Jacobs is a Slacker

Friday, August 20, 2010

Today's blog was supposed to be from James Jacobs, something to do with a map for Smuggler's Shiv. Unfortunately, Mr. Jacobs has allowed himself to be trapped in meetings all day, and was unable to get us the required information. Since we all understand that flagrantly placing the good of the company over the needs of the messageboards is flatly unacceptable, Mr. Jacobs has been placed on temporary suspension to think about what he's done. As such, I'd like to introduce his replacement.

I hope you'll all join me in welcoming Tom Rex to the staff. Tom's been angling for Mr. Jacobs' job for years, and though his editing skills are understandably a bit out of date, he's shown a remarkable level of enthusiasm and can-do spirit. A former newspaperman, Tom is already adjusting to his new role, and his trademark catchphrase—"What's the scoop, chief?"—will surely never get old. Welcome, Tom!

A blank, spoiler-free map of Smugglers Shiv please, suitable to be used as the simple map outling the island's general shape and size, found in Captain Kovack's cabin. Get to it Tom ;)

What they're not telling you, is that Jacobs wasn't really put on suspension. In reality, he had been replaced by a clever robotic duplicate built by super-intelligent penguins whose secret city lies under the ice in Antarcitca. The ruse was discovered after a clever intern got suspicious because Jacobs suddenly changed his diet to eating fish every day, for every meal.

Even now, a well trained army of Paizo ninja pirates is scouring the globe for clues to Jacobs real location. They have to rescue him before he's used by our future Aquatic Avian Overlords to enact their fiendish plan for world domination.

So the cats taking over the world was a red herring?

Yes! I, too, submit myself to their rightful claim to our world!

Now, someone do something about that Shiv map! I need it by next Sunday. Chop! Chop!

Oh, and welcome Tom!

Dang penguins! Always causing trouble. Well, I'll just have to send in a special forces squad to retrieve Jacobs.

What was the image?

At the moment, it's a full-figure portrait of Tom Rex in all his (naked) glory.

Must be so dirty Firefox censored it. Or, censored in Canada?

Works fine in Safari on my Ipod.

I'm a big fan of Mr. Rex's previous work and I find those vicious comments about his eating problem (eating interns that is) very insulting and false.

Welcome aboard Mr. Rex!

Ouch...James Sutter calling Jacobs a slacker

...when Jacobs and Christopher Carey were saying the same thing about the indolent peanut butter loving Sutter not that long ago...

What does Mr. T think about the whole torosaurus/triceratops debacle?

It's because Firefox wants to keep the image all to itself.

That they were both very tasty back in the day. Now he has to settle for interns, and they're like potato chips. Very tasty, but not terribly filling.

The image is broken for me. I get the same results in Chrome, Firefox, and IE. I get directed to a page that says:

Another dino, huh? There sure do seem to be a lot on these boards...

I've had something to that effect taped to my monitor for the last 7 years or so, actually. Having the CR appropriate table handy in that way is more or less a requirement when you're developing adventures as your day job.

Still cool! I wish I had an excuse to do the same!

[envious] Welcome, Tom! [/envious]

(Asmodeus damn you, Sutter -- you swore you'd post my pictures if Jacobs missed his deadline again! Who's this Tom? Is he supposed to be more cool than a naked, dancing fiendish dwarf?!?)

Okay, so we've all had our good laugh together. Now, where's the map?
