I love you guys!
And it stacks with mindchemist, pure awesomeness.
I wonder why you didn't modify the spellbook as goblins don't write. I know that wrote somewhere that they could paint pictures, or just hide it, but if it's an archetype only for goblins, there should be something there.
The most awesome things are the feat names: like burn!^3, rocket bomb (is it like those jetpacks for the orks from Warhammer 40k?
also the description says they are not so good at creating other extracts, I can't see any difference in extracts between him and the usual alchemist.
Anyhow, I love goblins, I love alchemists, I love you Paizo (and whoever contributed this).

Man I love Goblins.
I really hope there is a boon someday to let us play one in PFS
Me too but make it a unique boon that only one person could win or maybe a single boon that is released once a year at any major con with 50+ tables.
Cant have too many goblins in the society. they eat people...sheesh!

Are there suggestions on how to deal with the goblin's hatred of books and the fact that alchemists must use them?
Or are they intended to be the exceptions?
I don't have my copy on me (and I dunno if it'll be mentioned I'm the ARG) but IIRC Goblins of Golarion has a system for alternative spellbooks that work pretty much as Black Powder Chocobo described.

"Burn! Burn! Burn!" is in Goblins of Golarion. It adds 1d4 extra fire damage when you use normal or alchemical non-splash fire damage. Also some bonuses to reflex saves to keep from being set on fire.

...if it's an archetype only for goblins...
Interestingly, I don't see anything in this archetype that says you have to be a goblin to take it, which I consider to be a good thing. I see no reason why an ifrit, for example, should be precluded from taking the fire bomber archetype.

Possibly, or possibly it's in a paragraph in the book's introduction that says that all archetypes are race only, so they don't have to say 'this archetype is only selectable by x' in every archetype

Also possible.
But the second paragraph of the blog post states that the fire bomber is a good thematic fit for a goblin, not that it is restricted to goblins. Compare to last week's preview of human feats, in which it was explicitly stated that those feat are only available to humans, and not just thematically appropriate for humans.
Though I guess we'll just have to wait for the ARG to know for sure.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A fire bomber treats torches as a simple weapon.
so they lose all weapon and armor prof?
As worded they aren't proficient even in simple weapons, and have no armor proficiency.
i think they need to add "in addition to normal proficiencies A fire bomber treats torches as a simple weapon."

As written it doesn't say it replaces anything ;)

archetype rules
Each alternate class feature presented in an archetype replaces a specific class feature from its parent class...
and
A character who takes an alternate class feature does not count as having the class feature that was replaced for the purposes of meeting any requirements or prerequisites.
they dont count as having the normal armor and weapon prof lines, so they dont get them as worded
Name Violation |
It modifies the normal proficiencies in the same way that the Bonus Feats archetype ability modifies discoveries without explicitly saying so.
Bonus Feats: A fire bomber can select the Burn! Burn! Burn!, Fire Tamer, or Flame Heart feat in place of a discovery.
that is a new class feature. alchemists dont have "bonus feats" as a normal class feature, and says they CAN do something inplace of a discovery

...
You just pointed out as the basis of your argument that each ability in an archetype replaces something.
And now you're saying that Bonus Feats is an added class feature, which according to your reasoning 2 posts ago is impossible since it's not replacing anything.
:D This is silly. :D
I'm just saying its wording like this that comes back and has people complaining (look at sohei with the same arguments)
I'm just pointing out RAW loopholes hoping they get fixed

Call me odd (and I expect people will) but I think the goblin love has gone a bit over the top. Yeah they are fun but a whole section of the book that could have been given to options for a core race? No thanks.
I don't need extra stuff for goblins beyond what I could give them with levels and I have already banned Goblin PC's at my table. Basically this is a severe case of villain decay. Goblins are becoming far too loveable, this stuff is more of that.

J-Spee Lovecraft wrote:Does Burn! Burn! Burn! work with bombs? It works on Mundane and Alchemical sources of fire. Bombs are Alchemical.
Were that true, I wonder what that means for Swift Alchemy and (for example) mutagen. I remember a lengthy discussion that ended with people concluding (well, at least me being convinced) that mutagens were affected by that, which would mean Burn! Burn! Burn! wouldn't work with bombs either.

There is already a pretty large chunk of this book dedicated to the core races. I believe it is something like 15 pages or so per race. Between that and the Races of Golarion books that should provide plenty of material. IIRC goblins will only get six pages in this book.

It's Pathfinder. Goblins are their mascot, FFS. Let us have our fun.
/goblin gunslingers FTW

The core races got 10 pages and lot more from other books, it's about time the other races, particularly the strange ones, got some love.
They are core races for a reason. I don't want each party I see to be a walking freakshow of cat people, tengu, goblins and wayang.
By all means have your fun. You are all entitled to that. I just see this as villain decay. IMO the evil nasty nature of Goblins has been lost with all this. Goblins are now loveable Jerry Lewis caricatures and that is a mistake.
Just my opinion. I'm still buying the book :).
