In ages past the forces of Mitra let by the Paladin Markadian marched his armies to battle against the foul Asmodians and their champion King Jaraad of Barca. It seemed that Goodness would once again defeat a great evil and bring prosperity to the land. Such was not to be for with an act of dishonor Markadian was slain and his armies fell in battle. Since then Talingarde has lived under the iron grip of the Barcan regime and the church of Asmodeus. Now the forces of light must rise again and this time bring an end to the evil that rules Talingarde. To save Talongarde, great heroes must be born. Will you be among them?

Ok the 3 doors to the west are all locked. The door to the East is not locked and looks more used than the ones to the west. You see no traps as far as you can tell, probably they would not trap locks in this place anyway.

Libris keep his mouth shut this time. He will accept their decision, but he will get at Blackerly, one way or the other

So not the armory then?

Shadow Lodge

The Courtyard door is not locked actually. Looks like as it is a main through-way for the guards they don't need to have it locked. It does look like the door can lock and there is a place for the door to be barred but currently it is unlocked, although closed.

Are you opening the door?

Noticing the door isn't locked, Sedelion puts away his kit.

"Does anyone have any overwhelming need to go to this place's armory before make a break for the warden's tower? I doubt we will have another chance to do so without fighting the entire cohort of guards left inside... assuming they don't just lock and bolt this to prevent our return."

I will wait until Libris, Ash, Bron, and Randu have indicated what they want. My assumption is that Abbo and the Hound will both be for leaving, though feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Sedelion shrugs. "I agree with Bron. Somehow I doubt they would have much different than what we have found to date, but it is possible. If nothing else they might have bags so that we can carry some of what he have found easier."

So saying, he goes to the door which the unconscious guard indicated led to the armory.

"Still, we had best be quick and as careful as possible. No telling what is in between here and there. Give me a minute with these locks and we should have our way open. Ash, I think you still had the key to the torturer's living quarters did you not? You might have a moment while I pick these to investigate them on the off chance there is something more suited to your dueling preferences."

Disable Device: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 9 + 2 = 27 (Unlocking the door to the armory.)

Shadow Lodge

While the Armory door has a decent lock, Sedelion with his skill is able to pick it. Opening the door on the inside you see a room full of different sorts of weaponry and armor. Most of it looks like standard guardsman gear but others look to be items that were probably confiscated from convicts when they were brought to the prison.

Inside are six spare sets of gear for guards: chain shirt, heavy steel shield, long sword and longbow. There is also a rack holding a dozen more leather-wrapped clubs. Further, there is also a stock pile of 240 arrows in twelve quivers. These items (save for the arrows and the clubs) bear the mark of Talongarde somewhere on them.

As for the non-guarsman gear you find a dagger, a heavy mace, short spear, longspear, quarterstaff, battle axe, rapier, great sword, great axe, trident and a glaive.

The Hound looks at the weapons and then eyes the Greatsword. He moves over to the pile where it is and picks it up and takes a few swings with it. "Of human design but still well balanced for my needs."

"Nothing elven... typical I suppose... still, worth the opening."

Looking over the stash, Sedelion eyes the six armor sets.

"Six sets here. Six guards at the card game, counting the scoundrel Sergeant. Perhaps they are not as well armed as we have been assuming... which, thinking about it, would make sense given they are not on duty."

His eyes finally rest on the rapier. "If no one objects, I will take the rapier... it is a bit more suitable to my reflexes than the normal long sword the guards use. That said, I will defer to you, Ash, if you could use it better than I."

If Ash or anyone else does not object, he will take the rapier.

Ash chuckles at Sedelion's offer. "I appreciate the offer, but the rapier will do far more in your hands than mine." Picking up the shortspear and the heavy mace, he smiles. "These are more within my range of ability. Now, if only I could find a crossbow, then perhaps I could support those on the front line a bit more."

Ash quickly searches to see if they missed anything else in the armory before preparing to depart. As he does, he glances back to Sedelion. "I doubt the other guards are unarmed and unarmored. While the number does match correctly, these are likely back up sets."

Heading out into the courtyard you see the rounded path around a central fountain that leads up to the inner gate of the outer walls of the prison. The fountain is plain but functional and is probably is a primary source of water for the prison itself. To the left there are door that leads into probably some other sections of the outer walls. A dirt path seems to surround the inner keep leading to the right and left and grass grows on the ground of the inner keep. Looking up from here you can see that the largest tower peaks over the top of the main inner keep, to the south and is probably where the Warden resides. Fortunately there are no guards currently watching the courtyard. Unfortunately to the eastern side of the door is a kennel where three hunting hounds reside. They sniff the air and then take notice of you and then start barking violently in your direction and battering themselves against the cages. How do you react to this?
