Paizo, I love you. Every single one of you.

But especially whoever it was that made the case for Valais Durant to be a Faction Leader. She's been my own personal Venture-Captain ever since she introduced herself amongst a bunch of dusty bookshelves long ago.

I don't fully understand yet how characters will apply themselves to factions, but I assure you my first PFS2 character will be a member of the Radiant Oath.

I'm never going to get the image out of my head of Seoni going cross-eyed every time she casts a spell.

But this story was amazing.

On the stream today, Sara Marie mentioned that her character might still need a last name.

Should Carina want it, the Thunderpike clan would welcome you with open arms. :D

Most of my Dwarves are named Thunderpike, so if nothing else she might have distant relatives out there somewhere playing in Pathfinder Society.

I'm pretty sure my first couple of classes I try will be brandishing shields. I had way too much fun in the playtest shoving people around when they hit my Fighter.

Is it worth being a PFS GM? Yes. Absolutely.

It's also important, I have found, to not spread yourself across too many GM duties at once. I'm running Strange Aeons in a non-PFS setting and GMing at my FLGS about once or twice a month, and that's definitely my limit.

Do it because you love it, not because you feel you have to.

My Oracle of the Bones is in Silver Crusade because he got into the wrong line during the faction orientation meeting. Ollysta Zadrian is rarely pleased with my actions.

It took about three levels to figure it out, but my Sylph Ninja is in DA for this exact reason.

Sounds like the GM should probably take a step back and read the room. When the entire table hates a house rule, a compromise is in order at the very least.

You could also hold on to the ring and just refuse to use it. Might send an extra message to the GM as well. Sort of a "I don't wanna be a Warpriest!" hint.

Crank & Crank 2: High Voltage
(You have to watch them both to experience the full saga that is Crank)

Why it's bad: Jason Statham plays his usual "I'm a badass" character in a world that flips the bird to things like layered characters, complex storytelling, and physics.

Why I like it: It's the Grand Theft Auto/Saints Row video game adaptation that you never knew you always needed. It's Jason Statham being bat-poo insane for 90 minutes. Especially Crank 2, holy beans. My friends and I also like to pretend that it's actually a documentary camera crew just following Statham around while he's between jobs.

Also, it features one of the best cellphone ringtones ever. I've had it as my ringtone for years.

I've gone as far as creating different family names. Some of which are Society characters, others are just played at my group's weekly game.

My'Tchell Ravenstrike was my first Society character, and is apparently part of a very large family.

Maybe I should create a few family trees and try to figure it out.

I tried going through all 12 pages of this thread to see if my entry into this festering pile of cinematic train wrecks sliding into dumpster fires had already been mentioned, but I only got to page 2 before my eyes started to gloss over, and I think I started to black out a little. So, uhh...well played, posters from 2008. Well played.

Anyway, Movie 43. I heard it was awful, but it has a phenomenal cast. Seriously, check it out! I think it's the fact that it's got such a great cast that helps make it so very very bad. Easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen that's not intentionally made to be cheesy like those weekly Syfy atrocities.

It's important to remember flanking doesn't grant the ability to sneak attack with ranged weapons, so you have to find another way to deny the enemy their dex to AC.

And before you say Invisibility, at 20th level you can expect most creatures you encounter will have truesight or some other capacity to see invisible creatures. It's super duper common.

I bolded a bit for emphasis, but yeah consider that Dexterity denied.

Quote:
Hidden Master (Su): At 20th level, a ninja becomes a true master of her art. She can, as a standard action, cast greater invisibility on herself. While invisible in this way, she cannot be detected by any means, and not even invisibility purge, see invisibility, and true seeing can reveal her. She uses her ninja level as her caster level for this ability. Using this ability consumes 3 ki points from her ki pool. In addition, whenever the ninja deals sneak attack damage, she can sacrifice additional damage dice to apply a penalty to one ability score of the target equal to the number of dice sacrificed for 1 minute. This penalty does not stack with itself and cannot reduce an ability score below 1.

I ran Jade Regent for my group and really really liked the first three books. Then I absolutely LOVED the last three that finally put us silly Varisians on the other side of the world.

I'm all for another Tian Xia centered AP, but I'm also just as much in favor of a Tian Xia World Guide followed by maybe a handful of splat books detailing more on the people and the geography.

Now I need to go start writing up some sort of Numeria/Minkai teleportation debacle that involves giant robots battling Kaiju.

Am I mistaken in thinking that the Furious property could only go on melee weapons? I'm not entirely sure you can apply that to an Amulet.

If it works though, you're golden.

The only possible issue I see is where it states in Improved Lockjaw that you are unable to use your mouth for anything other than grappling. I would take that to mean any additional bite attacks, as that would be using your mouth for something other than grappling.

So you get all your attacks except the ones with your chompers...though I imagine so long as you can maintain the grapple, your "grappling bite" damage is dealt to the target each round.

That's my take on it, anyway.

A large room with the only other door on the opposite side from where they entered. The floor is covered with four inches of really watery mud, so it kind of moves in slow waves back and forth. Of course, they'll only know it's four inches deep if they step in.

I watched this stop a party dead for hours as they tried to investigate without falling in.

I feel like some RP would explain this pretty easily.

Make sure to note to the GM and other players that your Fighter won't be spending the evening getting drunk in the tavern, but rather will be spending time in the library researching stories of others with arcane abilities. Show extra interest in any scrolls or wands you find on your adventures.

Also, by the time you've reached second level, you've more than likely come across a Masterwork weapon or item. Who's to say that wasn't your Arcane Bond in the first place?

Work it out with the GM and maybe something can be put into the campaign to help it along.

Alternatively, maybe start as a Wizard at level 1 and decide you wanna kick some ass with a sword and some armor at level 2.

The Exchange

I'd kill for a hardcover Jade Regent with reworked Caravan Rules, but I'm biased as that was the first AP I GM'd.

A hardcover Second Darkness is fine too.

Indeed. When this happened the first time (it's happened twice during this campaign. Twice! Shadows are our group's Kryptonite, I swear) I double and triple checked the rule before the fight, knowing full well that I could off a PC in one or two swipes.

I didn't even think of it at Mikado Cemetery until it became the Shadow's turn and Koya was only a 5 foot steep away. Then my evil GM senses took over. :-D

An NPC has taken a dirt nap for the first time in my campaign.

Name: Koya Mvashti
Race: Human
Classes/levels: Cleric of Desna 10
Adventure: The Empty Throne
Location: Mikado Cemetery on the Imperial Shrine
Catalyst: Really angry Shadows
The Gory Details: I killed an old woman who just wanted to see the sights. Desna forgive me, I'm a monster. :D

My group was almost to the tombstone shaped island when they got jumped by the Shadows there (who I had hissing and cursing about 'false Emperors' and 'injustice'). They got a couple of people but I rolled pretty low for the Strength Damage. That is, until Koya. I took 7 off her Strength of 5. Instant dead NPC. This was almost an exact repeat of how I killed a PC in the Shadow Maze back in Sakakabe.

Shadows man. They're harsh.

After moving from my dingy old apartment to a nice new shiny apartment, I can now settle down a bit and catch up on some obituary reading (man, that's morbid) as well as post one that happened about three weeks ago...I think. Anyhoo.

Name: Yumi Steelarm
Race: Human
Classes/levels: Paladin of Desna 10 (At the time. Like I said, this was a while ago)
Adventure: Tide of Honor
Location: On the road back from Shuryo Onsen
Catalyst: The Shinobi Fuhonsen
The Gory Details: After killing Kaibuninsho, the party's Barbarian, Xankas, grabbed the coin off the body (they had been approached by the Black Lotus ninja clan about it, and about the clan's intense interest in it) Xankas failed his Will save, and since his alignment is CN, it was a short journey for the coin to turn him Chaotic Evil.

That sound you just heard was me tossing the AP over my shoulder for the night.

Xankas made sure to stay up on a watch with Yumi, the Paladin who can detect evil at will and who has done so numerous times. Xankas jumped Yumi from behind, and with a raging full attack with a keened Falchion and Boots of Haste, it didn't take long for the very surprised Paladin (who, if I recall correctly, still tried to reason with Xankas after being attacked) to fall.

The Amatatsu Seal still needed to be used on a still-dead Avengard (see my previous post), so after a whole bunch of tense roleplay with just playing referee when a die roll came up between players, the coin was disposed of...but not into an Imperial Dragon's gullet, so...unbeknownst to them, but knownst to us, the Shinobi Fuhonsen moved on to ruin some other poor sod's life, and Yumi was raised with funds collected by the group to buy a scroll of Raise Dead.

Or maybe it was Resurrection. Like I said, this was a while ago. I really need to catch up on stuff.

My group mostly ignored Suishen until the end of Book 4 (we're near the end of Book 5 now) Now I'm sort of playing catch up with Suishen's powers, so every once in a while when there's an Oni encounter, one of them boasts extra loud or declares his actions for the glory of the Five Storms. So far it's worked well to reveal a few powers at an increased pace.

I've also been going with a "You want the sweet sword powers? Then wield the sweet sword." so handing off Suishen is effectively handing off the spell effects.

Name: Avengard E'lleril
Race/Class: Elven Cleric of Desna 11
Adventure: Tide of Honor
Location: Halfway to Shuryo Onsen
Cause of death: Kaibuninsho

After hearing about the assassin on their trail, the group looked for every possible method of not traveling by land. Unfortunately, one of the party is a Monk with Vow of Celibacy and he cannot be touched "in a friendly manner" at all, lest he lose all of his Ki (insert sexy jokes here). This leaves very very few options. After checking the market in Enganoka for Metamagic Rods with no luck, they set out on foot.

Kaibuninsho picked up their trail on their journey to kill Sennaka at Shuryo Onsen, and waited until nightfall to strike. They set up double watches, and I determined randomly which watch the assassination attempt would take place, and on which person. 3rd watch, Avengard and Yumi (Paladin of Desna, and new character joining the group since Wolcanus got Shadowfied--see my post above) were up. Perception checks were not high enough, so Kaibuninsho was able to sneak into place and toss a shuriken at Avengard's neck. Avengard rolled one under the DC for the assassination. But he had Desna's luck on his side, and could roll a failed D20 roll a second time! He rolled one less than the first time. Avengard fell to the ground and started growing a puddle of blood underneath him. Kaibuninsho was out of there before the group had even woken up completely.

Ameiko is safe back at Seinaru Hekiko, and the Amatatsu Seal will be able to bring Avengard back...but man oh man, this ninja assassin dude is freaking out the players at my table something fierce!

Name: Wolcanus Prognatus
Race/Class: Human Wizard 11
Adventure: Tide of Honor
Location: Shosaito's Last Stand
Cause of death: A low Strength score and a Greater Shadow.

After Jiro gave them the leads, my group decided to go to Sakkakabe first and save O-Sayumi. They got through everything and faced down Shosaito. The wizard himself wasn't all that tough for them, but the Advanced Greater Shadows sure seemed to do the trick!

Wolcanis was hiding in a Rope Trick, and popped out to fire off a Dazing Magic Missile. (Note: Dazing Magic Missiles can suck it. I loathe that spell.) The Shadows were right there, so one of them slid on over and reached out to touch someone. Like a Wizard who didn't go back and hide in his Rope Trick. Touch AC on a Wizard is not hard to achieve with these Shadows, so all I had to do was roll some Strength drain and.....7 off Wolcanus's Strength of 6. He was dead before he hit the ground...to turn into another Shadow.

Shadow Wolcanus was obliterated by a couple of Searing Lights from his old friends, so I guess then...

Name: Shadow Wolcanus
Race/Class: Greater Shadow
Adventure: Tide of Honor
Location: Floating over regular Wolcanus's corpse
Cause of death: Double Searing Light from his pals Avengard and Teme'reh

Hehehehehe...Double kill! >:)
