Dale the Sage |
Looks like the undead one is out, since these are living.
The speed boost may be useful, may as well put that to use now I expect.
*Thanks for the reminders on the boons.
GM Lorenzo |
Anybody interested in activating the +4 boost to Initiative for the encounter?
Dale the Sage |
If these aren't undead and we have no indication its the last encounter then I wouldn't expect to use it. If those aren't true and we somehow knew it then well, yes.
GM Lorenzo |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Benefit Earned During Mustering
SUPPLY CHECK (Average Success)
Benefits: Each PC receives a potion of cure serious wounds.
The repair team also provides each PC with an additional 1st- or 2nd- level potion of the PC’s choice that does not have an expensive material component. (Kahwen - Cat’s Grace; Kimiya & N’Aranav - Bull’s Strength; Aroden - Delay Poison; Dale & Quillen - Invisibility)
GM Lorenzo |
Quillen,
The last encounter got me thinking about Intimidate, demoralize, shaken, frightened and panicked.
Took a look at the Thug archetype:
Frightening (Ex)
Whenever a thug successfully uses Intimidate to demoralize a creature, the duration of the shaken condition is increased by 1 round. In addition, if the target is shaken for 4 or more rounds, the thug can instead decide to make the target frightened for 1 round.
So it's possible, if/when you want to do so, to apply the penalties of the shaken condition without scaring the foe away.
Just random thoughts.
Quillen |
Ah, nice. That's good to know since often frightened is not desirable. In this case, we needed some healing though and the opportunity to patch the tapestry didn't hurt either.
As an aside, Quillen's saves were all off by +1 in his summary line which I just fixed.
And apparently he has a +2 bonus on Intimidate checks vs creatures that speak Ignan from his Forged in Flame chronicle, so if that comes up again he'll add that bonus.
Too many chronicles!
Kimiya Sayo |
Functionally, how does Banish work? Are we just kicked out of the tapestry for the remainder of the campaign? Are we banished to some other place? Or will we find out when/if it happens? lol
GM Lorenzo |
Quillen,
If you intend to make use of opportune parry & riposte, please post it in the form of a spoiler. Here's an example of the format I use for Gitano Frallino, my Bard (archaeologist)/Investigator (sleuth)/Swashbuckler (inspired blade):
[ooc]If an opponent makes a melee attack against Gitano, he will attempt an [url=http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/advancedClassGuide/classes/swashbuckler.html]opportune parry and riposte[ /url]...[ /ooc]
[Spoiler=Opportune Parry and Riposte]
Spend 1 panache (luck) point and expend 1 AoO to:
[dice=Parry]d20+__[ /dice]
[dice=If the Parry is successful, then immediate action to Riposte]d20+__;d6+__[ /dice][ /spoiler]
I'll wait till you make the post, then I'll update the Gameplay thread.
GM Lorenzo |
Dale has mentioned that burst of healing boon you have.
It's still available, if someone wants to activate it.
GM Lorenzo |
You're about to begin the next encounter. Any boons/benefits you'd like to use?
GM Lorenzo |
Yes, this is a new encounter. I kept the round count going for the purposes of tracking effects.
The +10ft boost to land movement is now gone.
GM Lorenzo |
Okay, folks. Someone please activate this Aid Token! Note the Allied Offensive is boosted already!
Kahwen |
Ranged attackers are not considered flanking.
I think it would be best for Dale to trigger it.
I think the damage is the same type as the attack and, unless I miss my guess the cold is doing extra damage.
Thanks to N'aranav being on the other side, we're covered on the Sneak Attacking.
GM Lorenzo |
Please check Slide 2 and make sure all your admin info is correct.
My understanding is that the costs of the two restoration spells were shared equally by everyone in the party. If that is not correct, please let me know.
If there's anything else you'd like me to note on your Chronicle, please let me know.
I'll get the Chronicles done today and post a link for you.
I hope you enjoyed the game.
Aroden Reincarnated |
I sent the GM a note, but when you all get your Chronicles it will be clear the cost wasn't split evenly. I did not contribute.
I do try to be a generous teammate, and spent 750 in scrolls that I bought in the past to help the team avert misfortune (Haste and Communal Resist Energy) which is not a trivial amount at this level.
I am totally in favor of players having the opportunity to make voluntary contributions to help undo misfortune, but I do not think it should be an expectation (though not saying such is the case here).
GM Lorenzo |
No problem, Aroden. I was just feeling lazy and didn't want to scroll through the gameplay and discussion threads trying to figure out who did/didn't.
Aroden Reincarnated |
Okay, just didn't want any confusion.
I will second what Quillen wrote - this was a spectacular game. In addition to keeping things moving, knowing the rules, and adding flavor to NPCs, your added descriptions to our own actions really were a nice touch. I will endeavor to use that as inspiration to make my own posts better in the future.
GM Lorenzo |
Actually, folks, I think it would be simplest, if you were each to remind me of your expenditures in gold and prestige that should be noted on this Chronicle.
I know I'd inevitably miss something or blow the math, so to avoid multiple drafts and corrections on the Chronicles, I'll prepare each as I get your numbers.
Thanks in advance for helping me put them together for you that way.
Kimiya Sayo |
GM - this was my first game playing with a group other than my friends and cons. And it was fantastic. I want to thank you and everyone else for the experience. The pace was frantic but we had solid, quality posts throughout and like Aroden said, having the GM add flair to what we wrote created a nice cohesive narrative.
This was an awesome mission - thank you.
I did 145 for Rd 1 and sounds like 63.3 for 2nd so 208.3 total.
GM Lorenzo |
I've completed Chronicles for Aroden and Quillen. The link is here.
I'll complete the rest as I hear back from each of you.
Please check your Chronicle and let me know if I need to make any corrections.
We still need to roll for Player Boons, and I'm waiting for the Overseer GM to explain the procedures.
As soon as we knock that out, I can report the session to the organizers, who will then report the session to Paizo.
*EDIT* Uploaded Kimiya's Chronicle.
GM Lorenzo |
Player Boons
Each GM and player rolls a D20.
A 19 or 20 wins a boon.
If you win, roll a d3 to determine which boon you get.
GM's roll: 1d20 ⇒ 20 (No way!)
Which boon?: 1d3 ⇒ 1
If you win a boon, please PM me your email address, so the Overseer GM can send you your boon.
Dale the Sage |
Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 51d3 ⇒ 2
Dale contributed 1/6th of the restoration twice, so 126.66g?
He'll also be using his Formula Alembic (taking 10 on spellcraft) to learn cure serious wounds from the free potion: 90g.
Faction Goal Completed: Participate in an adventure that takes place in the Blakros Museum or that features a member of the Blakros family. Alternatively, participate in an adventure that takes place on a demiplane.
Great game everyone, Dale always has a great time but extra so with this adventure. GM: Wonderful job as always. You did great work keeping it fast and fun which is key for these specials.
Kahwen |
Boon Baby!: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Which One?: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Huzzah!
Kahwen spent 190gp total, two shares on his own Restoration and one share on someone else's (I can't remember if it was Kimiya or N'aranav.)
He also spent 2PP to get sent back into the Tapestry.
And, as has already been said, great game, everyone. It really felt like we were contributing and it was amazing to me that we got through all the encounters of Part 2.
Thanks for keeping the pace up, GM and for the entertaining gameplay and interactions, everyone.
Kahwen always loves meeting new Pathfinders (and it's strange to find a table full of them, these days) and I always love playing with strong writers/players.
GM Lorenzo |
Uploaded the Chronicles for Dale and Kahwen, same link.
Dale, you definitely completed the faction goal to participate in an adventure that takes place in a demiplane. I noted it on your Chronicle.
Unfinished Business:
Looks like I just need to hear from N'Aranav re any expenditures of gold and/or PP, so I can complete and upload his Chronicle.
Still looking for Boon rolls from Kimiya, N'Aranav, and Quillen, too. Don't forget to PM me your email address if you win one.
Once, I've got that I can report the session.
GM Lorenzo |
So wish it had been Drandle Dreng who'd sacrificed himself to save the tapestry.
Kahwen |
So wish it had been Drandle Dreng who'd sacrificed himself to save the tapestry.
Not a fan or just think it would have made a better story?
GM Lorenzo |
He always reminded me of Randy Quaid. Not a lot of talent, kind of a celebrity hobo, not beloved but only derided by his agents.
It would have been an Oscar-worthy epic role-of-a-lifetime for him.

Everything on the chronicle looks good other than you noted 5g on dayjob vs 75g.
*Also love the RP opportunity for my new friend to follow me around and help. I just need to decide which one I can best come up with his 'character' to do so.
GM Lorenzo |
I like the image of Dale the Sage having a kappa fangirl. Filling her head bowl with his latest alchemical concoctions.
I corrected your Chronicle and replaced it in the folder.
Aroden the Returned |
I made my day job check here and got a 27. Can you add that to my Chronicle?
Thank you!

Heh, that would be a funny one too. But considering who this character is based on IRL, I chose the Dwarven Gemologist and named him Harold, after a geologist friend of 'Dale' IRL. (Yes many of my characters have connections to RL people.)
GM Lorenzo |
I applied the Chronicle to my dwarf warpriest of Yuelral the Wise, Conal Angus McKieg, from the From Shore to Sea module he's in with your PC Luurg.
I chose the Aspiring Warrior from the Muckmouth Lizardfolk. I named him Wavy Rancheros, after one of my favorite Craig Ferguson puppets. (I modeled the familiar of my samsaran mystic-theurge-in-training, Lazarus Logos, on another of his puppets, Sid the Cussing Bunny.)
I spent the 2PP to have Wavy teach McKieg draconic, and I'm sure a dwarf in full plate armor will have reason to appreciate the occasional boost to Acrobatics or Swim checks.
Dale the Sage |
Heh nice. I'll have to work on Harold's mannerisms. For about 20 years I always referred to Harold as Norm's invisible friend as I had never met the man so made the assumption he was just his imaginary geologist friend.
I finally met Harold at Norm's funeral. So I guess he finally freed himself of imaginary status.
