The Fight for the Gauntlet Rages On!

Monday, May 12, 2014

I can truly say that the team was astounded when you helped us raise over $2000 in a single day for The Gauntlet charity tournament event coming up on May 18th. With that, we have earned a number of "power ups" that are going to help us in the tournament to claim The Gauntlet. Alas, the fight is not over yet!

In the past few days, we've seen our competition enter the fray, getting a mountain of donations. One in particular, has surged past us! While we commend them for helping to raise money for Child's Play, we still want to beat them and show that Paizo fans are some of the most awesome and charitable fans in the world!

To that end, we've decided to announce some special goals, to help raise some more money for this event! If we raise the following totals, we will unlock the goals and give everyone some awesome rewards! Check out these exciting funding goals!

  • $3,000—Caveman Reward: In honor of Ugg-tect, one of the games we will be playing in which the participants are caveman architects, we will put together a free PDF of a "caveman" humanoid race for use in your Pathfinder games.
  • $4,000—Card Game Reward: We will release a PDF featuring the Gauntlet team members as new Ally cards compatible with the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game.
  • $5,000—Audio Reward: We will put together a "dramatic reading" of a chapter from one of our Pathfinder Tales novels, featuring members of the Paizo staff as the characters.

In addition to these great rewards, at $2,500, $3,500 and every $1,000 dollars thereafter I will post up some tantalizing spoilers from the upcoming Advanced Class Guide right here in the thread associated with this blog post! Expect to see those shortly after we reach each goal. The bigger rewards will take a little bit of time for us to put together (especially the Audio Reward), but you should expect them in the coming weeks.

The Gauntlet event is this Sunday, May 18th, starting at around 3pm PST. We've learned you will be able to watch the event live on Twitch.tv and take part in some truly awesome auctions during the event. We hope that you tune in and cheer us on through the chat and social media. Thanks again for donating and proving that Paizo has some of the best fans in the world!

Click here to donate and make sure to put "For Paizo" in the comment line so that your donation goes to our team!

Is it just me or does it look like the Shaman is turning into a Druid-Witch hybrid instead of a Oracle-Witch hybrid?

Well, there are certainly some Druid themes in the Shaman, but overall we moved the class closer to the oracle and witch. Of course, this does not matter as much as it used to due to... [[REDACTED]].

Well, I guess we will have to hit $3,500 to get that particular spoiler...

You guys are doing such a great job. Paizo is a worthy opponent and the kids are the real winners. With all of that said... You are all doing so good at holding second. Its just adorable :)

I almost hope the multiclass limiter is still in place, as in if you take a level of Swashbuckler you can't take Fighter or Gunslinger levels. Mostly because I feel that it makes it feel that there's a real trade off in choices, instead of the return of 3.5s single level dips.

Thanks, Omnus! You are right the kids are the real winners. As long as we raise a lot for charity, who cares who comes in first. See you this Sunday!

::waits a little bit...makes sure Omnus is gone, and speaks to the Paizo fans::

I'm glad Omnus is gone? The nerve. He comes into our house, and calls us adorable because we are coming in second.

Second!

When have we ever come in second?

Sure, we raised a lot of money. Sure the kids are already winning. Sure, Jason will likely get punched in the face. But now it's our pride on the line.

Personally, I've already put in $50.00...and I'm not asking anyone to put in more than they can afford, but every dollar helps. Every dollar will help us show those lead pushers who has the greatest gaming community in the world. Spread the word. Throw in a dollar, throw in five. I'm just one antipaladin asking you please...look into your hearts...help the children...

...and then help us bury our foes and spread their remains to the four corners of the internet until they are nothing but a rumor of a thing that dared stand up to our might!

But for the kids. Always for the kids.

The Caveman has been written and is going through its paces before we release it to all of you. Thanks again for donating!

That said... it is not over yet. I am starting to worry about the effects of this drive on Stephen's sanity. He seems a little more violent than usual...

So, please donate. I don't want to have to start medicating Stephen.

Paizo and Removed From Play have raised more money than the other 8 teams combined.

Methinks it should be Paizo vs RFP vs Everyone Else (on a single team). It's only fair that way.

We were! Maker's Mark. Sadly, the bottle didn't last long enough to get us through all 25 hours. .

Only one bottle? The Horror!

As far as updating the progress page, I believe we're trying to update that every couple of hours during the business day. At night, well...it's after business hours. Hopefully next year, we'll have a plan that automatically updates the progress page the same way that the total donations widget on the main page does.

What, you don’t work after business hours? Are you saying you actually have a life! :P

No, seriously. That sounds good. I also forgot the time difference between were you hang out and I hang out. That said automatically updates isn’t bad, it is probably good for business and for the children.
……

Marker’s mark? Is that any good? I just noticed that you can actually get it here in Sweden (in our government owned liquor stores).

Marker’s mark?

The only think that works for me is knocking myself out cold is using a large frozen fish. A special kind of dried fish you only can get in the northern part of Sweden. In fact you probably have to go to Norway to get that dried fish. Or even to Greenland. You do know that Greenland is anything but green and Iceland isn’t covered in Ice. The naming of those countries should have been reversed, but they got their names just to confuse the Vikings, the Americans, and the Gnomes.

Time to take my medicine!

We're playing a deeper game. You know how it's going to look when you lose the actual competition after having bought all those extra perks, right?

It's not like Paizo doesn't have a history for being the underdog and winning. I mean, Dungeons and Dragons used to be the #1 Table Top RPG before Pathfinder came along.

I'm just saying...

It is surprising how other game companies are climbing slower up the roster then Paizo and R.F.P., but then again we're being bribed to donate to charity. :)

Innocents? No. They are often weak and too easy prey. I like to leave a trail of evil men and women behind me. More of a challenge.

I'm a strange antipaladin in that regard.

RAFFLE UPDATE:
We have raised over $4,000 for Child’s Play! But we aren’t ready to call it just yet.

Stretch Goal $4,500: If we pass $4,500 by noon PST on Sunday the 18th…We will record a one shot episode of Removed From Play – Thunder Strike! With a custom intro featuring the winner of the Stormhammer Brigade! Additionally we will have the winner on as a host and Timothy Black aka Mercykiller providing background on the army, painting and moding tips. But wait… There is more…Veteran Khador Player Tom Hoffman (He has been playing Khador for nearly ten years) will join us for personal advice on building lists and tips for playing the army! One more thing… Susan will sing Thunderstruck by AC/DC!

This sounds like a Blast! Guess what? There. Is. More.

Stretch Goal $5,000: If we pass the 5k mark by sunday at noon PST… RFP will donate Butcher3 and the limited release Khador Terrain piece from the Collector’s set to the winner. Yep, you are right. Tim will run Butcher3 and the Terrain piece through the Stormhammerification machine that is his mind. Still more…The winner will get to customize Butcher3 with his preferences. Mohawk? How many tesla coils? Should Lola be double bladed? Tim will bring your vision of Stormhammer Butcher to LIFE!

And all you have to do is donate to Child’s Play through www.thegauntlet.me and add RFP as the team you are supporting! Forward the reciept to Raffle@removedfromplay.com and I will enter you in the raffle!

Stephen messaged me on Facebook and said the Pathfinder fans are the greatest fans anyone could ask for. Losing to RFP is one thing... Our fans are beyond amazing. But Bungie!? Come on. This was RFP and Paizo leading the pack.

What if RFP offered to host an episode via skype with anyone from Paizo willing to come on and one of thier fans? Think you guys could show some more love for Child's Play?
