Metamagic feats

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

do you know any magic stuff or ability that reduce the level increase of a metamagic feat?

Liberty's Edge

Wayang Spellhunter trait, and the Magical Lineage trait.

Spell Perfection technically can, but that's generally beyond the scope of most questions.

The metamagic rods, of course, can.

Magical Lineage is from Ultimate Campaign, Wayang Spellhunter is from the Dragon Empires Primer, metamagic rods are from Ultimate Equipment primarily, and Spell Perfection is from the Advanced Player's Guide :)

FYI, Wayang Spellhunter has been renamed to Metamagic Master.

I'm pretty sure the name of Wayang Spellhunter has not changed. D20pfsrd just lists things under their own, generic names sometimes for legal reasons (which is perfectly reasonable) and doesn't mark them as such (which is extremely annoying). Archives of Nethys uses the correct names.

Please note that:

each apply to one specific spell only.

Additionally, Spell Perfection can't be taken until 15th level and only allows you to "apply any one metamagic feat you have to that spell without affecting its level or casting time" so it doesn't allow you to pile all your metamagic on at once for free (although it can reduce the total cost by a significant amount).

So basically, these options are good if you intend to spam a specific spell a lot (my 'wrath of the righteous' oracle, for instance, has 'Magical Lineage (Holy Smite)' as I expect that spell to be my 'bread and butter' for a good while, but I'm not certain I will apply 'Spell Perfection' to it as it will probably be running out of juice by level 15). If you are looking for something a little more varied, you are largely stuck with Metamagic Rods, which are limited in both uses per day and spell levels they can effect (also, remember if you don't have the rod in hand at the start of the round, drawing it will be a move action, meaning you probably won't be able to cast your spell that round due to the increased cast time).

Also, for the first two trait options, remember that Additional Traits feat is an option if you are going to focus on a spell you won't actually get for a good while (kinda sucks to get a trait at level 1 that won't do anything for a long time).
