Interested but I don't quite understand the character creation, are we starting at level 4? And a little more info about the aura would be helpful as well Stats: Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 5) = 15 Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 4) = 10 Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 5) = 14 Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 3) = 13 Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 6) = 22 Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 1) = 10 Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3, 2) = 11 Lucky
Kinda agree with @capstain Morgan about Meri and Val's pic Very informative as always, I'm a huge fan of your guides. It also clears a doubt I had, spell casters being Nerfed, while trying to play my 1e wizard in 2e I noticed her save or suck and debuffs fails a lot, and because of incapacitation there aren't save or suck anymore... Enemies' saves are too high x.x Oddly enough the classes I like the most are the most complex such as Magus, thaumaturge and Oracle.
Tentatively interested... I of course know about kingmaker but has never played it, yet I've heard a few things I'm fairly familiar with 2e but a little rusty, haven't played in a few monts and I'm not too adept at using discord hope that's not a deal breaker As for character concept... I should read the player guide first xD Maybe my main character who is a wizard
After reading it I must say that Accursed Effigy kinda makes up for the lack of legendary class DC by imposing a -2 status penalty against things that use your class DC, sadly it needs you to physically hurt the target so it doesn't pairs so well with the wand implement which assumes that you will be at Range, that and it only works on a single target at a time so it doesn't improve your infinite fireballs x.x But hey, it kinda helps with the class DC Also just noticed that if playing a half elf you can pick ageless patience which effectively nullifies the penalty from using esoteric lore with diverse knowledge to recall knowledge about anything which is pretty nice
The builds look solid but I'd like to point out that you can pick diverse lore at level 1 so you can use esoteric lore to recall knowledge about anything at a -2 penalty which is somewhat negligible as your proficiency goes up and it's based on charisma which should be way higher than your int or wis Also don't forget dubious knowledge... Even if you fail you get a piece of info, the thaumaturge is a recall knowledge machine. Only the wily leader makes use of this and is something that, IMO every thaumaturge should do, perhaps picking diverse lore with human's natural ambition in case of needed ammunition thaumaturgy, I personally prefer to go melee for that reason, reloading is a pain x.x
So basically I like the ganzi heritage, their tails look awesome and their lore as the scions of pure raw chaos is great as well. But I can't device a nice build which uses their tails leaving it as a purely cosmetic choice x.xU So... Any ideas? So far I'd like to create a thaumaturge and apparently a natural unharmed attack is good for them but I'm not familiar at all with the class so I'd like some ideas
I'm in the same boat as op, I tend to prefer magical classes over strictly mundane ones x.x That being said I think that 2e mechanics solved that with how multi class works, back in 1e the fighter and it's martial cousins like the slayer look just ugly to me despite all the potential they have for damage and such. Now in 2e the fighter has clear edge over other classes because of their proficiency scaling to legendary AND you can pick a magical dedication and end with a good deal of spells even if you use them just for utility and some buff Also I'm pretty into the thaumaturge as well, I liked the occultist and really miss the magic but as I said I can just take a casting dedication to get some spells and be done n.n
Hey there, I've been following the thread and must first say that I likely don't make the cut... I'm not a huge fan of maps and it all seems a little too daunting to me o.o That being said... The creative side really appeals to me and being capable of creating a class... Well color me interested if tentatively. Also... Take a look at this: Freelancer AKA Create your custom class for FFD20 I've been dabbling into FFD20 a lot these days so I can certainly put a character together...
I'm not that knowledgeable about neither of these two AP but as far as I can tell... Kingmaker is easily one of the favorite APs out there but it's a little huh... Weird, at first it's runs smoothly but the last book (or were the last two? Can't remember) is a little awkward but by that point you already have the motivation of saving/protecting your kingdom.
Skulls and shackles is more chaotic and I honestly prefer the pirate flavor over the wilderness but that's just me X.x
Sorry to break your bubble guys but... I considered Sub Jobs but I finally decided that I'll stick to single classes, no gestalt either, multi class is allowed. Will go into more details once I post the recruitment thread. Also, while magitek exist in the setting building around it will cause your character stand out a lot, not necessarily a bad thing but will lead to some role-playing...
There certainly is magitek and yes the ship will have magitek engines and such, the crystal from your home town is not really aligned with any element, basically people has been using it to fuel magitek, now someone must travel to the other crystals to rekindle the light of the main one. Or something along those lines o.oU You also come from a floating continent/island like in FF3, it's big enough to have most core and base races but not that big, I'm still working on it's places and geography, gotta have at least two big cities IMO
Well, I haven't really sorted everything and starting unprepared would be very unprofessional so I'll take my time to get this ready and then create a recruitment thread. Meanwhile you guys can throw me any ideas, questions or concerns, answering those will likely help me to fill the many holes of the ideas that I'm trying to put together
Like in the games you'll eventually need to upgrade the ship in order to advance the plot :) Such upgrades will often be looking for certain material on a dungeon or perhaps win it in an auction, steal it or something like that, many quests will happen just to allow you to move forward on the main story.
Quick update, I've sorted a few things but I just bought a new phone and am getting used to it. So far I'm thinking about a mix of the options that I offered, you travel from place to place as in option 2 BUT you do do in a big airship of sorts which is big enough to be a town of it's own, somewhat like the Freya mobile fortress from god eater 2. Thoughts?
Alright, I'll make a recruitment thread :) I however will need to first write down and sort the ideas that I've for the setting and all those details but before that... What kind of game would you like? I can offer you two options: •Urban -Final- Fantasy: Everything happens in a big city, the plot won't be as overarching like those of FFIX, FFVII, FFIII or FFIV but more akin to FFXII where you fight to save your city/Kingdom rather than the world or the universe, it will also allow for more intrigue and social encounters, NPC will be recurring as you always are in the same city for most of the time, it will also be more slow and laid-back since there isn't a ever present threat or enemy, most problems happens because you look for them and so on, obviously as the heroes you'll get into all sort of these. •On the Road: there's something to do at certain place and you must travel there, and for some plot reason you must first visit other places and each of them have a dungeon and possibly a boss, this is more like the first final Fantasy games, you know that you must travel to the crystals to get new jobs and save the world or FFIX that there's a pilgrimage to do in order to obtain some Magic to defeat the bad guys, somewhat rail road and also time matters because the bad guys are doing bad things meanwhile, this involves much more travel, battle and dungeon crawl and less social encounters, intrigue is unlikely and you probably will end up saving the whole world if not the universe! So yeah, it's more epic.
So... Is anyone out there interested in playing FFD20? Is based on Pathfinder so it pretty intuitive IMO I'm interested as a player but may run a game if there's no other GM and enough interest.
Here's a corrected version of my sheet using standard Tiefling: Crunch/Sheet:

Background:
Dignity is a fairly renowned poet and storyteller in Saltmarsh, she's liked by most but is also a bit of a recluse and is more often than not writing new and stranger poems which aren't as enjoyable as the ones she recites to make out enough coin to live. Dignity formerly lived in a far away bustling, Metropolitan city where she for some time was renowned for her writings, all that changes when she starts having strange dreams and sanity shattering nightmares which influenced her writings. At first the changes were subtle but eventually she was known for writing morbid, nonsensical and even blasphemous poems and short stories but even then she had some fans who supported her, or at least she had until the scandal... One day Dignity received an anonymous gift, an ancient looking idol of a forgotten horror which entranced Dignity, that night she dreamed of impossible things, cyclopean cities beneath the waves, writing darkness that gnaws at the borders of reality and timeless entities that have existed before the dawn of times, older than the multiverse and likely to outlive it... It was too much for a mortal mind to process and so Dignity breaks down, insanity takes over and all that she has accomplished fell apart leaving only shame, a cruel irony given that she proudly boast her name Dignity. She doesn't speak about that, and hopes to not be recognized and that her performance as a deranged lunatic which ruined her reputation will be forgotten. How much time she was out? More an animal than a person, chanting praises to blasphemous things that shouldn't exist and babbling nonsense in imaginary tongues that defy explanation, of course once she fell from fame no one cared, some believe she finally lost her grasp on reality and embraced insanity, others that she was a fiend worshiper but most didn't really care, she was just another random and unremarkable writer among many. Thanks to the all the good deities she one day awaken, that nightmare end and she recovered her former personality but she didn't emerged unchanged from the ordeal -which lasted about a year- Magic, weird magic now comes naturally at her not like that of a Bard but rather a Sorcerer but that wasn't compensation enough, her life, career and reputation ruined, with no other choice she gather as little as she had and left, she traveled and survived using her skills at performance and storytelling and from time to time her newfound Magic. Her dreams however were still haunted and she can't quite resist them, resist the unexplainable pull towards the town of Saltmarsh, a backwater sure, a perfect place to start a new life far away from the big cities... But there's something else, something she can't quite figure out, at least not yet. Dignity has lived in Saltmarsh for a couple of years by now, at first she was obviously distrusted for being a tiefling but as time passed people get used to her, at least most of them... Some believe she's actually a Witch who uses Enchantments to rule the minds of others when convenient, that rumor is of course false but is not without bases, more than a couple of times she has used her mind affecting Magic to get out of troubles incapacitating thieves or drunken sailors who see her as an easy prey. Even today she sometimes can feel that unexplainable pull, a feeling of foreboding and dread that somehow calls for her to the ocean and beneath it's waves to a world forgotten by time and best left undisturbed less it's horrors become more than nightmares of a mad poet... Also, I envision here as red skinned but cannot found a befitting profile pic x.x At the moment I don't have any specific path or build for leveling up, just straight sorcerer and perhaps grab the Metamagic adept feat once I've maxed CHA
