I don't know if I'll create a character yet. I wanted to ask a couple of questions,

1. Is everyone level 1 or will we be starting one level below everyone else.

2. can you choose Traits from other APs player guides as one of your traits? because the group is just playing modules.

3. I've read a couple of your recruitment threads it looks like on some of the others you expanded and edited your feat selection to any Pazio source. is that the same in this one?

4. do you allow a drawback for a extra trait?

thank you.

Or you could do a Gesalt campaign. with familiar and animal companion. still have one PC. with being able to talk to both.

I think someone that wanted to play a Spirit Binder wizard would be the best choice. especially if you wanted to play a "pure" familiar rather than asking the DM to make the Familiar a little more powerful.

(as tumor familiar might be fun also, lol)

you will probably get a lot of interest hells rebels always gets a lot. ill be watching to see if you open it up. good luck.

4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 6) = 21 or 17
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 4) = 14 or 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 1) = 8 or 7
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 4) = 20 or 16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 6, 5) = 18 or 15
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 6) = 20 or 17

hmm........... I feel like I broke something. , I just noticed you didn't say drop the lowest on the 4d6? so do we? and I got a second question. I always like looking at the dm's history and I'm curious about your background if you don't consider it rude. (I just typically DM so I look at everyone's history.) I've always wanted but never played this adventure path I heard the first book in this AP is rated the #1 adventure made by Pazio by a lot of people.

do you have any problems with people that have played or DM Hells rebels?

I like it, I started a couple of new campaigns over the past two months, and have had a pretty good time. I typically choose 1-2 new players to the game every time I started a new campaign. I wanted to wish you luck because I always feel bad because I have been watching most recruitment threads, and new players I think have a rough time getting chosen. I was new to Pbp but not Dnd or Pathfinder. (mostly table games) so I started my own rather than wait to get chosen.

Good luck.

I'm interested as well. I can think of many fun concepts. your right however on the submissions. however I think that as long as you keep a list showing submissions you could put a limit on each. not more than 3-4 per sin, and after you get it "first come first serve.". there are some people that would probably change their concept anyways to fit one sin with less interrst than others.

I would go Gingerbread witch of gluttony.
or telekinetic of sloth.

I am pulling out, good luck everyone.

dotting a gunslinger/Kinetist based off Wax in the Mistborn series.

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6) + 6 = 18

the best thing to do is just look at other peoples games they are playing. on the Play by post. Just look under others aliases. The main thing to get your head rap around that it takes a long time to play the PbP vs table gaming so the only commitment is to get on daily to get to know others.

silver wolf. CG

Pact of the New Moon
Consists solely of lycanthropes sworn to Selûne, carrying out the most secretive and violent aspects of Selûne's work. Selûne grants these lycanthropes abilities other lycanthropes lack, such as an ability to speak in wolf form, also allowing her followers to invoke prayers and cast spells, rapid shapeshifting and increased strength. Was once declared heretical and anathema for espousing the Heresy of the New Moon but was renewed by Selûne's direct order in a vision to one of her lycanthrope priestesses.

I read the book with the Pact and thought it was cool.

4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 5) = 1211
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 4) = 1815
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 4) = 1513
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5, 6) = 1312
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 5, 3) = 1512
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 4) = 1513

Skinwalker ok? I was thinking about follower of Selune. either orical, inquisitor or cleric.

BTW I'll send you some of the issues I had in the guide in a email. that way you can see what you thought of them.

I'm going to withdraw, good luck.

dot i'll be using point buy.

4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 4) = 16 15
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6, 1) = 15 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 1, 3) = 8 7
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 3) = 9 8
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 4) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 3) = 13 12

I am thinking about ending this thread. I thought of so many reasons why this wouldn't work with a Pbp due to because everyone's own take on the characters. would be hard to replace characters if anyone drops. which always happens. I am going to think about It. ty for the interest.

We would be using the Pathfinder rules system with the following changes- remember these are tentative. this was only for interest. and can be changed.

1. would be using the Arcane variant for dragonlance that is a fort save every time you cast a Arcane spell (10+lvl) or become, tired (not any negatives just RP), fatigued then exhausted.

2. Sorcerers and mages are not in conflict currently however sorcerers are not allowed in the towers.

3. Divine spellcaster will no have spellcasting ability unless they have the crystal staff. (or see 4.) until they bring back the gods. (this is all divine including Druids, rangers, if there is a spell that is on both lists. those can be cast. (.i.e shaman has Charm person but as divine so it can be cast) but SU divine ablilties do work. just not spells- example paladin divine grace, smite evil, or clerics domain abilities.

4. Crystal staff can be changed in a background to be some other item made of crystal from the old gods. (but I will only choose one crystal item. out of the players chosen. it will be the person with the best background that I think would work best.)

5. kender are halflings with the following changes- they get antagonize feat for free, immunity to fear instead of fearless, lose Luck of halflings. and weapon familiarity with kender weapons.

Checking interest Alternate Dragonlance campaign- you will be using the official DL characters just with your own take on them including Class, archetypes, Traits, etc- I want people to change the characters. (except race) but stay true to the Theme and be able to explain the differences.

Everyone will start at 3rd level- then if you want to change the background to fit the character- examples-

(if I wanted to I could say that Tanis studied some spells and was a silver tongue bard and that's why the brothers of Laurana were jealous. or that Caramon was a strong sorcerer, where he had str and chr. and that was the reason Raistlin was jealous of him. or goldmoon a Warpriest or riverwind a shaman and he has the crystal staff and goldmoon the warrior. Or that sturm was honorable but more like a knight of Takhisis or even Kitiara Uth Matar came to meet them at the Inn.)

I love the characters but what would happen with each if things were a little different. Just checking interest to see if anyone else would be interested or if this would be a flop due to them being all the characters we all know and love and not wanting to change them. In which case I might consider doing War of the lance with original characters, with updates to Class and archtypes to match.

Raistlin-
Caramon-
Goldmoon-
Riverwind-
Flint-
Tasslehoof-
Sturm-
Tanis-
Kitiara Uth Matar-

Because DL is a low magic campaign it would be 30 point buy. but no one stat over 18 before racial. the rest will follow if there is enough interest. we would be playing thru the Full War of Lance with changes to match character concepts. (this campaign is just a feeler, so if you want to DOT. and give a very vague background on how you would change it. or if you want to team up with another poster. (goldmoon and riverwind or Caramon and raistlin) only I just want to see peoples take on this, and who they would choose). OR EVEN IF THIS WOULD BE INTEREST TO ANYONE.

Question- Could I choose both traits out of the players guide, I like the synergy in RP of both Unbreakable Survivor, and Ironfang Survivor. because you could use reason for Ironfang Survivor is the Unbreakable survivor. and that's how you gained renown.

Ya its really one of the best adventures ever made. In my opinion. i'll dot.

Dotting for interest CotCT, but I would need to see your rules before creating.

ya I wouldn't use that guide there are some things I would use, but overall I would stick to making adjustments to pathfinder classes. they took the info out of the RP guide that was brought out in that link but if you have ever tried to use it the channel class is over powered. I have tried to play it several times because I am a huge Robert Jordan fan. I prefer to keep things balanced, but this is something I have worked on a long time its just not ready yet, and I just wanted to see if there are other huge fans on this sight that would like to do a PbP. I would take the pathfinder adventure path iornfang invasion. and change it to work because you can change it to fit a trolloc war type setting very well.

Ty, that looks really good, let me look at it more and read through it.

banned classes:

Cleric-
Wizard-
Sorcerer-
Inquisitor-
Summoner
Witch-
Antipalidin
Arcanist-
Hunter
Shaman-
Warpriest-
medium
Spiritualist-
paladin

available classes:

available classes
Psychic-
Keneticist-
Mesmerist-
Occultist-
bloodrager
Brawler
investigator-
Skald-
Slayer-
Swashbuckler-
samurai
ninja- (originated in Seanchan gains powers through ring of shadows Ter'angreal)
Alchemist- (illuminator)
Cavalier
Gunslinger (they use dragons/firearms)
Magus
Oracle-(where most channelers come from, the oracle can choose from any spell list, but the revelations are chosen by the mysteries, which are divided by groups, example, RED, WHITE, AIEL, WINDFINDERS, BLACK TOWER, SEANCHAN, etc. instead of those listed. FLAME, TIME, etc.)
barbarian
Bard-(gleeman)
Druid- (Ogier treesinger only)
Fighter-
monk (add s spear for Aiel)
Ranger- (trapper and no spellcasting variants)
Rogue-

The idea of this Robert Jordan campaign would be that this takes place two hundred years after the last battle, Nyneave and Lan's son run the black tower which has moved to the blight, there are rumors of a man in white that travels the land working miracles, and the channeling classes have become more prevalent, so think of the one power as a sive and by there being more channelers there are more holes so the power is not as powerful as it was, there is a Council of channelers that have a neutral ground at the foot of the pillar where Taim was encased. they vote for all rules of the one power and it is represented by the five factions (Wise ones, Windfinders, white tower, black tower, Seanchan) that all swear to uphold the law, all have thier own laws to follow on their lands or they can choose to be tried at the Grey tower. the laws of the power are as follows below. wolfbrothers are a group of rangers from Mantheron that has been reborn in the Black Hills, that have skinchanger subtype. all Goblins, hobgoblins, etc are called shadowspawn. apparently after the last hundred or so years shadowspawn have started showing up all over the place and no one knows where all of them are coming from.

races-
only human but each region get different background traits
skinchangers- wolf only
Ogier-

1. ter'angreal can only be made with their mark on it and the different groups can only make so many to control the price and rarity of them
2. every group can follow their own laws in their area only. On neutral grounds the Grey tower laws take precedence
(for example the Seanchan can only take channelers in their lands, white tower requires oath rods, etc..)
3. three representatives from each group make up the Grey tower council.
4. regions can make others channeler fight depending on alliances if found on field of battle, however if a channeler requests surrender must abide by it.
5. any breaking of these rules subject to trial in the Grey tower.

some mechanical rules:

mechanical rules that are for flavor
Scribe scroll changes to Craft ter'angreal (which angreal and ter'angreal can be of any size, shape, etc. so detect magic(ter'angreal) would be how to help find it.
No potions
Lucid dreamer and dreamscapes
No craft wand or wondrous item all craft Angreal (wondrous)or Angreal (wand) or armor Angreal (armor)
No craft staff called craft S'angreal
the Aiel are part of the dragonpact and are bounty hunters/sheriffs that can track people across kingdoms.
female channlers can link it is a standard action for each female get a +1 to Caster lvl and DC up to +5. and get extra slots per link as a level of oracle equal to the number of females up to 5th. without a male to help.
Males get one extra slot per lvl for their strength.
some spells will be banned/Changed if not up to the books standard like summoning monsters banned, or flying which might be unlocked as a missing weave, or changed like Disintegrate would be balefire.that is why looking for fans that would not Power game and stay true to the ideas.

The campaign is still months away this is just seeing if people that were true fans would be interested. this is a low magic item high RP campaign. I have put a lot of thought into it to keep it balanced. I will be redoing the history and expanding on it that I typed out above. that is just a quick outline. To see what the response would be from the community.

dotting for interest, but have never done PFS adventures, I have to read the rules and get signed up, so when do you think cutoff is on this?

Dotting, but would need to see rules. I am by the book also. and not a power gamer type of way.

what sex are yall playing? anyone have any idea if they are planning romantic stuff in backstory or future with the NPCs? I am only asking because I find it funny that in this path there are 3 females ncps but only 1 male. I didn't know if any of yall wanted to "fight" over one, or will it be a "Dibbs!". if we have 3 females Sandru would be like, yay! since this is my first play by post I didn't know if there has ever been a inter party fight (lol) In any of these. I just wanna try to build around it to avoid conflicts because no one has presented their finished character yet as far as I know.

Tarondor if you want to go skill monkey ill change my inquisitor to a mage class that fits. you wanna do that?

ok so it sounds like we have- out of the 5 that have spoken up. so I think we are good with healing then, weak on caster (wiz), ok on melee, and little weak on skill monkey that sound about right? I would lean then to sam playing the tengu.

Ammon- Alchemist
Daedalus- Warpriest
Chubbs- Inquisitor
Colin- Cavalier
Sam- tengu ranger/monk, or Fighter/oracle

ya I saw that too on casters, so I will be going a inquisitor (sin eater) of Irori, with military tradition (naginata), background younger sibling of Ameiko. that should give us at least a little healing, we will still need a main healer though.

Colin if your going cavalier, maybe a samurai? Ronin. for the more Asian flair?

I will be leaning towards a fighter class probably. because this will be my first game in this format I assume it will be easier like dnd to play.

I had a mechanical question.

  • 1) do you allow catch off guard feat to use hilt of crossbow, musket, rapier, other end of polearm etc..

I would be interested in any AP, I have never done a PBP adventure, any experience would be welcome.
