Sigourney dumps all of her coin onto the table. "There. I own the Grimoire now. There are many like it, but this one is mine." With the 5k from The Eclipse and 7068.73 from my savings, I have it. She accompanies Pine to The Eclipse. Unlike the Sprite who appears to grow bored and leaves halfway, Sigourney stays and sees it through. She sees her greatest failures and her most harrowing moments. The visions start with her flunking out of the Arcanamirium she worked so hard to get into. She sees herself walking out of the Wizard college with Reginald on her shoulder, her face crimson with fury and shame. The vision transitions to her and her best friend, Remilia, pouring over forbidden books out of their desperation to gain greater arcane power. She sees younger versions of herself and Remilia botch a summoning ritual to bind and summon a fiend of Nin, the vampire demon lord of unsolved mysteries. She relives her failure to heal Remilia of the curse of vampirism using half-baked arcane magic, fully aware that the Arcane tradition cannot remove curses but desperately hoping against hope for a miracle that never came. She witnesses Remilia transform into the Scarlet Devil she now hunts. She sees a desperate younger version of herself pledge herself to the Draconic form of her Patron, the only one who shares her hatred for fiends and was willing to empower her to hunt every last one down. She sees her dogged determination in the worst possible light as she abandons friends, family and a normal life all in service to her patron. She witnesses herself hurt others with naught but a cold, cruel glare plastered on her face. Sigourney stands by silently as she watches herself kicked out onto the streets as Reginald gluttonously consumes them out of house and home. She sees herself join the party - and then fail to preserve the crystal in the Storval Stairs. She relives the last stand of Pine and herself against the Fiend army, watching on with renewed despair as Billy, Slick and Reginald flee mindlessly from the rampaging horde. She feels the lash of the horrifying Quoppopaks as they lash their tentacles relentlessly at the party, bringing Billy and herself down low. She sees Reginald, her beloved, loyal familiar, smashed, fried, shocked, frozen, bludgeoned, slashed, pierced and mangled by magic, over and over as she views every low point of their adventures as a helpless witness. Terrible Friend. Incompetent Wizard. Cold-hearted Fiend. All of her doubts laid bare and evidenced through every single low point she's ever experienced throughout her life. Like a cacophonous choir of callous churls, The Eclipse attempts to crush Sigourney's self-confidence. DC 38 Will Save, Will of the Pupil (ie Resolve): 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (13) + 30 = 43
But with every show of failure, every doubt laid bare, she forces herself to keep watching - and sees the other side to it. She sees every adversary and low moment as a learning experience which she's overcome and grown stronger. She sees her rage against fiends as what it truly is - nothing more than childish rage against a cruel, cruel world for slights long passed into history. But most important of all, she sees...she sees the good she's done for her friends. Billy's genuine smile, Pine's mischievous grin and Slick's sly smirks when they benefit from her magic. She remembers the people of Harrowheart and the cheers on their lips after the Demons were beaten back. She remembers the faces of those she saved from devils and demons - yes, those faces were full of fear, but also relief and gratitude. Sigourney understands that her life was worth living. She isn't a failure - far from it. She is a hero. And by Nethys, she will find the Scarlet Devil - no, Remilia, and free her from her vampirism, one way or another. After many hours, Sigourney returns to Harrowheart a changed woman. Gone is the vicious edge to her voice, the cold glare that pierces those around her, the aggression ever-present in every word she pronounces. In their place is a calm cadence, a gentle glance and a measured mouth. She doesn't say a word at first to the party...except to open her arms and embrace each one of them, if they so choose to reciprocate. "My friends...I return, a changed woman. The Eclipse has shown me my best self and my worst self. For all the times I have failed you as a magician and as a person, through my cruel words, my failure to keep you healthy and my vicious ways...I am sorry." She apologises to them in a quiet yet confident tone, making eye contact with each member of the party. "And to you, Reginald, my ever-capable, ever-present familiar. Thanks...for standing by me throughout all this time." She kisses Reginald on the head tenderly.

"Of course not, MMMORTAL! A Witchwarper arrives only when he is needed, and not a moment before or after!" A black-robed human male declares dramatically as he strides into the room. A large gun with huge barrels is strapped to his back. Pinned proudly on his robes is a large medal on which is inscribed "Winner of the Great Absalom Relay." "You sit before Merasmos the Magician! I grace the Starfinder Society with my presence because I deign to! And also...because I owe the Azlanti Star Empire a crippling debt in at least 5 multiverses, forcing me to seek asylum with the Starfinders." He takes a plush seat opposite the Operative. "So, what have you been doing lately?" He asks his furred counterpart.

Well, I wouldn't say no to another dungeon crawl. But Kazmuk's definitely, 100% retiring. I don't see any reason why he'd leave the village to go all the way across the ocean to fight giant bats and bat-people. I think before we decide on an AP though, we had best sort out the chronicles before the September 4th deadline passes.

He picks up the keys and fiddles with them, causing a repeated clinking and clanking to chime around the room. "Did anyone find a locked door anywhere? Maybe this leads to the Elder." He asks the party. After the treasure is divvied up, he approaches Jacen and Caleb and splits his share between them. "'Ere you go. Hey everyone, good to see that we've leveled up. Not much to say for Kazmuk, he lacks the Charisma to mechanically contribute to RP. Will try and RP a bit more though. Jacen and Caleb can take my share of gold up to 10 GP, as discussed last page. Kazmuk has all the gold he needs with his +1 rune. My level up basically gives me Shield Block so I can avoid taking damage and I am now Expert in Athletics. Unfortunately remastered barbarians do not get Deny Advantage. But I do get Furious Footfalls for a constant +5 status bonus to speed all day, which goes up to +10 when raging. My base speed is now 25 feet and can go up to 30. Not much else to say, it's a odd level up for martials. Edit: You all don't have to do this, but my shield and I would live longer if someone had the ability and tools to repair it.

Hello everyone, Hope you GenConners are having a good time. PC2 has come out and so I've gotten the chance to look at Barbarian changes. In short:
With all that in mind, I'll be swapping out Second Wind, which is honestly quite useless since I can Rage multiple times per minute, for Intimidating Strike, so I can support my party with consistent Frightened 1. Also, I'll be rolling some Treat Wounds while our cat yells at a cultist, so shout out if you want some Medicine healing.

Late delayed RP post:
28 days ago, the day after the siege...
“Oh Baines! It’s so good to see you alive and unharmed! Mistress Sigourney will be so happy to hear about this – in about 28 days, anyways. Uhm, I’m Reginald. Yes, I look different. Anyways, Mistress Sigourney has received important instructions from our Employer.” He holds out the letter (which is written in Draconic and Billy can magically translate anyways) for the party and castle to read. Dear Sig, Congratulations on achieving mastery of my magic! I knew you had it in you to excel as well as you are. I saw what you did with that horrible Hellknight and that fiendish Fiend – excellent work on your part. So proud of you – keep up the good work! With the sheer amount of my magic you are invoking, I can start to manifest through Reginald into your vicinity! Isn’t that exciting! Since you hardly ever visit my lair these days, maybe I’ll come and visit you. As an apology for shocking you with this surprise intrusion into your domain, here’s a little something from my lair. I’ve collected a bunch of books over the years on potion and oil making. I’ve gotten much use of them in my current position, but I’ve already memorized them cover to cover over the years. I hope you get some use out of them – I expect you to have learnt them by the time I come visit. I can’t wait to try your homemade Tentacle Potion – they are a real hoot at parties! Oh, and one more thing? Please let up on your obsession with Fiends, dearie. I know I told you to go hunt them down, but that doesn’t mean you should become Legendarily obsessed with them. I say you use that time and energy to better your mastery of magic. Stay safe and make sure to wrap yourself up nice and warm! My magic can be really cold and I’d hate to find out from Reginald that you have caught a cold from overuse of Cold magic. Cheers,
P.S: To the party taking care of Sig and Reginald. Thanks for all of your help! Sigourney and Reginald have spoke really well of you to me. Keep up the good work and keep collecting cards! P.P.S: Sig, you can show the party this letter. They already know I exist.
Reginald continues. “The mistress is not to be disturbed or else she’ll turn you into a newt – permanently. I’ll handle any messages and business that Mistress Sigourney would need to take care of.” Reginald message is punctuated by frequent loud and audible growling from his stomach. “So uhh…Could I have breakfast? All that fighting yesterday made me really hungry.” Society (master): 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (12) + 28 = 40 Sigourney takes the opportunity to launch into a mini-lecture. "This is a Wytchwyrd, like Witchward but replacing the 'i' and the 'a' with a 'y'. These are mysterious alien merchants capable of travelling stars as well as the Planes of Existence." "Shall we ready ourselves for the next great adventure?" Sigourney asks the group, gesturing towards the portal with her green, ghostly tentacle.

With a quorum of 4 people in favour of splitting gold, I calculated the value of our loot so far. Calculating the value of everything but the hand crossbow and poison (Blueberry probably wants those) I calculated a total value of 58.2 GP. Divided 6 ways, that's 9.7 GP each. Handwraps are 35 GP. Between the four willing parties, I can absolutely afford +1 hand wraps. Kazmuk will make a post about obtain the handwraps. I will pay the balance 3.4 GP back to Caine, who also needs a +1 rune. I owe each of you (Caleb and Jaden) 9.7 GP and Caine 6.4 GP. Power of friendship (and money) go!

"It is my pleasure to meet the staff of this castle. Go ahead and lead the way." She sweetly says as she fans herself. Noticing the side-eye given to Slick, she realises that acting too bourgeois could create a rift between herself and Slick and quickly sends a Message to Slick. Per the remaster, Message has the Subtle trait which says that the spell's spellcasting actions and manifestations are hidden from observers. Just in case, Sigourney is hiding her lips behind a fan. "Slick, I'm not actually accepting ownership of this place. I'm just playing along." Sigourney takes the time to stop in front of each staff member as they are introduced to her. She nods her head in acknowledgment and flashes each one a smile as she calls them each by name. Turning to Baines and Messaging him, she rattles off comments on the staff. "Yes, I will require the services of Molly and Anna, Rufus and Thomas will need to run around and assist me with my errands. I do on occasion summon Marvelous Mounts and then Eric will need to take care of them. No, I don't hunt, but if there are facilities available here I don't see why I shouldn't give it a try. In fact, please provide me a list of available game around here." She turns directly to Lydia. "Miss Lydia, as a scholar and archivist myself, I believe I will be calling on your services quite often. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. No children here though - yet. But my familiar Reginald -" She points at the rat sitting on her shoulder - "Is like a child to me. Please take him into your care." She continues to comment on the other staff to Baines in a quiet voice. "Baines, is there any history of hostility between Emile and yourself that I should be aware off? What about any...attraction between yourself and Mrs Prendeghast?" As Baines promises that the room would be decorated in her preferred style, she realises that she has never divulged that information. How would they know that I have a thing for mystical Nexian decor? She thinks to herself. She makes a mental note to ask for the locations of the workshops and libraries while also kicking herself mentally for not taking alchemical studies in wizard school. "Good. Good! Everyone, it has been a pleasure to make your acquaintance. At ease!" She declares. "Baines, could you spare some staff to escort Masters Slick, Billy and Pine to their rooms?" Sigourney quickly messages as the staff leave the room. She then turns to Rufus and asks to be escorted to her chambers, inwardly grateful to have a place to stay.

Reginald looks up at the (comparatively larger) halfling with curious eyes. He clears his throat and coughs. "Hello?" Reginald ventures, speaking in a deep, low voice. "Oh my, you can understand me!" He exclaims with amazement. " Reginald will eventually flag down a waiter and order up some food and drink for himself and Sigourney - pulling out silver and gold coins half as big as he is from Sigourney's sleeves. When the topic of strengths and weaknesses come up, Reginald will excitedly answer on Sigourney's behalf."I've seen Sigourney's magic for a good part of our lives! It's AMAZING! She can heal, cure ailments, call down the elements on her foes...It's like she's got Primal magic at her beck and call! Unfortunately..." At this point, Reginald looks somewhat apologetic. "We both have a uhhh...employer of sorts. We are contractually obligated to act on tasks assigned to us. We apologise in advance if it messes with anything, but..." Reginald catches an angry glare from Sigourney and promptly stops talking about their patron. "Oh we would LOVE to join you all!" Reginald exclaims. "We're going to be heroes, Sigourney! Stopping evil and finding magic seems like something both you and the Man can agree on! We're in!" He seems desperate to have a meaningful conversation with anyone and continues talking to anyone who would talk to him.

The loud sounds of singing, dancing and cavorting echoed in the verdant streets of Absalom's Ivy Quarters. Revelers and performers crowded the streets, each person clothed in dazzling outfits that over-stimulated the eyes. Their voices joined together in a furious cacophony that irritated the ears...Or that's how Sigourney viewed the Ivy Quarters. The tall, blonde lady in a plain purple and white dress had eyes for nothing but knowledge, and this present mystery had the potential to produce a lot of it. Her eyes darted about, two looking to the left while the one on her hat seemed to dart to her right. "Now, where is that place...The Gutless Griffin. The one with the Harrower?" Sigourney murmured, seemingly to herself. A tiny white rat poked its head out of her right sleeve. It gestured straight ahead with its pink nose. "Yes, yes! Straight ahead! Very good, Reginald. I'd hug you, but you're way too cold to hold onto for very long." Sigourney said while shooing her familiar back into her sleeve. Reginald ducked back into her sleeve with an angry squeak. Sigourney marched into the bar, a serious expression painted on her face. She tried her best to look as intimidating as possible. With her thin, wiry frame and her ridiculous hat, she was not doing a very good job at it. After passing by the menacingly tall bouncer in the front and trying not to look suspicious, she looked around the The Gutless Griffin, suddenly aware of how out of place she looked among the happy crowd. Memories of a misspent youth stuck studying in wizard college flooded back to her...but she pushed them away, sweeping her eyes around the room to seek out what she came here for. The Gutless Griffin was full tonight. Ale and wine flowed like milk and honey from tap to glass. The bar's patrons were engrossed with a rather engaging performance on stage. Sigourney couldn't help but notice that one of the performers looked really small and fairy-like. "They must employ some interesting magic to produce that kind of illusion...might be worth learning." Sigourney mused. Sigourney continued to look around, but she could not find anyone that matched the description of a Harrower in this bar. No one was hunched over a table in a dark corner, giving inscrutable advice. She waited patiently until the performance ended and then approached one of the performers - a cheery halfling with a wide smile. Ignoring the music that continually emanated from him, Sigourney spoke. "Hallo there Sir." She addressed the figure. "Do you know where - or who - is the Harrower of The Gutless Griffin?"

I believe the adventure is only from 1-3 though. No level increase to 5 to boost con. It's kinda why I'm going dwarf - frontliners need all the hp they can get. Kazmuk shakes his head. "Kids these days...They need to eat more veggies." |
