RJ Wheel of Time pathfinder

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm working on a RJ wheel of time conversion that takes place after the last battle I am currently creating it so it is not finished, however I would say I'm about 50% done with it, but have not completed the formatting. I am placing it in the thread just to see what people think and whether or not going by the info that is completed if it has good potential. I am doing this during my free time which is not a lot. so it is taking some time. eventually I am hoping to do a total conversion of the ironfang adventure path. and then go on from there to other AP's. to do a F2F table group. but may be interested later to do some PbP for playtesting.

please let me know, any of your comments are appreciated. however I have a vision for this and my table group I prefer to under power than to start overpowering the info.

Brin makes his way around the room trying not to look.

what is this world coming to; cutting up people and handing them out to people as food. Cookie looks up at him, No, No what I did was way different. I mean I didn't hand it out to people.... at least..

Brin thinks the gods must be testing him.

In a daze he heads over to Ilsa and tries to examine the half filled pipe.

@Vort- you notice that one of the patrons as you leave to go towards the Professors house also gets up and follows your group down the street.

Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

The professors house is a two story affair with white washed wood siding. a large open patio covers and wraps around the house. A little under disrepair you can see that several spots might need work but it still a imposing house. As you get close you see the professor, and the Doctor come out of the house. (you have no idea where Togar is currently, and half of yall haven't met the professors daughter Kendra.)

the professor comes out and gives warm welcomes to everyone including hugs. or simple hand claps depending on what your characters would consider appropriate.

@Alex and Grethel- yall can join or not anytime depending on your availably this weekend. but I thought it would give a easy out for a few days.

This is a interest check before officially opening a Recruitment thread. my idea is that I can run the jade regent as a traveling Circus troupe instead of a merchant caravan. the theme of this is that a circus group with roots from fireworks and dancing people dressed in colorful clothes. holding puppets entertaining people but under it all a thin veneer of menace. I will be changing the core 4 characters that you can build a relationship with into the following (Sandru- the ringmaster- mesmerist)(Shalelu - Knife thrower)(Ameiko - Gisha)(Koya - Fortuneteller) with full descriptions and history's to come. so I'm looking for Acrobats, Blind fighters, animal trainers, knife throwers, Firework technicians, flame eaters, illusionist, Killer clowns, etc....... I am looking for the oddballs, the weirdoes and the loners that need to be a part of a circus family. Duo characters submissions will even be welcome.

to give idea to the rules-

- Characters are level 1
- Average starting wealth
- All Classes allowed
- Standard races only
- you can ignore race requiremnts as perquisite for feats without being the race (if it matches your character not for gaming purposes example some goblin feats work great if you want a flame eater.)
- NO third party publishing sources allowed!
- All other Paizo books will be allowed
- 2 traits one of which has to be a campaign trait from the jade regent players guide. You have a drawback for another trait but must be written into your background.
- 20 point buy with no stat above 18 or below 8
- Recruitment will be based more on RP than class preferences
- We will be using background skills.
- max hp first level
- Please pay more attention to your background than your build. I am far more interested in who you are than what you are.
- evil characters will even be considered but only in terms of evil greed, lust, power, etc. not betrayal to your group. your character must be loyal to his friends or cohorts.
- Will be using escalated Fear rules in Horror adventures.
- Gunslingers and firearms are welcome and will be used.
- anyone who wants to take Disadvantageous Deformities from (ogrekin) can get a free feat not necessary to roll choose one that fits your idea for your character. (Fragile get -2 to con)

I will also be recruiting people or to replace people at the end of each book and work them in. With first preference to those in the story already but that will give people a chance to leave or come back or replace missing players. if we lose people in the campaign I will just adjust the CR encounters until the end of the book. along with that, any character changes that someone wants to do they can have a opportunity at the end of each book. I am looking for 5-6 players to start.

Background:

1) I'd like 5+ points that capture the concept and story of the character. More are welcome, but no less than five.
2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.
3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC. I'll come up with a third that both the character and player aren't aware of, in hopes of shocking surprises within the storytelling.
4) 3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc. I'd like at least one enemy in a set of three or four, with no more than two for a set of five. PLEASE consider the players reference guide for ideas.
5) Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.
6) I'd like you to include with your submission a fear or paranoia that causes your character to shiver, cower, or panic. Anything from spiders to unexplained happenstance, but I'm sure you'll all come up with some awful stuff on your own.
7) I would like to know what performance you will specialize in (your signature move or performance), preference on characters will be given to whose feats, traits, skills, and class directly show what type of performer you are. (example a knife thrower taking blind fight would make sense with acrobatics, but a knife thrower that takes cosmopolitan with history knowledge would not.)

Bot carawyn-

Carawyn shares all she found with the rest of you, I cant Bot her speech. so please pretend. I tried but it kept looking wrong.

Remove fear would mitigate both effects. bloodmoon isn't technically a fear effect (weak curse) but because its a horror setting I would allow it.

- There is a free feat available to any who fulfill the prerequisites. Please have a reason for it in your background, if only a mention. Osirionology
-There is an excellent listing of the ancient Osirion gods in book two of the AP. Given that, anyone who has Ancient Osirioni among their languages, may worship one of these deities. I will provide you the information you need.
- Please pay more attention to your background than your build. I am far more interested in who you are than what you are.
- in addition to traits listed in the players guide there will also be one additional trait. (Ancient tradition of Osirion)- benefit only casters can take it. You have a red dot on your head if you are arcane and blue if divine. you will gain +1 to dip and +1 intimidate, and one of these can be a class skill. due to the nature of the dot it cannot be concealed but is well resected because it shows formal training or approval from a known school of Osirion tradition.

Adventure start-

a caravan heading toward Wati to participate in the exploration of the necropolis. that can only be explored for a few days. that has been closed to the populous for a long time, researchers and explorers are all heading there for a chance. all the characters will start off by the fire introducing themselves.

I thought everyone moved to the back too. but then spetimus posted front so I'm going with the assumption everyone moved back to the front of the building. if you don't move your character ill have to rule the assumption of where you are at based on your post.

on everyone's next round they get a +5 bonus perception to notice the creatures that Carawyn points out. because until they attack/cast/etc you don't auto see them.

@Berenice yes. reroll perception +5 bonus. to see the dc 25 one.

i'll be posting tonight the enemies moves to give Laurent 24 hours.

BTW @aldren Good job, I use the Law stat on hells rebels. my table game when we played got f!~%ed a lot by snitches.

1. 20 point buy

9. you can choose one "special" item at character creation. (see below)
10. choosing 5-6 players
11. once a day post min except weekends try best you can.

I am looking for Role-players with solid backgrounds. I am providing additional Info for that purpose. the idea is that you and the party are wandering vampire/supernatural/witch hunter heroes in a gothic horror setting. you can choose to have run inns with some of the other inmates at the prison. or base your background knowing some of the others in the wagon crew (I am providing enough info for good backgrounds be not enough to spoil anything). You can look at carrion crown players guide for some additional info. because Professor Lorrimar was the founder of this slayer group along with Dr. Finhast. (think of this group like John Carperters Vampires a elite group that has worked together for awhile.) your group just captured the Maragore Twins and are taking them to Revargo Prison, and to also visit one of the founders of the group Professor Lorrimar. The group has been on extensive foray and have not been into town for about 6 years. The campaign will start in a wagon train consisting of 2 wagons. with one of the wagons holding the prisoners. I welcome anyone who has played the Carrion crown because I have changed enough where there will be surprises but kept enough for fans to also enjoy playing the adventure. I loved the prisoners so much I wanted to create a adventure that really dug into and expanded their role. I am also a fan of Supernatural hunters with unique weapons that can be used. those that have played this before can use the Professor or Kendra in their backgrounds if they wish.

Hunters:

Dr. Finhast old male human Alchemist LN- one of the core founders the Genius mind of Dr. Finhast is behind the weapons that are issued. a old man that is near retirement age and the capture of the twins was his final adventure he is planning on retiring at Revargo with the Professor.

Torgar Redfist male half orc ranger guide CG- A scared Half orc with tattoos rolling all around his body that he claims to protect him from evil spirts Torgar prefers to not wear sleeves to show off his massive arms.

Crissa Finhast Female human Investigator Gravedigger NG- Daughter to the good Dr, she has been a doting daughter all her life. she has certain daddy issues though, she has had numerous romances in the caravan and seems to crave attention.

Prisoners:

The Splatterman- (a human male mage of some sort, real name Professor Hean Faramin one of the groups first captures was actually one of the Professors and Doctors friends that after a encounter with a Demon became obsessed with names and how that they have power over people, slowly writing their name in blood then killing them.)

Mosswater mauler- (male Dwarf Ispan was a renown master smith that caught his wife in infidelity and smashed her skull with a hammer, when he realized his mistake he tried to bring her back by reconstructing her skull but could not find a piece, so he went around killing people trying to find a perfect piece to fit in hers.)

The Drummer of Spinecastle- (human male Bard that with his rhythm playing the drums much like a slaver on board a boat caused people to fall into a almost trance like state. he took over a castle that many people died trying to get into by walking into the moat, falling off upper stories, etc.)

Duke Trath Illborn (a male half-elf that started a cult worshiping him as a reborn hero called The Order, that practiced black magic and summoning the other leaders were not found)

Maragore Twins- (two brothers that look just alike that had a terror spree on is a rogue and the other a barbarian, that many believe a lycanthopes with some of the ways their victims were found torn apart as if fed on.)

Items choose 1:

1. 4 doses of Juju Salt (as Juju orical Reminder of Death (Su):)

2. Amulet of Protection from Evil- (use once week for 10 minutes)

3. A masterwork weapon that is either a repeating Light or heavy X-bow (4 bolts) with a modular hilt that you can pullout that is a mwk Kukuri, as a free action. it is a move action to to replace it. the X-bow cannot be used until replaced. weapon can be enchanted with money as Double weapon.

4. Like the X-bow. you can have a light or heavy mwk Mace/Pick, by pressing a button on the haft the mace has a pointed end that pops out as a free action, it is a move action to replace. the mace cannot be used until the pick has been replaced. enchanted as double weapon.

5. Holy book that can be used to cast Turn Undead DC 15 only once before consumed. Any class can use it.

As the Illusion disappears you hear a little bit of laughing coming from around the corner and then a Halfling steps into view. You immediately recognize him from the Crowd as the Halfling that started the whole thing. "Hahah, Rex old boy you should have seen your face! and the rest of yall!" he says as he points and laughs. "Well just be glad that I took the liberty of walking around this place and making sure yall went being followed that is something you will have to do on your own. You can never be to carful." the old man whezzes his lungs barely able to contain the laughing.

"Ba at your service" once he calms down he introduces himself. and calmly shuts the curtain back to where they were. "This everyone, is my current asscociate, that I have been waiting for to arrive. even if that was not HOW I was expecting him to arrive."Rexus says after a moments hesitation. shooting his associate a definite annoyed expression.

@aldren your SM check didn't notice anything and neither did the perception. Rexus was not faking his worry or was aware of what was going on.

@aldren and lirana- I have been thinking about it so this is the rule of thumb. you only have to use your selective channel on people actively engaged with enemy's I think that would be the best way to do it. (example only laurant and septimus are engaged. Those would be the selective channel either healing or harm. and let people use move actions to "get outta the way"). unless in small spaces. I think most people would leave out of the combat area that are not fighting. because we are using group initiatives . that should take care of that, and the opposite of that the group could use the move action to get into lirana healing range. but then they would be grouped for AOE spells.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm waiting on Laurent's action in crowd.

- then we will get to our first real combat soon. remember to use descriptive terms. Depending on how this fight and some of the others goes will depend on whether or not we will keep the format. I'll be grouping initiatives and only bot if 24 hours pass without responses on combat. I will hope that during combat we can try to post more often but things happen. so there will be no order and everyone can post at their leisure. I feel like in the opening there were very good things said and gave people a lot to build on.

Berenice don't forget to post your action in the crowd.

"The avalanche? is that a fat joke?, crushed by a great weight?, I try diets, but do you know how much you have to cheat it is keep this physique." Brin said with a smile rubbing his belly.

"Or if we have more uniforms we could disguise ourselves where we look "official" where less people might not try to hurt us. and a fake warrant couldn't hurt. I'm up for suggestions."

A large city close to the northern border of Cheliax. The city of Kintargo straddles the northeastern shore of the Yolubilis River and a large island named Argo that sits in the river’s mouth. While the Yolubilis provides for Kintargo’s economy by floating ships and turning waterwheels, the city sits downriver from various clay deposits, farms, mines, salt springs, and smelters. Sediments in the water give it a characteristic silvery shine when the sun strikes it at dawn and dusk. This, combined with the prodigious run of silver salmon that use the river every year to spawn and the use of silverflecked stone in many of the public buildings’ facades, has given the settlement its most common nickname— the Silver City. Kintargo’s independent spirit is founded in its selfsustaining economy. The Yolubilis River provides ample eels and freshwater trout in addition to the silver salmon run, while the cold, deep waters of Nisroch Bay teem with cod, shellfish, and tuna. In the foothills of the Menador Mountains, quarries yield granite and the city’s iconic silver-flecked stone, while actual silver mines produce the bulk of the precious metal exported from the city.

Until recently, Kintargo was ruled by Lord-Mayor Jilia Bainilus, an outspoken voice against House Thrune who was a master of walking the edge between Chelish loyalty and blatant rebellion. But two weeks ago the Lord-Mayor mysteriously vanished and just today a new Lord-Mayor has arrived to take her place. Barzillai Thrune is the lord-mayor now and folks are not happy about it. The fact that his appointment is official, handed down from Queen Abrogail II herself, does little to silence the mutters of discontent over his sudden claim over the city. Once again people are starting to talk about the times past when a group that called themselves the "Silver Ravens" came to the defense of the city to help the oppressed and downtrodden

"I am Kintargo’s lord-mayor, yet Kintargo is not my city. Nor is it Cheliax’s city. Kintargo belongs to no one person, but to all who live here and make it the greatest city in Cheliax. We call it the Silver City not only for the gleaming waters of the Yolubilis, but for its purity. Kintargo is unique in the nation of Cheliax in this way. We are not the nation’s largest city, nor its strongest. We may not have Westcrown’s history, Ostenso’s naval superiority, Corentyn’s trade dominance, or Egorian’s power, but nor do we have Westcrown’s decay, Ostenso’s violence, Corentyn’s slaves, or Egorian’s damnations. Kintargo is our own, and as Cayden Cailean is my witness, I intend to do all that I can to ensure our silver shall never tarnish under Thrune’s rotten touch!"
—Lord-Mayor Jilia Bainilus, giving a speech two days before she vanished

Yesterday citizens went around town posting flyers and announcing a gathering in the courtyard today at high sun. The announcement goes on to say the new high lord will be giving a speech and announcing some new laws will take effect immediately and it is highly recommended that all attend.
The announcement is due to begin within the hour and already a large crowd has begun to gather and most of the people here are not happy. A thinly veiled attempt at hiding the anger and frustration that most of the citizens feel.

Only a week since High Inquisitor Paracount Lord-Mayor Barzillai Thrune took power in the city of Kintargo, has passed. His power was cemented during the Night of Ash only ten days ago. A night of arson, accidents, and rumored murders. There has been no proof that his agents have done these deeds, but it was too large of a coincidence to be ignored. On top of that, the new lord-mayor has made seven proclamations that have incensed the people. The dottari and hellknights roam the streets in greater numbers. Rumors of kidnappings also spread among the throng of Kintargan people. Hope seems only for the ignorant.

Some people, loyal the Thrice-Damned House of Thrune, have shown their full support of the new lord-mayor. They have banded together with Barzillai's blessing and formed the Chelish Citizen's Group, a group of militia who believe in House Thrune's cause. Others have varying reasons to cry out against the martial law. The anarchists who seek to watch chaos unfold, the Kintargan Partisans who rankle at Chelish ruling over their city, the economic conservatives who are afraid of the new proclamations hurting business, and advocates of democracy who feel embittered at having no elected leaders. No matter the reasons, one of the largest protests to Barzillai's rule is set to happen on this day. The crowds will gather in Aria Park, right in front of the Kintargo Opera House. Brazillai has claimed the building as his own dwelling and shut down the public performances.

Even with the cobblestones of Argent Avenue and the foliage of Aria Park still wet from the morning's light rain, dozens of Kintargans have gathered along the façade of the Opera house to protest Barzillai's presence. The city's new leader was appointed by Her Infernal Majestrix, Queen Abrogail II, in the wake of the previous lord-mayor's sudden flight from the city -- an event that still has local rumormongers whispering furiously. In a scant seven days, Paracount Thrune has instituted martial law, a curfew, and seven outlandish and polarizing proclamations. These actions and more have called many of Kintargo's dissatisfied citizens here on this overcast morn. There's been no sign yet of Barzillai Thrune himself, and the opera house's doors remain tightly closed -- as they have since the man chose the landmark as his new home -- but judging by the growing sound of the protesters, he surely can't ignore the scene on the streets below much longer.

I have taken the liberty to personalize the start of the campaign with some of your backgrounds as Ideas.

@Lirana- Memories of your uncle being taken away still haunt you as you see a squad of hellknights pass down a street near you. One of them stops and turns nudging his friend with his elbow. He walks up and takes off his helmet. At once you notice the ice blue eyes and blonde hair. His innocent face is almost at odds with the fact that you know that a hellknight must kill a demon to get the armor. He looks towards you and says "hello Madam, I see you are heading towards the meeting at Opera house." Reaching out his hand as if to take it to kiss it.
You know that Cathias is planning on meeting you at the protest.

knowledge (local) DC 10:
The hellkight is of the Order of Torrent. Lictor Octavios Group

@Septimus- You are standing at the corner of the street near the opera house. Orfeo is standing at your side looking bored. You were assigned to watch for any troublemakers or pickpockets by Watch Captain Arcan, but you feel it in the air that there is a tension in the crowd. Like a stick that is about to break. Your many years of experience giving you a intuition into these kind of things. When you see Gioia walk though the crowd towards you. Moving close to you. She try's to give you a hug and a kiss you on the cheek. "long time , stranger. Why haven't you been by in a while."

If you are trying to ignore Gioia. DC 10 if you want to give her your full attention DC 15

Perception DC 10 or 15:
Through the crowd you can see the watch captain at the doors of the Opera house. You also notice that along with a couple of watchmen which are way to few for a crowd this size. You notice a couple of the Chexlaxen Citizens group are moving within the crowd.

@Monsoure- "Look sir, I don't see why we have to be here. I can tell already that this is not the place for a gentleman to be" Beppe said, as he looked around the courtyard. I think we will be much better off, maybe at the wonderful restaurant we past three streets back, you know the one." As Beppe started to dry wash his hands looking nervous.

Perception DC 10:
You can see a hellknight guard talking to a beautiful young red head outside the courtyard. You can also see several guards standing around the perimeter. One looking particularly bored and one talking to a lady you recognize as a jewelry merchant the seems way beyond his station.
