Okay so looking over everything, Nymph has a hold of Caulky, Galway turned into a WereGorilla and scared s% out of the bar so... what do?

Needless to say starting the Great Gorilla Riot of Port Peril definitely adds to your Infamy and Disrepute. Increase each by 1.

Is everything okay?

I hope everything's okay, too.
The Calamitous Intent is a Longship, right? Did we have the ship list somewhere, since I think now that we have both plunder and a professional carpenter (Ayre), we could do with some improvement on the ship. It's not that I want to have the fastest ship in the sea, but I want to have the fastest ship on the sea.
DM Davy Jones |
Everything's fine I was just looking to settle in and had to head out right away.
And no the Calamitous Intent is a three masted sailing ship (see the stats in the Player's Guide) or for base stats:
Colossal ship
Squares 3 (30 ft. by 90 ft.) Cost 10,000 gp
DEFENSE
AC 2; [b]Hardness 5
hp 1,620 (sails 360)
Base Save +6
OFFENSE
Maximum Speed 90 ft. (wind); Acceleration 30 ft.
CMB +8; CMD 18
Ramming Damage 8d8
STATISTICS
Propulsion wind or current
Sailing Check Profession (sailor)
Control Device steering wheel
Means of Propulsion 90 squares of sails (three masts)
Crew 20
Decks 2 or 3
Cargo/Passengers 150 tons/120 passengers
Weapons: Up to 20 Large direct-fire siege engines in banks of 10 positioned on the port and starboard sides of the ship, or up to six Huge direct-fire siege engines in banks of three on the port and starboard sides of the ship. These siege engines may only fire out the sides of the ship that they are positioned on and cannot fire toward the forward or aft sides of the ship.
In addition, up to two Large or one Huge direct-fire or indirect-fire siege engine may be positioned on both the forecastle and sterncastle of the ship. These siege engines can be swiveled to fire out the sides of the ship or either forward or aft, depending on their position.
You have made several improvements which I'm sure you've kept track of as the game has progressed so you don't have to use the base stats in the event coming up.
Galean "Rafter" Santiago |
Yep.
Totally kept track of all of them.
Especially the magical cannon with no need to be reloaded.
So, as the designated Gameplay Excavator, I'll look at what we've acquired for the ship - things that we'd want to get, regardless of whether we did already or not:
Broad Rudder:Benefit: A wide rudder makes a ship more nimble, granting a +1 bonus on all sailing checks.
Requirements
Craft (ships) DC 16; Cost: 500 gp
Rapid-Deploy Sails:
The ship’s rigging undergoes a wholesale change as improvements in engineering enable the sails to be raised and lowered much faster than normal.
Benefit: Any sail adjustments can be made in half the normal time, granting a +1 bonus on all sailing checks.
Requirements
Craft (sails) or Knowledge (engineering) DC 25; Cost: 10% of base ship cost
Silk Sails:
Few ship improvements are as beautiful as the addition of silk sails. These sails can be designed in whatever color the player desires; they are often embroidered with striking images of the sea. Such sails are usually imported from faraway lands. Silk sails give the ship superior rates of movement, as they capture and displace the wind more efficiently.
Benefit: A ship with silk sails gains a +1 bonus on opposed sailing checks to gain the upper hand. The ship’s tactical speed in ship-to-ship combat is not affected, but its waterborne speed is increased by 10%.
Requirements
Craft (sails) DC 16; Cost: 15% of base ship cost
So, we can cough up 3,000 GP to get the Calamitous Intent some nice sails. If we get them Magically Treated, too, that'll make them a lot more durable, but it costs 500 gp per 5ft square of sails, so for a ship this size I think it'd be a LOT.
Another suggestion that I could make, which might be a bit heretical of nature, would be to spend our significant fortune into a new ship, the fastest ship in the Shackles.
...The (Un)Intended Calamity
Yuki Okano |
We should already have silk sails, 10 light ballistae, and a catapult from when we took Locke's ship. Apparently we had 6 water breathing potions as well, so we didn't need Ayre to make them. Here is the link to that acquisition.
We also have a magical ram and box of holding from when we fought the mutant sahaugin. Here is a link to that acquisition.
I'm cool with getting a broad rudder and rapid deploy sails though. We may want to wait until we get more plunder unless the Regatta is starting somewhat soon.
I think we should just keep the name as the Calamitous Intent, changing names is bad luck.
GM, do we still have the Shackles of Compliance we got a long time ago? They would be helpful now.

Things in real life have started to pick up and I find myself with less time for PbP. I need to let a few PbP games go. This is one of them.
I'm sorry to leave you all hanging, but I hope you have enough characters, or can find new ones if needed.
I thank you very much for this game, in particular DM Davy Jones! It was great fun.
Happy gaming,
DW
P.S.: DM, could you remove me from the list of active players in your campaign tab?
Nymph |
*offers hugs*
DM Davy Jones |
Well the site seems faster at least? Gonna be hard to get to the new font.
Nymph |
Yeah, you do you :3
Yuki Okano |
You might need to make both his player alias 'Dreaming Warforged' and his player alias "Trevor the Yellow" inactive. That's been a problem I've had in the past anyway.
Nymph |
Sorry for not posting, still here. I lost the x new posts indicator on a bunch of my games so finding out i've missed 10+ posts in multiple games has been a dredge to make myself get through.
DM Davy Jones |
No worries! Waiting on some rolls about the mysterious ship.
If Galean doesn't roll by the way assume he calls down and you make a similar roll based on his description of what he sees.

Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend (or just weekend if you don't celebrate Easter) - you each get a cure serious wounds chocolate bar as cast by a 10th level cleric (so 3d8 + 10).
Nymph |
Yay! Thankies :3
DM Davy Jones |
I have checked and the map should definitely be updated but if for any reason it is not let me know ASAP!
DM Davy Jones |
I apologize - it's been a long day and I'm beat. I'll do at least 2 posts tomorrow for you guys.
Nymph |
Sorry for going silent for over a month. Spending the whole last fight running away put me in a s&%~ty mood but after I just haven't been able to force myself to post anything, despite being in a friggin temple to Calistria.
This isn't the first time I've slacked off, and another one of my games I'm in (the first actually) just collapsed due to numerous issues, which leads to think it might be better if I just left, rather than dragging this game down any more. I kinda messed up in applying, since everyone else wanted to be pirates, this is an AP about pirates, but I only thought about the first book. I hate that everyone is walking on eggshells around me cause they'll afraid I'll get mad at them being pirates.
So I rather just bow out so you all can actually enjoy the game.
Yuki Okano |
Nymph, you've been a core part of this game from the beginning and I hope that you will reconsider leaving. If it makes any difference, I see your character's conscience as a feature, not a bug.
DM Davy Jones |
I'd be super sorry to see you leave as well since you're a huge presence! I too like the character's conscience as it's changed you to privateers which is slightly more respectable!
And I don't think people have been eggshelling around you since piracy is really only a part of book 2 at most and there are plenty of bad people rolling around - a good sailing adventure works and it opens up some interesting perspectives in the AP that aren't going to be present for some games.
I understand whichever way you go however so let us know!
As a totally different aside was anyone helping Yuki's Infamy roll?
Galean "Rafter" Santiago |
I'd like to chip in, too.
I've quite liked the interactions Galean has had with Nymph. I agree, too, with the point about the conscience being a bonus, and it's not like we're the cutthroatiest bunch of pirates on the seas.
I don't think that you're dragging down the game, if anyone's doing that, it's surely me. *The slumbering Robo-Galean shudders in his murky abyss.* And, apologies for that to everyone.
All in all, regardless of what you decide, it's (been) a pleasure playing with you!

Sorry for taking awhile to respond, I honestly wasn't expecting these responses. If you all don't mind and everyone is actually having fun I'd love to stay then.
