Sorry about posting as Larkos. That's my regular forum alias.

Edit: I thought Rhonda was a new character but I am an idiot and didn't see that the last post of the character was just a backstory. So I assume the last list was the final list of those being considered.

Another thing I noticed is that there aren't that many good healers in the group either. I could heal though that would force to change my character a bit and even then I wouldn't be very good at it. The Bard can heal but not very well. So that leaves us with the Oracle and the Alchemist. the Alchemist's backstory doesn't make much sense with healing though I suppose anyone would want to heal themselves. The Oracle's backstory mentions healing so I guess she's a shoo-in.

BTW, don't mention how healers suck because I don't mean in-combat healing. Having a healer allows for more combat and keeps the party running strong in a long adventure.

Yay for almost starttttiiiinngggggg

Regarding healing; we can just waste party gold on potions. Maybe TLGM will treat it like costco.. buy in bulk and get a discount?

Lol yeah. Either that or the alchemist (assuming he gets chosen) or me (if I have to take the cauldron hex) can brew potions in bulk for less cost even if it would take a long time.

But that would leave either of us with the strong temptation to open PotionCo(tm) and leave the party. Either that or the party becomes employees of PotionCo(tm) and we fight thugs hired by the alchemist's guild because we're encroaching on their business.

Someone should start a corporate warfare game. It'd be like Shadowrun meets Pathfinder. Shadowfinder? Pathrun? Shadowpath? Runfinder!

ha! Well done.

Silver Crusade

Yeah, I anticipated a lack of healers after I described the action level. Not to worry, I have contingencies.

That's good. That's great. No...uh...no PotionCo(tm) then. That's...that's great. *cries in a small corner*

Hey, still a sand-box. And you can bet that in a city like Krisol there's gonna be office space available...:)

Yes...my plan for conquering the world under the corporate boot of PotionCo(tm) can proceed on schedule. *maniacal laugh*

...I mean, oh yeah...uh...cool...I guess. Y'know a company might be kinda cool.

Now for what has seriously been the most difficult decision I've had to make in about ten years or so...

The Finalists
1. Bronan Aasimar Cavalier 1
2. Garrett Human Fighter/Wizard 1/1
3. Baru Tiefling Fighter 2
4. Alhandra Mermaid Oracle 2
5. Odd'n Human Fighter 2
6. Thorn Human Rogue 2
7. Gwyn Aasimar Fighter/Rogue 1/1

Tier: 1.9 (Bronan, you can take another level if you want...)

Thanks to everyone who submitted, it really was a tough choice.
Even though it looks like it's fighter-heavy and unbalanced, the roles are different, I promise.

Plus, this will not be my last homebrew, and I have your profiles, so I will PM you when I do another one, and you will all have priority over anyone else who wants to join.

Like I said before, the finalists now have 72 hours to muster on the Gameplay thread (there will be instructions on there very very shortly). As soon as everyone musters, we can begin!

Also, I seem to have broken the Gameplay Thread...anybody know how to fix that?

Woo! so glad I made it!

If I click on gameplay it goes to an empty thread, Idk if you already started one that is supposed to be attached

Oh well. Can't wait 'til your next game then. PM me if someone drops before then. And good luck to everyone who got accepted!

its empty, but I can post in the game play, don't know if you already fixed it.

Me too, I did start one, but I deleted the post (I needed to make sure a link worked). I think that means I broke it...I'm emailing the web-master.

No, I try to post, and nothing happens....

weird. The site recognizes that there are posts. Look at the web address bar (it changes with each post) it says 5 posts have been made so far, but you are right I can't see the posts that have been made.

Oh well, good luck everybody who got in :3

Until we get it figured out, we'll just play in the Discussion board and Discuss on here.

On that note, the Muster Instructions are up! I can't wait!

Stoked to have made it!

I am going to update my inventory tomorrow to account for odds and ends im presumed to have and reduce some gold (all my bags items and knick knacks only add up to 18 additional gold). My play style will be entirely unarmed.. some grapple where appropriate. Calm headed... until I see a slaver; rather withdrawn until I see extreme poverty and depression when ill be insistent on helping. Low wisdom so not quick to catch on to subtleties.. but not stupid so oddn will catch on to things eventually (hopefully before he gets himself in trouble).

feat wise im goin towards better grappling and dealing piercing damage while unarmed ( so oddn can eventually punch his fists into people). No weapons. Ever.

As for starting area; the shanties. Ill add rp fluff tomorrow in the discussion forum... but suffice to say ill likely go wandering vagrant route around town pondering my future while ignoring the odd looks. TLGM; can I rp a scene where I walk into some slavers? Maybe my hook into the party is I start a fight I shouldnt have..? I am eager to roll dice for my goon... and starting out beaten to a pulp sounds hilarious ;P

I ran into some unexpected problems at work today and pulled a 16 hr shift, as such I will have my character up and on the boards by tomorrow evening after I get off work. Apologies for the delay it will not be a regular occurrence.

Have fun all.

@Odd'n: that sounds great! Out-right slavery is illegal on this island, so the only place you're at all likely to find slavers is the docks.

@DW: Like I said, you have until about 1900 on Saturday, so no need to break your back

@Bronan: I'm not sure where those extra bonuses for HP are coming from...Max at first and roll your hit die for the next...
Also, you have two ranks, so you can roll again (that goes for everyone if you ranked Profession more than once...)
otherwise, looks good!

Animal Companions
For each rank your character has in Handle Animal, you may roll on here to train them to do/have a trick or general purpose that they'll know at game start. An animal companion can only have 1 general purpose.

Enjoy, all!

Thanks for picking Thorn. I will have a allias up soon. To make sure I understand we are going to be running the gameplay in the Discussion thread.

Just until I hear from the webmaster. If it turns out there's no fix, I'll open a completely new thread.

Either way, when we switch over I'll post a huge summary.(Don't worry, I'll definitely start it with "Previously on TDotQ")

One thing the rules make young characters small creatures. Thorn is in the middle of the averages for 14 year old boys at 5'4" and 135 lbs. do you want me to leave him a small creature or would he be a medium creature. I have no problem with him being shorter and lighter since the height and weight is just fluff really.

For the HP:

1st level max for Bronan is 10, rolled a 5 for 2nd level and 2 x 2 con bonus = 19.
For the animal companion, 1st HD max is 8, rolled 8 & 4 and 3 x 2 con bonus = 26.

HA General Purpose: Fighting: 1d20 + 6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 4 + 2 = 31
HA Trick: Heel: 1d20 + 6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 4 + 2 = 23
Bonus Tricks: upgrade Attack, Track
(extra skill bonuses are for it being an animal companion and being a dog)

You should be able to disconnect this recruitment and discussion threads from this game, make a new one and reattach them there.

Thorn is within the range for an adult man on both counts, so he's medium.

@Bronan: oh, I forgot you add the con mod for each level... My b
And thanks for the advice, I'll keep that in mind

Well TLGM, Odd'n rolled god-awful for everything he tried to to. Hope you enjoy reaaallly messing with him ;) haha.. goodness..

...aaand we're patched! Hooray for the webmaster!

Sooo, I completely forgot to roll my 2nd hit die... I just put it as average. Want me to roll or keep it how it is?

Hypothetical Dice Roll:
HP: 1d10 ⇒ 8

You haven't been involved in anything affecting HP yet, so feel free to take the roll (and don't forget your con bonus).

Hello players! We've taken a hit to our census of late, so we're looking to add 1-3 more players.

Here are the character creation guidelines:

Character Creation:

Classes/Races: Any Paizo (If you want to do Drow, standard only)
Alignment: Any. I know that’s risqué, but I’ve always wanted to try it. Feel free to be whatever you want, and act however you feel your character would act. That being said, if you’re evil there are some rules you have to follow: no attacking or killing the other PCs, no betraying the other PCs in a way that might get them harmed or killed, and no graphic acts (to include rape, child murder, public indecency, etc.).

Level: 3

Point-Buy: 19, just to be random. No min/max.

HP: Max the first, then roll on here for the others

Background: VERY IMPORTANT, I need a good story for your character. Notice I said good not long. A note on languages: common is Taldane for this campaign, but in the spirit of creativity, if you want your character to be from a far(ish) away land where Taldane is not the common language, take a rank in Linguistics on me.

Feats: Any paizo
Traits: 2 of any paizo that your character qualifies for (as in, you can’t take a trait that isn’t supported by your character’s background, not that I’ll do a lot of research on everyone). You are ENCOURAGED to take a third and a drawback, or four traits and two drawbacks, heck you can go as far as you want with that, as long as it fits your character, and you don't pull more than one trait from a category.

Spells: …you guessed it: any paizo

Money: Show your roll. I will be looking very closely to your background if you choose the Rich Parents trait… Also, if you rank your profession, I’ll let you make one DC 15 Profession check per rank for 50gp and an additional 10gp per score above the DC, if you roll a nat 20, you get a bonus 100gp.

Equipment: I will be looking at carrying capacity, so be smart with your purchases.

I'll also be tracking food and water (one day's ration/day; .25 lb water/day). Not to worry, I'm not above god-moding some manna.

If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask.

The current party consists of a fighter/monk and a summoner. Keep that in mind when bringing forth your characters.

.25 lb water per day is a really, really small amount of water. I get that you ration it and stuff, but the recommended amount is somewhere around 2liters (~5 lb), if you do light work only (i.e. walking travel in temperate climate).

Obviously this varies a lot from person to person etc., but 1/4 of a pound is like two glasses of liquid a day.

/end nerdrage.

Looks interesting. What's the story like? I must admit to a distaste for very limited wealth character creation.

Yeah, that's old, I forgot to change it. I'm not really tracking food/water anymore.

Well, right now, the ifrit mayor of a volcanic island city's son, along with two children of lesser birth (a catfolk girl, and a human girl), have been kidnapped by thriae.

The current party just discovered a temple to Arshea in the jungles of the island and learned the bit about the thriae. They are now currently picking their way through the forest with the mayor toward a different temple: the temple of Pyralis a brijidine azata with a large local following. They're headed that way at the behest of one of their (NPC) travelling companions who is an acolyte of that temple; they believe her elders may know something about the thriae, and where they can be found.

The new character(s) would be joining the game through a turn of the story. You could be a follower of Arshea who chooses to follow the adventurers for one reason or another. You could be a parent of one of the lost children who's made their way to their current position. It could be any one of several things, just PM me if you have an idea, and I'll see if there's a way to work it in.

As for money, you'll start with 3000 gp, plus the profession bonuses I mentioned.

Bump.

I'll dot in. Give me a few hours to work something up and I'll see if I can be the person you need!

I saw in discussion that you'd gotten a potential hit from a paladin/oracle of Arshea. Did that character end up joining in? I was considering a chosen one paladin of Arshea when I first saw the thread, but I don't want to step on any toes.

I'm working on putting together the chosen one paladin I was asking about, but I didn't see a swan familiar, which is Arshea's holy animal and would thus be the most appropriate for a familiar meant to guide her into Arshea's service. Could I use the stats for a trumpeter swan and have it grant a +3 HP bonus like the chicken does? Its stats seem to be fairly well in line with other familiars, but if you think it's too powerful, it's totally fair and I'll figure out something else.

Cooooooooooooooooooooool

This is Rennai with my progress so far on an angel-blooded aasimar chosen one paladin of Arshea. (That's a lot of descriptors. o.O) The crunch is mostly finished; the main thing I need is to go shopping. The story is still rattling 'round my head in pieces, but I should get it put together tonight. For now, it's time for bed. Gotta love night shift.

Dark Archive

Hmm... I love me my evil characters, but with a potential paladin on the docket, I think I'd rather not be "That Guy".

That said, what would you lot think of a somewhat unhinged Dark Tapestry Oracle with the Shattered Psyche curse? Basically a CN-ish individual with a couple of additional personalities in his head.

EDIT: Also, is this set somewhere on Golarion, or in a homebrew setting? Just curious for backstory-building purposes.

No worries, I won't be that paladin. :)

Lena Variane wrote:

I'd hope not, since Norme has a very real and legitimate Succubus bound to him instead of an Eidolon (mechanically an Eidolon). XD

Rennai: The other person hasn't posted anything or said anything since their initial question, so fair game. Which isn't to say Pathfinder isn't versatile enough for us to have two paladins or a paladin and paladin/orcale to the same God and have no toes stepped on. Also yes, feel free to use the trumpeter swan as a familiar, but rather than +3 to HP, how about a +3 to bluff and diplomacy against the opposite sex?

Veltharis: Sounds like a fun character! And to answer your question, a little of both. It's set on a (homebrewed) volcanic island a ways off the western coast of Cheliax. Krisol is known as the trading post between the Inner Sea and its colonies to the west, and a safe-haven for a multitude of races (hence the "any paizo race" bit of character creation), the mayor of the town of Krisol being an ifrit himself.

Counterproposal: how about a straight +3 to Diplomacy or Bluff? With Arshea being very specifically an androgynous deity that champions gender fluidity, a gender-specific buff seems incongruent. But I totally get that a straight +3 to both skills would be too much.

All right, her story's mostly in place now. I just have to figure out traits and go shopping and I think I'll be done, unless someone else sees something I've missed.

Dark Archive

Character is taking shape... Debating a couple things that might require express GM approval, as they're not, strictly speaking, "by the rules", but I'll go into that once I have things have solidified a bit more.
