I enjoyed it. I saw a few plot holes, and some idiot ball passing, but all-in-all, fun.

I mean, who watches Godzilla for the plot, anyway?

PS: I forget, how long before spoilers?

I will say, when Mothra first appeared, all three of us Golarion fans had only one response. ;)

Also, if there's anything left of one character, Mothra needs to sprinkle that glowy stuff!

OK, so I discovered this thread a few days ago. I think I've caught up with all the posts and I want to add a funny story/experience we had about 10 years ago.

We (me, my hubby, and our daughter) are at King's Island theme park in cicada season. They were everywhere. (duh) At one point we go to ride Top Gun/Flight Deck/The Bat (a suspended coaster, for those who are unfamiliar with it). As we get on, a cicada lands on my husband's hand. He tries to shake it off, but it clings. He holds his hand up in the air so it will fly away - nope. He gets yelled at, they can't start the ride until he puts his arm inside the car. So, he does. Cicada sticks. Cicada gets to go on the ride. Stays with him all the way through and even once we get off. Now we're standing on the exit ramp and my daughter takes a picture, just as a record. After she does, the critter FINALLY takes off and heads out to do whatever cicada things it had left to do.

I guess it just wanted a coaster ride.

The more I think about skill feats, the more I wonder if Perception not being a skill makes sense. Doesn't that preclude Perception skill feats?

I guess you could have general feats that unlock new abilities for Perception, but I think you'd have a much richer system if you integrated Perception as a skill, and everyone automatically starts with it trained. Then you could allow people who want to be extra good at it gain proficiency in it for the numerical bonus, as well as have skill feats for it - where a Legendary one might be basically tremor sense, a master one could be automatically detecting the square an invisible character is in within 30 feet, and an expert one being ability to passively roll to spot secret doors if you pass within 5 feet as examples.

That may actually be where they're going. Perception *functions* as a skill, and gets proficiency levels and skill feats just the same way, you just don't need to spend precious skill ranks for what has been called 'the most important/overused skill in the game'.

hmm spitball here: for alignment instead of 9 lists for 9 alignments 6 lists Chaotic, Lawful, neutral on that axis, Good, Evil, Neutral on THAT axis, pick 2, so paladin gets law and good, tyrant gets law and evil, adjudicator gets law and neutral etc bolt this on to a warrior chasis, so all martial weapons, heavy armour and shields, assume all get divine health, and away you go, make them feat lists so you can fine tune things (classic paladin doesn't really have much linked to law, one who focused on justice and followed Damerrich could very well go more into that side, for instance) codes become combi deals, choas demamds this of its champions, neutrality demands this, add a deities anathema for flavour and away you go, 6 lists, and the synthesis between them makes the class(es)

I don't remembr where I found this, I lost the bookmark in a computer transfer, but here's an interesting variant on that:

Alignment Breakdown Options:

Law:
1 Justus: Fairness, Justice, the things that really matter in the Law. These are the virtues of this portion of the Alignment.
2 Canonicus: The Law is the Law. All who do not realize this are lawbreakers. It is about fair, not right: everyone plays by the same rules as everyone else.

Chaos:
1 Immunis: When someone knows who they are and what really matters, the rules just don’t matter.
2 Discord: From sun up to sun down, laws are the lies we tell ourselves to sleep at night. Only true freedom will set you free.

Good:
1 Virtuous: Valor, courage, virtue, all of these things are not only words to live by, but the salvation of the world!
2 Ius Iurus: This is you holding yourself to higher ideals.

Evil:
1 Pravus: Corruption is the name of the game, and the game pays so well. After all, there is no such thing as evil really.
2 Pessimus: When they say evil, they mean you. At the end of the day, you will do things others would pale at.

Neutral:
1 Quietus: This is the neutral of neutral, it is not that you don’t care about things but you have better things to worry about than some artificial construct of morality.
2 Pondera: This is about what really keeps the world going, Balance. To have this in either the good/evil or law/chose is to be very aware that balance between the two is best.

I've been following this thread but staying out as I don't really have a dog in this fight. However, I do have two (well, maybe three) comments.

First: Cap is a Paladin, he's following the PF2 code and has/will violate the 4th tenet to keep the other three. Thanos is not, he's a Zealot (my term for the non-paladin sacred warriors)

Second: A question for those of you wanting multiple alignment 'paladins'.

Do you actually want the full package? Do you want to find your character tied to tenets so important that you can lose everything by violating them? Because, to me, that potential sacrifice is part and parcel of a Paladin.

Also (and slightly tongue in cheek) do you really want to be responsible for multiplying the should my Paladin have fallen threads by 9?

Thanks, everyone.

This. The other contender of a name was "Vera", but I think I used that joke more recently, so I went with this one. :-)

As for exotic weapons. I don't mind it staying as that, it's a staple from earlier editions, so most experienced players will know that it's a weapon that requires more investment to use.
If it was to be changed, I'd suggest "specialist weapons", so you'd have simple, martial and specialist weapons. This seems to fit with the "... include additional abilities that make the weapon more complex" part.

Why not go with what's already there and continue the theme: Simple, Martial, Complex?

The terms balance on either end - simple to complex.

On the Spell Points issue: I saw someone up-thread who suggested Usage Points. I thought about that and kinda like it for several reasons:

1: I agree, Spell Points is ... confusing, at best.

2: We use DSP stuff and Power Points would be a source of confusion. Even if we called DSPs Psi Points instead, we'd still have TWO PP abbreviations.

3: Unlike many of the other abbreviations ending in -P (SP, XP. EP. GP...) UPs can actually be pronounced. "Have you used all of your UPs yet?" I can even see gamers calling them UPpers.

Just a semi-serious attempt to lighten the mood.

OK, fun speculation:

We can see that full casters draw from two (specific) traditions.

What if partial casters can pick from any tradition, but only ONE.

The theme/flavor for your Paladin depending on the list chosen is immense; Material for more martial types, Spiritual for more faith-oriented, Vital for the healer, Mental for the evangelistic.

Why yes, I looked it up. An elven bard named Iremiel. I didn't find anything specific about Tsuto's father except "Lonjiku's wife Atsuii never revealed who the father was".

From a post from 2013 in James' thread:

As far as I know, Tsuto's father is never named or detailed anywhere. Is there any canon material on him, or am I free to let my creativity run wild?

From my (mostly unpublished) Kaijitsu family timeline that I was working with during Jade Regent's first adventure... (spoilered since there are some SIGNIFICANT Jade Regent spoilers in there... and the dates might not 100% match up with the final published info in Jade Regent)

Spoiler:
4685 AR Rokuro arranges to have a beautiful young Tian woman named Atsuii betrothed to his son. Lonjiku and Atsuii are married later in the year at the Sandpoint Cathedral.
4687 Rokuro and Lonjiku travel to Brinewall to finalize the Kaijitsu move south to Magnimar, but when Lonjiku accidently exposes the Amatatsu Seal and alerts the Five Storms, things fall apart. Rokuro sends his son and family south, but the three ships are caught in a violent storm. Two are driven ashore in Brinestump Marsh, while the third bearing Lonjiku is lost in the Varisian Gulf for many weeks. Convinced her family has died, Anya commits suicide. Five Storms oni and ninjas attack and destroy Brinewall, but do not learn that Lonjiku survived the storm, or that his family now lives in Sandpoint. In the midst of her despair over the apparent loss of her husband, Atsuii seeks comfort in the arms of her previous lover from her time in Kintargo, an elven adventurer named Arinellus. He arrives in Sandpoint to comfort Atsuii only three days before a badly damaged ship limps into the harbor. Shocked and relieved to see her husband survived, Atsuii sends a frustrated Arinellus away and spends the next several weeks helping Lonjiku recover from his ordeal and to repair the damage done to the family’s holdings.
4688 All of Atsuii’s hard work at repairing her family after the tragedy nearly falls apart when she gives birth later in the year to a half-elf named Tsuto, the scandalous truth comes out. Enraged, Lonjiku disowns the half-elf and sends him to Turandarok Academy in Sandpoint to be raised as a bastard ward rather than give him the honor of being raised a true Kaijitsu.
4689 Ameiko Kaijitsu is born to Lonjiku and Atsuii. She is destined to be the only one of Lonjiku’s legitimate children, and thus the only Kaijitsu scion with a legitimate claim to the Jade Throne in Minkai.
4702 After a disastrous attempt to reconcile the bad blood between her half-brother and her father results in her brother striking her, Ameiko runs away from home shortly before the events of the “Late Unpleasantness” bring tragedy to Sandpoint. Atsuii Kaijitsu dies during these events of a mysterious fall from the sea cliff near her home.
4703 Word of her mother’s death causes Ameiko to return home, but she finds home as unpleasant as ever. Tsuto walks out on the family at the funeral, leaving Ameiko alone with her bitter father.
4705 Aged 16, Ameiko leaves home for the second time to take up life as an adventurer with several like-minded youths. Her adventuring career lasts just over a year.
4706 Rich from her adventuring success, Ameiko returns to Sandpoint to purchase an old tavern, “The Rusty Dragon,” and scandalizes her father by becoming a bartender and tavern keeper.

Dafuq?

*backfoot headscratch*

Finn loves Rey. She's kind of his sole motivation for.. well. Everything since escaping the first order.

If you die to protect what you love, that's okay.

So if Finn died to protect Rey, that would have been alright, but dying to protect everyone in the cave (or at least buy more time for help to arrive) isn't the right thing to do because....?

He wasn’t dying to protect Rey though, he was dying to hopefully buy the Resistance some time... which his death wouldn’t have done.

But doesn't that sound exactly like what Holdo did?

I really do wish that the First Order actually suffered consequences from their mothership getting destroyed and their leader killed, but instead they just keep moving on to kill our heroes as if nothing ever happened.

Starkiller Base getting destroyed. Doesn't matter.
The supership that destroyed the original rebel base getting blown up itself. Doesn't matter.
The Supremacy getting blown up? Doesn't really matter except for the tracker getting destroyed, but I guess they can always build another one.

The First Order really needs a nerf.

Maybe they found the StarForge?

Also... some 20 years had passed and, as has been established, many droids look the same. C-3PO also had been 'wiped' and wouldn't have recognized them, either. You could make a case that part of the reason Owen took 3PO was due to a vague memory of a similar droid all those years ago.

Quoting from the RotRl AE version:

By land, the journey to Turtleback Ferry from Magnimar is a voyage of nearly 400 miles through lightly patrolled rural terrain along the north bank of the Yondabakari River. By foot, at a speed of 30 feet, this amounts to a 2-week journey, while on horseback at a speed of 60 feet it's only a week-long trip. alternatively, the PCs can take one of the many river barges that ply the Yondabakari and Skull Rivers from Magnimar all the way to Turtleback Ferry (at a total cost of 50 gp per person - with a DC 20 Diplomacy check, the Lord-Mayor agrees to pay the party's passage), in which case the journey also takes a week.
