Hello All

I am just fishing at the moment to see if anyone out there might be interested in a Delta Green game based in Canada. You would be working for M-EPIC, a Canadian government agency whose primary duty is protecting the Great White North from any paranormal activity. Below is a bit about the agency, and if this might interest you, then let me know. Looking for 4-5 players, and no previous knowledge is needed, as I too am new to the system.

We Stand on Guard:

Welcome to M-EPIC- read me first!

WE STAND ON GUARD

You are an officer of the Environmental Policy Impact Commission, also called EPIC. Publicly, your organization is a very small wing of the RCMP dedicated to investigating the impact of environment-related policy on a federal and provincial level. Your duties seem very mundane and boring, and you largely only ever operate as advisors to lawmakers and to the RCMP. EPIC is a small, surprisingly well-funded but still very dull office with little bearing on the day-to-day life of the average Canadian. These are, of course, almost entirely lies presented to the public.
In truth, EPIC (called M-EPIC internally by those in the know) exists to defend Canada and its citizens from the Unnatural - the writhing terrors that lurk behind reality's veil. Understaffed but not underfunded, EPIC truly does operate as an environmental law enforcement agency, but its true purpose is far more important and far more dangerous. Using its granted judicial powers (as well as quite a few extrajudicial powers), EPIC roots out and destroys cults, monsters, artefacts, and strange phenomena that threaten the nation and its people. Its status as an official government agency rather than a nebulous conspiracy is both a blessing and a curse, allowing for better specialization, communication, supply, and response times, but also making M-EPIC more vulnerable to corruption and in greater danger of exposure.
As an officer of EPIC, you will be called on to put your life and sanity on the line again and again on M-EPIC business until eventually one of them gives out. You likely have had some small experience with the unnatural in the past, either as a catalyst for recruitment or during your previous time as an officer, and at least are mildly aware that the paranormal is real, though you certainly have no idea of its true scale and all its elements.

Ok, so that is my spiel. Let me know if you have any interest, and we can start by creating characters. I will be using the published first adventure from the box set, so if you know it but are still interested, that is fine.

So a Canadian Version of Special Unit 2, eh

Which system will the game be using?

I've been giving new systems and settings a shot lately so why not?

Have you given up on Dolemwood then?

Liberty's Edge

Still waiting for the actual books to come out....keep thinking they are on their way, only to see another pitfall!!

I was going to start with the Need to Know pdf, but I have all the most recent books.

Time period would be early to mid 1990's Canada..

Liberty's Edge

Sounds like fun! Add me to the Interested list.

Liberty's Edge

cool...ok 3 players so far...just one more and we can start making characters!!

I'm interested, but not sure if I have access to the exact ruleset you'll be using, need to check my storage when I get home.

For background, I'm an old-school Dark Conspiracy player and I was the guy telling everyone about this cool show on Fox no one around me was aware of called The X-Files, so 90s supernatural horror is second nature to me

It looks like everything I've got is pretty much original release/first edition, so I dont know how much has been updated. I'm interested but might not be able to join, no money in budget to pick up most current stuff, bleh.

Still, downloading the free quick start lol.

OK...well lets start with the quickstart rules and go from there. Looks like we have 4 people so we can move forward if everyone is good with this!?

I can go with that I think. I'm looking to make some sort of demolition expert I think. I'll have to figure out how to do that.

Having an idea of the game system and it's rules is a big thing for me.
As right now it is more a curiosity, then interest.

And yeah, I know of X-files myself, as my father liked the show before it started going a bit more down hill.

I also recall the Parody ep Reboot did of the X-files in the ep "Trust No One" with Agents Fax Modem and Data Nully (voiced by Gillian Anderson, aka, Agent Scully)

Liberty's Edge

Sounds good to me!

Do you need anything before we get rolling (character concept, or the like)?

Liberty's Edge

You can get the basics for your character fleshed out (if you happen to have the Agent's Book, you can use the professions out of there, but if possible, try to keep with the "Need to Know" document).

Post questions and characters in the discussion forum.

I am thinking about doing the "Scully" with a deep biology/medical background. The sort who is always looking for the scientific answer and is able to conduct a skillful post-mortun dispassionately.

Anyone else have any broad ideas before I commit to the doctor/forensic agent?

I'd assume we need a solid fighter specialist type and that some sort of "face" is critical. Hacker? IDK, its the 90s, so worth considering, but on the other hand, its the 90s so less things are connected, too.

Liberty's Edge

There’s already some planning going on over in the Discussion Thread.

Your concept doesn’t seem to overlap with any of the others mentioned so far.

Grand Lodge

you had me at Canadian...will check the book out..never played...but as someone who grew up in Canada in the 90's i like the idea...

Liberty's Edge

awesome...where did you grow up??

If you grew up in Canada in the 90's

I think you'll know which Show this Ending theme Came from, as it was a Canadian Made show.

Grand Lodge

Ontario....almost right smack between To and Ottawa...

Liberty's Edge

LOL...I was just south of that near Hamilton...

Raccoons FOREVER!!!! hahahah

I had a Teacher that worked doing animation for the The Raccoons, (2nd Season to 3rd or 4th If I recall right), drawing backgrounds and animating Bert and a few other characters. He mentioned that many of his co-workers really liked animating those 3 pigs.

Grand Lodge
