No news on this yet! Is this something you'd look forward to? Not only would I get the Pans, but I would also get the Battle Cards. Just an idea, since Pawns Collections have been a rather costly endeavor is there a way would could do a pre-order or crowd source the first run of Pawns? I have spoken with some players and GMs who love getting the PDFs of the pawns and print their own, so doing a PDF instead of a full blown run would be helpful also. Especially for AP's or other Adventure modules.
Has there been an announcement of when the conversion from the current store to the new store will happen? Since my wife and I have been involved with Paizo since 2013, both of us being Venture Officers, and having a lot of subscriptions, we have a lot in our Library. I'm trying to make sure I get it all downloaded to make sure we don't lose anything, and I just want to make sure I'm budgeting my time properly to get this done and still do what I need to IRL. Thanks!
I like what was announced for the Adventure Paths, so I don't have to go over what has already been stated. But are there any plans to make Pawn Collections for the AP's like we used to get? If they are not very popular, can we at least get a PDF product so we can more easily print our own? Could we do a Crowdfunding model where people pre-order them? Here's my TLDR on the proposed changes to PFS. Leave them as proposed only. Please do not implement these changes. Here's my reasoning why. Level bands - It is already hard enough to play a character through a particular storyline when the level ranges jump so severely. See the Burning Sun Orcs story arc where the middle scenario is too high a level for the conclusion of the story. Or some of the Metaplot stories. If Paizo is going for the continuing adventure theme, please fix that error going forward. Reducing the level range of scenarios complicates this process even further. Add the varying levels of Player Characters coming in and it quickly becomes a scheduling nightmare. A lot of the tables I have run or played at usually did have 6 players, but many had 5 or less. Some only 2. Some of our local venues have put the player cut-off at 5 instead of 6 to make combats run more efficiently. And as a 5-Glyph GM with over 200 tables run, I can say it is less complicated to add opponents or bumps for more players, than reducing. It is more complicated to prep an encounter when you have 8 different monsters to use based on the different CP adjustments. Just change THAT instead! The reduction in planned time is a mixed bag for me. We have had some scenarios take over 6 hours to complete, and others less than 2. Streamlining this better would be great and I'd love it! But, most of all, this is time out of the house with my friends. Add the "shrinkflation" of getting less for the same cost, and it is really disappointing, if not depressing. The last thing I'm going to touch on is the removal of the monster stat blocks. I remember when we did NOT have them in PFS1, and was so happy when we were told they would now be included. When they were in the 2E scenarios, I honestly rejoiced! Having those stat blocks was a SIGNIFICANT reduction in the complexity of GMing. Now I'm hearing in the back of my head, "It's ok, you can use the Battle Cards" as a solution to a problem that shouldn't exist. Maybe it's just me but the solution seems to always be, buy more, get less, and be happy with what you lost. I'm not happy with these announced changes. But that's my pair of coppers for what they're worth.
Ooof... I would love to. But... I was looking over the logistics and... With the Marathon, this is going to be a nightmare. The marathon route goes past the convention center north and south within a few blocks. Both Chestnut and Arch streets are involved for several blocks in both directions. There is a subway system, so check your logistics and route planning carefully. If anyone is planning on going, get to booking now! Good luck, and best wishes to all who go.
Could I just take a moment to mention how frustrating it is that if you want to play through the story arc with 1 character, it is very difficult scheduling the sessions to make sure you don't level out of an upcoming chapter. Can Paizo please keep the Metaplot and other story-arc scenarios in level order? Or at least close? Thank you!
Is there any chance of seeing a Pawns collection for this book? I'd really love to get the new monsters from this book into pawn bases for my players.

Are there any plans to update this product? There have been several changes made to the game since the original publishing between FAQ, Errata, Remaster, Etc. But in my downloads, the PDF was last updated June 2019. Now it's offered in the Asian Fantasy Bundle on Humble Bundle right between Pathfinder Second Edition Beginner Box: REMASTERED Edition, Pathfinder REMASTER Iconics Pregenerated Characters, and right along with the REMASTERED Core GM Screen. Come on, Paizo, you can do this. Your customers have only been asking for it for almost 6 years now.
Just a thought. Something I'd like to see in PFS scenarios is a Battle Card for each custom creature in that scenario. Not for elite or weak adjustments, but ones that are specially made for that scenario. Perhaps the Front and Back images could be placed horizontal, one above the other so that when printed you just trim them out and fold along the adjoining side. Any chance we could see this happen? I'd even pay a few $ extra for a separate pdf of this. I try to make similar things on my own and they don't come out well. I'm willing to pay professionals with the right tools to do this for me.
Any chance we might see an items deck, so we have cards for all of these wonderful items? Thanks! The same with Grand Bazaar. Please? Please? This way I don't have to create my own card every time my players find one of the things in these books? Thanks!! >EDIT< I don't care how big it would be. What in the world is that plant creature on page three, in between the regency noblewoman and the Yakuza looking guy? I'm pretty sure that's a Ghoran from Lost Omens Impossible Lands. Either that or a Cultivation Spren from the Cognitive Realm. Oh, wait, wrong universe. Not sorry.
I'm really hoping that this book gives a new feat; Combat Reflexes - You gain 1 additional reaction each turn. Or something like that. I have several characters that would benefit greatly from that. In 1E you got additional Attacks of Opportunity equal to your Dex mod. I'm just hoping for 1. Or 1 for each time you take the feat. Or there could be multiple levels of it at higher levels, and you can only take each level once. I realize that these mechanics are supposed to represent things a person can do in a short amount of time. But I do medieval fighting re-enactments and I've seen some very quick individuals be able to take advantage of a lot of split-second opportunities. I myself have deflected or intercepted multiple attacks aimed at my shield-mates, or others behind me. Anyway, that's my 3 coppers.
Until such time as the higher level characters are available, can we... A. Use the CRB/APG versions? B. Generate the higher level versions of Remaster Iconics using approved tools like Hero Lab Online? C. Can we still just use the older versions and use the conversion guides for at-the-table updating? Also, at what point can we no longer use the older pregens? I'm presuming if they are for a class in Core Rulebook or Advanced Players that had NOT been Remastered, we would use the older characters with modifications based on the conversion guide. Thanks!
Well, that's worth a look. A very lovely looking piece of craftsmanship. I always enjoy seeing things that bridge that gap between fully immersive role-playing and sitting around a table. Also, I really hope this is not the same as the item that is handed out as the Wayfinder award to a VERY select few individuals. From what I can remember of the one time I got to see one, I'm fairly sure this is not the same model. I'm just voicing my concern is all, and I expect to have that concern quickly resolved. Now, over to the Kickstarter page, completely sidetracking what I came to the website to do. LOL!!
I cant wait to see how they get the metal and wood to fold. Will there be hinges? Or maybe magnets if it's carbon steel and Iron wood. :-) LOL! These will go well with my other planar maps. Waitaminute! Are these City Maps? The left half of the cover image certainly looks like a city rather than a typical tactical map. Hmmmm.... I'll just have to wait until I get this in my December subscription shipment.
Some designers from Paizo have even encouraged people NOT to pick up these books if said people were on the fence about it. Paizo is putting in a way for Rulebook subscribers to skip out on the Remaster book releases, and as always, they encourage folks to check out any changes on Archives of Nethys. They know this isn't a financially safe move. But it was never about making tons of money to begin with. They said it wasn't going to be mandatory on release until they announced that it's mandatory on release. From the Paizo Blog post, Pathfinder Society and the Remaster, "Game Rules 1. Players and GMs must use the remastered rules of the game immediately where possible." Alex later clarified that "Immediately" means the release date, not immediately. Also "Beginning on November 15, 2023, no new characters may be created using the class chassis printed in the Core Rulebook if the class has been reprinted in the Player Core." I do not like the way that PF2.5 has been handled so far. Yes, there are lots of exceptions, allowances, etc. But, I'm pretty sure it was Jason Buhlman that admitted in one of the early videos about the remaster that many of these changes were supposed to be in 2E at release, but they wanted the legacy players to buy in and they didn't think enough would come over if they cut out things like alignment and spell schools. Then we were told that the rules in the remaster won't be mandatory on day 1. See my statement above. Despite how I feel about the surroundings of the release, I'm going to give it a fair appraisal once my books come in.
I need to find more of these recipes and get them to my wife. She's got an amazing database of historical drinks, and I'm sure she'd love to add Golarion's beverages to it. And, of course, her Krupnick recipe. Are there plans for a Golarion Recipe book? I too am looking forward to running this scenario, the premise is very interesting. Many of my players have also expressed excitement for it as well.
How will character sheet interaction work? Will this be like Foundry? Or will we be able to use our Hero Lab characters with our Hero Forge minis and roll Norse Foundry virtual dice? I'd be all in if that's the case. Otherwise, I'm not sure. I'm willing to give it a test drive though. My main concern is the there are so many other virtual sources and table tops out there already. How will this one beat, or incorporate, what we're already invested in?
In my personal opinion, as a 5 Glyph GM, this should have the Glyph tag. There are many moving parts and a lot for a GM to keep track of. This scenario was much more difficult to GM than others that have the Glyph tag. While it was a well-written scenario, and a lot of fun to run, it is challenging. GMs, make sure you have ample time to prep this one. Just my pair of coppers.
Overall, the scenario seems like it's going to be fun to GM, and I'm sure my players will enjoy playing it. And it uses maps that we don't see much anymore. I'm looking forward to Friday! Was there supposed to be artwork for a specific NPC? Spoiler: That seems like an odd choice.
Tekawenda is on the council AND featured heavily in the second info check. She seems pretty important. So I'm curious as to why we got new artwork for Rahaksenwe, a recurring NPC, new art for a sidekick NPC, but no art for one of the council members that you're supposed to influence. BTW, How do I get my scenarios at midnight? I had to wait until I got the email this afternoon.
PF2.5!It sounds a lot more like 2.1 2.1 was the first errata to CRB. 2.2 the second, etc. So, yeah this IS 2.5. I'm just starting to watch the replay of the stream, and I'll hold additional comments until after that, except this one: I've played/run RPGs without alignment. I don't like them. As teenage boys playing fantasy games where there is no guideline as to how your character's morality would actually influence their actions makes it easy for a "Good" character to slaughter baby deer, just because. You, as the GM, cannot tell them it's against their character's morality, because the player will find ways to justify otherwise abhorrent actions. If Alignment becomes an "Optional" aspect, it will always be used at my table. That's my pair of coppers, do with them as you wish.
I think the actual minis look pretty decent. I bought the set a while back and they've had almost all positive feedback from players. It also helps to hand a new player a mini of the pregen character they are playing, as it helps with the immersion. I love them, honestly, and am planning on picking up a second box at Gencon.
I don't play much for SF anymore, but I WILL get this book. Even if for no other reason than Mike and Ivis. Such awesome folks and great writers. The others are great writers and contributors too, but Mike and Ivis are locals and friends. I'm so glad for them and love their work.
I carry all of my rulebooks in a red/black toolbox. It looks great when I open it and there's 9 beautiful red leather books all together. Guess I'm also going PDF only on this one. It's a shame, really, because I much prefer flipping pages to rolling screens. I'm also waiting for an answer as to why this change was chosen. Thanks Aaron for communicating this with us.
My only critique of this would be looking at the TPK board and seeing not a single woman or person of colour. This is a major trend in this hobby, and possible on of the hobby’s biggest issues/losses. Oddly, when I looked at that page, I found this under one of the photos of someone whom I am not assuming their chosen gender. "JAMES BECK Co-Owner of Eldritch Osiris Games, Deadly D8 host, & Professional Idiocy co-host he/they/she"Is it more important to have great creators based on their skin pigmentation and gender, or the content of their creations? Personally, I don't care what someone looks like or where they are on the gender spectrum. If I'm here for great gaming content, THAT is all that matters to me. Go ahead, flag my post. When I make tokens for my VTT sessions, I usually have multiple colors of rings for multiples of monsters. Example, four skeletons would have a red, blue, yellow, and green ring to make designation easier. Any chance there might be some way I can do that with these? Or have some sort of coloring designation that I'm not aware of as I have barely begun to use Foundry? Thanks!
I too would LOVE to see this done with a Second Edition AP, like Outlaws of Alkenstar or Age of Ashes. But, if we're resurrecting 1E APs, my vote is for Wrath of the Righteous. I've been waiting for Mythic to get to 2E, and that would be a great way to introduce it. Just my pair of coppers now, but if you do it, I'll gladly lay down a lot of gold for it. I'd even be willing to join a Playtest if you want a 5G GM. Just sayin.
Is Calamity the name of the dagger in the Multi-Table Special that had 4 variations? BTW, I would love to know if scenarios have certain callbacks. Maybe a mention of it in the VO Discord channel? Because I would love to post old scenarios that lead into new ones. Even if I have to adapt them to PF2 and run them un-sanctioned. Just sayin.
Congrats to all the other award and 5-rank achievers! Especially Kristin Bollerman, my all-time favorite VC, GM, player, my wife, and best friend :-). It was a fun and grueling journey for me, and I'm sure it was for all of you as well. Congratulations, and well done. I also want to send a pre-emptive congrats to Ivis Flannagan who has been at the forefront of 2E since Playtest and has been an inspiration to me. Thank you Alex, Heather, and all of the staff and volunteers who made our Gencon experience so awesome! It's great to be back in person. I'm anxious for PFS2 Season of Boundless Wonder! Can't wait! Are we going to get letters from Zarta?
As I'm prepping this scenario I've got to say I'm very excited to run it. The plot is well thought out, there's plenty of action, opportunities for role-play, and great skill checks. A very well-rounded adventure indeed! And who doesn't look forward to using the Red-Light District Flip-Mat? The one thing that bugs me is the new art for Lady Glorianna Morilla. I understand that the characters from 1st edition are being redrawn, reimagined, etc. But this one, I'm not liking. Just my pair of coppers, but I plan on using the old art I have in my presentations. However, the rest of the scenario is FANTASTIC! From the first encounter's structure to the last encounter's monsters. I plan to do a full review after I run it this weekend and see how my players tear into it. I'm looking forward to running more of Brent's scenarios. |
