Is it an effort to revive 'death vagrancy' after several years of sane, involved, and interesting stories?

I think "intentionally blocking effective communication" is an exaggeration.

I think going from "most of us speak at least ten languages" back to "hey, you know this obscure language, that's impressive" is a more accurate description.

It's actually somewhat expensive to know languages now, but the other key question is whether everyone we encounter will still happen to speak common. Or maybe we're actually going to see more encounters where languages really matter now.

I think this is a welcome change, and I'm writing this as someone with a character fluent in 38 languages. It will make language boons that much more sweeter.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Oh gods, 29 replays. Along with with 41 unplayed scenarios and a handful of sanctioned modules I don't figure I'll ever run out of content.

This will be crazy useful during gamedays, for instance. Getting that 2 player table to fire will help our tiny local lodge to chug along while we wait for 2nd ed's offerings to reach that critical mass where newcomers won't be left without a table because the regulars have already played everything from current season.

ALSO, I finally get to pick between a fairy dragon, a raktavarna and a pipefox on a character with the actual darn familiar class feature.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Some character deaths my dice may have caused:

1 & 2: Same mummy, same mummy rot and Power Attack slams. Two piles of dust on the floor.

3: Paladin playing up vs a half-fiend. On water.

4: Three ratfolk inquisitors vs. a half-elf inquisitor. Same god, different dogmatic views + a crapload of dice.

5: 3 Greater shadows + a Strength 7 alchemist

6: Playing up vs a monk/assassin 11. Death by a thousand slaps!

7, 8 & 9: Mummies don't belong on tier 2-4. And definitely not with goons to boot.

10: Going unconscious under a fire wall.

11 & 12: Blakros museum basement blues on tier 6-7.

13 & 14: Six Seconds to Midnite. C'mon now, Paizo.

15: Two confused barbarians.

16 & 17: Cult of the Ebon Destroyers and a boss fed up clw wand yo-yoing keeping up the full attack vs downed characters.

18: Dumped the wrong stats vs Queen Rhoswen of the Fellnight Realm.

19 & 20: "We don't want to fight the optional boss we could actually damage. Surely this time precision damage shall prevail against our 3rd advanced greater earth elemental!"

21: There were kytons. And chains. And some clw yo-yoing.

22, 23 & 24: Big, nasty tendriculous and lots of awkward tactics. Also, 23th's second death during said module.

I also have to note NiTessine's 5 character deaths during Curse of the Crimson Throne AP. Guys, if the big bad is optimized to challenge your AC 43 frontliner, don't bring the backrow casters any-freaking-where near.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Hahhaha, I think I win this: An exo-guardian host shirren soldier whose gimmick was playing music so loud everyone had to resort to psi-speech around him.

Then they met a certain someone and I decided to tone it down.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Cairn of Shadows too.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

One, it'll Midsummer holiday this weekend, so me and the missus can have a night out this Thursday. Rare to the extreme.

Two, XCOM 2 is freaking amazing. So glad I bought a gaming platform after so many years.

Three(this will be RPG-related, promise), I finally got to run some SFS too. I don't think I'll be going for too many novas, since I dislike the system somewhat, but darn is it simpler to run. And Vossi was a real keeper.

Shadow Lodge

p cool. That Beggar's Pearl boon has a purpose now.

I think I got a Grand Lodge Stonelord in the wings that just got a purpose as well.

I definitely support adding Kyton eidolons at least. No reason to have such an iconic Paizo outsider restricted. Beyond that, maybe shoanti war paints? The rest of the appendix section is mostly diseases, poisons and artifacts.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

I don't want more evil in the campaign, but I do want more grey.

Moar questionable moralities, moar shady types, moar ethical dilemmas, moar picking the lesser evil. I don't want the Society to be a force of good in the world. In-setting, it pretty definitely isn't.

Moar evil would just boil over into the real world and I'm not interested in that.

This was a fun romp even though my Osirion/Scarab Sages devotee(ekujae inquisitrix of Abadar) retired in Beacon Below years ago.

And what a whompy boss! Dazed and 8 negative levels(enervation crit!) before I get an action in just screams badass to me.

[-701] defiant azimuth artillery laser, tactical knife and 90 ft of telepathy. Waiting for more money to buy an x-gen gun.

[-702] Tau croce hued in burning darkness. And a starknife for cosplaying a desnite instead of nyarlathite.

[-703] I'm at a loss, but kinda thinking about an electrovore glove.

Shadow Lodge

The linework is good, but it's hard to see that as anything but a t-rex sparkledog. Might just be intentional though.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Might as well make a proper contribution. Only proper surnames though.

* Vasco Cantige (Taldane)
* Ayrol Meandras (ditto)
* Perrin d'Auseil (Chel)
* Freki Ironblood (Kodarite)
* Ekewadu Oditobe (Zenji)
* Paurun Bindrani (Jalmerani)
* Dien Kommienezuspadt Iriannaleesa Roughchannel Weefiresoul (Wispilite)
* Vayu Dhatri (Korvosan Vudrani)
* Bodie Werrun (Ustalavi)
* Feruza Umid Kadam (Kara)
* Subath Usermeru (Osiriani)
* Gustov Lebeda (adopted)

I can't but agree with BNW, this movie's story was a dissappointment. But discussing it as such just brings out the fanpeople. Kinda feels like Batman v. Superman in that regard. I'm sure once the wow factor wears off in a few months, many will agree.

Anyhow, good, bad and whatnot:

* Both Driver and Ridley finally acting their hearts out. Their interplay was good and made the throne room scene all the better.

* Getting rid of Snoke was a good move. He was terribad and had no presence and no story.

* Wasting Laura f$!&ing Dern on some two-bit tearjerker moment when she had a perfect opportunity to replace Leia was a cheap move. I mean, I didn't expect Inland Empire or something, but come the nerf on!

* Good visual flair in that tearjerker though. Good visuals throughout actually. It had no Bespin with its glorious overdesigned decks, but hey, modern Hollywood.

* Porgs=!!! Porgs in space combat=eh.

* None of the new ships were interesting enough. An effort was made, unlike in TFA, but some distinct oomph was needed. Ship porn! Flying totalitarian space wedges and sleek retroscifi Jetsons fighters where you at?!

* Their depiction of Jedi was wrong. "Dark" vs "Light" is an entirely EU thing, whereas in the movies dark side was what those who used the universe's quintessential life for their own lulz were called and the jedi order went out of their way to hunt them because the dark side was an existential perversion, not because doing so would be a good thing. The Force just is. It's the natural state of things and does not discriminate and turning it into a yin and yang thing is a gross misinterpretation.

Argh, Muser must digress! In closing I liked it more than TFA, but far less than Rogue One.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Beyond the Halflight Path on tier 6-7 as my ratfolk occultist. Smallest char, highest strength, all gentleman.

EDIT: On the other hand, I just died facing Burnt Ivory King, so might as well say Dark Souls 2. :P

Why so low a tier? Thralls was 5-9, so almost no one in-universe will be familiar with Valais. I'm a tad disappointed.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Is the new apellation, Queens of Night, the go-to one now? I kinda liked Whore Queens in the context of Hell's misogyny, but I get the change.

For me, the Adventurers Guide has some Archtypes and Prestige Classes I'm dying to try out (Blossoming Light Cleric, Halcyon Druid, Sanguine Angel).

Have we ever had to wait this long for an AR update after a new hardcover has been released?

I wouldn't keep my hopes up for the Sanguine Angel. They make it pretty clear in the Gray Maiden article that Erinyes Company is all about serving Thrune and being evil cretinous cretizens.

Shadow Lodge

Amazing. A natural fit for my Liberty's Edge order of the Torrent signifier. Now to just keep her within tier.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Damn, I missed writing about our experiences replaying this last Tuesday. We too did a photoshoot which started with an accidental "wuts dis do?" type of selfie in which our Wisdom 7 magus had just been denied his me-time with the rest of the unidentified tech gear.

Shadow Lodge

Oh man, I'm running Ileosa & co on Tuesday and want to recall all the juicy deaths we've collected during 3,5 years of our CotCT campaign and make a big post here along with any lives possibly lost on Dearest Queenie. I think there've been 6-7 deaths in all, half of which involve an imperious sorc being pulped in various ways. Ah'll be back.

Shadow Lodge

Boy, am I glad that our Iron Gods group hasn't hit the road yet. Still have tonsa time to absorb dem spoilers.

Elizabeth Shaw was killed by David. What? Didn't see the movie yet? Oh no!

Triune does sounds interesting though.

Shadow Lodge

Sure, can't go much more valid than the Core Rulebook martial weapons table.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

"contestants begin the race with nothing but themselves and the cloths on their backs"

Loving it already. No golfbags, wands or other assortmenti!

Is that a salvage giant I see? Can't wait for Vialesk.

Lovi, grats on the 5th estrella, mi amiga.

You others are buen too, si.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

I've got 42 unused on my skald and have been thinking about retraining his racial resist cold 5 into something else. He has no followers though so getting a court to go along with his Noble Title might be something.

It's not the pp cost that's an issue but the writing. I want to write stories, give them names, figure how they fit into, admittedly disjointed thanks to the campaign format, narrative. And writing takes effort...

Barbarian with Craft(hemocalligraphy)!

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Just ran this last week and the group had it pretty easy beyond the Great Pit. Buggers missed 5 rooms entirely though they didn't miss more than maybe 600 gp and one cantrip wand!

Intoducing the "The Toilets!"

Nah, I'm just happy about space lizardfolk.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Frozen Fingers of Midnight and Hrethnar's Throne!

The sanctioned modules Curse of the Riven Sky and Witchwar Legacy also feature some northern fun.

Your guess is as good as mine. I recall putting it near the northeast corner of the cave.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

I tried to introduce Catfolk, but nobody took it. Dwarven and Sylvan have been fairly useful though. At least with the former it's usually clear when the opposition might understand it.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

There are 5 scenarios that involve tech in Season 6. One of them just has a cache of scifi gear and one robot goon, the rest are a bit more involved. Beyond those, one season 8 scenario is basically all tech and Cosmic Captive, the multi-tabler, has an optional tech section.

Wish there were more...

Shadow Lodge 4/5

It's the same with some diseases. They can't kill you outright, but you might need some oversight, with severely lowered dexterity for instance. This can represented by playing out a rest period just before handing out the chronicles.

Basically, somebody needs to change your crapped bedsheets or even feed you. Better treat your companions right or it'll be like a trip to a Victorian almshouse.

OK. How? The adventure doesn't even really begin until you get to the top of the Gloomspire!

There are three adventures, actually. Plenty opportunities for failure!

Shadow Lodge 4/5

It's p cool versus mummies and other evil foes with dr/- (aka dr/drokk_you), but otherwise...ehhh.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

You get to pick from a list of extra racial abilities cobbled together from the ifrit, oread, sylph undine sections of ARG. They are mostly caster-oriented e.g. Air Affinity & Fertile Soil.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Two dead in the first fight. What a ride! Had to tumble past 3 pirates, jump the gap to the hobgoblin and try to 1v1 him because we were already half dead after a single volley and two rounds of eely onslaught. It was quite literally touch and go, but luckily they gave up after he fell.

Afterwards I had a talk with some other con-goers present and it was amusing to mention that two had died before we even got back to the, already infamous, dungeon.

Shadow Lodge

Phantom blade has the same problem as the ectoplasmatist: spell list. There are so few touch spells worth your time that it's usually better to just two-hand the weapon. I mean, I like stricken heart and all but it's no shocking grasp. In phantom blade's favor though, it can actually reliably hit stuff. My ectoplasmatist is about to hit level 10 and it feels like Core flurry of blows from time to time.

Now, don't get me wrong, mindshock, spirit-bound blade, Power Attack, etc all assure there'll be plenty pain IF he hits.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

It's only a killer scenario when the tactics aren't followed.

"Zoathrias is a hit-and-run fighter. He tries to keep hidden and in darkness, to catch opponents flat-footed. Whenever he isn’t threatened, he reapplies poison to his blade."

Ta-daa. Unless the PC's can somehow threaten him in the darkness, Zoathrias takes a standard action to apply poison after delivering each dose. And he's got 6 freaking doses. It's essentially a puzzle combat where you are fighting against time to get the apparatus running before the boss is no longer nerfed by his own tactics section. :D

When I ran it he didn't even get his darkness mojo on because Perception +8 just didn't do it when all the penalties were accounted for.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Hayato is my favorite: Greater Weapon Focus at level 7 AND no Weapon Specialization.

I've yet to run a tpk, but there have been two very close calls. Naturally, those two were in Six Seconds to TPK and in TPK from the Sands!

In my 106 credits, I think I've killed 16 characters, 2 familiars, 6 animal companions and one shadowdancer's shadow. Life's cheap, particularily versus mummies.

On the side of the players, one particularily BS adventure comes to mind. It wasn't a tpk at all, but we had to struggle through aquatic power attack constrict monsters, wights, swarms, advanced necrophidii, a large air elemental and a caster summoning orcas. It was just pure de Sade all around. Sometimes on water.
