A Starfinder Society Scenario designed for 1st- through 4th-level characters.
For months the Starfinder Society has sifted through the wreckage of Histora-Prime's life, working to put an end to any of Historia-Prime's remaining schemes and to make reparations for his many crimes. When Celita discovers record of a hidden complex on Absalom Station owned by Historia-Prime, she and Ixthia dispatch a team of Starfinders to investigate the complex, uncover it's purpose, and shut the site down for good. What lays within Historia-Prime's final holdout? Can any good come from the tarnished legacy Historia-Prime has left behind?
This is the first scenario in the two-part Tarnished Legacy story arc. The second scenario is Starfinder Society Scenario #5-08: Tarnished Legacy: Star Sugar Superstar!!!
The scenario picks up some of the loose ends of the Historia storyline, and does so with a nice balance of combat, social encounters and whimsy, all set in a very original and interesting adventuring location.
I had great fun playing through this my character-that-takes-himself-too-seriously, and found myself enjoying the versatile encounters as well as the 'ah-ha!' moment of discovering the underlying mystery.
The adventure does great job of tying up some old storylines while kicking off new ones, and
Forcing Soldiers and other characters that only get 4 skill points per level to do crap like "Calm the crowd down with a skill check!", is just well...I'd rather not say. It feels great being punished for spending my few skill points on skills to stay alive like Athletics and Acrobatics.
So to be honest here, I'm in melancholy mood today so that might bring down my excitement a bit. Anyway, been a while since I played this, but decided to read it and review
So there are several things I like about the scenario: old minor character coming back after small redemption, introduction of new plot hook(it is such a great idea that Historia-Prime would think in the "Well of course I preserved them for eternity, I'm a starfinder and leader of dataphiles" way.) and new character with potential. There is bit of the old good "man mystics have hard time vs specific enemy types" thing as in majority of starfinder scenarios, but encounters are quite fun "theme parks". My only real criticism is that the certain encounter mechanics were quite easy to ignore existing, like I didn't even realize as player that the second two devices would have had different effect than the first one.
Overall, its really solid intro for future juicy storylines. Good prologue scenario.
Is shoelace code really still a thing? I would have thought that it would have died off when WP skinheads crawled off to where ever they went to die out. Either way I guess this makes it more apparent that the android with purple skin and a head of amazing ruby-red hair isn't a racist skinhead. :)
