Starfinder FAQ and Errata Update

Tuesday, December 12, 2023

Greetings, Starfinders! I’m proud to announce substantial updates to the Starfinder Roleplaying Game posted to the Starfinder FAQ and Errata page! You can read the details of these errata in full by expanding the dropdown menus of each product, and you can further filter your results using the search bar at the top of the page.

Starfinder Enhanced

Starfinder Enhanced takes center stage this go around. This includes clarifications on how the enhanced witchwarper can take advantage of their alternate class features, some significant boosts to biohacker snipers and medics, and fixes to the DC of some troublesome feats. We also updated the back-matter of a handful of Adventure Path volumes, including the starsinger archetype from Starfinder Adventure Path #47: Nightmare Scenario and the plane-touched species from Starfinder Adventure Path #46: The Perfect Storm. Almost every hardcover has some level of errata, but perhaps the biggest change involves some clarifications to the Starfinder Roleplaying Game system itself, including official clarification that you can now intentionally hit a willing ally without an attack roll, and an explanation of how characters with a 0 ft reach can engage in melee combat! There are many other changes and, as always, we welcome more questions, comments, and feedback on our Rules Questions forums. And feel free to discuss this errata right here on this blog post!

Continued thanks to our Organized Play Program for finding many of these concerns!

Oooo, love that "you can hit a willing ally without an attack roll". All those biohackers can more freely distribute those performance enhancing concoctions now!

Also, yes, Starsinger! Want! Need! I wish it wasn't boon only though T.T No Melophile, no Starsinger, make me a little sad.

Probably a bit late now, but is there any way of indicating which items within each errata section are "new"?

Ditto. Besides biohackers.. and everyone else, getting to play anya with serums and spell amps I didn't see anything globas as opposed to very specific.

There's new errata not marked as such scattered throughout several books. (Newer stuff is towards the top for books that have been errated/FAQ'd more than once on a particuar list.) Noted on the discord yesterday as either new or not previously known to various participants (some of the below is almost certainly old but just not popularized or very noteable then and maybe not now):

You can shoot friendlies who want to be shot without rolling. Helps with those shield weapons that give HP, as well as injection (only biohackers can hit without doing damage, though) and those Locus healing weapons.

Called fusions work with combo gun plus bayonet to call both of them back to you.

Defrex Hardiness spell only provides half as much DR.

Titan Shield has a usage (and weird/unasked for/obvious clarification that it doesn't get bigger when used on Large+ armors).

Spell Amulets are harder to attach to weapons/armor freely for those considerable buffs.

Fiendish Torment got nerfed, I think the change is that it requires a full standard action to maintain the grapple now, it used to be move or something gross like that.

Conjure Grenade cantrip (techno list only) requires grenade proficiency to throw (techno doesn't have proficiency)

Moonlight Fibers are a free action activation so they actually do something, and are magitech instead of necrograft for some reason.

Adamantine Shot spell can attack one target more than once, but double/triple attacks on a single target take a -4/-6 penalty.

Verdant Code still greatly OP, now allows a standard action to try to shake off the entanglement on later rounds.

Blast Door spell can be opened as a move action. (Who knew, or cared?)

Various class, archetype, or other abilities that reduce fusion transfer/isntallation times have been modified to take into account the new faster fusion rules from the last errata.

Turquoise Cube Aeon Stone, which is very strong and cheap, limited to one use per day.

Hurl Ally got a lot of questions answered.

A bunch of SFS notes for AP items/options got codified (e.g. Zeitgeist connection spells).

All the obvious Ports of Call errata (missing paint sprayer stats, Germination Serum is not FULL PLANT IMMUNITY, MUAHAHAHA!, etc.)

Booster Shot biohacker theorem upgraded from hilariously bad to weak.

Nanocyte Body Array loses hardness option, making it 40% less overpowered and still very overpowered at high levels for punchy builds.

Other minor Enhanced changes/fixes.

Is there a single compiled PDF with all Starfinder Faqs and erratas? There are so many nowadays that having to open accordions inside other accordions has become extremely impratical, also because sometimes the page stops scrolling and you have to reload it from the beginning, with all the accordions closed again.

As long as the Starsinger and Chorister aren't legal in SFS, I don't care.

They slightly nerfed/clarified Starsinger, but not enough to make it within light years of SFS eligibility.

I have the same problem with pages not scrolling, and having to reload.

Sovereign Court

How do we determine what is the "new" errata?
