Inhaling, Quillen gestures haphazardly with his Gauloise towards the restored tapestry.

"Eh, zee? Ze phoenixes 'ave a zort of rebirth zing about zem."

Marching over, he puts his arm around Aroden.

"Zo my friend, are you next?"

Quillen stands over the ruby phoenix for a moment to be certain it won't rise back up again - hadn't he heard something about phoenixes rising from ashes? If there's one thing the halfling knew about, it was ash...

Not wanting to get in the reincarnated deities way, he stood back as Aroden worked to restore the tapestry.

Quillen could offer a UMD aid, but looks like we got it?

Woot, my encounter powers reset! Wait, that's not the right rules system...

Reflex DC15: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31

Quillen effortlessly evades the latest fireball, but appears somewhat miffed that somehow the group managed to arrange itself such that they would be all mostly subjected to another such attack.

The pint-sized warrior glides ahead, darting as best he can through the flaming bird's defenses.

Acrobatics to avoid AoO as he closes that last 5ft: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26

"En garde!"

And at last, he tries to stick the pointy end of his rapier into the creature's eye, working particularly hard to inflict a mortal wound.

Let's spend a panache point for some extra damage at last.

Rapier #1 (power attack, defensive, charge): 1d20 + 12 - 4 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 12 - 4 - 2 + 2 = 28 for 1d4 + 14 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 14 + 10 = 25

Wow those are some happy dice tonight. No parry/riposte planned given the odds of rolling over his own AC, which is 29 with the -2 from charging.

Ack, I hate to post a Delay but that's what I think this situation merits, letting the ruby phoenix get a bit closer.

Quillen keeps his eyes trained on the approaching phoenix, ready to pounce on it with the others as it closes into range.

Quillen holds up a hand as he holds his breath and prepares for the next phoenix.

"Ah! No. Iz alright. No time. Iz just a flesh wound."

"Zpread out from ze fiery balls!"

Quillen first spreads out in case the Fiery Bird lobs a fiery attack from a great distance. Then, he quickly attempts to use his wand again to mend what little remains of the burns from their last foe.

He'll stay 15 feet up, moving to hover above the rock I placed his icon above.

UMD: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Instead his wand emits a high pitched squeal of noncompliance as the halfling gives it a look of disgust and nearly hurls it into oblivion. Instead, he tucks it back into his belt and looks to his companions.

He'll ready to attack if he's approached for melee, saving his 5ft step to close within the creature's reach in such an occurence.

"Nnh! Merde!"

Quillen grunts as the fiery creature pummels him and laments the fact he forgot to tumble in past its fiery wings to land his blow.

He continues to maintain his defensive pose as he strikes out, uncertain if he can parry such powerful strikes and trusting his defensive posturing will be in his favor.
"Let us surround it, N'Aranav!"

Rapier #1 (power attack): 1d20 + 14 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 14 - 2 - 4 = 12 for 1d4 + 12 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 12 + 5 = 18

AC31 again.

Quillen will use a swift action for his Pathfinder's Resilience boon which grants him 1d8 temp HP + 2x Char Level. HP=1d8 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20 - this means

No parry/riposte roll as sure a parry can do any better if the attack roll was 32+.

Quillen surges ahead with his newly gained ability of flight, rapier outstretched and pointy end aimed at the phoenix's heart. He does glide in somewhat defensively, unsure if he's drawn the avian's ire as a result of his Galtan taunts.

Flying charge. Not that Quillen gets any benefit from a charge beyond the usual. AC28 with the -2 from charging. If attacked, he will parry/riposte. Let me know how I should handle/roll those.

Ah, nice. That's good to know since often frightened is not desirable. In this case, we needed some healing though and the opportunity to patch the tapestry didn't hurt either.

As an aside, Quillen's saves were all off by +1 in his summary line which I just fixed.

And apparently he has a +2 bonus on Intimidate checks vs creatures that speak Ignan from his Forged in Flame chronicle, so if that comes up again he'll add that bonus.

Too many chronicles!

Is there any benefit to a UMD to repair the tapestry, or are we good on those checks? Assuming we don't need any more of those, Quillen will try to UMD his wand and then quaff his potion of flying.

R1: Draw wand (move), UMD it.
R2: UMD wand, stow wand.
R3: Draw potion, quaff potion.

UMD: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 = 17

Quillen curses twice as he fails to activate his wand. Finally he angrily shoves it into his belt before instead popping the cork for a potion and drinking it.

"Keep spread out!"

47hp, but now flying.

Reflex DC15: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15

Quillen takes his time dodging the massive incoming fireball, barely stepping out of the way at the last moment and relying upon Aroden's warding magic. (9 damage, to 47hp)

He waves his hand dismissively.

"Of course, you keep flying, like ze coward you are. Le sigh."

Quillen considers quaffing his potion of flight, but first opts for a dazzling display of his rapier wielding prowess, flipping it up into the air and catching it while he shouts angrily.

"YOU! BIRD! WILL DIE!"

Intimidate vs DC10+Wis mod+HD: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 13 + 2 = 31

Quillen gets +2 rounds of duration. If he exceeds the DC by 5 or more (creature HD + wis mod <= 16), the target is frightened due to his Thug archetype.

Quillen scares himself a bit in the process, but hopes that his display gives the group a chance to gather itself and deal with Kimiya's burns.

I'd probably pass on it given we had 2 rounds to prepare?

Quillen waves the point of his sword about to punctuate his words.

"Oui, which means we zhould try not to die to zis.. Fiery Bird."

The Galtan turns his gaze toward the bird and beckons it forward.

I guess on Round 2 he can ready for an approach. He will fight defensively this time. Of course the bird will probably hurl its feathers at us and it'll be potion time.

Quillen doesn't have much to do to prepare!

A move action to put out his cigarette and a move action to draw his rapier. :)

Quillen considers Kahwen's reaction just before the timely arrival of Aram Zey.

"Bad? No. Bad for you? Oui."

As Aram Zey departs, Quillen discards his cigarette, ensuring he steps on it in case the tiny fraction of additional fiery energy would somehow be more of a threat that the colossal phoenix.

"Zo.. ze fire bird."

He glances in Aroden's direction.

"Zis fire for us, it will be bad? We can guard ourselves against it?"

The halfling briefly considers why he bought a potion to enable him to fly, but not one to ward against immense amounts of fire.

She shrugs and draws his rapier, stepping forward to stand near N'Aranav and Kimiya.

"Do your worst, Fiery Bird."

Quillen exhales a cloud of smoke.

"Monsieur Kahwen was.. ehh, how you say? Pecking at ze Boh-dak, which zeemed to be a little.. unclean?"

Quillen offers the tengu a smoke.

"To clean ze palette?"

Quillen squints as he leans forward to examine Kahwen.

"Are you sure it iz not just ze Ah-vee-ahn Flu, Monsieur Kahwen?"

He rummages around for some coin he's sure would've gone to his addiction anyway. -63.3gp?

"Zese healers always wanting ze donations eh? You'd zink ze Zociety would have zome zort of medical plan for it'z members, no?"

Quillen paces while the cleric counts their coins, lighting up a cigarette and waiting for Janeera to come rushing in with more ill news about Ze Tapeztry.

Quillen gives Aroden the "thumbs up" sign as he charges ahead. With the assistance of the magical haste, his march is doubly effective as he moves into a flanking strike with Kahwen.

Averting Gaze (50/50, high is always good): 1d100 ⇒ 27

Fort vs Negative Level DC18: 1d20 + 5 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 8 = 20

Quillen shudders for a moment as he catches a glimpse of the eternal damnation of his soul but shrugs it off after a second of fleeting contemplation.

"You do not scare me, foul bodak. You are no final blade! Hnnh-ha!"

Quillen lashes out with his rapier, hoping that his strike will be precise enough that such details as cold iron will matter not. He was promised by that Society merchant that adamantine was the wisest choice in his purchase.

AC26 vs Bodak w/haste + it being a larger foe. (27 if he ended up with that natural armor amulet from the Temple)

Oh, you're totally good. That was intended more for comic purposes than any criticism! Feel free to tell Q to go engage as opposed to putting on disguises.

Quillen glances up at the floating Aroden from behind his smokey goggles.

"Aroden? Now is not ze time for retreat! Uze your godly powers! Smite zis undead!"

Quillen glares at Dale as if their enemy's special abilities are actually his fault (as he was the bearer of bad news?).

"Merde... a life draining bodak? But only if you look upon it, eh?"

"Un moment, ah need zomething zmokey..."

The halfling begins rummaging around in his pack before procuring not a cigarette, but a pair of smokey lensed goggles, whereupon he promptly dons them.

Move action to pull out smoke goggles out, and then another move to put them on? Or a single move does both? It's been a while...

There's 3 potions of cure moderate, so we should certainly drink all 3 of those to preserve character resources. Kah and N'Aranav?

Q is happy to boost his AC further with the amulet, but will confidently profess he doesn't feel the need to use it and prefer to press it in someone else's hands first.

Quillen crosses his arms as the cleric approaches.

"You are wounded, no? Why do you not heal yourzelf?"

Quillen procures a small wooden stick and suggests the man heal the both of them swiftly if there is an undead menace waiting to be dispatched.

He then nods curtly to the Pathfinder.

"Ah am ready to continue."

Satisfied the archer at his feet can do no further harm, Quillen marches ahead to the lone remaining archer - this one apparently a blonde.

"'allo. You have shot at your last 'alfling."

The pauses for a moment to reflect on the fact that this particular archer may not have ever actually shot at a halfling before he shrugs and then lashes out with lightning speed at the archer's gut.

Quillen's eyes flare up and he flushes at the red-headed elf's final words.

"alfling! Not 'alf-man!"

He stamps his foot and considers stabbing her another two times but quickly comes to his senses as he overhears the half-orc chanting.

Quillen didn't fight defensively yet so he was AC25 vs that arrow and takes 10 damage. 34hp.

As the arrow impales Quillen's shoulder, he grunts unhappily.

"Unh. You will pay for zat, mon cherie."

Stepping forward, the halfling closes the distance and with a flurry of strikes tries to repay the elf in kind. He forgoes his usual defensive tactics and instead works for the quick victory.

If not fighting defensively, it's 24. +1 vs targets larger than he is, so 25 or 30 then.

Reflex DC17: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20

Quillen flinches as the fire explodes behind him, appearing somewhat disappointed as the flames kissed him from behind that they seemed to ignore the elf next to him.

44hp.

Quillen begins marching, drawing his rapier as he closes ground on one of the elven archers.

He calls out to Kimiya, whom he usually formed a line with.

"Arch-ares! Zis time, we march to zem!"

He then realizes Kimiya is gone. "Kimiya?"

Double move towards red.

Clapping his hands at their swift march in appreciation, the pint-sized Galtan hesitates and arches an eyebrow in surprise, echoing Dale's comments.

"Whaaa? Wha- iz zis? Orcs and elves? Togezher? 'zis unbelievable!"

Quillen will disbelieve such trickery!

In his shock, Quillen allows the spry elves an advantage he rarely allows on such opponents.

A Dale Bomb or Quillen does have 2 alchemist's fire... Happy to use them to make it an easy clean-up.

Quillen wipes his rapier clean and allows Kahwen to perform the honorary duty of troll head removal with his elven blade.

He arches an eyebrow as Dale mentions Astral Troll Fever, thankful he was not bitten or scratched by any of the lumbering brutes.

Quillen flushes at the troll's taunt, but grins as he knows it's just a matter of time before he punctuates the green brute's flesh with his own taunting and poking.

"Liddle?! Liddle!? Tsk, tsk troll. Zese insults will not stand!"

Quillen will drop his defensive attacks and go in for the kill on the prone troll. AC goes down to 25 vs the trolls.

Quillen steps forward, his rapier singing a song as it weaves to and fro between the two trolls.

5ft step, will try to dispatch yellow before attacking prone green. If for some reason Q gets to attack green, add 1d6 sneak attack to his damage.

Works for me.

Quillen spits as the lumbering hulks espouse violence and glory. Especially glory, as true glory was something only obtainable by Galt.

"Meh. Ugly.. green.. giants."

Quillen marched ahead of the group seeking to repeat the same strategy he and Kimiya had employed to success several times so far this week.

Quillen crosses his arms and smiles, satisfied with the ritualized scarring of the group's vanaran.

"It makes you, ehh.. look more dignified, mon amie."

Quillen lights up a cigarette as the "scholars" ponder over the rune keys.

"What waz zat? False zkin? Hmmm..."

As he draws the smoky essence into his lungs, Quillen contemplates the mystery himself.

Quillen stands poised to strike the mummy, hesitating just long enough to realize that Aroden is going to command it to go elsewhere.

He glances to the others.

"Uh, iz zis alright? Ze mummy can go? Zere are no Galtans to ze zouthwest, eh?"

Will w/Charmed Life: 1d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 2 + 3 = 23

Quillen shrugs off the mummy's aura, stepping forward and plunging his rapier ahead (5ft step; at red - the wight, right?).

"En garde!"

He narrows his eyes at the remnants of the stone walls, ready for the attackers to come and meet their end.

We rested right? AC up to 31 fighting defensively with haste.

Quillen's face flushes with anger at the sight of the unseemly mummy soldiers.

"You call yourzelf zoldiers?!?!"

He swiftly paces a line to-and-fro between the tattered remnants of what he's sure used to be some sort of troop.

The halfling then stops, pivots on his heel and glares at the mummies, slapping his rapier into his palm.

"ATTENTION! Zis is no time to babble like babies! Non! You are mummies! Act like it!"

Sense Motive: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3

Quillen can't really suss out if the wyvarans are trying to trick him or not - it's difficult to read others through the radiance of your own splendor.

"Ehh, how about ze Zociety goodwill? I'm sure we 'ave zomething we can part with as a zign... "

Quillen keeps his thought to himself that follows.

Ze Zociety will zust take it from us later, anyway...

Going through the thread now... did we loot something valuable we could give to the wyvarans?

Sure helps when we know the angle, keeps it moving fast on PbP though!

I imagine we hit what we needed with Aroden's check, but I'll go ahead and play along with Kahwen for fun.

Quillen narrows his eyes at Kahwen but cannot help but to smile with satisfaction as he receives the adoration he has always sought.

"Rise, monsieur Kahwen, or pay your 'omage to ze wyvarans 'ere. Perhaps ze Society zomeday will give you treazures as befitting of your station as dragonblooded..."
