All right, I finished fully editing the stats and crunch.
Crunch highlights of Mia:
-Tons of healing, every prepared cleric spell doubles as a potential heal as usual, 4 channels per day, 4 uses of healer's hands uses per day which heal someone for 13 or 17 depending on results, currently also a wand of cure light wounds.
At level 5 she gets the incredible healer feat which should allow her to almost fully heal someone from low hp values without using spellslots for a number of times per day equal to her character level. From past experience, this amount of healing meant I never had to use the wand of cure light wounds in 10 levels of play.
-Full divine caster.
-Tons of party buffs, starts out with cleric spells and Luck and Good domain cleric buffs. Eventually gets both main bard buffs; Inspire Courage and Good Hope.
-Is pretty good at trips and dirty tricks with her spear.
-Can deal decent melee damage if she ever buys an agile spear.
Well, that's everything. Good luck on selection everyone!
@Albion 14 int paladins? I respect going against the label of paladunces :)
Also, I added the writing sample from Mia's original application to her profile. I'll link it here too for easy of access if anyone wishes to read it.
Writing sample:
”So, in short, you cheated on your partner,” Mia summarized towards the closed curtain. She sighed under her breath - of her new tasks, the Confessional was the most problematic one - It most underlined her lack of experience as a priestess. Especially concerning Shelyn’s doctrine! But what could be expected, when the goddess had accepted her, a former street thief, barely two months ago into her servants? And with how Father Zanthus could only spare so much time for her instructions?
”Ah, well... yes, Mother.” The man on the other side of the curtain replied.
”Meaning, you feel guilty and seek Shelyn’s forgiveness?”
”No, Mother.”
She blinked. ”No? What do you mean; ‘no’?”
”Well... I really liked her and would like to do it again?”
”...Let me get this straight. You’re openly admitting to adultery yet ask the servant of a love Goddess – who is technically also a member of the town guard - permission to be a repeat offender?”
There was a shuffle on the other side. ”If that’s possible without getting cursed to eternal unhappiness in the ways of love?”
Mia stared, slowly turning to glance at her copy of 'The melodies of Inner Beauty' . As a priestess of Shelyn, the doctrine said she was supposed to nurture new love. So why oh why didn’t it say anything about whether protecting established relationships came first or whether it was the other way around!?
Okay, Plan B: Sidestepping and probing questions. Lots and lots of probing questions – have people make their own conclusions. It didn't require much knowledge, and few things made you appear more knowledgeable or likeable then pushing them in the direction they had already chosen for themselves anyway.
She ignored the pang of loss - one of father's lessons.
”I believe I have to know more. First, why did do you it?”
”I… wasn’t happy. I worked myself to the bone everyday, did everything she asked, but she kept showing less interest. She became more and more critical of me and didn’t make time for the two of us like we used to.”
”Poor sod. Was she ever really into him at all? Sound like she plucked him like a feather - at best. At worst, she's probably been cheating on him for a while too, but he’s too dumb to notice. Or maybe he isn’t and did this out of revenge, but doesn’t want to admit that - maybe even to himself.”
The half-elf shook her head. That was her assuming the worst in people. That line of thinking worked well if you had to fend for yourself. But maybe that was wrong. Sandpoint was a fairly small community and many people knew eachother. If that had been the case, someone near him or his family would have told him… right?
But what would a priest say?
”It sounds like the feelings of love the two of you had for each other have waned. Perhaps it is time to go your separate ways? That way, you wouldn’t have to cheat. ”
A master's guide to pointing out the obvious - by Mia Vespertine. Get yours now at just ten gold a piece!
”There is no shame in being honest. Many relationships do not work out, after all.” She added. "Love cannot work in a relationship if both sides are not happy."'I think? It's not like I would know.'
But the man on the other side of the curtain was silent, apparently pondering the workds. ”I see. Thank you, Mother.” He eventually said. And with that, he was gone.
And so was she. She desperately needed some fresh air after hours of doing this. And it was time for her shift anyway.
Outside, her partner was waiting. Clive's shit-eating grin faded when she exited the temple. ”Something wrong, Freckles?”
”The full version?”
”Try me.”
”I am. And trust me, indulging in your company requires the patience of a saint.”
”Problem solved, I say! Who better to advise is lowly commoners than a saint?”
She gave him a playful punch, then sobered. ”I just... feel I'm not doing a good job being a priestess,” Mia admitted, staring over the town square from the Cathedral.
”I don't think I'm even remotely qualified to listen to people and give them advice on topics I barely know anything about myself. I just straight-up told a man to end his relationship, maybe even his marriage, based on a one-sided story with the barest amount of details. And he bought it. That sort of thing can drastically alter or ruin someone's life. I'm afraid people drastically overvalue my opinion as a priestess. That I apparently have a gift for channeling divine power doesn't mean I have the wisdom of a goddess.”
The senior actual guardsman patted her on the shoulder. ”You know, and I mean this sincerely, that you're actually worrying about this stuff is progress.”
”That doesn't make it any better.”
”No, but then again, Elmar's girl hasn't exactly... been 'his girl' for a while. He's probably better off without her and whatever remained of the relationship was doomed anyway. If I had to bet, he was only here for the formality of consulting the clergy. And the gods, of course,” he added apologetically.
”Wait. Are you telling me that you were listening in?”
He shrugged. ”I have eyes. Last one to leave before you. Doesn't take much to put two and two together.”
She stared at him.
”Okay, I *might* have gone in to briefly check if my beloved partner was all right in there. Day's so hot, you might have just spontaneously evaporated in that booth. And I may or may not have overheard some things.” He shrugged.
She snorted at the mental image. ”Honestly? I almost wish I did. People talk. A lot. And I *have* to listen. Half the things, I wish I could forget right away.”
”And I know just the thing for that! Drinks at the Rusty Dragon. Let's say the first one is on me.”
The half-elf raised an eyebrow. ”Alcohol during the day? No, not just during the day, but during our shift? While I am here in penal servitude?”
He flashed another grin. ”It's called ‘inspection duty’. And we best get it done now, before the festival starts in earnest. Better make sure there isn't a nest of dragons of wyverns down there while we can, no?”
She couldn't help it – she laughed. ”Okay then. Lead the way, my oh so experienced one year senior.”
I am currently working on editing the profile to the trip, buff and healing build. It should be done in an hour or so.
I'd like to ask something, if possible; it is a fairly common houserule for classes with 2+Int skillpoints per level to have this raised to 4+Int. Is that something that was done for this campaign or would be allowed? I am considering dropping the cleric summoner archetype on Mia back to base cleric to get the Good domain for more party buffs and try a trip build as a secondary fighting style rather than summoning.
However, that would lose 2 skillpoints per level which leaves her with barely any, as most clerics, and mostly remove her ability to contributie outside of fights. If not, that is fine though and I'll stick with what i have.
Edit: The more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to try the base cleric build with the agile maneuvers/tripping and more domain buffs over the summoning one. I'll probably try and edit it tonight.
I finished updating Mia to level 4. She's a full cleric so she has a lot of innate healing abilities, 4 channels per day, spontaneous conversion of all spells to Cure Spells and the healer's hands + incredible healer feat combo at level 5. This should be plenty of healing for any situation.
Mia's fighting style is going to usually be either support or healer, the support being liberal uses of the Luck domain on allies (grants an ally 'advantage' on all d20 rolls for a turn, or two turns with a certain item) and, later, the bard's inspire courage. The plan is to take 1 bard level at some point, since there is a Shelyn feat that allows cleric and bard levels to stack for the rounds and action use of inspire courage (the effect of which can be boosted with certain magical items). With the luck domain, cleric spells and eventually the bard's inspire courage, she should be a major source of buffs for allies. In case of emergencies, she also has good summoning abilities from her cleric archetype.
I'd like to throw in my lot as well. This character was from a Rise of the Runelords from 6 months ago which I was then forced to abandon due to a real life emergency/work crisis, but now that things have settled down I would like to continue playing her.
The character is currently level 1, but levelling her up to level 4 is easy and I'll get to that tonight.

Hey everyone,
I apologize for disappearing for the last two or three weeks; work has been extremely hectic and I don't think I've written pretty much anything at all since then across all my characters. The short of it is that in the last half year or so I've had three promotions in my line of work, the last of which very recent and which has been the cause of my absense. I've posted such on a number of my PBP threads but appearently not this one, my apologies for such.
While the promotion thing is great, my writing time has very greatly suffered. As such I've debated withdrawing from PBP entirely since my career might legitimately no longer be combinable with writing.
That said, I don't want to give up immediately, and now that the immediate logistics have been handled I'd like to try maintingting PBP in a few of the older PBP's and this new one. I can't promise there is no risk of me dropping out at a later time since the workload is just very high. But if that risk is acceptable, I'll jump back into the game thread tonight, probably in about four hours from now. I encourage everyone to give their honest opinion on such and I'll take take it in stride either way.

Hello, Dejonker and welcome!
Mia has a fairly extensive background from her profile. If you see something that could mesh with your character concept, let me know and we can figure something out concerning a shared background?

To avoid this campaign stalling and ending before it begins, I think the rate of posting has to be higher for it to be viable (Darius and Lawrence are great at this, though). If Veera isn't responding and has been away for a month or so now, i would look for a replacement. It's much more important to maintain some sort of momentum than it is to endlessly wait for a player eho has apparently dropped out.

"The festival is amazing! Truly. We just did the wheelbarrel race and I was about to suggest going for the riddle compe-" Mia's eyes widen when she recognizes the mayor just a second too late. "O-Oh! Um. Hello, madam. I'm Mia, a novice acolyte. Though I guess acolyte implies novice
anyway and I shouldn't have specified, right? I'm just here helping the guard today. And hoping to learn a bit more about the faiths from brother Darius I suppose." She gives a nervous laugh as the group is suddenly faced with the highest local authority next to the Sheriff himself.
"When she says 'we', it was just us cheering on the four of them here," Clive smoothly interjects. "There's no way the guard would actually partake in these games, right Mia? Unless we had express permission, that is." He gives a mayor a questioning glance.

Still not sure what to make of the halfling, she glances around the area just to make sure she wasn't the setup of some sort of Sczarni attack, then stands back and grants him his request. "Sure, I can wash you, but you're going to get drenched... don't say I didn't warn you!"
She casts Create Water as much as he wants, though given just how much water even one casting is that probably cleans most of him. Also, I slightly redid Mia's skills so they fit her background better.

Fully engrossed in the race, she almost misses the comment until Clive gently prods her with a shake of his head. "Huh? Oh! Um, they are?" She manages, surprised the halfling girl had sought her out specifically.
Did she want something?
A pickpocket?
No - a furtive touch of the bundle (and what little was in there) told her it was still in place.
But that time Veera's sister falls out of the barrel, and then Larry, with both of them laughing and continuing their races in good cheer. She chuckles. "I guess you're right! Suppose I never thought of it that way. The elves seemed to be too refined to enjoy such a thing." She eyes the no-doubt stunning lass who'd spoken to her and mentally added her to the growing list of people who seemed to greatly outclass her in the looks department. "What's your name?"

"Oh, I remember that one. Father Zanthus recently went over the... Imperial? Empyrial... Um..." She looks at Darius for help, relieved he provided it. "Yes, those! Soralyon, the Mystic Angel. A lord of monuments and keeper of arcane secrets, right? Really dangerous secrets, he stressed. Is that true, Veera? What drew you to him as a patron?" She wonders, the other woman not particularly striking her as a cultist.
She observes the following interplay where both Darius first and then Larry second hit on Veera's friend in rapid order in their own, radically different ways. She felt a bit oddly left out, wondering if the other woman was really that much more physically attractive. But perhaps that was just her fate; half-elf making her an elf-minus compared to a fullblood.

"*Ahem!* Mia, are you saying we get a drunk a lot?" Clive says from the rear.
"...Yes?"
"...Touche. Still, I get the sentiment, Sir Darius. We should all live by the solemn code of not courting another's girl, do we not?" He asks, giving him a meaningful look.
"Psst! Not so loud! And not to be mean or anything but she just met both of them... isn't it a bit early to claim she belongs to either?" Mia asks on the way out, any potential implication going past her just then,

"Oh hey, it IS you... Veera, right? Did you ever do anything with those answers on the lost expedition?" Mia asks the arcanist when joined. Truth be told, it was both a surprise and uncomfortable topic when the other women had suddenly appeared at the shop to ask about her father's disappearance. But years had dulled the pain - mostly - and she'd eventually shared what she knew of it with the student of Thassilonean lore.
She returns the other elf's greeting and makes room at the table by shuffling close to Clive, who stiffens at the contact - only to get promptly elbowed in the side as her tea was counter-stolen back from him with a grin.
"And yes, we... well, Clive here is part of the guard. Me, I just... ah, help out at times as a healer, mostly," she continues. "It's nice to meet you again, Veera, and you, Sahlara. Do you have anything you want to do during the celebration?" She asks the elves.

@Lawrence All right, that works. Is he aware that Mia fell in with what he'd probably consider 'the wrong crowd' for the past four or so years? I think that after her dad disappeared and her mother fell into a depression, Mia herself eventually withdrew from her normal social circles.
@Veera Interesting, that's a bit of a painful topic for her, but she'd probably have told you what she knew after inquiring why you'd want to know. Did she ask as part of her studies of old ruins in the area or such?
@Wyssal Cool. I apologize as I don't recognize the names of any of those places and they don't seem to be in the player's guide - what are those locations and are they all in Sandpoint? That said, if Wyssal is a rumormonger she probably knows of Mia's background.

It fits Mia's background well and I'm inclined to take it instead of another trait, but there is the game-technical remification that if the fragile-ish cleric tries to disable a trap and fails, your main healer could simultaneously be down. If that ever happens it'd probably be up to Wyssal to get her back on her feet after such mishaps.
@GM Is there any target for how many real life days we have to round out any introductionary RP with characters meeting and/or knowing eachother before we start partaking in the festival and or the story is advanced? Also, do you not mind us writing the NPC's associated with us or would you prefer we didn't and left them to you?

The half-elf slows her pace. "Perhaps 'pressured' is a strong word," She says. "But... if I wanted to stay in Sandpoint, there weren't that many options either. Who would hire a thief? Who would do business with a thief? No one would or should trust me."
She stared ahead, overlooking the festival. "But if a goddess trusted me still, who would or should question her judgment?"
Whether or not she herself did remained unanswered. "Of course, this is all my own fault. And maybe I am too pessimistic about my options. Or too stubborn, perhaps. But I know I'm not strong or skilled in fights like the two of you. And there are just... some things I could never put myself to do, no matter how nice Miss Tesarani is."
Knowledge: Local:
Kaye Tesarani is the owner of the local Brothel, the Pixie's Kitten. She is also married to Sheriff Hemlock. According to the wiki.
"Or I could follow Father's example and look for local relics to sell, perhaps. Until one day I don't come back either. Maybe that would be best for everyone."
She shakes her head. "Ah... sorry, I don't want to go all somber during a celebration like this. And I'm going off track, too. Do I feel pressured? Is taking your only real out being pressured? I don't know. I'm both intrigued and confused that I'm able to channel the Lady's gift when there are probably countless worthier others who can't. And maybe a little scared, too. I'm... still figuring out what that means - and what demands are made of me in return, explicitely or implicitely. Does that make sense? "

"And we would be protecting you from... what - the girls?" Mia asked, amused. Her partner snorted, trying to keep his face straight. The moment fades soon, however, and she worries whether that was crossing some sort of line. "Ah, sorry. It's just... well, there are rumors - lots of rumors but I shouldn't make assumptions or joke about them," The younger Shelynite blushes, takes a deep breath and tries to start over. "What I mean to say is that we'll be glad to accept, right Clive?"
"If it makes you happy." The soldier managed, clearly a bit less enthoused by the idea. But they were already moving as was often the case with his part Elven companion.
"So... brother Darius? I was wondering... as you know, this priesthood was more or less thrust upon me." Mia ventures as they start going past the many stalls. "But you probably could have chosen to serve anyone. Why did you pick Shelyn as a Diety?" She wonders, looking at the paladin curiously.

Hey Lawrence and Veera, good to meet you! I don't think I've ever been in a campaign with either of you before (or with Waskally/Darius), but please correct me if I'm wrong.
For establishing potential shared histories between characters, we seem to have a fairly strong theme with the town watch/Sheriff Hemlock across the party, with Mia currently in it, Darius having provided services to them until recently and Lawrence having friends there. Mia has only joined/been pressed into penal servitude there recently though, so if she knows Lawrence it seems more likely they met some time in the past. As a suggestion, maybe he knows her from way back before her family situation went south and they haven't seen eachother in a long while? Like childhood friends meeting again or such? Both their parents are shopkeepers so that seems to make sense. I'm perfectly fine with them just being strangers, though.
As for Veera, if she's an outsider and only recently in town it seems Mia knowing her previously would have to be a very recent chance meeting at the Rusty dragon.

"Rosemaiden? Me? That feels so 'off'. Maidens are much fairer, prim - primmer? and proper. He's just being his overly charming self. Probably uses similar words on the girls he supposedly takes him from the tavern every week."
"Yes. The two of us and many others. I cannot lie and pretend I do not envy you, but you are probably taking a well-deserved break." She says, not commenting on the title. She ventures a hesitant smile. "But what about you, Brother? Do you have any particular plans for this celebration? Clive and I were planning on visiting some of the stalls to see if- um... to see if things are going well. And then have lunch later at the Rusty Dragon."
She wasn't entirely sure why she added the last part. Maybe it was just a sense of having to be truthful, to not hold something back from a paladin. Yet perhaps there was some desire to know the other Shelynite slightly better. He was far more experienced in their faith and should have good advice on how to behave like a proper priestess. To say nothing about how it'd be advisable to have a good number of strong and influential friends, especially in her position.

"You know, I almost forgot what it was like. To go to this festival with the intent to actually just have fun, rather than steal as much as possible from people who had their guard down," Mia said to her partner, an actual member of the town watch. Donning a leather armor on top of her normal clothes, the slender half-elf still felt very much out of place.
"Well, sadly, we're not here to have fun. Or even to roll pockets. Though it's good to know I have an expert with me to spot all prospecting thieves caught somewhere in the middle of this mess," He replied, grinning wryly.
"Yeah, yeah. I know, I know. But can't we partake in the celebrations just a tiny little bit?" The Shelynite priestess pressed, using her most hopeful smile.
Clive held the stare a good two seconds before he caved. It was longer than he usually lasted. "So long as it doesn't hinder us in our job, that's probably fine."
"Sweet! And here I was, worried *I* was the responsible one."
"You - what - That doesn't make *any* sense!"
"Are *you* talking to *me* about good sense, Mister 'I drink alcohol on patrol under the guise of inspection duty'?"
He laughed. "Touche. Though *someone* has to make sure the bevarages aren't poisoned! It's part of the whole 'protecting the people' thing."
"Hm. And let me guess - the same is true for testing the free lunch at the Rusty Dragon."
"Of course!"
"Then I suggest we also check all the stalls and partake in all the games. Just to make sure they're fair. Who knows what nefarious schemes are being concocted by the festival stall owners?"
Clive grinned. "Okay, now we're getting in the realm of the truly rediculous - but fear not, my lady. We can always write it off as publicly profiling the Guard among the populace."
"Clever! They'd feel more safe and secure that way." Mia agreed. "I knew there was a reason I tolerated you..."
About to take leave of the square, her ears perk up at the sound of sudden and quite enchanting music played from nearby. She hesitated when she saw who was the source of it, but eye contact was already made.
"Oh. Um. Brother Deverin. How fare you today?" She asked the Aasimar, inwardly cringing at how the formal language went with her as natually as water burned. But she couldn't help it - with his celestial heritage, martial bearing and skill with the lute and words, the paladin was everything she wasn't - or was, but better. Being around him always made her feel like she fell short in some way, and knowing he knew she'd been a thief until recently didn't lighten that sentiment. Still, she tried her best to a senior devotee of Shelyn, and just walking by would have been awkward...

But that depends on whether or not the penal servitude and her background as a thief is public knowledge to the citizenry or if it's kept semi secret to give her more of a realistic second chance.
(Side note off-topic, looking at your character sheet, how does Darius have 13 hp with 13 con? Shouldn't it be 12?)
Before all the work needed for the Sandpoint Cathedral, Darius would often volunteer in the Sherrif's office (I have that listed in Darius's backstory), so let's go with the notion that Mia & Darius know each other and the paladin is aware of his fellow shelynite's situation.
The additional +1hp is the Favored Class bonus.
All right, let's go with that and that they have no specific relation other than knowing eachother?
On the hp, he has 10 from paladin, 1 from con, 1 from FCB and one from...? His stat array and saving throws list his con as 13, his hp is calculated as if he has 14, it seems.

Hey everyone, and thanks for the invite, GM! It's good to be here :) I always wanted to try out the OG adventure path for pathfinder!
@Darius As I currently have her backstory, she was instructed into the clergy and faith at most a few months ago. Since the is doing penal servitude on the side in the town watch (as a healer, putting those skills to use), she is probably fairly early in that process and I imagine a close-ish watch was kept on her, with limited freedom. With Sandpoint only having one church/cathedral (to my knowledge), if you're a practicing devotee of Shelyn, I'd say the chances of us at least knowing of eachother are fairly high.
I'm not sure if they ever met previously to this, or what their relationship is now. I'm open to suggestions. I don't know how Darius feels about an ex-thief. If they met recently, Mia is probably (at least initially) a bit hesitant to trust him as being a paladin he's kinda like *the* instrument of the law, and he might know the full truth of situation which gives him leverage over her, in her mind. But that depends on whether or not the penal servitude and her background as a thief is public knowledge to the citizenry or if it's kept semi secret to give her more of a realistic second chance. Though I kinda like the idea of him being a mentor of sorts into Shelyn's faith if he's offered those kinds of services to the temple/Father Zanthus.
(Side note off-topic, looking at your character sheet, how does Darius have 13 hp with 13 con? Shouldn't it be 12?)
@Others, I haven't read all backgrounds yet but if anyone wants to think of whether there is a shared past of sorts with Mia, I'm similarly open to suggestions. Also, are there any skills we are currently missing? I could spend a trait to get disable device for traps if we're missing that, and it kinda fits her background to have it. Though It'd cost +2 initiative from Elven reflexes or Fate's Favored to pick it up so the cost is kinda high.
Here's the missing writing sample for Mia. I'm going to change her non-parents NPC to Clive Ashcraft, her town watch patrol partner. I picture him as a friend with potential to be a love interest depending on how things go. I liked him more than Coby, the orphan she knew previously.
Writing Sample for Mia:
Mia sighed inwardly. Of her new tasks, the Confessional was the most problematic one - It most underlined her lack of experience as a priestess. Especially concerning Shelyn’s doctrine! But what could be expected, when the goddess had accepted her, a former street thief, barely two months ago into her servants? And with how Father Zanthus could only spare so much time for her instructions?
”So, in short, you cheated on your partner,” She summarized towards the closed curtain.
”Ah, well... yes, mother.” The person on the other side said.
”If that’s possible without getting cursed to eternal unhappiness?”
Mia stared, slowly turning to glance at her copy of the melodies of inner beauty .
”Okay. Then why did do you it?”
”I… wasn’t happy. I kept worked so very hard everyday, did everything she asked, but she kept showing less interest. She became more and more critical of me and didn’t make time for us like we used to.”
”Poor sod. Was she ever really in to him at all? Sound like she plucked him like a feather at best.
”It sounds like the feelings of love the two of you had for each other have waned. Perhaps it is time to go your separate ways? That way, you wouldn’t have to cheat. ”

”There's no shame in being honest. Many relationships do not work out, after all.” She added.
The man on the other side of the curtain was silent for a while. ”I see. Thank you, Mother.”
And with that, he was gone.
Outside, her partner was waiting. Clive's shit-eating grin faded when she exited the temple. ”Something wrong, Freckles?”
”The full version?”
”Try me.”
”I am. And trust me, indulging in your company requires the patience of a saint.”
”Hey, problem solved!
The senior, actual guardsman patted her on the shoulder. ”You know, and I mean this sincerely, that you're actually worrying about this stuff is progress.”
”That doesn't make it any better.”
”No, but then again, Elmar's girl hasn't exactly... well, been his girl for a while.
”Okay, I might have gone in to briefly check if my beloved partner was all right in there. It was taking quite a while. I may or may not have overheard some things.” He shrugged.
”People talk. A lot . And I have to listen.
Rereading the character creation rules, the element of Mia's backstory of her mother resorting to substance abuse might not be PG-13/too dark. If that is an issue, it could be removed without much trouble. Instead, she just falls in with the wrong sort of friends in her teen years and ends up with the Sczarni that way.
This is my/Trevor's submission for the divine full caster role. I think it contains all the requested elements in detail, only missing the writing sample at present. I have a few ideas for such scenes but writing entire scenes takes a lot of time, and I wanted to post what I already had first. I'll try and add the missing writing scene/sample tomorrow.
