So a medical kit is 5gp and my armor and weapons cost over 10gp. So any self respecting dwarf is NOT going to buy a first aid kit over chain armor. I am assuming a clan dagger is free, but I will pay 2gp if it is not.

I guess there may be the standard -2 to -4 roll without it??

When asked if he had any healing potions Billi said no, but I have plenty of beer.

This is Smiles-a-lots submission a human, varisian, thuamaturge. To prevent her background from becoming a novel I took a different approach.

Thanks for running this. Good luck with your recruitment and good gaming!

General Feats:

Class Feats & Abilities:
• Esoteric Lore (◆)- You become trained in Esoteric Lore, a special lore skill that can be used to Recall Knowledge regarding haunts, curses, and creatures of any type, but that can't be used to Recall Knowledge of other topics. Unlike a normal Lore skill, you use Charisma as your modifier on Esoteric Lore checks
• Exploit Vulnerability (◆) - You know that every creature, no matter how obscure, has a weakness. By identifying and empowering the right object, you can strike down even the most resilient of monsters.
• Diverse Lore - You can take a –2 penalty to your check to Recall Knowledge with Esoteric Lore to Recall Knowledge about any topic, not just the usual topics available for Esoteric Lore. Additionally, when you succeed at your check to Exploit a Vulnerability, compare the result of your Esoteric Lore check to the DC to Recall Knowledge for that creature; if that number would be a success or a critical success, you gain information as if you had succeeded at the Recall Knowledge check.

Personality:

Zelda, in the manner of most young woman born who are doted on by their fathers, tends to be brash and headstrong. The willowy young woman appears to be driven by her youthful arrogance, vanity as well as a thirst for recognition. However, she is friendly, outgoing, and gregarious by nature believing that it is better to make a friend than an enemy. Those who know her best appreciate Zelda's wry sense of humor and know her as a lover of debate and dancing.

Appearance:

Zelda is tall for a woman with a lithe but well-muscled build, she looks older than her years and carries herself with an air of confidence. Her features are proportionate and pleasing, she possesses a straight nose and a full mouth, that always appears as if she is about to laugh. Her large, green, eyes framed by long, full lashes set off a gaze that is both knowing and penetrating. Her dusky skin is as flawless and smooth as well creamed coffee and accentuates the auburn locks of hair that appear to reflect the light around it. Her golden brown hair is long and flowing, cascading down to the middle of her back with an ocher colored scarf holing it back from her face. The slender long-limbed beauty is most often dressed in vibrant colors with a long Kapenia worn across her shoulders.

Background:

5+ points
1. Zelda Varro is the only surviving, and over indulged, child of Zhan and Belka, Varisian travelers off the open road. They migrated along the Dawn Shadow Path peddling their tonics, elixirs, and herbal remedies following the Caravan Route between Korvosa and Kaer Maga.
2. The family’s wanderings ended in Korvosa seven years ago when Zelda’s older brother, Zario, was abducted as the pair took a short cut through a back alley. Zelda escaped and left her brother to his fate.
3. Zelda’s parents refused to leave the city without their son. They sold their wagon and used the coin to buy a rundown building in the Bridgefront Ward where her father runs an apothecary and acts as a fence for one of the local Sczarni thugs. While her mother ran a small fortune telling business in the back making coin off the superstitions of their neighbors.
4. Zelda’s mother never got over the loss of her son. Overtime she became a drunkard and drug addict using alcohol and the Shiver in an attempt to wipe away the memory of her loss hoping to find Zario in her dreams. Her mother eventually sold the Harrow Deck that had been in the family for generations in order to afford her drugs.
5. Before her decline Zelda’s mother taught her how to read the Harrow and when her mother’s business began to flounder Zelda took over realizing she had a gift. Zelda gives advice in riddles, aphorisms, and the metaphors of the Varisian people.
6. Her uncle taught her the dance of the Kapenia an ancient Varisian fighting style.
Two goals
1. Find out what happened to her brother so his soul can be at rest and her parents can find peace.

2. Recover her mother’s Harrow Deck or earn her own.
Extra: Stop Lamm’s enslavement of the orphans of Korvosa and put an end to the shiver trade.
Two secrets1. In an effort to help her mother find Zario in her dreams Zelda suggested that she take the Shiver introducing her mother to the drug.
2. Her brother, Zario, is still alive [Kept from the PC].
People1. Irronku – Sczarni thug who has strong armed Zelda’s father, Zhan, into fencing items for him.
2. Dary – A local guardsman who frequents the shop. Zelda thinks he comes around trying to find evidence of her father’s illicit deals. In reality he has a crush on the intriguing Varisian girl.
3. Nicarlo – Varisian minstrel, merchant, and rumor monger. He is Zelda’s only uncle and he wanders throughout Varisia stopping by Korvosa every few years with a new story of adventure. He taught Zelda how to dance.
4. Thennewik, Massi, and Urrissa residents of Bridgefront whom Zelda has helped with a Harrow reading. Thennewik (found lost ring), Massi (told not to marry her fiancé), Urrissa (found her missing brother).
5. Vilma (Rival// enemy) A medium and Harrow reader who also resides in Bridgefront. The folk of Bridgefront variously hate, fear or revile this bitter, old woman. She blames Zelda for the turning the Varisian residents of the ward against her when Zelda revealed that Vilma was behind the recent outbreak of blood veil in the ward.
6. Zario (brother abducted and believed dead) He was a quit witted, strong willed lad. Who is to say what he might have become.
7. Zhan (Father) A worn out merchant who does his best to provide for his family but can never seem to get ahead. In addition to running the apothecary he acts as a fence for one of the Sczarni thugs. This man dotes on his daughter and in his eyes she can never do any wrong.
8 Belka (Mother) Belka was a warm caring woman who always had a song on her lips and a wide smile. After the loss of her son she tried to find answers from the Harrow and found none. In desperation she sought solace in her dreams eventually becoming addicted to the drug shiver. She a broken shell of her former self.
9 Rogar Blackthorn Minor noble and Massi’s former fiancé. Blames Zelda for breaking up his relationship and is making plans to strike at Zelda.
Key memories
1. Her brothers abduction: Zelda’s most painful memory is of the night her brother was kidnapped. It was quick and brutal, one moment they were taking a short cut down a deserted alley. The next moment Zelda had a sack thrust over her head, and was being carried away by rough hands. She and her brother were soon separated and Zelda was put in a small stone room with another girl.

The room was bare except for a small barred window about six feet off the ground and a bucket filled with excrement. She could tell by looking up and out the window that she was in a basement. As the door closed Zelda heard one of the men say, “We’ve got a few hours before we deliver this lot. Got a good bunch here we sho…..” the man’s voice was lost as the door closed behind him. In spite of everything that happened Zelda found herself exhausted and soon collapsed into a deep sleep on the stone floor of her cell.

She awoke on the stone floor cold and whimpering, rain poured down outside the window to his cell, and flashes of lightning light up the cell every so often. She continued to lay there feeling hopeless when the door to her cell is opened. One of her jailers entered the room, with an evil grin and grabbed the other girl. “Time for me to have a little fun,” her jailer said. As he dragged the screaming girl from the room he looked back at Zelda with a sneer and said, ”You’re next moth.”

Zelda stood there frozen, not sure what was going on, but even her young mind is certain it is something twisted and evil. A bit of inspiration came to her and she moved quickly, afraid that her captor would return soon. Without hesitation she removed her cloths, balled them up and threw them out of the barred window. Next, she overturned the bucket of excrement and moved it over to the window so she could stand on it. It took every bit of self-control to do what she did next, she bent over and smeared the waste from the bucket on her shoulders, chest, and hips. For lubrication, she thought. Using the bucket she was barely able to reach the bars on the window and pull herself up. Thanks to the lubrication she was able to painfully squeeze her way through the bars.

She was fevered and delirious when she found her parent’s wagon, unable to convey what had happened for several days.

2. Being taught to dance by her Uncle: Nicarlo stood, shirtless, in the warm sunlight, the sweat glistened off his lean but well-muscled frame. He remained stationary for several seconds with his scarf draped around his back. With little warning he exploded into motion, his scarf a blur, as he went through the basic forms again; Apple Blossoms in the Wind quickly turned to The Dove Takes flight which flowed smoothly into Twining Vines . He stopped abruptly and said with an encouraging smile, ”Just like that. Use your hips.”

3. First Harrowing: ”Let’s see if we can find your ring,” Zelda announced dramatically as she looked at the spread of cards before her. Unexpectedly her eyes roll back and she is taken away in a vision:
She sees the back alleys of the Bridgefront Ward, where, nestled between rows of buildings of similar size and disrepair, is a narrow two story structure. With a tavern on the first floor, a small brewery in the basement, and living quarters on the second story. Above the door hangs a sign depicting a man being hanged with his legs kicking and an empty mug on the ground below him, At the top of the sign in faded yellow lettering it reads, The Dancing Drunk. On the bottom of the sign is the more recently added, No Dancing Allowed!

From the outside the tavern looks dilapidated, cheerless and uninviting. Soft wooden planks and oak details make up most of the building's outer structure. It's difficult to see through the dusty windows, but the gloominess from within can be felt outside.

A heavy wooden door is the only entrance to the tavern and groans when it opens. Upon entering the tavern it appears in as dire condition on the inside as it is on the outside. Dark squared, wooden beams support the upper floor with rows of small, molten candles dangling from the beams. The common room is long and narrow the walls are bare, with the plaster peeling off in places. The bar is on the left and runs the length of the room with several small tables running along the right wall along with a stone fireplace. Along the far wall are two doors, one leads to the kitchen the other to the stairs. The overall layout gives the room a cramped feel.

The tavern is almost completely abandoned the few who are here are the dredges of society and lost souls. Behind the bar is a large, stooped, overweight bartender who is routinely coughing into a dirty rag. He makes no effort to acknowledge those who enter the bar. He stops and takes a ring out of his pocket to examine it.

The young Harrower’s eyes flutter and she looks down at the cards before her. Exhausted, she looks at the man across from her, ”You’ll find your ring in the pocket of the bartender of the Dancing Drunk Tavern in Bridgefront.”

4. Second Harrowing: ”Tell me what you seek,” Zelda asked the petite woman sitting across from her.

The small woman hesitates for a second and answered in a strong voice, ”I want to know … umm … should I marry Aram.”

With what she hopes is an enigmatic smile Zelda gives a vague, ”We shall see,” as she begins to spread the Harrow Cards on the worn table in, three rows of three, the traditional Tapestry spread.

Zelda inspects the spread, ”The first row speaks of the past. With a slight pause she continues,” I see a woman with a bruise on her face crying.”

With a slight flush she relays what she sees, ”I see a woman hiding scars beneath her dress.”

Looking at the third row she sternly pronounced, ”The future holds death.”

5. Last Harrowing:
Zelda looked down, as if suspended in the air, at the scene that unfolded before her:
The gaunt young man laid in a pool of his own vomit and blood, with a rather large figure looming over him. The young man looked up at the figure towering over him. Zelda listens and is surprised by the towering man’s words, “You bare the mark of The Lucky Drunk.”

The prone figure quietly replied to the man, “Unless he marks people with blood, piss, and vomit you’ve got the wrong man.”

Zelda almost throws up as she is brought back to the present. She centers herself before she announces, ”Your brother can be found with a priest of Cayden Calean."

FearZelda has come to understand that death is just the next part of our spirits journey towards happiness and fears becoming an undead never to have rest.

Here for your healing consideration, a cloistered cleric of Sarenrae!
I worry she'll die if she even hears the word melee but maybe one of the more solid individuals won't mind getting her past those first fragile levels. ;)

I should note that while she has the Addicted Friend background, I left the name and details of the friend very open. This is on purpose, so it might be blended with another player's backstory if they're amendable. Maybe Lenrelle's friend is some other PC's sibling or romantic partner? Maybe some more underworld savvy PC saw Lenrelle stumbling about as she did her good deeds?

Lenrelle is very heavy on the healing, but I can adjust somestuff and as I'm still newish to Pathfinder 2 would be happy to hear some suggestions.

Her Story so far:
I'm not a Korvosian native, but I've been training here so many years it certainly feels like it. I actually came here as a child of twelve summers from a town that is only a week or so away from the great city I now call home. My family had always been devout, honoring Sarenrae in special regard. When my grandmother got deathly ill, we sent a letter to the temple in the great city begging for help. To our surprise, we got a response! I volunteered to help the healer by fetching her things or any other tasks. She put me to work, and I? I didn't flinch when she took a knife and cut my grandmother open.
"This," She explained to me, holding up the crab shaped lump she had removed, "Is the tumor of a cancer. And to make sure it's evil doesn't return, though it seems to harm your grandmother, it has to be cut out first."
Apparently she was impressed that I didn't faint at the gruesome work. Which is funny, because I always thought of myself as a bit timid in most respects.
I'm no warrior. But Sarenrae needs healers too, and she told me the temple was always looking for young acolytes and trainees. As for myself, I was in awe of how she much she knew, and my faith was truly inspired to new heights. For the first time in my young life, I knew just what I wanted to do.

My parents, seeing which way the wind was blowing, and grateful besides, let me go with her. Not that I make a fuss of it, but I think they worried their flake of a daughter was never going to willingly go to a trade on her own accord and were delighted when I finally found something that mattered to me.

For my first two years, I was actually rather cloistered from the ills of the city, save for tending the wounded or the ill that came in with ails, aches, gashes and more, but even with the good attempts to keep me out of the worse parts of the town, I got the hint that Korvosa wasn't always a shining bastion of glory and civilization like it hoped to be. A lot of innocent folks fall through the cracks, and some don't fall, they get pushed. As I was allowed more duties, even going to the shadier dangerous districts to help those in need, it became apparent that folks making poor life choices was only part of it. They were preyed on.

I met my first Shiver addict when I was fourteen. And it's when I first heard of Gaedren Lamm. It was a name I would, Sarenae forgive me, grow to hate. The middle and upperclasses waved it off, the guards ignored it. After all, they insisted, it only really hurt the poor. As if a poor but good person is worth less than a rich and wicked one? Such talk got my blood boiling! I focused on helping shiver addicts when they showed up, or when I spotted them on the street. Alas, far too few came to the temple, and far too many on the streets had no support; both often loved Shiver more than they loved their health.

I actually saw Lamm once. I called out to him and told him the harm he was doing. That it wasn't too late to repent! To redeem himself!

He laughed , made a rude gesture, and walked away. To this day, I don't know if it was chance that lead him to get my good friend hooked, or he did it out of pettiness. I did what I could for my friend, and when it was all said and done, I realized that I had been told the cure for folks like Lamm a long time ago.

Lamm didn't want redemption. He was happy being a cancer on the community's well being. So be it. I'd treat him like one. To keep his evil from doing more harm, I'm going to cut him out and remove him from this world.

I've never killed before.
First time for everything.

Appearance::
Lenrelle has a wholesome girl next door look, and while no smoldering seductive beauty, is quite pretty and has a nice smile which she uses often. She has dark brown hair that she often keeps braided to keep it out of the way when she's working. Like most Korvosians, she's of Chellish descent. Thus she has pale skin that, ironicly given her goddess, is prone to sunburns. Her eyes are dark brown, and she laments that few sonnets are sung about brown eyed lasses.
She also has a lovely singing voice.

Behavior::
It's easy to mistake Lenrelle for naive, as she is chipper and upbeat by nature, but she's well aware of some of the grim happenings that occur to others. She has lots of innocence, and no doubt time will rob that from her, but she's not a fool. While her faith says not to lie, she often tries to play up the positive truths for the good of others. She can and has held the hand of a dying man when there was nothing to be done. She considers herself not terribly brave, yet will take great risks to herself if it means saving a life.
Lenrelle has mixed feelings about warriors. She respects goodly men (and women) who throw themselves into the fray, but sometimes they can be the biggest babies when it comes to seeing surgery preformed, or when they must take bitter medication. Arcane sorts make her skittish and she is clueless to the secrets of such magic beyond the fact that catching a magic missile to your face can be bad for your health. She's somewhat sympathetic to those who practice skullduggery for a living. The city doesn't make it easy to fly right. She's very fond of musicians and dancers of all sorts, and often sings at the local temple's choir herself. She's even been known to hum happily as she sets broken bones.

If Haohji gets picked, I will have a Healer's Toolkit.

I didn't list an alignment, but I think you will recognize he's as pure Neutral as possible. Caring for himself and his loved ones is pretty much his only concern.

Iaco Dola

Description: This young man is dirty. Not the kind of dirty from a day's honest labor, but the kind of dirty that comes from living in squalor for a long time. Even his eyes are brown, and there's little opportunity to guess his ethnicity without him cleaning up. His gear looks the part as well, though there's more of it than you would expect. Everything is patched and mended, obviously used, and the leather armor has apparently failed previous owners a couple of times. Even so, he carries a functional rapier. The hunger in his eyes combined with the presence of weaponry is enough to make most good folk uneasy. Thing is, looking like he does, it is obvious he doesn't get to associate with good folk often.

Did you decide when you're picking players?

Think the amount of new interest has slowed down and most people who were going to submit something have done so (or bowed out). As of now, my plan is to make final selections on Sunday. That might change if more new interest shows up, but tentatively lets say that.

If I have missed someone who needs more time, please sing out

Please consider the (last-minute application) of Grinning Skull, proud warrior and orphan of origins unknown to him.

Background story
Grinning Skull, for lack of a better name, has been one of Gaedren Lamm's so-called "little lamms" for as long as he can remember. Now a broad-shouldered towering man with dark hair and numerous scars adorning his tanned skin, he has always obeyed his master's command, breaking his enemies' kneecaps as soon as it was required. There was something soothing with clear orders. Grinning Skull had a place in this world, thanks to the crimelord. Hence, he never considered any other lifestyle or occupation.

Yet, something has always seemed off to him. First, he knew nothing about his parents, or his origins. Of course, the honeyed-tongued Lamm assured him that he was an orphan that he'd taken under his wings, offering him a chance at a better survival. However, there was this strange tattoo covering his shoulder, a massive, pitch-black grinning skull that he was quickly named after. A trace of his long-forgotten childhood. The source of so many questions, yet there weren't any answers for them. Until now.

Recently, as the hulking goon was washing off the blood off his hands - another man's blood, but there was no one to complain about it anymore - a vision occured to him. An elderly spirit, resembling the young Grinning Skull, appeared to him - and him only - talking a strange language he didn't understand. Somehow the sounds were familiar, as if buried deep within his memories, so long ago. A chant came up, like a childhood lullaby, sung in this guttural language. Yet the spirit disappeared, leaving Grinning Skull with so many interrogations. It returned the next night, and the night after, slowly talking to the goon, and little by little the gibberish started to make sense. There were familiar words that he'd start to discern. "Shoan-Ti. Skoan-Ka. Taken. Taken. Taken..." A veil started to tear in Grinning Skull's faded memories, and a terrible pain surged from the bottom of his heart. The terror of losing his parents, a brief reminiscence of his mother's face, he was TAKEN by Lamm's men. Raw fury submerged him as he now remembered what the spirit tried to tell him. Lamm had not saved him. Lamm had taken him away from his parents, his origins.

Lamm had to die.

About me
I'm Lithrac, a 44 year-old father of two and experienced PF1e GM/player. I've played numerous pbp scenarios, modules, and adventure paths with great success, up to the moment PF2e came out. I underwent a hiatus, mostly for familial reasons, but I have returned to this beloved style of play. I'm not highly familiar with PF2e (I started delving through books only about two weeks ago), but I'm eager to learn and to play. Looking forward to having a chance to play this amazing adventure path, which I haven't read, GMed, or played yet. I'm a huge Varisia fan though. Posting once a day (or more) isn't a problem for me.

Thanks Grinning Skull, I have you down on the list. Better late than never!

We spoke on the general recruitment thread, I will have a submission by end of the day tomorrow, or sooner. should I just post the character details and back story here?

Grinning Skull, you ran PbP Veteran's Vault for another PFS dwarf of mine many years ago. Good to see you back.

It looks like, even though there is a ton of interest, selection isn't quite complete. So I'll throw my name into the hat. I just found this forum having migrated over from 5e, so I'm still figuring out the system.

Character:
Name: Usul Harj
Ancestry: Gnome
Background: Urchin
Class: Thief Rogue
Rough Backstory: As a very young gnome, Usul and his parents were traveling through the realm and stopped off in <big city where your campaign is starting> for a couple of nights. One night, Usul, being the precocious little gnome, snuck down to the kitchen to try to grab a couple extra cookies. Just when he was reaching up for the cookie jar there was an explosion and the second floor of the inn was gone. Orphaned in the city, Usul spent the next years begging for coins to survive, or pilfering a pouch from unwitting travelers.
Now 19 years old, Usul found himself in the home, or maybe study, of a wizard. Before he was able to find anything interesting the old gnome wizard came home and caught Usul. But, being kind to folks of his own, the wizard decided to be lenient to Usul and instead of calling the guards, gave the young gnome work to do to pay his debt.
Usul is now running errands for the old wizard, though still finds it hard to keep his hands out of travelers pockets sometimes.

A long, long time ago, I was playing a Dwarven Cleric and we were camped in a cave with the watch securing the entrance. Watch woke us up crying "I could use a little help over here", so the Dwarven Cleric got up and started thumping bad guys. When the fight was over, the guy on watch turned to me and said "I meant I needed healing, but it worked out."

Proposed Background:

Unfortunately, it was not only half-orcs who came from dark situations but some half-elves as well. Rienas was one of these. He had never met his father but understood all too well where he had come from. Surviving the ordeal, but having no other options, his human mother had moved into the city's squalor to support them. To Rienas' dismay, his mother had constantly insisted that they stay in this part of the city as people here knew her story and were more lenient of his half-breed heritage.

Not having been born in Korvosa, and a half-elf besides, Rienas got used to being valued less than everyone else. Often looked down upon, he found he preferred to conduct his business in the evenings when there were fewer people. During the day, a quick look around revealed that there was nothing nice here. Here the poor gathered in their dirty, meagre lodgings, perfectly situated for him to find the time, resources and privacy to pursue his dark research.

It was two weeks ago he had come home to an empty place. His mother was always home in the early mornings, she worked the late shift. A strong suspicion had him heading straight to the tavern, to see what was the matter. Before entering the bar he could see there was a commotion inside. The townspeople were all gathered outside, whispering to each other, but quieted as he walked past. He pushed the door open to head inside and was immediately aware of the state of the place. tables and chairs flipped, glass and furniture smashed, and blood all around the bodies on the floor. He heard the owner of the bar saying his mother's name, and when he turned to the man, realized he was in a conversation with the authorities. They were just discussing the three dead on the floor, two of the patrons involved in the fight and one of the servers; Rienas' mother.

The half-elf spiralled downward after his mother's death. Finding out she had been another victim of the drunken rage of Gaedren Lamm, and that nobody intended to do anything about it, pushed him over the brink. Late one evening, overwhelmed with grief and rage, Rienas begged for the means of revenge, aloud, from any powers that were listening... and it seemed one was.

Since that night, Rienas has been singularly focused on revenge; he would have his justice.

Proposed Character Type:

Half-elf warlock (witch)

Looking for approval before finalizing.

The job really sapped the time this week. My team got saddled with assisting another group, so time was at a premium preventing me from getting the rest of the narrative written for Perivolt's backstory. I'll work on it later.

Nevertheless, I have hopefully gotten Perivolt into a finished form, but I beg your forgiveness if I missed something or screwed up the stats. I relied on the output of Pathbuilder, so if something's been errata'd let me know.

Perivolt Ornelos

Backstory: As the Part 1 indicated, Perivolt became aware of one of his father's bastards among the serving staff's children, a boy named Graykos. Along with his older half-sister Redwella, Perivolt takes the boy under his wing as one of the scions of House Ornelos and maneuvering the treacherous and mysterious currents of this magical bloodline.

Years later, after Perivolt begins his magical education at Korvosa's famed Acadamae, Graykos disappears under mysterious and possibly sinister circumstances. Perivolt and Redwella suspect one of their siblings, Jeriah who is Perivolt's older full-brother of being responsible due to the constant infighting among Ornelos children. Graykos being of partial Shoanti blood seems to have irked many of the more racist members of the family.

Over the course of the next year and half, Perivolt spends his free time from his magical studies and occasionally even skips some classes to investigate what has happened to his younger half-brother since he and Redwella have gone very attached to the boy. It seems the most recent clues uncovered have given him a name...Gaedren Lamm.

Appearance: Slightly taller than average, Perivolt has light brown hair with darker brown eyes. He often seems amused at everything around him, so he is frequently caught with a smile on his face which both endears and annoys those around him depending on their perception of it. He's fairly slight of frame which is common among those who study the magical arts and spend less time performing physical labor, so it's not much commented within the circles he would normally frequent. He's taken to dressing down and attempting to be less obtrusive in order to successfully infiltrate some of the lower economic areas to find information regarding his lost brother. Typically he dresses in fine clothes provided by his family station, but mostly because that's just what he knows.

Personality: Perivolt is a fairly affable and charming young man, but maintains an unfortunate sense of superiority due to his upbringing and natural talent for the magical arts. The notion that he and his family are better than others is just part and parcel to what he always known. Perivolt isn't likely to intentionally offend, but he can definitely display his sharp wit if someone has rubbed him the wrong way.

Thank you very much, it feels good to be back! I have very fond memories of pbp games, and PFS's diversity really helped meeting a ton of outstanding people.

I do remember you indeed! More specifically, Jory (and his sandwich!) and Sydney (didn't I run the Confirmation for him? ) Great to see you!

Welcome to PF2 and these forums. Glad you are here! Let us know if you need help coming up with the crunch. You can look back a few posts and see some helpful formats and a link to Pathbuilder, which is a free resource for character creation.

You'll need a crunch (link to character sheet or post to a profile) to fully apply, but given your newness, I will put you on the list for consideration.

Good day to you!
I stumbled on this thread about an hour ago, and have been pondering making a submission for consideration.
I'm new to P2; after have been playing 5E for a while now with regular groups I'd like to try a new system.
I have had a soft spot for Gray Maidens since I saw them in the 1E Adventurer's Guide and would like to work one into the game if possible. While some initial ideas are sounding good to me, I will devote some time in the morning and share more details by noon ET.
Please let me know if a human Gray Maiden initiate/deserter (fighter) would work.

Due to lack of time and creativity, I am pulling out. have fun guys
My creativity, not yours. I am a bit run down

Updated my character sheet for better legibility. Made one small mechanical change (Heritage feat), and finalized equipment. Note to self: kept 5gp in case the group healer doesn't have enough for Healer's Tools.

The Grey Maidens play some key roles in teh story, so if you are a deserter, it might not go well for you. If that's ok with you and you welcome the challenge, then go ahead.

Like the others, since you are new to the PF2e, I will give you a bit more time to get the character crunch together, but give me a backstory and the basics of your build and I'll add you to the consideration list.

The deadline approaches.

Hello again everyone! Here is my entrant into the intrigue of Korvosa: Daesra Darkshield

Personality: A serious and focused young woman, Daesra has constantly struggled to fit in since she and her baby brother were left at an orphanage. Raising Taldrin as a parent took away her youthful childhood and instilled her with a protective of those in need.
Appearance: Daesra is a striking figure in many regards – She is tall but wiry, yet has a muscular strength about her. Her jet black hair frames a tanned complexion and piercing blue eyes. Her countenance is wry and displays a series of harsh scars across her face, done in an almost ritualistic manner
Background: {Cliff Notes version, being very close to the final hour}
Raising her young brother Taldrin in the orphanage was the only sort of family experience she had growing up herself. Being mindful of the stewards, dealing with the bigger kids especially when they went to bully Taldrin, and making sure he was safe and fed was all she know. That changed when special representatives came to visit, and took her and a few other girls away for a “noble cause.” She was heartbroken, devastated at being separate from her brother but assurances that the orphanage would receive special funds to help the others assuaged the pain slightly.
The following years found her working in the smithy, helping then learning to forge armor and weapons for the organization of women warriors. Her larger size helped with the tasks, and constant work brought out a physical strength she would have missed growing up on the streets.
Seeing all the women there with scarred faces as disconcerting, especially when no one would answer how that had happened. Her curiosity was horrifyingly addressed when it was her turn to be initiated.
The following years were a blur of martial training, smithing, and constant restless nights of worry aver her young brother. Daesra turned this inner turmoil into her work, focusing intently on crafting he best weapons and armor she could – her gaze was so intense that others would back away and leave her alone while she was in her element.
One day, a brief note made its way to her, inside a delivery of metals for the forge. Taldrin had found a way to make contact! He said he was in some serious trouble and needed her, and to meet in town. Taking whatever possessions she had and hiding them in a box of “impure ores” that needed returned to the warehouse, Daesra walked away from the only stable home she’d known.
The reunion for that evening did not go as planned – arriving late at the alley, she found her brother dead, stabbed multiple times and his frail form missing their mother’s protective charm – she’d insisted he keep it always to keep him safe. {Tweaked a bit from the Love Lost background}
And now that she has lost everything, there is only one thing to do…

I don't mind some additional challenges, and look forward to how that may interact with the storyline. Thank you for the heads-up!
I've been looking about for a P2 version of the organization but have only found what was noted as a playtest version of the Gray Maiden archetype. At it looks like something to level into, hopefully something official will come out in due course.

Good luck everyone, have a wonderful day and thank you DM DrEvil for running the game!

Daesha made it in under the wire, but is the last character accepted for the list.

The final list of submitted/accepted characters looks like this:

Martial
Billi - Dwarf Fighter
Lijiri - Orc Barbarian
Haohji - Human unarmed fighter
Grinning Skull - Shoanti barbarian
Daesra - Human fighter (grey maiden)

Arcane
Nininox - gnome sorceror (Djinn bloodline)
Perivolt - human wizard
Reinas - half-elf warlock

Divine
Salloug - orc oracle of tempests
Talindra - Champion of Shelyn (might bard class)
Morganne - duskwalker divine Sorceror
Lennelle - human cleric of Sarenrae

Skill
Camber - halfling rogue
Sable - Human Bard
Zelda - human thaumaturge
Iaco - unwashed rogue scoundrel
Usul - gnome rogue

I wish I could take all of you but a table with 17 characters might get a little unwieldy. It is very difficult to make these kind of decisions, and I think all the applicants are very creative and interesting, but only a few can go forward.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Maps Subscriber

Here are the characters selected for the game:

Martial - Billi Hardstone - Dwarf fighter

Arcane - Perivolt Ornelas - human wizard

Divine - Lenrelle - human cleric of Sarenrae

Skill - Sable - human bard

In addition, i will be adding two others who make "wildcard" slots to round out the party at 6 (might be big, but given the PBP format, they may not all be here very long).

Wildcard 1 - Talinda - elven champion of Shelyn

Wildcard 2 Iaco - human rogue

Congratulations and welcome to the game! You may dot in and post in Discussion tab, where we will begin to look a little more deeply into your crunch and see how the backgrounds and origins work together.

All others, don't lose hope, I have an idea.

Thank you very much! Some amazing concepts abounded.

Ok, got those guys a place to work on building the game. Had not thought about this before the number of excellent submissions, but I would be willing to run a SECOND table, if you want it. If you do, there is a little homework that will come along with the expansion to two tables

This homework comes in two parts. If you don't want to do the work, that's ok, just tell me, and I will withdraw you from the candidates for Table 2.

Part 1

This is the list of remaining players accepted after the first table is seated. Tell me which of these characters YOU would select to be in the party with you, and why. You may do this in the thread, or by IM.

Martial
Lijiri - Orc Barbarian
Haohji - Human unarmed fighter
Grinning Skull - Shoanti barbarian
Daesra - Human fighter (grey maiden)

Arcane
Nininox - gnome sorceror (Djinn bloodline)
Reinas - half-elf warlock

Divine
Salloug - orc oracle of tempests
Morganne - duskwalker divine Sorceror

Skill
Camber - halfling rogue
Zelda - human thaumaturge
Usul - gnome rogue

Part 2

Due to the fairly anonymous nature of PBP, there is a LOT of players who drop games without notice. I am looking for players with some longevity and stick-to-itness about them. I invest a lot in creating a new thread, and want to make sure you are the people to go forward with.

Share a link, or explain your longest running PBP game (if you have any experience) if you don't have any (or much) PBP experience, tell me why you will be someone who sticks around and posts regularly, or at least has the courtesy to tell us when you might be away. Again, this can be in thread, or via IM.

Sorry for the extra work, but you get an extra chance to play a great AP, so perhaps its worth it.

Congrats to those that were chosen, I missed the cut for the first table but I will definitely do the homework for a chance to occupy a seat at the second. I will also include the crunch for my character.

Hello from the middle of downtown Philadelphia! People were partying here for hours. Cheering and screaming in the streets, almost like what you see in other countries with soccer.

And on the topic of this game, this is a fascinating set of developments! Thank you so much for choosing my character for the first group! I have so many things I want to explore with Talindra and this'll be a great opportunity to do so. And a second game, wow! Please be kind to yourself. Running games takes a lot of energy (I've done a bit myself over the years, in several different systems) so I want to recognize the work that will take.

Thank you for the selection, DM DoctorEvil!

Good luck to the Table 2 candidates.

Any idea what patron theme you would use for Rienas?

@DM DocterEvil really cool of you to run a second group. It'd be interesting to be able to see how the two groups handle things differently.

Thanks for the chance. I'm going to do my homework and my next application will be better. Still getting used to these forums :)

Thanks for the consideration and for running a second table. However I am going to bow out of the competition for the second table. Good gaming!

Congratulations to the winners. I hope the AP will go well!

As for me, pbp experience has made me a bit wary of multiple tables of the same campaign run in parallel, so I'll decline the offer for a second table.

Concerning replacing a drop-out, sure, feel free to give me a nudge if you need a martial character.

Previous PbP experience:
If you're asking about previous experiences and proofs of stability in a pbp environment, what can I say? Close to 16k posts on the boards over three years, the vast majority in pbp. A successful 6-part AP (Rise of the Runelords) played from beginning to end in less than two years, for example. A huge number of PFS scenarios, all played from beginning to end.See Alias page and Campaign page, which you probably already checked when considering applications.

I've rarely missed a single day, posting numerous times on most days, and always warning in advance when I knew I was going to be AFK for holidays and such, which is only common curtesy IMHO.

I would also decline a second table, though it's generous of you to offer DoctorEvil.
