Cut off from the rest of the world by a sinister curse, the people of Willowshore face the daunting possibility of a winter on their own. Stockpiling food, preparing for the change in seasons, and dealing with an increasing number of supernatural events take up the heroes' time as they work to make sure Willowshore is ready to face winter, but the true test lies along the ancient pathway leading west out of town. By taking this so-called Pilgrim's Path, the heroes of Willowshore can travel to an ancient monastery that, they hope, will contain clues as to how to defeat the curse. Yet what dwells now in the ruins may not part with its secrets willingly…

Let the Leaves Fall is a Pathfinder adventure for four 4th-level characters. This adventure continues the Season of Ghosts Adventure Path, a four-part monthly campaign inspired by Asian horror in which a band of adventurers must protect their hometown from supernatural peril. This adventure also includes articles about a local autumnal festival and the reincarnation-focused philosophy of Sangpotshi, new magic items, spells, and rituals to be discovered, and a mix of supernatural monsters to menace your PCs.

Each monthly full-color softcover Pathfinder Adventure Path volume contains an in-depth adventure scenario, stats for several new monsters, and support articles meant to give Game Masters additional material to expand their campaign.

Rising stars

A great continuation of the AP. There are a lot of opportunities in the first chapter's content for the DM to drop in their own flavour of RP to make Willowshore really engaging for their party while they through key preparation activities. It's a nice mix of events to keep it feeling fresh and personal, with opportunities to ratchet up the tension as the heroes battle through other parts of the adventure. The quest portion is engaging and has some great lore built into it. There are plenty of combat encounters, though the vast majority appear pretty straight forward. The quest finale looks great! The discovery and lore look to be the stars in this chapter.

Be the ant, not the grasshopper.

5/5

This adventure deviates a little from the normal book 2 approach, and makes significant use of the downtime system. The core conceit is about readying the village to face winter without outside help; to do so they have to stockpile villager morale, foodstuffs, and infrastructure supplies sufficient to last them until spring. They also search for clues to what keeps them trapped in the village and its surrounding environs, have a selection of eerie events, as well as a couple of detailed ceremonies/ holidays to prepare for and share with the village. There’s also a short pilgrimage journey, and the investigation of an abandoned – but certainly not empty! – monastery.

Otherwise there’s two thematic recipes to be made at home; a few feats and spells themed around Sangpotshi, a reincarnation faith; about a half dozen each of magic items, teas, spells, and rituals; and the adventure toolbox includes several new monsters and a detailed set of the new eerie fiends called nindoru. It may have some drawbacks in a vacuum, as the first volume contained most of the detail about the town and people; if you have both it’s easy to reference back, but personally I look at the APs as a package deal anyways. Overall I really enjoyed it.

Nice bonuses!

Perhaps my favorite adventure path since war for the crown. Loved the recipes in the book, hopefully we see more!

I was wrong.

On Pathfinder Wiki, on the 4th installment (for Spring, I guess), it says the title will be "To Bloom below the Web". I'm not sure if that's a typo on their part, but should the 'B' in "Below" be capitalized?

In AP title case, prepositions of four or more letters (such as above, below, and between) should be capitalized. On the other hand, the Chicago Manual of Style says to lowercase all prepositions, regardless of length. Even though 'AP' in this context means 'Associated Press', it does look better.

Really excited to see how reincarnation is treated here.

So, does anyone who has this want to share the beasties within?

Thanks for the on-point response!

What I’m getting from it is “you just started your subscription, so be patient”

Since you seem to have gotten your PDF, how’s the adventure?

The shipping order is mostly random. I've been subbed for more than 4 years, and I have not gotten it shipped yet either. :P

As good as the first one, I'm not disappointed!

A lot of focus on community and downtime stuff spanning whole season - with party being local heroes now and helping with preparations for winter and researching into the curse.

After reading this adventure I am very excited to run this Path. My hope is to begin an in person group next fall, but maybe I'll set a goal to play these in the appropriate season.

The inclusion of recipes is wonderful! We love moon cakes so a recipe to try out is a great treat.
