Between Starfinder and Pathfinder Tales, you've been visibly in charge of two of my favorite things. (Well, OK, Starfinder is new enough that I have to live with it and play it more to know for sure, but I like what I've seen so far.)
Best of luck with the whole fiction thing. I hope somebody manages to push the Pathfinder Tales line forward so that (among the other novels waiting) we might have a chance of seeing more Salim in the future....

For the past decade, Paizo's products have been the foundation of countless hours of roleplaying fun, and while I've often dived into other games and settings, Pathfinder (setting AND game) has always been at the center of it all. The Astronomican of my gaming activities if you will.
You've been a massive part of what has made Pathfinder such a vital part of my life, and I thank you for that.
I look forward to following along on the sidelines as you embark on your next journey, and I'm immensely pleased that you're not leaving Pathfinder and Starfinder behind.
Thank you, sir.

Wow! Congratulations to you! In addition to enjoying the fine Paizo products you have developed, I've enjoyed your Gen Con seminar talks and chats in the vendor hall. Your work is really impressive and your passion for what you create is obvious.
As a person who has left jobs that I was good at, I understand a) what it's like to give them up and b) what it's like to have people look at me like I have two heads when I tell them I'm leaving. But, as difficult as the decision sometimes is, you know when it's the right one. You will rock. :)
Best wishes!

Wow, thanks everyone! You're gonna have me crying in my office over here, even as the rest of the jackals in this building start fighting over my office supplies... *looks over at Jason Keeley sneaking away with a stapler*
Seriously, though, it means so much to me that folks have connected with this work I've poured all my creativity into for what's basically my entire adult life. But never fear, you will *absolutely* still see my name in Paizo books! A big part of leaving is having time to work on my own stuff, it's true, but it also means that I might not have to constantly make the choice between my own stuff and Pathfinder/Starfinder when it comes to managing my meager freelance time. (For instance, had I had more time to write, I probably would have tried to keep much of the Pact Worlds book for myself, covering it in vomit like a hyena and growling at anyone who came too close. Instead, I was *forced* to be a responsible manager and assign it to a bunch of talented writers, taking only a modest portion for myself. And you *know* how much I hate being responsible and modest...)
Anyway, the point being, you haven't seen the last of me, and I really appreciate those of you who've offered to check out what comes next. I'll keep you posted!

Please know that you will be sorely missed. Best of luck to you in all your future endeavors. I hope your future writing projects might include the further adventures of Salim...
For everything you have contributed to the world of Pathfinder, THANK YOU.

I've known *of* James, so as to say hi to him at Gen Con once every three years or so, from the old days of me freelancing for the magazines. But even when I was hired at Paizo, for quite a while I didn't work with James, or really get to know him, because that's not how the schedule ended up working.
Now that I've been working under him for more than a eyar and a half, and Starfinder s the spectacular result of that combined effort, I can say I know James. And I am very glad of that fact.
It has been an honor and a privilege, sir.
I look forward to the products of your next adventure.

I think you should invite both me and Wes as Guests of Honor at the same Paizocon and make us split a room, so it's just like old times.

HA!
...
Now you have no one but yourself to blame when that's how it goes down.

Very exciting for James! I've enjoyed your Pathfinder Tales, and of course all your Pathfinder/Starfinder RPG work, so I'm sure I'll be following whatever's next.
One concern with people leaving Paizo though... at some point the new employees will be sitting around and realize with horror... no one knows what happened to Aroden or where the heck they left Golarion!

It's time for me to cue up the Annie Lennox track from the end of Return of the King and sail off into the west.
Namaarie and fair travels.
... and I'm totally sure that James Jacobs won't resolve that whole Mengkare's alignment first thing on Monday... really ... he's much more likely to assign it to you to write as the "proper" alignment as a freelancer.
