First attempt at running Organised play for the card game in Glasgow.
Scenarios are “On the Horizon” to introduce new players to the game if required
I have class decks available if anyone wishes to borrow one for the night
There has been a few occasions already where we use one card in place of another in OP either as a henchman or as a normal boon that gives a chance to close the location. Rather than try to remember which boon is the special one or to ignore what it says on the henchman card and do what the scenario says would it be possible to get a set of eight generic henchman cards to cover this function. Probably this would be via "Drive Through RPG" like the errata cards. Cards really just has to say "Refer to scenario special instructions" or something similar. This would put less strain on my less than perfect memory.
I can see why this guidance/rule would anoy some people. But its there because you no longer have the situation you have in a normal game where if you harm another character they it will probably come back to bite you sooner or later. In OP there might not be any later for a particular group of players so some other mechanism is required to ensure people act like they are a group of heros and not playing just acting with out thinking about the consequences for others.
With every extra player you are adding another 10 cards that potently have to be encountered. So even though you have the same number of turns a 5 or 6 player game has significanlty more cards to get thorough in the same amount of time. My experiance is that 5 or 6 players games are only suited for a group of well experianced players.
The simple but probaly unpopular option would be to have only 2 or three characters in a class deck.
Doing a boon deck for OP would be difficult. The class decks all say what deck they are from so any expansion cards would also have to say that so you can sort out who owns what card after the game. That limits the usfulness of any boon decks.
You could put a marker of some type (bookmark) that is the number of cards up from the bottom of your deck as your hand size as that is most number of cards you will need to draw at any one time when you reset your hand.
Yes as Hawkmoon says you would have to be able to use the card before you attemt the check so some where in: Encountering a Card
So it would be difficult to play but I am not quite ready to say impossable yet as there may be a suitable combination out there somewhere.
There is nothing to stop you playing two or more characters when playing solo which was my approch when I started. The sweet point of the game seems to be about 3 or 4 characters/players. But if you want to play a single character Merisial may be a good one to start with as she gets benifits when she is at a location by her self. When playing with a single character the blessing deck count down will not be your main issue it will be surviving. At the other end of the scale when playing with 5 or 6 characters surving is not such a problem but completing the senario before the blessing deck runs out is.
Ok After finishing Adventure 3, remove basic and elite cards starting with B & C & 1 cards. Understand that fine. But that will include all the Blessings of the Gods cards which are basic.
If you play solo you are only allowed to cronical one character. That single character will be the one you take to other organised play events if you only have occasional access to them. Also completing adventures sometimes gives you other rewards such as allowing you to play the swashbuckler using the rogue deck.
Still not received S$s apparently the pirates upset the customs so they have been hit by a £20 charge to brake them out. Could you please warn customers in future that on items over £15 they are going to be hit with extra charges and delays in getting there goods. My local FLAG has had the game for a week now and I am still waiting. Lesson learned.
My order 3228214 sill shows as pending.
So if you have not already shiped it can you please pospone my order and sent it all (base card game, expansion, senario 2, class decks x7, playmat) with my September shipment. That way its just the one big parcel to ship across the atlantic. Thanks
If you look under Upgrading your deck the first line is "In Adventure Card Guild play, you don’t get to keep the cards that you’ve acquired or otherwise gained during the scenario.". That would include cards you have been given. So it is not expicit where that the given card goes but it is definatly not kept by the person you gave it to and should end up with its owner at the end of the night. Rules need clarified but my assumption would be that it ends up back in the deck of the character who gave it out. |
