A really good damage soak is probably a protector tumor familiar. You get it from either alchemist or aberrant bloodrager (or sorcerer I guess). I'm pretty sure that works with redirecting damage. About actual healing I'm not sure. I've heard fast bombs + healing bombs can output a tremendous amount of healing, though that's AoE, not just yourself. I believe there is a similar trick to protector familiar with psicrystal, though that doesn't have fast healing 5, just hardness I believe (of course all 3 of you would then benefit from the healing bombs). I think there is a psionic class that is awesome at healing, Vitalist I believe.

Most of those don't help, unfortunately. The damage would be as a result of this Zealot ability:

At 2nd level, the zealot learns to share the immense pain and suffering his allies must face to fulfill their calling. Once per round, when a willing member of the zealot’s collective takes hit point damage from an opponent, the zealot can redirect up to 5 points of damage per zealot level to himself as a free action, even if it is not his turn. Effects other than hit point damage (such as poison, stunning, or ability damage) are not reduced or transferred. Damage the zealot redirects to himself with this ability bypasses any form of damage reduction, resistance, immunity or regeneration the zealot may possess. When the zealot activates this ability, he can pay up to 1 power point per zealot level to negate 3 points of the damage redirected to him per power point spent (to a minimum of 1 point of damage taken).

So I'm already redirecting the damage to myself, I don't believe I can then redirect it elsewhere.

I suppose a good option could simply be choosing another Psionic class and stacking on massive amounts of Power Points, but I was looking into other options since that seems a bit of a waste.

Warpriest healing is pretty piddling. At this level 3d6 healing is next to nothing.

A Paladin (or with some GM leeway, an Anti-Paladin) can be throwing down something like 6d6+12 as a Swift. Still not AMAZING, but pretty darn good.

Something that gains Fast Healing at this level would probably be ideal. I'm planning to go the Die Hard Feat line.

I'm pretty sure Tumor familiar actually works, but the GM is the final arbiter of any such issues:

Quote:
The subject takes only half damage from all wounds and attacks (including those dealt by special abilities) that deal hit point damage. The amount of damage not taken by the warded creature is taken by you.

Another alchemist option (in addition to healing bombs and tumor familiar) is the spontaneous healing discovery. That's basically fast healing 5, although only for level x rounds per day (with healing touch).

There is a bloodrager or barbarian (can't remember which) that gives fast healing instead of DR.

There are a number of maneuvers that offer healing. For example the Riven Hourglass maneuver Time Thief's Talon gives level*2 (as well as the same in damage to the opponents). Sadly that's a standard action, as are most of the maneuvers that does such, though they come with extra stuff (usually an attack), not just healing.

I do have Riven Hourglass available, and plan to make liberal use of it.

I plan to be a Whip user, so probably Dex based, and Zealot's Initiator modifier is Cha if that helps in narrowing down stuff.

My initial thought was Oracle, but I already played an Oracle in WotW (and later an Inquisitor), so wanted something new.

Hey Sundakan, have you thought about Fey Foundling as one of your feats? Heals you an extra +2 per die rolled. I use it with my Oradin build and it really makes a difference.

oyzar wrote:

Vitalist really rocks at 12th level and above. At 11th level they cans spend 11 pp to heal 110 damage, split among their collective. At 12th level they can spend 12 points to heal 220, at 13th they can spend 13 to heal 330, etc. Basically once they do the base power, then each additional point heals another member of the collective. At 20th level, if they have eight people in their collective (nine with the vitalist), they can heal 990 points for 20 pp.

Below that, they're okay. One of the cool things is that they have an at-will ranged touch power that does supernatural untyped damage and heals the collective the same amount. It's not huge damage (vitalist level+wisdom mod), but it goes through just about any resistances. It's supernatural, so it bypasses SR and DR and it doesn't have an energy type to go against energy resistance.

Yeah, that was the plan. The issue is finding a class that can use it as effectively as the Paladin.

Considering Battle Oracle again. Quickened Cure Critical with Foundling isn't too bad, even if it does eat two slots.

Just checking in.

Did we ever have a date this would close?

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Yeah I'd really like to see this one get off the ground. Endless recruitments can be tiring, and end up with WAAAAY too many people being disappointed at not being picked in the end.

I'm feeling an Antipaladin/Gunslinger calling my name here....
I've run WotW up through the fourth book before my group had to disband; had a blast DMing it.

The GM is going through some very serious RL stuff atm(feel free to message me for details, as I don't want to share them publicly). She was hoping to get posts up Sun night, but that clearly didn't happen.

Please bear with her, and I'm sure she'll post as soon as she is able.

Thanks for letting us know.

Yeah, thanks for the update. Hope everything turns out alright.

Well... That's somewhat helpful- I only just found this, but now I'm very very happy, because it's nearly the damn perfect place for my necromancer grandmother;

An old, kindly old lady. Only she's a very vile, very evil necromancer, but still maintains a rather kind behavioral face; Current idea is either a Wizard//Oracle, maybe a Wizard//CLeric, or Cleric//Oracle of Lamashu. Point being, Necromancer Lady. Might ask to spend my boon to be able to add Word of Power words to my spell list, but I'm not too sure.

Dark Archive

I think there is already a necromancer in the reserved spots so I guess another one will not have many chances of being chosen...

Sir Longears wrote:

Yeah, see that now- Makes me sad, but I can still have the "Kindly old ludicousy evil lady" angle without it; Just change it to a summoner, and it'll work.

I will be back after Deborah's funeral. I just haven't been able to do so since she passed. She was like a second mother to me here in the states and she is sorely missed. If you guys don't mind, please pray for Matt and his family. They are heartbroken over this turn of events.

On a related note for this campaign: Divinitus has dropped his slot because he has to get things arranged for the funeral, wake, and stuff and thinks it would be unfair to fill up a slot he may never use.

Send them my regards. And best wishes

Nothing but kind thoughts for you and yours, and absolutely don't worry too much about getting back to us in a timely fashion; do what you need to do. We'll keep.

^ what he said.

We'll be here when you're ready to come back.

In agreement- Take however much time you need, and I hold nothing but condolences for you and your friends.

My condolences to you and yours. I can only hope that our thoughts can provide a small measure of comfort in this though time.

I hope I'm not getting too pushy into your personal business, here, RVT, but since it's been about two weeks - should we keep paying attention to this one, or has real life intruded too much to keep things going? No judgment either way, I'd just like to know if I should continue checking in every so often.

I HAVE RETURNED AND I BRING COOKIES! Well, figurative cookies that exist only in your head, but cookies nonetheless! ^_^

I will update everyone on how things went. Deborah's funeral took a bit longer to put together than most because of Desiree's plans for everything. The purple casket, a color she chose because of pancreatic cancer, had to be custom ordered, a lot of distant relatives had to be called and allowed time to show up, and it took a while to get other special arrangements set up for the funeral.

After the funeral, I stayed with TSP/Divinitus. My boss asked me to fulfill the secondary duties of my position as his now-primary secretary and represent him in Tokyo, so I took TSP/Divinitus with me to help him take his mind off of the recent tragedy. It worked extremely well and in between business meetings, which went surprisingly well despite how sexist most claim Japan is, we saw the hanging gardens, went to a cool little niche restaurant where monkeys dressed as waiters serve the food and booze, got to visit the neon district, and lots of other cool stuff!

So, after that period of tragedy and emotional cleansing, I feel ready to come back and return to my campaigns.

So, that all said... ARE YOU BADDIES READY TO RAISE SOME BLOODY HELL?!!! >:D

Edit: TSP/Divinitus' slot has been forfeited by his own personal choice so another player could be selected.

Welcome back! Sorry again for your loss. I hope some cool game with a bunch of baddies can help your mood too :)

Oh my mood is much better! Doubly so because I found this little lovely.

Oh and to give you all a sneak peak at a sample on how I will be building some of the simpler enemies for your villain's 'enjoyment'! ^_^

Nameless Guard #12
Male Human Fighter (Two-Handed Fighter)11
Lawful Good
Initiative: +2, Perception +15
AC:22, touch 11, flat-footed 21
HP:165
DR: 3/-
FORT +12, REF +5, WILL +5
SPD: 20 ft.
ATK: +2 Culling, Holy Adamantine Greatsword +25/+20/+15 (2d6+19 +2d6 holy +2d6 when cleaving/17-20/x2) [ +25/+17/+12 (2d6+28 +2d6 holy +2d6 when cleaving/17-20/x2) when power attacking]
Special: Backswing, Overhand Chop, Piledriver, Shattering Strike +3, Weapon Training: Blades, Heavy, Weapon Training: Pole Arms
Str 28, Dex 14, Con 20, Int 12, Wis 14, Cha 10
Base Atk +11, CMB +22 (+25 Sundering), CMD 30 (35 vs. Disarm, 38 vs. Sunder)
Feats: Cleave, Cleaving Finish, Critical Focus, Disruptive, Great Cleave, Greater Cleaving Finish, Greater Weapon Focus: Greatsword, Improved Critical: Greatsword, Power Attack -3/+6, Furious Focus, Step Up, Vital Strike, Weapon Focus: Greatsword, Weapon Specialization: Greatsword
Skills: Acrobatics +17, Perception +15, Sense Motive +15
Languages Common, Celestial
Gear: +2 Righteous Adamantine Full Plate, +2 Culling, Holy Adamantine Greatsword, Belt of Giant Strength +6

So yeah, some of the most basic NPCs are not as powerful as your PCs, but they are still quite deadly. And considering that holy weapon and armor penalties are doubled in Talingarde, most of this particular guard's equipment will be near-useless to the PCs.

Edit: This was a rough draft which saw a few numerical changes. I believe the AC and ATK are a point too low or high in this sample, but you get the basic gist of it, yeah?

Edit: And perhaps this guy was built around a nice schtick with cleaving but by Talingarde, HE WILL SPILL SOME WICKED BLOOD!

Edit: The good guys get nice things like bonus feats too!

Dark Archive

OH HELLZ YES I'M READY TO RAISE SOME BLOODY HELL!

Good to have ya back. =) Ya, Japan gets a bad rap sometime. Did you take any pictures?

I have some pictures! They are amateurish because I'm not much of a photographer, but they are there on my SD card! I am actually considering doing a blog on Japan because I love the place so much! ^_^

So after seeing one of the more basic people employed at Branderscar, how pumped are you for the campaign? :P

Welcome back!

That guard! He don't mess around!

I'd love to join in on this--getting something put together today.

Dark Archive

Still here, crossing my fingers to get Gannak sneaked into the selected!

Dark Archive

Oh yeah!

After seeing that we're level ten, and even a random guard will be level eleven I feel...um, cold and frightened? :p

When's cutoff?

Welcome back! Glad to hear that things are going better for you.

I haven't finished my character yet and haven't really worked on it in your absence. While it's pretty much done mechanically, I still have a bit of a way to go on the fluff. I hope I'll be able to finish it in time. I would be very excited to play in your game. I'm still wondering about the following questions:

oyzar wrote:
GM Lightbearer wrote:

Oyzar: I don't see a question...? Something with WHW that was changed in my home group is that the WHW's hair is obviously magical and therefore needs no feat to be used for purposes of many class-class interactions, like feral combat training. It is more of a magical ability than a true natural weapon, even though it technically is one. Maybe after I get some sleep I can explain it better, yeah?

Question

1) Can I use unchained flurry of blows together with spell combat? Mostly I'm looking for a way to get full attack with the hair, though the extra attack wouldn't hurt of course. Some people are saying they don't work together since spell combat is like two weapon fighting already.
2) Your suggested change seems to be: I can use the hair with spell combat without natural spell combat. I can also use the hair with flurry of blows without weapon focus +feral combat training. Is that correct? That would be awesome and help a ton. Thanks :D.

Too bad I need Broad Study to use enervation with spell combat, but I'll just have to live without. I'm sure I'll be able to use enervation from time to time regardless.

oyzar wrote:

@RDV(following the order of questions from above):

3)Are we going to be using fractional saves?
4)Background skills?

I guess I can add 5) Do I really need Broad study (and hence 6 magus levels) in order to cast enervation with spell combat?

Your guards look like meat that has yet to be butchered. They will fall before the Wrath of Asmodeus.

Thank you all for the warm welcome back! ^_^

The cutoff date is 5 days, since most already have characters ready. These days are just for those with questions and those who are new to the thread. This is for your CONCEPT. If for whatever reason, I want your character in but it is not finished, I will let you finish it after I make selections.

GM Snowe: No he doesn't! He will bring the wrecking to any evil prisoner's party.

Sir Longears: I feel hurt... you didn't even bribe me with evil cookies! T_T

Payn, the Bloodthief: I like your response!

Oyzar: You can flurry with the hair anyway. It is in my opinion the same as any of your PCs other appendages and can be used for things like flurry of blows as it is. No need to penalize a cool, not-broken ability with technicalities. No fractional saves. Yes to broad study but you don't need magus levels, so long as you have the other requisites of the feat.

Philo Pharynx: That's the spirit! Now, let us see if you will put that into action! :P

Sw33t!!

You really just want a concept? Done and done! I've tried to pull this off for a while, but basically the thing doesn't get fun until....oh, look, level 10! =)

Concept!:

Ecclesitheurge Cleric 3/Sorcerer(Celestial-Empyreal)4/Mystic Theurge 3

(Hence, Cleric 6/Sorc 7 =-)

*Whew* The concept is that she casts Spectral Hand, and then goes around inappropriately touching people with Ghoul touch & Inflict spells, with some Animated Undead as meat shields. Pretty simple, all told. =)

The Empyreal part is so that I can have Wis as a main stat, instead of doing two stats.

Also, there may be a few more spells from BOVD that we can play around with. *3vil gr1n*

2) We've already had some great METAL, now if you're looking for some dark, deep, music to just have on in the background (like, say, doing some evil-but-neither-dark-nor-awesome paperwork, this might be a thing to have on in the background.

Also, I baked a pan of evil virtual invisible undead cookies. I'll email you a box. >.<

Still here, awaiting my time to turn all of Talingarde into my undead slaves!!

Bwhahaha!!!

I have three concepts, two of which use 3rd party and the other doesn't.

1. Dragon Paragon/Mystic Godling from In the Company of Dragons from Rite Publishing, and the guide to the Mystic Godling from Rogue/Super Genius Games. Both available on the PFSRD20 website for easy reference.
Yes I'm a red dragon/divinely empowered sorcerer, part of a long line spawned from Dahak himself! 10/10 essentially

Behold Smaug, the great and powerful red fury from the north of Talingarde! Last of the great line of the World Ravager, an aspect of Dahak Dragon Father that purges the world in flames and allows new infernal life to grow. Smaug seeks vengeance and rulership over this island that his line was banished to by the last Azlanti, Aroden, to prevent the prophecy of the World Ravager from taking place and causing Golarion to vanish into flames. Aroden made an agreement with the Shining One long ago to bind and eventually eliminate the World Ravager's brood via his mortal servants. Biding his time as he continued to tap into his draconic heritage, Smaug was eventually laid low after he burned a group of knights escorting the maiden daughter of the Lord of the Knights of Alerion, seeking to eat her whole in truly classic draconic fashion, and gain closer elevation to eventual godhood. He was brought low by famed dragon slayer Sir Esergard Dragonbane, and sent to prison for arson and attempted murder. Now he sits in his cell, bound by divine chains and stone walls. They will not hold back Smaug's fury. The lesser rats can be manipulated to set him free, and then Smaug will feast!

2. Defender of the Black-Tielfling 10th level warder (from Path of War)/5th level fighter/5th level Hellknight. Defender, or the Black Knight as he known amongst the thralls of Talingarde, was the bastard son of a paladin defender at the Watch Wall. The paladin fell after being seduced by one of the handmaidens of Asmodeus, and set in motion another plan (Cardinal Thorne's disruption being just one of many attempts to destroy the goody two shoes). The unholy scion would rise through the ranks of the Knights, and gain the rank of Knight Commander. There he would be able to set knight against knight, and start a rebellion amongst the noble born to set the Barcas back on the throne, and then lead them into devil worship via the promise of infernal aid to solidify their reign. However, before he was able to do so, his fallen father materialized and challenged him to a duel of honorable combat before the current order of the Knights. Having to use infernally inspired swordplay (ala the evil maneuevers), his style exposed Defender and he was sentenced to death for treason and attempted murder.

3.Druid/Hunter -Still working on the details for this one.

Full character sheet with detailed abilities in the alias profile.
Concept is a Fey Sorceress/Mesmerist who specializes in Enchantment and Charm. She's selfish, egotistical, and believes in social hierarchy.

Also, I'll just leave this here. I'd love some feed back

Story:

Bizarre Bazaar...I watched them burn it. Those smug, righteous, Shining Lord-loving bastards burnt it to the ground. I watched the flames engulf my life's work, feebly trying to writhe out of the grasp of the two guards holding me, but to no avail. My magic failed me. No matter what I did, I could not draw its power from me; I must have pissed off some important people for them to send someone powerful enough to lock me out. As much as the thought of seeing my establishment smolder to nothingness might have pained me, the knowledge of where I was going was far worse....Branderscar.

Things weren't always so bleak for me. Two weeks ago I was one of the most well respected merchants in Daveryn, and also its most sought after bachelorette: I recall suitors, male and female alike coming from as far as Farholde to try and court me. I wonder...if they would have been so eager had they known I have a tail. But I digress, I suppose I should reflect on happier times, knowing what my fate is now.

I was born in Daveryn, in the fine district of Goldenhall. My parents were definitely not a traditional couple. My father was a Kitsune like me, but he taught me to hide that. I suppose the 'great-natured' good folk of Talingarde aren't as racially friendly as they seem. Come to think of it, I've never even seen a half-orc. My mother was...something else. Some say she was a nymph in disguise; all I know is that she left after I was born, so to hell with her. With my father being who he was, I could have never worked a day in my life and been just as well off: he had connections with a Valerian trader that helped him acquire some incredibly exotic spices and crafted toys. The import tariff was absurd, but the products were so highly demanded that my father could have sold them for peoples souls. I kind of fancy that though...owning someones soul. My father did charge outlandish prices for everything, but I always thought they were fair, considering the rarity of his goods. What shocked me most was that some of his clients came from that filthy district, Cliffward. People who couldn't afford a months grain trying to buy expensive recreational nonsense!? Growing up and witnessing this, witnessing my fathers business and the nature of his clientele...I quickly figured out that some of us are just better than the rest. These people remained poor and destitute because they were just inferior. I doubt those notions would have sat well with my father, but I've never told him that. I'm sure he knows now. I tried not to involve myself too much in his work, but his clients came from all over Talingarde, many of them speaking exotic languages. I spent a great deal of my childhood fascinated with those charming words and accents, learning as much as I could of them....

It almost seems like half my life has been secrets. I was barely ten when my abilities started to manifest. I suppose that backed the rumor that my mother was a nymph. The magic was definitely in my blood. It wasn't cause for much concern, a sorceress isn't a rare find nor ostracized in Daveryn society, but there was something different. There was a way in which I drew my power that set me aside from others like me, and by the gods I still can't explain how it works. I tried once to tell a friend when my father put me off for training, but he looked at me as if I was speaking goblin. From that point on, I just kept it to myself.

I'd like to say I was more than a typical teenager, but I wasn't. I was rebellious, loud mouthed and insolent. I can't help but to think were I to have a child as intolerable as I was, I may have beaten her to death. At thirteen, I found myself helplessly infatuated with an older a boy: a con, a thief...his name was Draven McKregan. I never intended on falling in love with anyone, and I suppose in hindsight I can't say that's exactly what it was, but he was handsome, intelligent, and downright sneaky. The kind of boy every girl wants to be with just to piss her father off. My father was so irate with Draven, constantly bickering at me...so I ran away; spent the better part of a year living with Draven and picking up some of his uhm...talents. Too bad for him, he stole something valuable from a Cardinal and ended up getting burnt at the stake. My hatred for Markadian politics grew quite a bit from that.

I returned home and made amends with my father. Deciding I needed more 'structure' in my life, he sent me off to the capitol for schooling. At least there, I got a good hold on my powers. I spent four years learning and training there, stuck with my inept classmates they dared ask me to call peers. I was their superior, by all accounts: I even had to teach a few of my upper classmen. Suffice to say, I was more than happy leaving that place.

Coming home to Daveryn, my father had amassed a fortune and was begging me to join the family business. It wasn't for me, those plebs that came to him for wares were too far beneath me to bother with. Funny how a thought can change your life, because as I pondered on how I didn't want to deal with those peasants, that life-changing thought slammed into me with the force of a flagship. Instead of selling to these plebs I should just be selling them.... Just like that, I found myself digging up Dravens old friends and finding every shady connection I could. I borrowed enough money from my father to open up a rare magic shop, Bizarre Bazaar, open only to the upper class. I sold swords and sticks for the wannabe adventurers that came though, but it was all a front. Underneath the shop, I had the largest slave pen this side of the Cambrian Bay. Hundreds of men, day in and day out, bought and sold under my roof and sharing with me the gains. I had paid my father back in less than two weeks. I found even more creative ways to profit. Instead of buying slaves and selling them for more, I started employing some...specialists...to kidnap people from the lower districts and sell them instead! I'd like to say I wonder what happened to them; being in a port city they were probably shipped off to Valeria, but really, I don't care. I had more coin than I could have spent in twenty lifetimes. For years, I sat on top of the Daveryn economy. I was invited to private shows and events, given free meals almost anywhere I went, and there wasn't an adventurer that came through town without knowing my name or my store. And just like that...it was over.

I wish I knew what happened. I wish I knew who ratted me out because no one observed me doing anything wrong. I kept it all under the cover of my magic. I suppose it doesn't matter who did. A dozen guards barged into my shop, there was even a Knight of Alerion. The dragged out all my products and burnt the rest down as my father watched and turned his back. His love for that insipid Sun God is greater than that for his daughter.

They burnt down my life....

If I ever get out of here, I'll burn down their city!

As far as I know, there's no official Paizo rules for gestalt and that we use DnDs rules from Unearthed Arcana. Those rules would indicate that dual role classes like Mystic Theurge, Eldritch Knight, and Arcane Trickster be prohibited. You might want to confirm that with Lightbringer.

This guy is still here. Cleric/inquisitor.

I'm deeply sorry! The problem is that I'm from Brazil and we do not have this cookie bribing tradition! I could offer you an evil cachaça instead!

Cookies!? You dare ask for cookies!? The only thing I will bring is fire and brimstone to the naive and overly righteous people of Talingarde. They'll all burn!!!

I'll see if I can finish my guy up in that time. IIRC I was nearly done with the mechanics, just needed some more detail on the character.

Glad you are back and had a nice time in Japan.

Hi Lightbearer, GM Archlich here! Please consider my submission: Squeeze Bits, the "small angry one". :)

Turns out it was the opposite.

I have until Wednesday, right? I settled on Half-Orc Zealot/Warpriest of Zon Kuthon (or appropriate torture themed Archfiend, your choice on which is more fitting) for mechanics.

Remember Honest Tom, he is still here.

GM I can PM you a character sheet link again if you like.
