I lost a few players in my Roll20 campaign a while back and I'm looking for a few more to liven in up a bit.

We play on Tuesday nights, meeting on average between 7pm and 7:30pm and ending around midnight, all EST.

The characters are currently in the erutaki village of Iqaliat at a celebration before leaving. Make a character that will have a reason to join the caravan and travel away from the village.

The current party consists of two PCs, a vishkanya ninja/monk and a hobgoblin monk, both unarmed specialists. Skills are largely covered, so I'm looking for arcane and divine support, as well as a tank or support character.

I'm looking for people who can work in a group. The characters need to get along, although there is room for friction.

Character Creation:

Modified Point-Buy: Place a free 18 in any one ability score, then distribute 15 points amongst the other five scores
Races: Core, APG, UM, UC, ARG.
Classes: Core, APG, UM, UC, ARG.
Hit Points: Max at 1st; After 1st: d6 = d4 + 2, d8 = d5 + 3, d10 = 1d6 + 4, d12 = 1d7 + 5
Starting Level: 8th
Traits: 3, 1 must serve to tie the character to the caravan (at this point in the game, it doesn't have to be a campaign specific trait, but it can be)
Alignment: Preferably non-evil, although a well-explained, team-player evil character MIGHT work
Starting Wealth: Standard for 8th level, 33,000 gp.
Backgrounds: I expect a well-written background that ties the character into the AP. The more effort that the background shows, generally the better. I like the format that I've seen used by others, the 10-minute background. In-character stories are good ways to portray your character and I frequently write ones for my own characters. Interesting character hooks for me to work off in the future is also a plus.

I'll keep the recruitment until Monday midnight, but if I don't get enough people, I'll keep it open longer.

So I'm taking over a pre-existing game of S&S here on the boards, but we've lost a few people. I'm looking to recruit 2, perhaps 3, good players to round out the roster. We've currently got a bones oracle, a gunslinger, and a witch, so a melee character and maybe a skill monkey are preferred. However, I looking for good submissions before the roles they fill.

My expectations of a player:

  • Able to post once daily. I understand that life gets in the way, so long as it feels like you’re posting daily, I’m good. Issues come up in my own life as well, but I’d ask that you inform me if something is coming up that is going to keep you away.

  • Quality posting. I prefer not to have to root through spelling mistakes and terrible grammar. Consistent structure is a boon.

  • The ability to work in a team together. I don’t mind party conflict as long as people are enjoying it. It can often add spice to the game. I’ve seen this only happen amongst people that communicate and are up for it. Which is to say, not often. Thus, I am leery of it.

  • Keep talking, even if it is only in the discussion thread. Ask questions, be proactive rather than reactive. I don’t mind handling questions for things that you might even be the least little unsure about. PM me about problems, plans, goals, if you had an issue with a call I made, so on and so forth. Communication is key to me.

  • Roleplaying. I love engaging others in telling stories rather than playing a skirmish game. Personally, I still feel that this is one of my weak points, and I want to have players that engage and challenge not only myself, but also the other players.

  • People who are willing to do risky things. I like to reward those that try to pull off unlikely, but epic stunts. It's not about trying to do anything that comes to mind, but rather about throwing some memorable actions into play.

Building a Character:

I’m usually good with anything from Paizo, but I’m typically leery of 3rd party stuff. That said, feel free to ask about anything. I reserve the right to veto anything.
Point-Buy: 20 points
Races: Core, APG, UM, UC, ARG, BoA, BoF.
Classes: Core, APG, UM, UC, ARG.
Hit Points: Max at 1st, Average + 1 after 1st
Starting Level: 2nd
Traits: 2, 1 must be a campaign trait
Alignment: Any, although see above about teamwork. Alignment cannot be used as an excuse to not get along with the party and contribute.
Backgrounds: I expect a well-written background that ties the character into the AP. At least a paragraph in length, although what I’m looking for is an entertaining read

I'll keep the recruitment open for a few days. Probably looking at starting back up by Monday or Tuesday.

A missive finds its way into the hands of six different souls in the city of Magnimar. It reads:

Greetings, fellow seeker of adventure! I am Sheila Heidmarch, Venture Captain of the newest Pathfinder Society lodge—and the only such lodge in Varisia at this time. You have come to my attention as someone who possesses a certain amount of skills and interests that make you an excellent addition to a highly specialized team I’m putting together for a matter of grave import, not only to the Society, but to Varisia as a whole. Please report an hour before noon to Heidmarch Manor—you will be compensated for your visit, but that reward will pale in light of the riches that await you should we come to an agreement on my proposition to you. I look forward to meeting you soon! —Sheila Heidmarch

It's their first hint at the upcoming struggle. To each, there is a slight pull, a desire contained in this message. It's almost as if a small bit of fate is bound into each of those simple pieces of paper.

You each find yourselves, at different points, outside the large manor known as Heidmarch Manor, the one and only Pathfinder Lodge in Varisia. The place seems right at home in the upscale Alabaster district of Magnimar. However, the gates in the stone wall that surrounds the manor grounds lie open, a single guard sitting nearby, reclining in a chair. The place is inviting, if not a bit out-of-place here.

He offers a simple nod to those that pass into the grounds. "If'n yer here on Society biz'ness, then jus' ring tha' bell at tha' door."

A small pond sits between you and the front patio of the manor home, small paths winding around it to the patio and around the sides of the manor. A small building lies to the left, as does an atrium attached to the manor. A small series of hedges, perhaps a small maze lies to the right. On the patio, there is a small brass bell. As you approach the bell, you can see that the exterior is covered in intricate carvings depicting a number of soaring hawks, falcons, and other birds of prey.

The bell rings at the slightest touch, and you feel a bit of warmth from the missive in your pocket. The front door of the manor opens at the ring of the bell, a middle-aged varisian man standing at the entrance. "I assume that you are Pathfinders and members of the Society are always welcome here at Heidmarch Manor. Please come in. Lady Heidmarch is busy at the moment, so please wait here in the foyer. She'll come to get you as soon as her pressing business is finished." He steps to the side to allow entrance. "Ah, forgive my manners. My name is Alexandre and I am a servants of Lady Heidmarch. Might you desire a refreshment while you wait?"

Feel free to arrive, interact, and so on at your leisure.

Welcome, everyone! I'd like everyone to check-in before we begin and finalize character decisions.

So, I’ve been on the boards for a little bit and I’m looking at running another game here on the boards. A bit of background on me: I’ve been running games for over a decade and a half and most of that is an edition or incarnation of D&D. I love games of every stripe, so I’ve taken at least a look at most many things in different genres, but my knowledge is far from all encompassing. I like to have my posts organized, legible, and clearly marked.

I’m aiming for a group size of 5 to 6 characters, depending largely on how many interesting submissions I get.

My expectations of a player:

  • Able to post once daily. I understand that life gets in the way, so long as it feels like you’re posting daily, I’m good. Issues come up in my own life as well, but I’d ask that you inform me if something is coming up that is going to keep you away.

I’ll keep the recruitment board open until next week, likely around Thursday or Friday. I’ll announce the close at least a day beforehand. If people wish to roleplay amongst their prospects, I’m game, but please keep it out of the recruitment thread. I’ll make a separate thread for it if there’s enough interest.
