I hope you go get to buy them, as I'd like to patch some of the design flaws in the 3.X system, so gameplay is smooth and just as fast from level 1 to level 20+

If you request a game based on a that Novel series,

then I request;
The Rising of the Shield Hero (Light Novel)
That time I was reincarnated as a Slime (Light Novel)
I reincarnated as a spider, so What (Light Novel)
Log Horizon (Light Novel)
Surviving The Game As A Barbarian (Webtoon)
The Eminence in Shadow (Light Novel)
Tsukimichi-The moonlight fantasy (Light Novel)
Gate - Thus the JSDF Fought There (Light Novel)
KonoSuba (Light Novel)
Combatants Will be Dispatched (Light Novel)
By the Grace of the Gods (Light Novel)
and I have many others on my list as a option for the request.

So to avoid this type of crap, We should all avoid requesting the GM for a specific novel/Manga/Anime series to base the game on.

The GM might be wanting to make their own isekai world.

Dotting with interest

Something that could be a good twist, is that character generation is not full selection, but controlled chaos.

As I have a PB-Dice hybrid system for stat generation (random stats, but no power gaps between players), and I've run a game where race and class are semi-randomised, which all the players enjoyed giving a try at building a character from some predefined parts handed to them by fate.

The semi-random aspect in a away mimics Isekai where the person had a new body outside of their control like;
That time I was reincarnated as a Slime
and
I reincarnated as a spider, so What
among others,
Though with KonoSuba he reincarnated as himself....

I can easily see how I'd lay out the Character Creation rules (as I've GMed on the boards for a long time) to fit most Isekai novels, Manga, and Anime (I have a ton of them I've read, or seen), as I know a number of options that would work well with it, and how to balance them....

I can offer my input for Character creation rules, TheNine, if you want some of my ideas on it.

Hey

Since this past weekend the Forum has been slower, buggier, and crashing more frequently.

I even saw a post of some of my fellow PBP players in a recruitment thread mention that even the PMs were having issues.

More then just the PMs, the whole paizo board is unstable and super slow at times.

Welcome to the Paizo boards,

Since your New to the boards.

This is an interest thread, the recruitment thread will be up later.
The prequel adventure for the adventure is getting started.

and as GMM mentioned in another thread, read the posts for GM closing a game or re-opening a recruitment for a game.
along with other posts in the thread as their might be something important in them.

If you want an idea of the possible Character creation rules for the incoming Sunless Citadel recruitment,
check the Prequel adventure, as some parts will be kept, other parts tossed.
Coffee Dragon will post up the final Sunless Citadel character creation rules in the official recruitment thread.

For posts you make, you only get 1 hour to edit them, or delete them.
So make sure you got as much right as possible before the hour is up.

Subforums on the Paizo boards can focus / defocus on threads you've posted, or read (provided their was a new post), it's near the top around near the forum search box.

Also aliases will be used, and no Alias can have the same name as another, so might want to have both a last and first name for any aliases you make.

There is also a RP format for text on the boards that gets used by everyone
"Bold text for Speaking"
"Italics for Thought"
"Bold Italics for telepathy or other means of speaking mentally."

There is an Out Of Character text for questions out of character in a gameplay thread.

And if you use the word "Smurf" your avatar will be a random smurf avatar.

LOL, how fitting I got Papa Smurf.

Chrome delisted the add-on as "not following best practices." Unless Oladon rebuilds it, it's unlikely to return.

Well, you should clarify, it won't return to Chrome and likely any Chrome based browsers.

Firefox and those based on it are fine for the extension.

Their Last post is from over a Year ago, Dated in Feb of 2024.

RL likely has done something.

And around in 2022 Chrome, and other Chrome based browsers have been forced onto Manifest v3, removing Manifest v2 which was made to disable Ad-blockers from working along with other valuable plugins for the past few years.

Firefox on the other hand, are allowing the running of Manifest v2 which means Ad-blockers work, along with other Plugins that Manifest v3 breaks. But Firefox also has Manifest v3 support for extensions in their browser.

This means if you wanna use the Paizo Forum plug-in, your gonna have to take the dive and use Firefox, or a Firefox derivative browser.

The door is closing on the recruitment.
Might be the only chance to snag some options that'll be denied later.

The only version that still works is the Firefox version.

Good Gaming to the chosen.

So it seems that 2nd table would have

2nd table:

Rune - ?? Aasimar Cleric 2 / Brawler 1
Basil - Elven Ranger (Combat Style: Archery) 3
Liam - monk(scaled fist)/fighter (dragonheir scion)
Alaïs - Elf Skald (Bacchanal, Court Poet) 3
Will - Half-Elf (Kellid) arcanist 3

Well if folks are interested I have a recruitment running for another game, that would lead into recruitment for another game run by a different GM.

The Raccoon specials were first (The first 2 If I recall right), before the TV show really started. I'll need to check to see if they have a COMPLETE copy of The Lost Star Special, as it was a Hour Long special and most specials were 30 minutes so a lotta folks only recorded the first half of it as they programmed their VCRs to record the special.

Man I enjoyed that First Raccoons Special, as it was a Christmas special that first introduced us to a number of the characters.

Though a certain tree is out of place with the Ranger Station and the Raccoon home in the rest of the series for the first special....

The Raccoons wasn't the only cartoon made in Canada at the time, as that same company worked on a few cartoons, thought The Raccoons was their most well known one in Canada. And they did work on a few other cartoons I used to watch.

Though in 1994, Reboot the FIRST fully 3D animated show aired on TV ever and it was made by a Canadian Company named Mainframe Entertainment.
And Reboot did Parody or reference some 90's culture (sometimes as a cameo moment) like; X-Files, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Sailor Moon, Xena, Mars Attacks, and other shows and movies. First Season and Most of the 2nd Season were Episodic, After that it was more Saga based in that each ep was it's own and a part of a bigger story within it's 4 episode saga, and each Saga picked up where the last one left off.

That Mainframe Entertainment also made Transformers: Beast Wars (Beasties in Canada), and Shadow Raiders.

--------------------

Canadian TV was also broadcasting Heritage Minutes on TV during the 90's covering short pieces of Canadian History.

I also recall the Docu-Drama series from the States in the 90's called Rescue 911, you can find Eps of that on Youtube.
Good for reminding folks of the tech we had back then along with a few other things.

Got more of Leona done.

As I got around to filling in the equipment.

Only really need to iron out some of the effects of her curse, and if they might need some mechanical impacts.

Sounds fair, as RL can throw monkey wrenches and there are some great submissions given.

Given my agent's history and curse, I kind need a custom skill set then the ones in the free handout book.
Picked up the agent handbook to see how to layout a custom skill set if it is in there

As I made a template text file and started plugging in the data with my rolled stats.

Yeah some issues of Dragon had some nice gag articles released in April issues.

I have a few, and even some of the other (not April) issues have some funny stuff in them like the one from the perspective of a trap maker who made some creative traps, like one that traps folks with a recording of a lecturing mother-in-law until the authorities pick get around to picking them up.

Ok, hearing the idea of tanking traps, that is partially legit.

Though I then have to wonder if they are like *Dias, who tanked traps only due to his broken physical stats, and low INT, like a stereotypical dumb fighter.

a reference to a MC of the series The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects

He thought his Paladin could fill in a role that is an antithesis to his class's code of conduct.

What the Smurf, my head hurts thinking someone thought it would be a good idea...
If you have the word Smurf in a post, you get a smurf avatar for that post. Old Forum thing on the boards

A Rogue is a role that also has a high demand for a LOT of skill points which the Paladin class barely provides any of and would be a pain to manage with so few skill points and Paladin not really needing a good INT stat....

I'm so dumbfounded from reading that a Paladin thought he could do a rogue's job, that is just so....
what is the word I'm looking for....

I typically shoot for 5 assuming someone will drop fairly early.

Its an interesting mix of characters, I am considering seeing how two 5 person tables might look. I should not do two tables, I know, but OTOH, I am only GMing one currently active game and playing in one other (which hasn't fully started yet). I just know if I try to run two tables though, my older games will suddenly have new life lol.

Yeah, Good Ol Murphy's Law.

Best thing to do is bribe his little gremlin minions with some de-caffe coffee so they take a break in their break room for a good long while.

----

The CotCT game, I got into just recently had 3 players dropped in the first 3 pages out of the 6 that initially.
And one out of the 3 replacements, another dropped.
So might be better to aim a bit higher then 5.
As there are generally about 2 drop outs.

Niccan Tol wrote:

Sad to say but you could probably take all 10 and have a proper party of 6 within 2 months due to attrition....

Interesting mix, 1 mage and 1 rogue.

That, or GM runs two tables and sees which one dies first.

As 10 Players is a bit much for a full module, 8 would be more managable and if so, the Assault types would likely be getting the short end of the stick since there are more of them then any other category.

hmm,

We have 10 submissions, and a unknown number of party member slots.
If it is 4-6 members, everyone is at about a 50/50 chance of getting picked.
Though if one factors in players that tend to suddenly drop within the first few pages of the game and up the player count to 6-8 to account for it, we sit at or near 75% chance of getting in.

Wow, yeah that would be some fun times, Prey and Predator, Order and Chaos.

I can imagine you pranking the poor rat a few times, like a cat playing with it's prey.

Well it might be as fun as My character and the Paladin if the paladin figures out her secret.
Not sure how any of the other character submissions would handle it though.

Note this link takes you to a StartPlaying recruitment page.

The GM charges $15 per "session," where a session is 1 week of players posting and then once at the end of the week the GM posts results. Imaging playing Kingmaker at 1 action per week where your account is autodrafted $15/week.

That is disgusting....

reminds me of those old Hotlines that bill you by the minute, and they purposely drag out the call to get the most money out of you.

Yeah your in the Language clear, as Orc is listed as a Bonus Language for Catfolk,

Though doing a double check on racial bonus languages, it seems Elves do have Celestial as an option but not abyssal, and Half-elves can take any non-secret language.
As I was seeing about half the subs taking planar languages, and I recalled not many had access to them at the start without the need to pay into Linguistucs for Planar Languages, seems I'd forgotten some core races had them as options, yet remembered that obscure language rule for clerics....

The characters will have been together since they were level one or two, prior to beginning this adventure. Feel free to come up with the team’s “origin story” up to the start of the adventure as you will.

This might be better done as a session Zero type of thing as we don't know who'll be selected, and it can be cooperatively made, could also be used to explain some of our more magical gear i.e wondrous items, since we'd not have any of them since level 1 and only gain them through the party's adventures.

It is highly recommended that at least one character speak Orc. Infernal will also be useful.

Bonus Languages: A cleric's bonus language options include Celestial, Abyssal, and Infernal (the languages of good, chaotic evil, and lawful evil outsiders, respectively). These choices are in addition to the bonus languages available to the character because of her race.

It means only Aasimar and Tieflings start with one and Clerics can take these as bonus Languages.

If a character wants one, they have to put in a skill point into Linguistics, as their race does not have them listed as bonus languages, and their class does not give it as a option.

Might be done in a few hours as I think and check my fluff for consistency,
Along with any fear, complex or quirk I can come up with to add some realistic elements to the character....

Working a bit on the fluff for my char as I get moments, and noticed I started including references to "The Raccoons" cartoon series.

Almost done the Crunch of my Cleric.

Got an idea of the character's fluff.

I had a Teacher that worked doing animation for the The Raccoons, (2nd Season to 3rd or 4th If I recall right), drawing backgrounds and animating Bert and a few other characters. He mentioned that many of his co-workers really liked animating those 3 pigs.

Since I'm having a hard time choosing, time for some dice.

    Ass\Skill: 4d90 ⇒ (10, 62, 90, 24) = 186 Paladin, *Slayer / *Ranger, Ninja
    Arc/Div: 4d90 ⇒ (87, 6, 64, 11) = 168 *Bard, Skald / *Cleric, Inquisitor

    Semi-Final: 4d90 ⇒ (30, 41, 64, 68) = 203 Slayer / Ranger / *Bard / *Cleric

    Final: 2d10 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6 Bard / Cleric Tie

    Final: 2d10 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6 Bard / *Cleric

Looks like I'm whipping up a Cleric
