Yeah, that one was brutal. I think we made an error not healing up fully before continuing on. I didn't realize he had 3 more pets after the first room.

I don't have a reroll on that coup de grace save. It's a pretty low percentage, even if I did. I don't suppose others can share rerolls with you, can they?

Regardless, good luck to everyone. Glad it wasn't a TPK.

Talon grunts as the skeleton's claws rake across his face. He assumes a defensive stance, stabs at one of the skeletons but misses, and then performs an evasive maneuver to reach the corner of the room.

Easily seeing the bomb coming, Talon dodges behind one of his slower companions, who takes all the spray from the flask. The rogue avoids any damage entirely.

Before the rest of the enemies can react, Talon slips along the wall and below the guard of the skeleton to get into the room behind the alchemist.

"I've lost someone I love, too. But this isn't the way to resolve it. We're turning him over to the authorities that hired us, and they can decide what to do."

Once the others are healed, Talon says "I saw which way he went. Perhaps we can flush him out, and this time, without his play things."

The rogue waits for some of the brawnier party members to take the lead, however.

Though Talon had been giving chase, the rogue suddenly slows up, unwilling to pursue the obviously powerful alchemist while he is so seriously wounded.

He activates a wrist-sheath, produces a wand, and activates it to heal himself.

Talon, after slicing at the alchemist with one dagger, pulls out of combat with the enemy zombies and follows him.

acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 I'll follow him down the corridor, but hopefully avoid an AoO. If I do get hit, though I will stop and drink a healing potion instead of following him.

While the alchemist is ordering around his henchmen, Talon takes a moment to rush into the room and get behind the man.

"These won't be enough to save you, creep!" the rogue says as he attempts to plunge a dagger into the man's side.

Since I act before they do, they should be flat-footed still. So they shouldn't have AoO against me, and I should get sneak attack damage.

Putting two and two together, Talon looks squarely at the hunchback.

"Yeah...we're looking for a guy who's cutting up bodies and doing experiments on them to get them to rise from the dead. He's supposed to be a heavy-set, skinny, tall-ish short-guy with blonde hair and a completely bald head. Have you seen him?"

"We should take this door," the rogue agrees. He checks it thoroughly for traps, then opens it and stands aside.

Talon, seeing nowhere else to attack from, decides to make for the alcove next to the skeletons. Darting past his fellows, he exposes himself briefly to the claws of the skeletons, but then finds himself in the relative safety of the alcove.

"Shhhh!!!" he whispers. "Someone is...talking up there. It's soft but I can hear it. That isn't something we should have in a crypt. Unless it's more undead. Still, this pile of gore makes me think we're close to something."

"I could potentially climb up and check it out."

He pulls out the wand he had used earlier and heals his wounds.

"I think this pile of gore is directly related to our mission here, and the reason I didn't want to go around. I wonder...should we try climbing up here? This seems to have been dumped from above. Perhaps what we seek is directly above us. Anyone bring a grappling hook?"

Talon sees one of the creatures starting to move, and before it can jump at it, he hurls a dagger at it.

The rogue then darts to the back of the group, leaving the rest for the front-liners.

"I'm happy to check out the statues," Talon responds to Madge. "Only, someone else can be the one touching them. For example, that last one has a magic trap on it. That much I know. What it does, I have no idea, and am not much inclined to find out. But be my guest," he says.

"Otherwise, let's go around and try those doors to the east," he suggests.

Looks like the north and south doors here are higher on a catwalk, right? So let's walk around to the east, ya?

The rogue looks at the statues surrounding the chamber.

"Are all these giving you the same reading, Kid?" he asks Ziusudra.

"If so, maybe we ought to leave the statues alone for now."

He looks around for any other secret passages or hidden things.
