Kingmaker is the latest 45-figure set release in the award-winning Pathfinder Battles line of miniatures from Paizo Inc. and WizKids!
Pathfinder Battles: Kingmaker miniatures come in two product configurations, the Standard Booster and the Standard 8 Count Booster Brick.
Kingmaker follows the lead of popular Pathfinder Battles sets like Jungle of Despair to provide a legion of high-utility monsters and heroes suitable for any fantasy role-playing campaign. From the disciplined Oni Mage to the deadly Soul Gorger and a special visit from Jaethal an Elf Inquisitor with a dark reputation. Make sure to keep an eye out for the rare "dungeon dressing" inserts that add realism and fun to your fantasy gaming, Kingmaker is packed with the adversaries your game is looking for!
Four figure boosters! Pathfinder Battles: Kingmaker Standard Boosters contain 1 Large figure and 3 Medium or Small figures
Pathfinder Battles: Kingmaker Standard Bricks contain 8 Standard Boosters (32 figures per brick)
Pathfinder Battles: Kingmaker Standard Cases contain 4 Standard Bricks (32 Standard Boosters, 128 figures per case)
Purchasers should get no to very few duplicate figures in a brick. Buyers who purchase factory-sealed cases should get a nearly complete set of figures. (As with any randomized product, collation is not guaranteed.)
This is a review of the Wizkids Pathfinder Battles: Kingmaker set. I belong to the Pathfinder Battles case subscription, so I got 32 boosters and the 2 case incentives.
This set had a wilderness theme, with of course an emphasis on the written Kingmaker adventure path and many characters from the Kingmaker video game based on that adventure path. Lots of beasts and lycanthropes.
What I liked:
- I got at least 1 of everything (It came down to the last box for Harrim, Dwarf Cleric)
- Two creatures that have been done before are done better here: Werewolf and Naga (Swamp Naga this time around)
- The before and afters - Gargoyle and Spriggan
- Plenty of unconventional potential PC figures (Scythe wielder, dual-wielding handaxe female, female knight, Quasimodo bandit, black archer)
- "Web Lurker" (aka Ettercap) looks exactly like the picture, by which I mean purple chubby ridiculousness
What I didn't like:
- Unremarkable medium undeads - An armored skeleton and a ghost elf. BORING!
- Is it just me or does the Pitax Warden (https://paizo.com/image/content/PathfinderBattles/20181009-PitaxWarden.jpg ) look like an inactive Apostate Devil (https://paizo.com/image/product/catalog/WZK/WZK73037-37.jpg) ???
- The army ant swarm looks more like an ooze of some kind.
- Enough with the hill giants
Favorite Figure: Stag Lord - Antler Hats are in this year
Least Favorite Figure: Dwoemercat - I didn't know what it was, its poorly painted, and it doesn't look like its picture at all.
Final thoughts: This set is a great companion to have when your players are lost in the woods, and as we all know that happens a lot. 5 Stars.
P.S. I just noticed but ALL the capes are billowing like CRAZY!
There has been a lot of questions about the minis that haven't been revealed yet and since I posted them in a different thread, I figured I should add them here as well. Especially since Marco will post them here anyway. ;)
Here's the list of the remaining figures and their sizes (I don't have access to their rarity or I would list that as well). I know that a list isn't the same as seeing the minis but hopefully this will give you enough to make your decision.

These Boosters and Bricks should be showing as Unavailable until their release date of October 24th, at which they should become Available. This is separate from Case Subscriptions, which are still available even though the product is listed as Unavailable. Hope that makes sense.
My case came in today, but not my two incentives. Of the first 8 boosters opened so far, only 1 missing base and 1 off base and one slight damage to a Tristan, but the rest look amazing. There is indeed a large and small spriggan.
I would LOVE if future caped figures don't look like they're in a wind tunnel.
I assume you're referring to Ekundayo? Normally, I'd agree with you. The Adowyn mini from one of the Iconics sets is the poster girl for why the wind-blown look doesn't work most of the time. But in the case of Ekundayo, I actually like the look since it shows off his pack and quiver effectively and fits in with the hunched forward pose.
So here's a polite request: Can we tone down the iconics in the battle cases?
The Kingmaker battle case came with 50 distinct figures, 9 of which were iconics. Considering there are separate ways to purchase iconics, I don't want to see nearly 20% of my case taken up by iconics.
Similarly, I got an amazing distribution in my shipment (kudos for that):
1 Fey Dragon 4
2 Spriggan 4

TOTALS 130
But notice that, of my 130 figures, 16 are iconics. Even very specific figures such as the Stag Lord manage to have a lot of reusability in my experience. On the other hand, I rarely if ever need more than one gnome alchemist or halfling bard.
If you could manage to push the iconics out of the battle cases, or at least reduce them all to rare (I really don't mind getting one of each, but 4 gnome alchemists is a bit much), I personally would appreciate it.
I know others may feel differently, but I thought I could at least start the discussion.
