A small hole dug into the snow afforded Talavuc a bit of protection from the wind and prying eyes. Naasvit stirred slightly next to her and she gave the mink an affectionate stroke, smiling softly to herself. The snow shoes sat in the snow nearby, mostly covered already. She grinned and wondered for a minute, knowing that she no longer needed them, but still curious about all the changes that had occurred recently.
Her hand instinctively stroked her husband's wayfinder, much changed from the mantle. She pulled it up to her face and wondered, Just what was taken... I feel both... foggier and clearer... She smiled again and shifted a bit, drawing a lazy gaze from Naasvit and a slightly annoyed snorted. She stroked his head again as her closed her eyes and finally rested, her mind drifting off to thoughts of her husband.

My apologies, but I've been without computer for some time. I've had to relocate due to financial problems. Additionally, I had a nice scare for a bit regarding my depression. It very nearly landed me in the hospital (I got as far as the ER). I'll take a look and try to catch up on things. I hope everything's going well for everyone else.
Also, congrats on top 4, Robert. Quite an achievement there.

"If we are to go to the village, then it would be best to heal the stranger more likely to be friendly to us," she looks to Rasso as she speaks. "The villagers will ask questions if we carry an unconscious person into their midst." She reaches down to scratch the top of Naasvit's head, feeling the slight difference in height as the snow holds her upon its surface.
The pounding in her head slowly subsides as time passes, but the fog that came with it persists. She glances down at her late husband's wayfinder, feeling something different about the object, but still not quite sure what to make of it. Why had the magic struck again? Did Baba Yaga really will such a thing? The questions brought a twinge of pain and she shook a bit from it, drawing comforting nuzzle from her long-time friend.

Talavuc groans, keeping her footing, but only just barely. Her mind reels from the sudden assault. It felt like something had been torn from her, and indeed, it had. The old woman's voice bounced around inside her skull, Take that fragment of your will! She shook for a moment and focused, just barely extending her will to direct the orb of fire. It rolled down towards the dismounted rider as she attempted to smash it into him.
Naasvit bounded forward, following the most recently commands. He moved towards the massive creature in front of him, teeth bared.

Talavuc followed along with the rest, keeping pace easily even as Naasvit struggled with the deep snow. The powder seemed to support her easily and she smiled a bit as they hurried along.
The sight startled her as they reached the site the others had heard. She gave a quick signal to Naasvit, ordering him to attack the nearest beast. The mink gave her a worried glance at the sight of such a massive predator, but he bounded through the snow none the less.
Talavuc glared at the man on the back of one of the fearsome creatures. A hunter, but why does he hunt this prey? She sought deep for magics in her mind, but found them lacking, spells and prayers spent and the energy lost for the time being. Something still burned within, though, indelibly bound to her spirit as if it were a part of her. It burned like fire and froze like the northern winds of her home. She reached out in her mind, grabbing ahold of it and shaping it with desire. "Let the hunter become prey!" The words came unbidden to her lips and she hurled the magics forth, fire sparking to life near the hunter. A globe of fire formed quickly near the hunter upon the bear, flashing towards him.

Robert, a few questions:
1. How does the Heart of the Wild racial ability interact with Hard to Kill?
2. Are the cosmetic changes to her as she gains tiers okay?
3. Instead of taking Mighty Summons, do you mind if I take the Supreme Tracker path ability first?
Working on my first Gameplay post in a long while.
Female Human (erutaki) Druid (arctic) 3 / Guardian/Hierophant 1
Cosmetically, I'd like to make a few changes to her over time, the progression being represented by her wild shape, feats, and a couple of cosmetic changes.
Basically, I want more of her grandfather's lycanthropic heritage to show through over time. Right now, I'd just like for her canines to have become noticeably elongated. It should only be mainly visible when she speaks. As her mythic power advances, her connection to that bestial spirit, and the lycanthropic curse increases.

Forgot Naasvit's bonuses:
Natural Armor: +2
Str/Dex Bonuses: +1

So Changes at Level-Up and addition of a mythic tier:
Mythic Path: Hierophant
Hit Points: 20 + 7 + 4 = 31
BAB: +1
Reflex: +1
Skills
Handle Animal: +1
Knowledge (nature): +1
Perception: +1
Stealth: +1
Survival: +1
Feats
3rd: Augment Summoning
1st Mythic: Dual Path (Guardian: Guardian's Call - Beast's Fury)
Abilities
Divine Surge - Inspired Spell
Hard to Kill (Does this apply before or after the effect of my racial ability, Heart of the Wilderness?)
Icewalking
Mythic Power (5/day)
Mythic Surge +1d6
Path Ability (Mighty Summons)
I think that's it...
As for continued Mythic Progression:
2nd Tier - Supreme Tracker
3rd Tier - Mythic Wild Shape
4th Tier - ?
5th Tier - ?

Lucent, I'm going to have to take you up on that. Speaking with my therapist this weekend, I reached the conclusion that over committing myself has been part of the issue that I'm experiencing. The pantry is the first thing that Talavuc raided following the battle and cleaning of her quarterstaff. I didn't expect such a long march, but going without rations... Foolish! Her stomach grumbled as Naasvit clawed at one of the cabinets and she made her way over. Naasvit barreled in before she had it fully open. She shook her head as he emerged with a mouthful of dried meat. Not the best for him, but we're both hungry enough... Damn, I want something raw myself. She sighed and continued to dig through the stores, pulling what she could from them.
After making what meal she could from the cabin's stores, she made her way back to Styvanus. "I'll need rest, but it doesn't need to be uninterrupted. Wake me for whichever watch you desire." She smiles softly at him and starts to head off, but pauses. "Naasvit noticed something by the bridge, although I'm not sure what. Whatever still lurks in these woods may know about our attack on this place." She thought about the fairies. I doubt that man could've commanded them himself. She shook her head and made her way to where the mink had already curled up for the night. The nearby window would hopefully provide some light to wake her in the morning. She stroked Naasvit's head softly before laying down beside him, resting her head on him like a pillow. A slow smile spread across her face at her friend's warmth as she drifted off to sleep.

Alright, I'm cutting back my games in an attempt to lessen my anxiety. I've been keeping up with the discussion thread, but not the gameplay one. It's gonna taken me some time to read through the back logged posts. I'll try and have a post up this evening. Crossing my fingers...

I think I mentioned that I'm running a game IRL of Jade Regent, but if not, I'm running a game of Jade Regent.
I'll get on making a gameplay post, post haste. Life is... Yeah... Mentally not doing as well as I'd like, honestly. No excuse for my tardiness, though.
Female Human (erutaki) Druid (arctic) 3 / Guardian/Hierophant 1
Naasvit moved along with Talavuc as they rounded the encampment and he could already tell why they were circling. The notion of hunting passed through the mink's mind as he crept alongside his friend. They neared the strange, smooth-faced one and paused. He looked up at her to find a clue for what was to come next. She gave a few quick gestures, moving her lips silently in the darkness, but none of it was anything they had practiced. So he settled into place and hunched down, ready for the sign to attack. They had practiced that.
Talavuc gave a silent sigh as her attempts to get Naasvit to do something they had never practiced failed. There's still a great deal more to teach him. She gave the mink a resigned pat on the head. He tensed as she did so and glanced up, likely to see if something was wrong. She shook her head, a very human response to her companion who didn't think in those terms, and set her sling to spinning, waiting to see the outcome of the initial stage.

Talavuc and Naasvit will approach the edge of the shadowy illumination, keeping far enough from Teladon to keep a decent coverage in case someone tries to run.
Female Human (erutaki) Druid (arctic) 3 / Guardian/Hierophant 1
I'd been assuming that everyone had seen something I hadn't. Man, I need to not just go along with it...
Female Human (erutaki) Druid (arctic) 3 / Guardian/Hierophant 1
I'd imagine having Teladon (if he's going to be going along) in the middle of the path to the cabin would be best with myself and Naasvit to each side of him to try and catch them if they go a different direction. We're both fairly stealthy (Talavuc's got a +6 with armor and Naasvit's got a +8), so hopefully we can pretty easily make it around them, especially if we both put a little distance between the camp and ourselves as we move into position.
Female Human (erutaki) Druid (arctic) 3 / Guardian/Hierophant 1
Talavuc stretched her fingers, moving them to help fight off the cold that slowly kept seeping in through her gloves. The familiar sensations of the winter's cold of her home was more unsettling than familiar at this point. The freezing wall of wind saw to that. She patted Naasvit on the top of the head, imaging his thoughts about a warm fire and food. "Soon," she whispered to the mink as she kneeled down and gave her companion a quick hug.
She looked back to to the group and took a couple of steps closer. She nods to Rasso, "I've stalked many a prey animal before, especially in this terrain. I agree with our..." She looks at the elf, with a sudden realization, "I don't believe you've given your name." She pauses for a moment before continuing, "I agree with him," she gestures to Teladon. "Trip lines to stop a runner, especially if they send more than one would be ideal."
She blows out a sharp puff of breath, "Do we have any idea of how many men they have up there?" She glances at Ar'Zarrcal and Fenyx as she notices their condition, particularly noting the shivering mage. A slight frown crosses her face. That manipulator of the unholy unliving... Still, he is a member of this team. "Do either of you need healing? I still have some power left in my wand."

@Lucent: Just noticed the healing rolled for the wand. It should be at 1st caster level, so +1 on the roll. Still covers the damage, though. :) I love the touch about Naasvit's thoughts. I think I'll include that a bit more.
Female Human (erutaki) Druid (arctic) 3 / Guardian/Hierophant 1

Focusing on ensuring the rope is tight, Talavuc is slow to react to the ambush. The ice is attacking us? She shakes her head and glances about, watching as the rest bound into action, combating the opponents that have appeared before them.
She lets out a shrill whistle, pointing at the elemental that Ar'Zarrcal was squaring off against. The giant mink rushes forward, lashing out with its jaws, trying to carve a chunk off the mass of ice with his teeth.
Seeing that Ordrud has crossed the ice, she drops the rope, stows her wand, and grips her spear, pulling it from over her shoulder.

How far can I move from the spot I'm at while holding onto the rope that's tied to Ordrud? I'm not massively worried about it, since he's already across, but I figured I'd ask to get an idea of exactly how much slack there is.
Female Human (erutaki) Druid (arctic) 3 / Guardian/Hierophant 1
The wall of wind surprises the druid. I've not heard stories of this with the morozkos, but how many have survived such storms? Most strange... Who commands this storm?
Talavuc eyes the trap to the side. "I'm with Ordrud on this. The trap isn't even in front of us. Let's just go around it." She pulls the wand from her belt and holds it ready, letting her weapons hang at her side and back. Naasvit stirs restlessly, obviously wanting to find a place to sleep for the moment. She pats him on the head, providing the mink a reminder of the situation around him. Take 10 on Handle Animal for a 21.

Talavuc's eyes widen slightly as she enters the clearing with the rest of her companions, but rather than taking interest in the corpses with the others, she paces slowly, keeping a watchful eye towards the edges. In her mind, the thought of a momentary rest is discomforting, a reminder of what she and her mink are being denied at the moment. Movement is life, stillness is death, she tells herself, glancing at the bodies. If they were sneaking upon this place, it would be different, but the open march lends to her a different thought process. Naasvit, however, seems to have other ideas and quickly finds a place to curl up in low place in the snow. She's glances down at him with a bit of worry evident in her eyes.
As she paces, she takes a look at the frozen bodies. A better fate than that one. She frowns as her gaze shifts to the animate corpse that's following them. A useful tool... She shakes her head, hardly able to believe what she's agreed to. She refocuses her thoughts outward, though, and turns back to look towards the forest.
Female Human (erutaki) Druid (arctic) 3 / Guardian/Hierophant 1
My apologies for the delay. I've been dealing with IRL things. Hopefully it won't occur again.
Female Human (erutaki) Druid (arctic) 3 / Guardian/Hierophant 1
Earlier...
Talavuc reached for the wand at her belt, but hesitated after Styvanus' order enough for Marcellano to reach the fey first. That should be fine enough. I don't want to use more of what little magic remains in the wand on an enemy... She sighs and keeps to herself while the group readies to get underway again.
Currently...
Talavuc trudges forward in the snow, Naasvit close on her heels. While the hunger pangs in her stomach are bothersome, the fatigue creeping into her limbs and mind are more concerning. It reminds her of the time she had spent in the wilderness, having to sleep in short shifts and stay on the move constantly. It wasn't the animals in the wilds, but the monsters that provided the worst threat. Too much risk for too little reward when you're living like that. Being injured while alone can be a death sentence and almost was a couple of times.
She looks up and around, gazing at her companions, especially the giant mink with her for a few moments. We seem to work well together. Will it last? She gives Naasvit's head a quick rub. Her eyes return to scanning the tree line, trying to keep a watchful, if drained, eye on the woods surrounding them.

Talavuc looks at the fairy in Ordrud's hand and then over to her recovering companions, especially Naasvit. The mink slowly walked over to her, obviously sore from the twitching and thrashing he had been doing in the snow. It'll pass quickly, but still... She sighs and looks to the half-orc, "Part of me wants to, for some odd reason, but these fey have shown their intentions. They do not change, not their base nature, at least not as easy as we might. If you are going to kill it, please do it quickly." She sighs and looks around the field once again. "Does anyone need to be healed?" she asks as she unconsciously rubs the side of her thigh where the sprite's arrow had pierced her hides.
Her vision looks briefly over the the stilled undead, but stops briefly at the controlled one still standing in the snow. Damn... Another 'tool'? This feels just as wrong as creating them in the first place. She lets out a deep breath, trying to draw up more resolve and patience with the issue. Just don't think about it for the time being, she says to herself as she buries the feelings.

Round 3 - Initiative 21
Seeing the chaos go on around her, Talavuc pauses, waiting t see how the events will turn out. She looks down at her writhing companion. Please be all right soon. The changing battlefield shifts so favorably, though, that she simply looks down at her sling with dismay. Only bladed weapons will be effective... crosses her mind as she looks at the zombies struggling in the snow.
Seeing a lack of opening for her own weapons to be effective, she steps over the snow to near Rasso and casts a spell, going through the gestures understood not by rote, but by divine guidance. [b]"Благословена Циљ!" she shouts as her free hand moves, touching it to Rasso. The energy flows invisibly from her hand, a divine blessing to help him strike true.

Talavuc looked about while her companions spoke about the corpse. If it is undead like the others we have encountered, then it will attack sooner rather than later. If not, then the body may be placed as a lure. Either way, this could very easily be a trap set by the ones we pursue. She begins to comb the ground, looking for more clues as to what the body might have been doing. Sighting the arrows causes her to pause for a moment. Fairies...

She nods to Ordrud, replacing the wand in its protective sheath. "I'll save the magic for later then. It will likely come in helpful later." She looks down at the bodies of the two tatzlwyrms. "Waste not, want not... is a common saying these lands, no?" Talavuc pulls her any-tool from her backpack, shaping it into a skinning knife. Kneeling down just as Ordrud uncovers the Lance-Corporal, she gasps, surprised, and staggers back a step, rising to avoid falling into the snow.
Talavuc watches Ordrud for a moment, paying attention to his reaction. She steps toward the corpse and Ordrud after he speaks to the group, looking at him with a vaguely worried countenance on her pierced and tattooed face. "Did you count him as a friend, or as a fellow warrior?" Her tone is solemn and she speaks just slightly slow.
Female Human (erutaki) Druid (arctic) 3 / Guardian/Hierophant 1
My guess would be Survival as well, due to its use in hunting and gathering. Gotta have some knife skills in there somewhere.

Talavuc gives a low whistle as the last tatzlwyrm falls. She pats Naasvit as he lopes back to her. She looks to Fenyx, "Is there a chance that the flesh would be poisonous?" A look of concern appears on her face, "I would like Naasvit to have a bit if not. He's not eaten properly for a while." She smiles softly at the necromancer, hoping for a positive answer.
The erutaki pulls a thin stick of wood from a tube of leather that hangs down her thigh. "Although none of the magics I have communed for are able to heal, I do carry a wand with such spells, just in case. It's been heavily used, but should last for a bit longer." She walks over to Ordrud and speaks a word in her native tongue, "подмлађивање." She grins for just a second after she says it, So much better than the common tongue. It just feels right to her. She touches the tip of the wand to Ordrud and watches, inspecting him while his wounds close. Seeing that they have not closed fully, she speaks the word again, "подмлађивање" and his wounds close over, leaving behind large bruises and other more minor injuries. She looks up at the towering half-orc, "Better or would you like another spell?"

She turned herself and headed for the tatzlwyrm as the mink came to a halt in the snow and switched his direction. We need to kill it quickly before it inflicts more wounds. As she looked at Rasso, the question of what the wyrm was truthfully doing to him rushed through her mind. What damage is it doing? How badly does it afflict him? It certainly seemed to wound him, though. Her mouth was a grim line as she readied her spear.

She lets the sling in her hand fall into the snow and grabs the spear hanging on straps from her back, readying the weapon, smiling a bit to herself as she feels the comforting weight in her hands.
Naasvit bounds through the snow, heading directly for the tatzlwyrm. I've seen and avoided them before, but never fought one. I don't like this. She grimaced and trudged through the deep snow, following her friend.

Yeah, I find the penalty ludicrous. It's pretty much a feat tax to me for ranged characters, and one that's not the first feat in the change, but rather the second.

With the tatzlwyrms going first, I doubt that ranged attacks from anyone are going to be particularly effective. Did I ever mention that I hate the -4 to hit with ranged attacks in melee. I understand it, but that doesn't make me hate it less.
Good thing muskets are ranged touch in the first range increment even so.

Talavuc noted to strange patterns in the snow. "Surely this can't be what it lo-" she whispers to herself before the tatzlwyrms sudden appearance startles her and cuts her off midsentence.
Naasvit growled low at the tatzlwyrm, dropping his forepaws to the ground and arching his back. It was a defensive display, often used when confronted by something the mink didn't consider prey. His master and friend might not know what to do, but he did. Instinct drove his reactions.
