One of Pathfinder’s most popular and exciting campaigns comes to 5e at last!

When the mysterious Gauntlight, an eerie landlocked lighthouse, glows with baleful light, the people of Otari know something terrible is beginning. Evil stirs in the depths of the Abomination Vaults, a sprawling dungeon where a wicked sorcerer attempted to raise an army of monsters hundreds of years ago. The town's newest heroes must venture into a sprawling dungeon filled with beasts and traps to prevent a spiteful spellcaster from rising again!

This complete compilation of the original Adventure Path campaign has been adapted to the newest version of the world’s oldest RPG. You’ve heard about the quality and depth of Pathfinder campaigns for years—now explore the Abomination Vaults yourself without having to learn a new game system!

Written by: James Jacobs, Vanessa Hoskins, and Stephen Radney-MacFarland.

Content Warning: While Abomination Vaults contains typical Pathfinder action and adventure, it also presents themes of suicide, ableism, body horror, and human experimentation. Before you begin, understand that player consent (including that of the Game Master) is vital to a safe and fun play experience for everyone. You should talk with your players before beginning the adventure and modify descriptions or scenarios as appropriate.

Note: This Abomination Vaults compilation hardcover is not included in the Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscription. Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscribers who preorder Pathfinder Adventure Path: Abomination Vaults will receive a free PDF when their physical copy ships.

Huh… weird move, but I guess Paizo’s trying to cash in on that 5e money.

I guess Kingmaker 5e sold well enough to warrant more conversions, and Abomination Vaults sold well enough to be the flagship product for PF2. Interesting stuff.

Will Paizo be releasing other 5E content in the future, or is Abomination Vaults a special case?

Well... I'm not mad at this news. I am loving Abomination Vaults in 2e, and am quite interested in seeing how the 5e rules might handle a couple things we've run into so far. I assume the 5e hardback won't have the maps included (not expected either)... so I hope both versions can use the same maps.

I'm excited, this will totally introduce a lot of people to Golarion.

I imagine the answers depends on how well this does.

Interesting!
Not an expected move, but if it gets 5e folks interested in what Pathfinder has to offer, I'm all for it. And Abomination Vaults is a pretty solid pick.

Hope the conversion is good!

This is absolutely correct. We have no other 5E plans to announce at this time.

The maps are the same in both versions. Some of the denizens had to change because the systems work differently, but the maps, plot beats, key NPCs, and fun are all the same!

Will there be a Player's Guide?

I mean, maybe, but it's pretty self-contained in its location, which is probably why they chose to convert it.

Hey, get that money however you can. I hope this'll encourage some 5e people to check out PF2e.

I do want to make sure this isn't tossed into the AP subscription, since I already own AV, and I have no interest in 5e...

The 2E compilation isn't included in the subscription either, no worries there. (except the PDF *is* if you actively pre-order).

Honestly, I'll buy this just to see how Paizo tackles 5e ruleset.

Its not, the blurb says that it isn't but that AP subscribers who do preorder it will get a pdf for free.

Ooooh, what an excellent nugget to feed to my 5e friends.

This is, in my opinion at least, the absolute BEST move for the company and IP that has happened in a very long time.

It will bring the products to the 5e market, introduce the setting and even ever so slightly nudge some more people in the hobby toward the Pathfinder brand by way of their fantastic premade adventures.

No idea who deserves the congratulations for the idea, effort, and work behind this (and hopefully other similar AP/Module conversations), but regardless I hope they feel the love for it as this kind of thing has amazing potential not only for generating new revenue streams but also to give an easier introduction onramp for dedicated 5e groups and players.

Is this the final artwork?
Won't 5E players in a store just skip over it seeing Pathfinder being so prominent?

For those who have consternation about this move for the future of 2E: don't underestimate the power of brand and goodwill in the TTRPG community. Paizo initially became a success with Pathfinder because it had produced content for WOTC in the form of Dungeon and Dragon magazines. The huge market that is playing 5E is not actively rejecting Pathfinder; they are playing 5E because (1) the people they know are playing it and (2) why learn a new system? The marked step-up in quality over WOTC adventures will turn a lot of these new eyes in Paizo's direction. This is a great move.

I know approximately 12 systems, and I'm not some MIT polymath or anything.

Also of note: This will let Paizo get their foot in the door of a not insignificant number of shops *only* selling D&D products. I have a couple around here...

I personally enjoy learning new systems, but a lot of my 5E group doesn't have the time/inclination to dive into a different systems (understandably!), so I'm ridiculously excited to have the ability introduce them to Pathfinder adventures without the task of teaching/learning a completely different set of rules.

It's rough working for a TTRPG company that makes so much cool stuff while your dedicated group plays a different system! (also, hi friends, if you happen to see this comment since I immediately linked this in our group chat as soon as it was live)

A few of my players know one system, PF (well technically now two as we moved from PF1 to PF2) and they don't have any inclination to learn other ones since this is what we're playing.

Good move by Paizo to reach out to the 5e audience and show off their Adventure Path. Hopefully, it will entice more of that audience to throw off their shackles and embrace the awesomeness of Pathfinder Second Edition.

I am all for this. It's a great way or Paizo to increase their footprint and get in the door with 5E only groups. It also is a good way to make more money for very little cost. The time (read money) required to convert a product to 5E is much cheaper than the cost of writing a new adventure, so it has a higher profit margin for the AP as a whole. If they make more money on an AP, they can pay more to have them written.

I'll be buying this solely to show that there's a market for it, even though I don't see myself running this particular AP (although I've been wrong before).

I've also converted and ran Rise of the Runelords and I'm converting and running Curse of the Crimson Throne right now in 5e! It can be done.

As an on-ramp for D&D 5E players into the goodness that is Paizo, I support this idea even if I won't buy the product. I don't play 5E but I welcome 5E players looking to check something new out. Add more books to their shelves, spread their wings, and whatnot.
