Ranzak's card image in the Paizo Blog and the Community Use Policy

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

Not sure exactly where to ask this, so I thought I'd just put it here. Many of us enjoying using standees when playing PACG. They are made fairly easy to design due to the Paizo Community Use Policy and the package of images for the iconics.

Of course Ranzak isn't an iconic character. So he isn't in the package. But an image of his character token card did appear in the Paizo blog. Twice actually. So, that image would seem usable via the community use policy's line that "You may use any of the text or artwork published in the Paizo Blog at paizo.com/paizo/blog..."

Looking over the policy more carefully, the provision for using images from the Paizo blog seems to lack any restriction on altering the image. But since that prohibition is found on other sources of community use images, I wanted to double check to be safe.

So, my question is, would taking the character token image published on the blog and editing it so that it was only Ranzak and his parrot (i.e. removing the title box, background, etc.) so that it could be made as a standee, would that be a violation of the community use policy? And if it would be, what are the chances of an image of Ranzak being posted on the blog to be used for things like this? (And while I'm at it, what are the chances of the characters from the class decks that haven't already been posted on the blog also being posted so that we can make things for them too?)

Thanks.

I'd rather just add Ranzak and those characters to the Community Use Package. An update is in the works....

Awesome. Thanks Vic.

Dumb question maybe, but by using a standee do you mean you place the character card next to the location deck, in a plastic stand? Cool idea. I'm relatively new to playing these sorts of card games.

If you've seen Pathfinder pawns, it's very similar. They're the same size without all that text. Chipboard, laser printer labels trimmed to size and stuck to the chipboard. Fantasy Flight stands.

Sample with old stands

Paizo sells the NPC Codex Box that has all the characters from ROTR and about 21 of the 28 class deck characters. Or you might try miniatures. Paizo has a line of prepainted minis and plans to launch a new line of iconic sets.

You don't need them to play but I think it adds a lot.

You can also check BoardGameGeek for some homemade ones. Here are some I posted there for RotR.

Those are the ones I posted pictures of.

Has any consideration been given to the Class deck characters for thoses of use who would like to have these as standees as well?
Images for these characters are not so common.

Vic said "Ranzak and those characters", meaning the class deck characters as well. So it is all in the works.

I had talked to Vic and Tanis at GenCon about images for the Class Decks in order for Hawkmoon to include them with his EXCELLENT standees. They said they needed to get higher res images but we would be able to have them for community use. Both liked the standees when I showed them.
