Lord of Conflict wrote: An intelligent gladius with a built in poison reservoir and magic that enhances poison. Its one and only desire is to envenom foes in combat.
Hw does that sound for an item?
That's hilariously cool and I'm stealing it
Lord of Conflict wrote: To start with the obvious, what is in the name? Beast King would imply power over beasts, perhaps it could grant something like Dominate animal? Also sense it is made from the bits of magic beasts, consider what abilities that the creatures had in life and what could transfer over do to residual magic.
Verdant Moon
Verdant: Green with vegetation; covered with green growth
Plant powers, some moon themed spells? I am drawing a bit of a blank on this one to be frank.
Verdant Moon was made primarily for an elf NPC we had, the moon part just sounded cool to me. But there is a Moon based dragon diety whose cold aligned
Beast king however, Thats a good idea. Some kind of mind power...
So I'm in an irl long term game, i made a crafting wizard
At the beginning of the campaign the gm and i discussed my wizard making legendary weapons and stuff
I have some ideas, but I'm one man and looking for some good combinations for enchantments and such
Right now i have a
Longspear I'm calling Beast King which is being made from Hydra fangs, a Hamatula Barb and Dragon bone. The theme of this weapon is essentially i made it large sized and gave it the impact enchantment. Understandably i have some room left to work with to make it a worthy plus 5 weapon
The second i have is an elven curved sword Verdant Moon crafted purely from dragon bone, i want to put keen on it buts thats all i have as idea.
How would you feel about Grippli...i have a kind of creepy witch idea
Ditto, I'll get something up quick, I'll roll up a Hunter. There's more than enough magic in that group lol.
Question for the gm. The Halfling slingstaff, enchants a bit weird and its the focus of the build. How do you wanna rule this?
I'll throw my hat in.
5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 1, 4) = 12 10
5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 1, 4) = 11 9
5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3, 6, 3) = 20 14
5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 1, 5) = 17 15
5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 5, 2) = 16 12
5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 4, 3) = 21 14
5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3, 2, 2) = 13 10
Oof...but workable
I'm thinking... Halfling fighter. I wanted to use Slipslinger style to make a switch hitter. I've thought of the character more as Halfling Viggo Mortensen than frodo
I know nothing about dynamic casting but i do like rise of the runelords and pathfinder 1e
The burned meat bits make a tasty sauce though
Sentient dinosaurs would be interesting... Make a good enemy or something.
Level range, general darkness and plot of the campaign could garner more interest. I can tell you personally this is the kind of game I've been waiting for.
Certainly not because its the perfect setting to have a druid or hunter with a dinosaur companion lol
I'll have something submitted before the nights over. Took me a bit to decide on a class
To late to submit interest?
I have a day off soon, I'll be drawing up my halfling Fighter with the halfling slingstaff and the slipslinger style. Tbh he's very much going to be the Aragorn ranger type of character.
1e all the way, not terribly into 2e. 1e with some edits maybe.
paizo and or roll 20 preferred
Definitely. I want to try out my halfling fighter that uses a slingstaff
When i get home from work I'll take a further in depth look at everything but im in
I'll jump in, if you've ever played Devil survivor 2, the character im throwing in is essentially because i thought Alcor was awesome, theme and all. True neutral, Shaman of heavens, Stargazer eventually.
Ill dot with something. Ive played a bit of both, and get the general premise
giving long hard thought on my character. i'll have a full submission up by thursday night.
but here's what im drawing up
Human Spirit guide Oracle of Bones with the Lore spirit with the Lich curse for theme
Lawful neutral or just True neutral
when i say necro focus, i just mean that's my build, im still deciding class lol.
he will be human, low wisdom. havent decided between oracle or wizard
I'll drop an interest in making an Lawful neutral... Necromancy focused type. Ie good guy, bad powers type.
i am as well, you'll probably find ap's get attention
I'll dot, making some kind of Heavy crossbow sniper. Something I've had the urge to try lately
Damn and tarnation. Good luck everyone
Orin Telmar wrote: Orin is mostly fleshed out. I plan for him to be a good diplomat, and good at spotting and removing traps. He will, of course, participate in combat, but I don't expect that to be where he shines. it's all good, between all the martials there will be plenty of damage going around. The real challenge is in abilities and such. Hence why im going to try fit in eldritch heritage kobold for trap runes and stuff
I'll consider it. Im debating a few things with Racial heritage Kobold at the moment, mainly because of access to dragon things.
Im actually having a lot of really dumb ideas now. Eldritch heritage kobold bloodline... this is a line of thought i need to halt immediately
You know, I don't actually have a name for it yet. That wasn't high om my list of things lol. Lol
Alright, so. I should have something up by tomorrow. Ive been working on the mechanics and backstory. Ive decided against a tower shield build for now. Maybe that'll change in the future idk.
I've decided to go Eldritch guardian to get a pet Hawk for scouting purposes.
Might try throwing in dirty tricks into my feat tree. Along with the shield bashing feats and such.

Now is the time for the Tower Shield Build, now is the time for Mobile Bulwark Style and providing cover.
Now is the time for MORE ARMOR CLASS.
That said, should have a rough draft up today at some point.
Ki
Do we have a Rising of The Shield Hero here. That would be cool. There's an idea, If it were possible, i would. i am focusing on the shield, though starting off with power attack and shield focus, im deciding between the cunning feat and or something else,
though i am inspired to build with dirty tricks in mind

Giant Halfling wrote: Arcahe- dragons are cool, lol. ive looked over the Dragonheir Scion. Its not terrible.
Free arcane strike and feats for intimidation builds
Scaling energy resistance and Natural armor and intimidation.
Free wings too, cant forget that.
I can definitely see some use as soon as i figure out a weapon and build idea.
Part of my brain giggles at the idea of getting Cut and smash from the air at some point but doing it with his fists. I might try swinging in that direction.
Giant Halfling wrote: Archae- if archery feels too crowded for you feel free to switch, but if I understand correctly Orin isn’t going to use stealth or snipe at all so there would be some considerable differences between the two ideas. im just throwing ideas around mostly. I'm mostly trying to occupy time at work, figure out something cool to do, While also trying to build something to theme.
Two things that stuck out are A weird Master sniper Familiar build
And dragon heir Scion because... Well Dragons are cool and that's the dragon archetype that sucks the least imo
Okay so there are a lot of archers. Dropping archer as a concept then. Hmm... throwing shield and sword build is go then. Maybe throw in a side of Dragonheir Scion fighter
Alright it Orin is doing sneak attack archer im going to try my dumb ideas with Heavy crossbow and bolt ace, because i saw some things that made me giggle
I fully plan on specializing in stealth and Perception because sniping, personally
RHMG Animator wrote: I'm a fan of the old school stuff at times, and feel Ranger/Rogue, or Ranger/Ninja might be a better fit then Slayer, as a part of me even wants to dip into Shadow Dancer as well. i just built a pretty effective shadowdancer dancer actually. I'd avoid rogue unless you want the finesse training, there's some redundant abilities and Shadowdancer works best when you have that full bab. Ranger could work well if it gets darkness spells to cause dim light
RHMG Animator wrote: Archae wrote: Okay, after some thinking and quiet time. I've discovered what i want to actually do.
Make a Sniper archetype Slayer. Long range sneak attack, Hawkeye type
Oddly there was a DnD 3.5 PrC that did that, I believe it was called Order of the Bow Initiate, +Xd8 60ft ranged sneak attack, with some Close Quarters Combat protection.
-----
Working on a Sneaky Ranger, and thinking of dipping into Rogue from some good ol sneak attack, and some trap skill...... id recommend looking into accomplished sneak attacker as well, if you do dip

Submission
Here's the first draft of my submission. let me know what you think.
Kazmanaught wrote: My word! Those feats are excellent! building around prestige classes is something i do a lot. i know a few things and tricks to make them work. Those feats really bring them up to something unique, as prestige classes should be.
Brolof wrote: Archae wrote: Eldritch knight got two exclusive Feats Btw Arcing weapon and Explosive weapon. both really work for it, id check them out I have never seen those feats before... Oh god, you could do the usual Magus thing, but use it with much higher level spells. Polar Ray anyone? Yeah a few of the prestige classes got feat support and stuff, especially with favored prestige class feat and the like kind of fixing the spell level loss issue

Hubristic Efreeti wrote: Either of those options would be fine. I would even grant you a +2 fire damage for Brazen if you took it over the more popular initiative option. you see, im an idiot who likes the idea of just having the fire damage, just because i grew up playing 2e and baldur's gate where trolls regen is a problem and i like having that damage there as a precaution
So I'll take you up on that plus 2. It's... Hot... I'll see myself out now
So i was looking over the Ifrit Fire affinity and what the normal switch out options are, they suck tbh. How would you feel about switching fire affinity for Brazen flame [1+ fire damage on each melee hit. ]
Of wildfire heart [+4 initiative]?
Last question i promise. I plan on building everything, fluff included tomorrow
I'll give a more in depth response after work. But in general i love it all. The curse stuff sounds incredibly fun to Rp.
As for the feat tax stuff i agree. I would like to take it, makes spring attack reasonable to get
Giant Halfling wrote: Archae- if you’re just looking to explain the mechanics of your fighting style, I don’t think you need the currier bit at all? If you want to move fast and punch people, monk is definitely the way to go (brawler could work too, though you lose the speed boost), and the shrine of Irori is the only place in Sandpoint to become a monk. The good news is that Irori is all about self-perfection, so if speed/quickness is something that you see as a personal strength they would encourage you to embrace/develop that, leading to the fighting style you have in mind. Just my 2cp, do with it as you please. Yeah, the courier bit was solely to explain mechanically someone moving fast. Monk is sort of the go to option here because of its scaling speed and Ucm being the best puncher in the game. Thanks for the advice, it helps.
Giant Halfling wrote: Archae- that’s fine but remember you’re only first level and an established member of the watch (who’s also been studying at Irori’s shrine in your downtime), so being a trained military currier too might be a little tricky to work into your backstory? Sandpoint doesn’t have its own military either, so you would have had to have gone to Magnimar for a while for that… where are you looking to go with the currier angle, is it something the watch could have trained you in, or maybe some kind of family business that you help with on your days off?
Fighting chicken- a halfling barbarian settled in Sandpoint might be difficult to explain, but I’ll be very curious to see how you try if you decide to go that route.
it's more an explanation for the mechanical aspects of the character. When i was coming up with the fighting style i saw that one scene from Justice league with the flash punching Brainiac Luthor. And subsequently based a character around the concept of moving really really fast and punching someone hard.
So the idea of a courier, someone who delivers letters, packages and such as a good jumping point for a characters profession. It also might just be better to work in a different class
