It's because true invisibility is too hard - so instead the spell called "invisibility" generates a Somebody Else's Problem field (“The Somebody Else's Problem field is much simpler and more effective. This is because it relies on people's natural disposition not to see anything they don't want to, weren't expecting, or can't explain.”) But of course once it is stabbing you (or your companion) it becomes Your Problem.

Fairly low-level way of somewhat achieving the effect (pre-bilocation/threefold form).
Twine Double can obey verbal commands allowing it to be semi-autonomous OR you can control it telepathically - so you can basically move your consciousness back & forth between your meat body and your twine body(bodies) and the double(s) can act on your verbal commands (probably like Unseen Servant)- though they can't engage in combat.
Fearsome Duplicate is pretty similar - though almost entirely worse than twine double - except for better casting time.

Though I guess if the spell were Shout and it caused the cavern ceiling to collapse I wouldn't say the falling rock damage came from the spell - so their is some level of direct/indirect damage.
Also, "Claxon" sounds like a spell that should benefit from Concussive metamagic.

You might be able to stack on Fairy Cap - it says it works like reduce person but it's a herb not a magic item, "...effects function as ...reduce person, except can affect any Large or smaller living creature; the effects persist for 10 minutes in either case."

Actually my character is an authorized representative of the multi-dimensional bank. Just drop your valuables into this bag of holding and I'll write you up a receipt. Wait a couple of hours for the initial paperwork to be processed and you're all set. Whenever you need to make a withdrawal just call out this phrase I'll write on the receipt ("Owah Tagoo Siam") and a representative will appear to handle your withdrawal or deposit....

Sysryke wrote: That was a great episode. You can look at a lot of Star Trek in general for Utopian ideas.
The federation seems about perfect. An earth with no poverty, major disease, war, or any real challenges. Jobs and societal standing are all based on skill and merit. Nobody wants for food or housing. Would be really awesome if Rodenberry could have explained how mankind got there.
Yet, for all of that, there are still troubles and conflict, it's just on an interstellar scale.
On a tangental note....
Just (re)watched STNG 1:25 Neutral Zone (first time for kids) - there are some humans that were frozen 300 years ago that the Enterprise finds - and the Enterprise crew is sickening (so are 2 of the 3 peopsicles) Picard acts like they are just the biggest inconvenience all episode (ugh, do we have to wake them?). No one thinks to tell the ships computer not to give them full access to the whole ship. No one thinks to assign a crew member to monitor them full time (or ask for volunteer history buffs to do so) or give them grief counseling until the woman (of course) breaks down in tears in front of Picard and then he brusquely orders Deana to deal with them & keep them out of the way. Anyway, the crew is all like "Oh, so strange these ancient people really feared death!" (the peopsicles are relativity young and frozen due to medical conditions Crusher finds trivial to fix) "Oh foolish ancient people - we no longer have money or care about accumulating material possessions.
Then later in the evening watched Picard S1 E2&3 (w/o kids) - and Picard's doctor is all squirrely/hesitant about telling him of a possible health issue - so much for 24th Century people being so well adjusted no one fears death. Then Picard visits an old acquaintance whose living in a future trailer in the middle of nowhere - and she bitterly complains about her "hovel" while he's living at his vineyard surrounded by heirloom furniture and heavy oak beams. In a deleted scene Picard threatens too fire a whole crew of peasant looking grape harvesters because one mocked a Romulan characters ears. Guess they aren't dressed like peasants and picking grapes in the summer sun 'cause they love grape picking. So much for no longer having cares about accumulating material possessions....

To a barbarian with Body Bludgeon rage power a Monk's Body is considered a two-handed improvised weapon that deals bludgeoning damage.

Use it as a 1 hour timer? (Any actual change to an object (beyond just moving, cleaning, or soiling it) persists only 1 hour.) So if you made a piece of sting purple, cut it up and pass a piece to a bunch of different people that need to coordinate something (e.g. launching an attack) they'd all turn back to white at the same time.

I wish Paizo would de-emphasize the mechanics of the weapons. Any weapon is dangerous in capable hands and who cares if a Wizard wants to carry a longsword like Gandalf? Just say any weapon used 1 handed does 1d6 if you "simple" (basic) weapon training. If you have "martial" training it does 1d8 and you can choose something worth 1 pt (e.g. extend the critical range or add a bonus for a maneuver quality) if you have "exotic" (advanced) training you can either bump the damage dice, bump the critical (possibly again) or something else. If you dedicate both hands to fighting with the weapon you up the damage one dice size (and maybe that means using 2-handed when you backhand (like in tennis) or using the open hand to balance a lunge (like a fencer) or grabbing at your opponents cloak (who cares - it just means if you don't use the hand for anything else your round of effort is a bit more effective). Let player's pick any weapon that fits their concept and base how effective it is for them on their level of training (class/ feat).

Part of the issue is that it is incumbent on the melee specialists to make balanced choices. If they make int a dump skill, then yes they won't have many skill points. If they dump every gold piece into maximizing their weapon DPR instead of taking one less +1 one there or +2 less on the str belt they could afford a lot of little items that open up a lot of non-combat options.

It shouldn't have any issues with a Charlatan's Symbol only 1K gold if you can craft wondrous items
then 750 gold for the wand of your choice and it can cast something like protection from evil on you the first round of every combat or cure light wounds when you are injured.

Oh, and I'd think the half-elf alternate racial trait Multidisciplined would stack with Bifurcated magic. (Multidisciplined - if have spellcasting abilities from at least two different classes, the effects of spells she casts from all her classes are calculated as though her caster level were 1 level higher, to a maximum of her character level.)

Possibly an alternate favored class option if you choose the correct race.

I have a Shaman with a monk dip that uses Slumber Hex with Hex Strike. It does make for a devastating punch- but I do have to get into Melee range and hit (and my BAB isn't that great).

I think the RAW was correct, but not the flavor. It's an angry mob but it's still made up of people. People that are suddenly blind will slow down their movement and have more to worry about then attacking. They will also, if continuing to swing clubs, torches, pitchforks around start damaging each other as much as the party, so if you give the party full damage maybe have the troops damage themselves - which will keep the glitter-dust caster from feeling their spell was wasted/ignored.

I think a quiver of arrows is probably a legitimate target. I believe when the target of a spell is an object, it just means it can't be creature (living, undead, construct). A regular plant is an object.
I'd say given the spells level and the 5' square that it should be a small object (five square feet of surface area or less) but the game tends to be pretty liberal in it's definition of "object". For instance Shrink Item gives a burning fire and it's fuel as an example. Make Whole target an object and can be used on a ship (per Skull & Shackles) even though a ship has multiple parts. Lighten object can be used on armor even though that could be broken down into piecemeal armor. I'd allow any object that I'd allow for mending, animate object, minor/major creation. Since arrows can be bought/enchanted as a group I'd allow a group of arrows.

A bit off topic... but I wish non-gamers were familiar with when the phrase, "it's what my character would do." It's the easiest way to shorthand my feelings when a corporation talks about, "maximizing shareholder value." (also known as sticking it to the employees and customers simultaneously.)

I wish they'd just make both Dex and Str apply. You need one to hit the right place and one to hit that place hard. If you hit with great accuracy you slip through where the armor is weakest - if you hit hard enough you don't need to hit quite at that weak point the blade will bend the edge and still slip in. Make to hit be Str + Dex and damage Str * Dex or something. And make all the weapons basically the same damage. Any weapon invented by a group of people, wielded by someone who knows how to use it is dangerous. Pick the one that you think is cool. Done.

Having Keen Senses, as a half-elf, makes you even more aware, as compared to a 1/2 elf without, how inferior you are to a full elf.

To fire a large bow you just need to cast levitate on yourself. Lie back on the air with levitate. Then you place each foot on the grip on either side of where the arrow will lie, grab the sting with both hands (one on either side of the arrows nock) - straighten your legs and use the big muscles of your back as you draw the large arrow up the length of your body - use the levitate to aim your feet towards the target. Like Larry Niven's The Integral Trees. YMMV when attempting to deal with the acceleration your large bow imparts to you when firing the arrow and levitating.

Thanks, strumbleduck!!! That passage makes a big difference.
Komoda - You don't think Timothy Geithner is a badbutt? You should fear Jamie Dimon (Chase) & Robert P. Kelly (BONY) - bankers are like first edition rogues - they get experience points for every gp stolen.
claudekennilol wrote: Quote: the party isn't getting 2400 gold for defeating them. They're getting whatever gear that it had, minus whatever consumables it used, and then half of that when they sell it, divided by however many party members there are. True but the chart gives a proportion of the gear that is intended as consumables (limited use) and it's pretty low. Assuming the NPC used up ALL of it's consumables and nothing in it's non-consumable gear is an upgrade for a party member then they are getting:
Medium advancement 1650-100= 1550 /2 = 775 gold
Fast advancement 2400-300 = 2100 /2 = 1050 gold.
The treasure by encounter table recommends (medium) 260 gold and fast (400) - So if the encounter is mixed in with 2 encounters with treasure-less animals/beasts it comes out about right.
