorry for the threadjack :(
A game I'm in is missing a few players. The DM prefers to ask people we know before opening recruitment.
Zeitgeist is a great AP with a rich and complex plot lines. It takes a bit of time to feel comfortable in the story.
PM me if you'd be interested. I'll put you in touch with the GM.

This game of cards might take a very long time to play out in PbP... Perhaps we should play 10 pp at a time?

Please note that I’m away from Friday morning to Sunday night. Please bot me as needed.
Galean "Rafter" Santiago |
Galean may or may not roll randomly on his summoning table to see what comes out.
Since the player of Galean isn't that much of an are - whatever comes out (from the summon, not out of Galean's stomach), I'll give you stat blocks for!
Trevor the Yellow |
I will be travelling and likely unable to post between Wednesday and Monday. Please bot me as needed.
DM Davy Jones |
I will be spending the holiday with family so as you can imagine I will be frantically checking the Paizo boards for "work".
But in any case have a Happy Thanksgiving you reprobates!
Nymph |
Thanks, have a good turkey day :3

Please note that I'm going on vacation this coming Sunday for two weeks. I expect I won't be able to post very often, if at all. Please bot me as needed.

I actually used that to quiet down hecklers which would have popped up as you were telling your tale (sort of skipping that event) which would have hurt your Infamy check.
I'll give you a +3 since you managed to beat the DC by a good margin.
Yuki Okano |
GM, I feel as though not using my initial Intimidation check as the Infamy check is not really a fair call, since clearly I was using it as part of the story and not to quiet down hecklers. Could you please reconsider your decision?
DM Davy Jones |
OK, I will have more to say on this when I get back to a computer however this really isn't a huge issue in the AP or even in this book so I'm fine with you passing the roll.
DM Davy Jones |
Ah, Friday.
So a note about this particular encounter.
You come in and talk to Kerdak, Kerdak demands you recount your deeds for your crowd.
Now one of the problems with AP's and PbP is that AP's are, understandably, not written with PbP in mind. This "test" has you interact with 3 different hecklers while you recount your tale.
Each heckler has to be dealt with either an Intimidate Check, a Diplomacy check or a Perform (comedy) check - I don't think I've seen that anywhere before but we'll leave that aside.
Each of those hecklers, if you don't pass the check, can give you a -2 to your infamy check for a cumulative -6.
As an aside the best you can get for roleplaying is a +3 to your infamy check.
Only after you roll three times can you roll your infamy check.
In this instance since you succeeded in an unasked-for (at that point) Intimidate check while presenting your deeds I decided to skip the hecklers since you beat the DC 20 by 13 - that's a fierce amount of "who the hell are you?" to the assembled hangers on in Kerdak's hall and called for the subsequent Infamy check that as written give you a maximum miscellaneous bonus of +3 which you got.
Failing this Infamy check has, essentially, 0 story impact. Zip. Zilch. Nil. You will always get your letter of marque because it is a REQUIREMENT of the AP and a little embarassment in front of faceless henchmen isn't a big deal.
There's a minor (very minor) annoyance of the -2 to Charisma checks in Port Peril only which, unsurprisingly, is not the focus of this book. You're out of here in about a day in-game time and out-of-game at most a week of playing. At most.
Additionally it gave me an opportunity to at least attempt to give you a glimpse of Kerdak Bonefist as something more than a mashup pastiche of Blackbeard and the Pirates of the Caribbean (he's a superbroad parody as-written, Assassin's Creed IV-level parody even).
So rather than make you guys do 4 rolls, deal with a heckler and make a check at a possible substantial penalty I gave you a bonus, let you skip the hecklers and still gave you the letter of marque which is the entire point of the encounter.
I think that's more than fair.
However, and I'll state this again, the -2 penalty is really unimportant. Whether you succeed at the Infamy check in the hall is really unimportant. So it is not worth it to me to argue about this roll because it is really unimportant.
What is important to me is the perception of you, as my players, that I'm dealing fairly with you so in that spirit I have explained my normally opaque thought process to you and I hope it helps.
Yuki Okano |
Thank you for the detailed explanation of what happened. You definitely cleared things up and I appreciate the transparency.
Since one of the causes of this misunderstanding was my making a dice roll that was not requested, I will refrain from doing that in the future.
Since the penalty isn't going to effect the group outside of this section, I'm fine with sticking with the initial failure.

Hey guys
I am finding myself in a situation where I might be able to rejoin this if you were interested in having me back.
Ayre |
Looks like I'm 4 levels behind
But I'll wait for more folks to chime in. It might be time for me to leave my little alchemy lab on the ship again
DM Davy Jones |
Hey Ayre! You know I love ya man, so I'm good but with 6 I'm definitely ramping up the difficulty.
Ayre was a...sylph?...sorceror.

Should I just move ok to WBL?
I can join in next time they get back to the boat? Give me some time update
Is it ok if I take craft wand and use improved familiar to let rocky (my rock man familiar speak to be able to use wands? Currently he is unable to speak out loud)
DM Davy Jones |
DM Davy Jones |
No, but I know people usually trade in their regular familiar for a "super" familiar with the feat so I didn't want you to regret it later. There's an argument that since familiars can talk with their master at level 5 improved familiar shouldn't be required for wand use but I don't agree with that interpretation (absent errata I haven't seen).
MiniGM |
Nah I don't need super familiar, the ability to activate wands, and I guess scrolls is plenty
But since we are buffing him.
Can I give Rocky this ability 3/day? Be funny if rocky could launch rocks at people. I'd only use it ion stone things.
I'll take craft wand at 5 and imp familiar at 7
Still need my precise shot, but I guess that will be 9
I'll spend most of my money on wands and scrolls and the like

I added the wand to my sheet.
Trevor the Yellow |
Not really. I didn't want us to lose track of it. The Captain should probably have it. Let me know if you want to add it to your sheet. I'll take it off mine.
Yuki Okano |
I have a CL 1 wand of cure light already with 50 charges. Do you mind if I take the CL 3 version while you take my CL 1 version?
Trevor the Yellow |
Makes sense. I'll adjust my sheet.

I like Boneshatter.
Part 2 of the book, They Came From the Isle of the Oozes, thinks it's super.
