So...

Just looked over a couple characters with the new interface that Herolab launched, and it seems to have broken background's way of chosing skills/feats.

Seems any checks you made when the character was made before the new interface came in is just gone. If you upgraded one to higher teirs, that is also gone, and won't come back when you select the skill again using the background tabs instead of being able to check it on the skills tab.

Will have to remake every single character from scratch if I am to keep using Herolab, and that means I will have to convert every character to the new errata to "fix" the broken UI that was introduced.

Thanks, guys.

So, are these still around in the background somewhere? I would like to know how many I have, and have some way to keep track of them.

I also would ask about the Expanded Narritive boon and if we could bring it back for PF2 (as a 0 cost, still dependent on games GM'd and glyphs).

Could there also be a replay boon for a small about of AcP available?

Also might be nice if the reporter/player could denote reported games as replayed ones with a check box or such.

Cheers!!

Have to ask, has LoneWolf been informed of the PFS ruling with Languages for Herolab?

I am hopeful for some Gen Con news and want to volunteer to run in person gaming at the convention when the call comes through. The overall situation should be to the point of opening up all of the country, if not the world, from the Great Worldwide Shutdown (GWS) and we can have normal human relations once again. Conventions in general has gotten the short end of the stick on this, as well as the theaters and sporting events.

Any word on what Gen Con is anticipating for the convention consideration if the emergency order for the state is still in effect?

So...

The "Spell per day" are reduced, but "Preparing your spell collections" rely on the class' spell slots "from your spell slots per day for your class spells" and you prepare your spell collection from there.

So, example is as if you only get the two from the new table, but are referencing the old table in the class for the spell collection. Was this an error?

Or did they mean to hamstring the Flexible Caster to the point of being unusable by only having two spells to choose from for each level, oh, and the school spell, which is still prepared normally.

Did they mean to do this? Or is there something I am missing here.

Okay,
I made a Ganzi for PFS (with the purchased boon) and looking at the feats for the heritage (and the artwork), I am a bit confused.

Where in the blue blazes did the Tail thing come from? It is an addition to what the Ganzi were in PF1, and seems... out of place here. Did the writer get them confused with the Tiefling, or the Kobold?

I miss Quibble, as I mentioned in another thread, but taking up ancestry feats with Tail stuff, I just don't know what to say at this point.

The boon to start a character at second level (Experienced Adventurer) had the character start at 12 rep for their chosen faction.

That is not represented in the reputation for the session online. How does a player report or denote online the gain of 12 reputation.

Also, I have a credit that was played for no credit (a "replay" to make a table) They got the bonus rep for the faction, which my character is still getting. How do I place a no credit tag on her so the other still get the bonus faction rep while she does not?

Liberty's Edge 5/5 5/5 *** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Martinsville

So...

My character Darla Dream has 57 Reputation for the Vigilent Seal faction, as counted on Hero Lab and on my physical Cronicles. According to my (Corrected) online entry my total is 47. Now, I know the problem...

She is an Experienced Adventurer, getting 12 extra Rep at Character Creation. With the count being ten less, it took me a bit to find out where the extra two rep was coming from. There is an extra two rep rewarded for the one scenario I played for no credit for the Faction bonus for 1-07...

Now, the boon was already bought, and I made the character and tallied up the correct amounts, but it would be nice to have the online total match up to what I actually have, instead of what is currently there.

So, is there a reporting condition to have a player play for no credit, and will the playtest boon be a part of the tally at some point when bugs are worked out?

Sigh.

In the beginning of the Pathfinder release, there was a regular release of a one level adventure module made for the trepid adventurer to go on. It was nice to have one of these as a good diversion before continuing on the Adventure Path the group was trudging through. It was also a pretty good placement into the PFS organized play as one of three levels to play (a range dictated by the level of module) and had a way for "retired" or seekers to play higher level content.

Then we got into the bigger three leveled AP style Adventures (as they are called now) and the module line was ended. (changed?)

My question is if there is a chance to have the return of the one level module adventures in the future, or are the adventure books format somehow take away the resources needed to develop the single level modules?

I myself think that it might be nice to play my organized character in the other products in the line and modules like these would be a lot easier to sanction for character play instead of regulating it to Campaign mode like the Adventures line.

Hello, I am starting a new thread to those from the great clan the Sewer Dragons (and other kobolds) that have expanded their horizons to become members in the Pathfinder Society to introduce themselves.

I will start with Oar. Post below.

So...

"You theorize that spell slots are a shorthand for an
underlying energy that powers all spellcasting, and
you’ve found a way to tinker with the hierarchy of spell
slots, combining them to fuel more powerful spells.
When you make your daily preparations, you can trade
two spell slots of the same level for a bonus spell slot of
up to 2 levels higher than the traded spell slots. You can
exchange as many spell slots as you have available.
Bonus spell slots must be of a level you can normally
cast, and each bonus spell slot must be of a different
spell level. You can also trade any spell slot for two
additional cantrips, though you cannot trade more
than one spell slot at a time for additional cantrips in
this way."

My only question is that I can still trade two Cantrips for a 1st or 2nd level spell slot, right?

Reason is that even though cantrips start out as 1st level spells themselves, the slots are still below 1st level slots in the memorization paradigm.

So, this archtype require the character to know the languages of Ancient Orsirioni and Spinx.
Just one problem, a player character has no way to learn these languages, as there is no rules for them.

Am I missing something?

Looking into playing a Living Monolith, and with Enlarge, I will be wielding a Large Weapon (and have reach and Clumbsy 1)

I can't find anything about the damage change for larger weapons, just bulk conversions. Is there a damage upgrade for a larger weapon (going from Medium size to Large)?

SO, looking at the tables GM'ed on the organized play, I don't have any PF2 tables gm'ed at all, though I should have one glyph. The games are reported, as seen in the sessions, but not showing up in the counts.

Is this a known issue?

So...
The Achievement points still need implemented in the reporting correctly if I am not mistaken, as GM's are getting 1 no matter what while players are getting a slew of points.

I am wondering when the boons will be available for the PFS and is there some work being done to be able to print the boons once we get them?

Now, various electronic devices aside, if I can't print my boons, then I can't use them, and what would be the point of getting them if I can't use them?

Seems that I started a discussion about Non-Lethal damage in the blog comments.

From all accounts thus far, it looks identical to the Starfinder rules, where Non-Lethal is just another type of damage and only matters on "last hit."

I was hoping for something a bit more than the Starfinder "between" ruleset placeholder for this. The Dying rules in the playtest is better than the Resolve or Die Starfinder paradigm, but having no way to track how Non-Lethal is effecting a character except on "last hit" is disappointing.

Thoughts?

So, I am using Herolab.

It included the Elemental Defense power when I leveled up to 2nd level. From what I can read and look at, the Archtype should not get this power.

Am I right?

This is on top of the Monk Damage going below the minimum level of Monk Lvl 1. (I had to add die damage in Adjustments to have it register correctly)

I did report both bugs to the Herolab PF bug reporter on their site.

For now, I just need to mark off the power, as it doesn't effect the character if not activated.

I tried to go back to edit my character to get an avatar for him, after making sure to save the rest of the info before the site timed out.

It seems that the button to choose an avatar is no longer there. Is this being worked on, or do we need to try and choose the avatar first with new characters? Is there a way to change avatars now?

Thanks.

Hello.

I am wondering if there has been any thought at all at some effects for Non Lethal Damage other than "Last Hit" as it is in Starfinder.

My overall concern with this is that you have situations where a group has to take someone "alive" and there is only that one person that can do Non Lethal while others would take a penalty to do so. If someone happens to do Lethal Damage as the last hit, the target has the potential to die, or could end up dying from mass damage if the situation calls for it.

The dying rules in PF2, with changes and adjustments taken thus far as well as from the start of the playtest, have been better than what Starfinder has got. (Combats are lethal for the NPC in Starfinder)

I think either a Non Lethal pool that would be a gage for how much below 0 a hit could do before the target begins dying, or something that works like the hardness system with pips could be used. (Heal a Non-Lethal Pip once an hour)

Thank you.

So, Herolab is downgrading the damage of the Oozemorph weapon as they would be as Small weapons, but the ability does not actually say that this would be the case. (Or that it is not the case)

Just wondering, is a kobold still doing 1d4's instead of 1d6's for damage, or is it not dependant on size of form? Is the Oozemorph Fliud Form still small sized for small creatures?

The entry doesn't say that the other form needs to be my original race, but can my character choose to be a medium sized creature (like a human, sort of like that nice Drendle Dreng person?)

Liberty's Edge

Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

With Goblins being Core having a reaction on these wonderful discussion forums, I want to go over some things about the races and see if the core races are everything we expect. To begin, know that "Races" are now called "Ancestries" now, and that should mean that the Human will have some, if not all, of the different reginal Ancestries represented in the Core rulebook.

So, Humans may have a starting entry then have individual entries for their Ancestries following. So we have entries for

  • Chelaxians
  • Garundi
  • Keleshites
  • Kellids
  • Mwangi
  • Shoanti
  • Taldans
  • Tians
  • Ulfen
  • Varisians
  • Vu drani

On top of that, we have the core races from the PF1 book.

  • Dwarves
  • Elves
  • Gnomes
  • Halflings
  • Half-Elves
  • Half-Orcs

and the Goblin is added in, as noted.

My question is if there was any consideration to include any of the other races, either before the Goblin stepped into the spotlight, or after, maybe even considered taking out one of the other races (like the Hobbit... err, sorry, Halfling) to make room.

Here is a list of candidates I think would have worked as a comliment to the core races and the Goblin.

  • Tengu. The Tengu has been a staple allowed race in PFS, and in a lot of home campaigns as a result, and likely just as popular as the Goblin, mainly because of the Sword Training racial trait. PFS will likely have this bird continue to be a core playable race as soon as it is able. (in my mind)
  • Dragonkin. Called something else in the other two editions with Wizards, the Dragonkin can be a nice addition to the Golarion lore, and have an identity that is made specifically with the new book. It is unlikely Paizo would do this, but the idea is still valid and doable if done right.
  • Kobold. The dragon worshipers and fanatics could be a very nice player addition, using their mining acumen to become a valued member of society, and the tentative packs with the Dwarven clans would be rife with story ideas.
  • Ratfolk. As a core race in the Starfinder book, it would make sense to make it core in the new version of Pathfinder as well. (I don't think we need to rename them Ysoki in this case) As a small race, they would likely need to replace one of the others (Halfling, maybe?)
  • Aasimar/Tiefling. The Tiefling being a core race in the PHB, this would naturally be something that can be included to compete with them. If you include one, the other would likely need to be included also. I can't see this happening without replacing one of the other races, and likely we won't get this entry until a later book.
  • Kitsune. Having the Tien race would be representitive of the variety that exists in Golarion. Likely, a lot of the populace have seen or met a Kitsune without knowing it.
  • Catfolk. This ancestry could be fun, as there can be different breeds of Catfolk that have different Ancestry entries much like the Humans. I had Siamese, Calcro and such when I homebrewed them in 3.5.
  • Gripplis. With it being another small race with a Climb speed, I feel this would replace another small race, likely the Halfling. I believe this race could have been the addition instead of the Goblin.
  • Elemental races (main four, not the Suli, Ganzi or such). Though they are in PFS at the moment, I believe these races are best left out of the core rulebook. Neat as they are, they are even less common than the other races mentioned thus far, save for the non-existent (for now) Dragonkin.
  • Wayangs. To be honest, I don't have a lot of interest in these guys, though they are worth a mention because of PFS inclusion.
  • Nagaji. The Naga inspired humanoid is almost forgotten in the otherwise available races in PFS, and really, there are better choice on the list.
  • Orcs. Now, say what you will about the Half-Orc, the Orcs still could be a core race, perhaps replacing the Half-Orc totally. The main problem is that the Orc is territorial and self interested. Some play Half-Orcs in the same way, but they are tempered with the human half and how they perceive their own being. My own feeling is that Orcs have their own story that does not involve the player character.

So, what are your thoughts and how likely is it that all the human Ancestries will make it in? (Azlanti excluded)

So with the new version coming our way, is there going to be Prestige Classes included in the Core book, and will they be fixed to be up to the same standard as the main classes/Archtypes and be accessible at earlier levels?

I believe the entry point should be (and should have been in PF) at around 4th level, with some niche PrC's released later on (and the Assassin) having an entry point later at 6th level.

Thoughts?

So, I have three pips before third level and my magical child is at a quandry. What to choose as a second form for my Animal Guide.

The Improved familiar has it so that the chosen familiar needs to be one step away from the PC's alignment. Being Chaotic Good, that would be NG and CN. (Neutral is two steps away at a diagonal).

In the Core list, that would mean a Celistrial creature at third (no choice at 5th) and a Pseododragon or Homonculus at 7th.

Is that right?

Right now, Herolab has a Beheaded, Pyrausta and a Dire Rat as the choices at third, and no Celestrial creatures at all.

So, my character is using improvised weapons with this feat. He is a wayang (small character) carrying two Mugs, a hammer (that he uses for carpentry), and a pot that weighs four pounds and likely just as big as he is.

So, would using (in hero lab) a Mere club for the mugs, light mace for the hammer, and a greatclub for the pot be the equivlants, or should they use something else?

I will need to ask the GM each session regardless what I use as a placeholder for them, but I want to get the closest to what they should be for their use as a weapon.

Thoughts?

An interesting question came up in a session yesterday.

Create Pit makes an interdimensional space.

Can a creature use teleportation effects while in such a pit?

Or is it an extension of the prime material plane, the extradimensional space used to effect such an extension in an instant, which also allows such things as a 30 foot deep pit on a second floor?
