In Andromeda, Rommey's (the ship's AI) android acted independently (out of contact with the ship, Then linked back up when in contact. That would work. Interesting idea. I was thinking about playing either a techie (mad scientist, much like Scorpius from the Farscape series) or a straightforward Brick (tough, strong, not the best thinker)

background:
Chillmyst doesn’t remember her parents. They vanished before she knew them. Whether they died or abandoned her, she doesn’t know. She would likely have followed them into nothingness, but for the appearance of her “talent”. Before that she wandered from place to place on the lowest level of Hive, begging, stealing and staving. But things changed. Shadows seemed to like her. And her sorcerous talent became manifest. She soon was working for one of the lower class gangs in the lower hive. Although she wasn’t a rogue, she could sneak better than many of them. The shadows liked her. And her spells gave her an advantage. She prospered, in a fashion, and moved up a level. She sort of looked for her parents but found no trace, except that her mother likely had similar abilities to her. And there was a disturbing rumour that their disappearance had something to do with the cult of Kalai, the devourer. If she had a flaw, it was that she developed a contempt for religion. Her favourite target was the church of Kalai, which she would steal from worshipers and vandalise what she could. But the other faiths were also targeted from time to time. She mocked their faith and seemed to have a charmed life in escaping a response. The good times didn’t last. She never found out exactly what happened but it seems that her gang stole the wrong thing or knifed the wrong person. Or maybe it was something else. But guards pounced on her gang and took them apart. Her friends and current life ended in the length of a quiet afternoon. Chillmyst was the only one to escape, with the shocking assistance of an oracle of Kalai. All he said in explanation was “Kalai has a purpose for you, little vandal”. In horror, she fled. And fell into a depression. No friends, no allies, few prospects and the attention of a god whose church she had been victimising for some time. She went over her activities against the church. Did they let her get away with it? Were they letting her get away with it? What did this god want with her? She could dismiss the oracle as a raving fool, but he spoke with such certainty. And amusement. She went to a bar and proceeded to get very drunk. Chillmyst does not remember much after that, except something about her toasting the end of all gods, maybe talking to the shadows and them answering, a big fight and losing that. She wakes up in a dark hole, battered and bruised. appearance: Chillmyst is a halfling female with black hair and eyes. She is 23 years old and is 2ft, 9 inches tall (on the short size for a halfling) and about 28 pounds (so is slight of build). She has a habit of using Prestidigitation to create an illusion of a shadowy coin, which she flips between her fingers.
It was a dark and stormy night in the big city. I was finishing up some paperwork, with a glass of dwarven whisky to help the process. The chief said my reports were always the most interesting. I'm not certain if that was a compliment.
Here is my character, Agatha, an Orc witch
Background
Agatha is somewhat taciturn, using few words. She is looking for a place and believes the watch is that place. She considered it her new tribe, in a way. She is quite knowledgeable in matters arcane, occult and matters legal. In her time she is also conversant in the society she lives in. She keeps a sickle, a last remnant of her tribe, and is covered in tattoos and scars. She looks quite intimidating, but she is oddly kind. Her familiar, Orco, is a monkey who found her. She is not certain who her patron is specifically, but thus far she has had few issues. Criminals worst nightmare. An Orc with a badge
Couple of ideas
A cleric (or a fallen paladin) seeking a renewal of faith
An old adventurer wanting an honourable fight
An idealistic youngster
A drunken warrior
And so on. The village is poor, the need is great, the cause is worthy and the prospects are bad.
Female Orc
BTW, my character's full name is Lucas "Cardshark" Belltower. :) And Cardshark will be happy to sell you his discount ammunition. With free sample.
I will finish up my equipment and, and put up my profile. backstory tonight (early afternoon here) and put up my profile Just thought of another fictional character I could be like, a bit Milo Minderbinder from catch 22
Female Orc
Fuzzfoot, can you give us a little bit of information about the world at the moment? A timeline of the last few years, who is at war with who at the moment, and in the past. You mentioned that Andoran has been conquered and Varisia is fighting Cheliax. This would help me characters back story. At the moment he is a refugee from Andoran, handed to a boat in a desperate beach evacuation, and has never seen his family again. Left in Absalom, he fell into crime, was caught and deported to Osirian. There he managed to get an apprenticeship with a gunsmith/alchemist for a few years, but his master was then killed in either a bombing raid (if the war is there) or a gang war (he was collateral damage). Case one: On the street again, Cardshark joined the local military, getting in as a supply clerk. He soon made a sideline business for himself. Case two: On the street again, Cardshark joined the gang opposing the one that killed his master, making guns for them and acting like a quartermaster. He also learned to smuggle guns around as the local authorities were not impressed by the sudden upsurge in violence. The gangs were broken up, and he found himself impressed into the local military. He soon made a sideline business for himself. He got his nickname due to his incompetence at card games. It started as a joke, but he liked it. After all, that's not how he makes his money. Cardshark comes off as very mercenary, everything has a cost and a price. He believes in completing contracts and tries to distance himself from others. Oddly, he does become rather loyal to customers, trying to find them the best deal, and he acts as a go-between a bit. He hates Chelaxians. A lot. A chelaxian unit called the Devils Own regiment chased down and killed his parents.
