Miss Sorbet, Chain of Aster
|
Lore: Pathfinder Society: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Same stipulation.
phaeton_nz
|
Peter - Failure, Ms Sorbet - Failure, Zac - Failure, Folmyr - Crit Success
Let's see what Evervan gets
Erevan Dalanthan.
|
PFS Lore: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13 Darn it! The dice are not friendly this time. I'm out of HP.
phaeton_nz
|
I believe you still have that Edge Point.
Peter Plus-Haut
|
If we need 3/5, the Edge Point won't help, because with the CF, we only have 1/5 right now. An Edge Point would only get us to 2/5.
Peter Plus-Haut
|
So ... like ... if we use the Edge Point, do we overall Succeed, or just one of us Succeeds?
phaeton_nz
|
The edge point will cancel out that crit failure, so you'll fail the obstacle over all but it won't be so bad
Miss Sorbet, Chain of Aster
|
Yes, use the Edge Point.
phaeton_nz
|
With the use of the Edge Point, you pass that obstacle without problems. The next one is the library puzzle door. While it’s not magical, the puzzle door Varian uses to block entrance to his library is based on several magical principles he discovered during his research.
Yo require a group success and to overcome it's a hard Arcana, Academia Lore, or Pathfinder Society Lore, or a very hard Crafting or Thievery
Peter Plus-Haut
|
Pathfinder Society Lore: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Erevan Dalanthan.
|
Erevan wipes his eyepiece and inspects the puzzle door.
Crafting: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24
Miss Sorbet, Chain of Aster
|
Miss Sorbet helps Erevan with the puzzle.
Crafting, Aid: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Critical, +2 to Erevan's check.
phaeton_nz
|
You have the one success you need which means you make your way into the library, giving you access to much of the house. You also find a collection of Count Jeggare’s favorite magical blades, including a rather plain-looking shortsword in a place of honor among the ornate collection.
As you make your way through the house, you have to dodge the patrolling imps that roam the hallways. To avoid them, you need a standard Arcana,
Stealth, or Survival check.
Peter Plus-Haut
|
Society: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 vs DC 24
Survival: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 vs Standard DC
Miss Sorbet, Chain of Aster
|
Society: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
"Oh... oh my. This can't be, can it? Someone else, take a look at this. Actually, everyone take a look at this! If I am not mistaken, this is a blade forged by Aroden himself!"
The poppet seems unusually flustered. Being able to see mythical craftwork is a transcendent experience for her.
On a crit, do I know anything about what it does?
Arcana: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
"No sword for you!"
Folmyr Engwyn
|
Society: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
"A big sword is a big sword. Unless it does something special, it is just a big sword"
Well, a medium-sized short sword is roughly twice as tall as Folmyr.
phaeton_nz
|
Hearing a noise, the imp zips off to get reinforcements. Meanwhile you have managed to find the map room and hide in there.
Countess Jeggare’s portrait in the library hides a map room that has thus far remained undiscovered by the dottari. Every wall and surface in this small room is covered in maps and scrolls that have several locations circled and notated. Each entry uses colloquial phrasing that seems innocuous to all but Pathfinders accustomed to the methods the Pathfinder Society uses to hide sensitive information.
The map room also houses a few items mentioned in the brief: Varian Jeggare’s wayfinder, an old Arodenite religious text the count was translating called The Walker’s Path, and an ornate scroll bound with a single-word note in Varian’s hand: Dralneen.
Peter Plus-Haut
|
Peter will grab those items and stow them. They're part of the mission to retrieve them.
Miss Sorbet, Chain of Aster
|
Any reason the sword needs to stay here?
phaeton_nz
|
Only if you want the Chelaxians to get hold of it
Folmyr Engwyn
|
Folmyr will take the sword, swing it around a few times, and stow it on their back. "I'll take the sword. If I use it, maybe we'll figure out if it is special."
Miss Sorbet, Chain of Aster
|
"Maybe? MAYBE‽" Miss Sorbet's interrobang is clearly audible. Half a meter of stuffed should not be able to loom, even over a sprite, but she is managing it. "That blade is more special than any of us and anything else we will ever have the privilege of laying our hands on, and you'll MAYBE figure out if it's special?!?!"
Folmyr now knows what an apoplectic poppet looks like. Specifically, like the filling will burst out of her head at any moment.
Folmyr Engwyn
|
Enraged that a 'toy' should yell at them, Folmyr grows from shorter than Miss Sorbet to over 12 feet tall and shouts, "Yes, I said maybe! Put your stuffing back in before I put it in for you."
Peter Plus-Haut
|
Deception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29
"Whoa, whoa! What's going on here? And how did you get so big? Wow, you look like you could bench press all of us! And you, Miss Sorbet, have I mentioned how cool all those gizmos look on your armor?"
Miss Sorbet, Chain of Aster
|
"Well, it's not like Aroden made them, but..."
The poppet turns a slightly pinker shade, though you think it is from embarrassment rather than rage.
phaeton_nz
|
You can all hear the sounds of imps scrabbling against the other side of the walls, attracted by the noise.
Peter Plus-Haut
|
Peter has castings of Illusory Object and Illusory Creature that we can use as distractions if things get bad. I'm not sure where we go from here, there's no map.
phaeton_nz
|
I should be sorting that out soon.
phaeton_nz

You make your way out of map room and start crossing the ballroom. Unfortunately you are noticed by a patrol who wear the regalia of the Order of the Rack. The ballroom is a large t-shaped room with polished granite floors and wooden pillars every ten feet. A small 10-foot fountain is surrounded by stairs leading up to a small stage on the north wall, and wide, shallow stairs lead to an antechamber south of the ballroom. The 12-foot tall walls are plaster and covered in tapestries depicting various operas that have been popular in Cheliax over the last century.
You want to cross the ballroom from west to east, following the arrows.
Initiatives:
Everan: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Folmyr: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
Peter: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Miss Sorbet: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Zac: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
armiger: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
armour: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Everyone but Miss Sorbet are up first.
Peter Plus-Haut

Peter sings a Courageous Anthem and Lingers it.
Performance: 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 13 + 1 = 32 vs DC 21
4 rounds
"Hey ... yo ... chill ..."
Peter casts Calm (3rd). DC 21 Will save, and it does have Incapacitation, so if they're 7th level or higher, they get one degree of success better.
◆ Courageous Anthem
◇ Lingering Composition (Critical Success)
◆◆ Calm (3rd)
Party: please note that if a creature Fails the save, attacking them will release them from the spell. So don't attack anyone who Fails!
Erevan Dalanthan.
|
I think Erevan would act earlier than Peter, so let's try to obstruct their way of thinking.
Erevan moves forward and quickly creates a concoction filled with murky purple gas. He throws the vial at the nearest hostile creature.
Dread Ampoule: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 12 + 1 = 28
Mental Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1) + 1 = 4 +2 Mental Splash Damage and creature becomes frightened 1 on hit, 2 on a crit.
◈Stride, ◈Quick Alchemy, ◈Strike. Versatile Vials: 5/6
Folmyr Engwyn
|
Finally seeing something to take out their agressions on, Folmyr begins raging.
◆ Folmyr becomes Large
◆ Folmyr strides forward
◆ "Don't stand in our way!"
Intimidation vs the one Folmyr is looming over: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 11 + 1 = 13
phaeton_nz
|
| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
It is quickly apparent that, if there is anything inside that Hellknight armour, it is immune to mental damage and intimidation.
will(armiger): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Zac still to go.
Erevan Dalanthan.
|
it is immune to mental damage and intimidation
"What the ... My precious vials! Wasted!"
Zac Freelan 3
|
Sorry about that, move foward, attack fairy creature with hand adze. Move, attack, attack
Hand Adze: +14 to hit. Agile, Forceful, Sweep. 2d4+4 dmg.
hit: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31 dmg: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 2) + 4 = 8 hit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 dmg: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 4) + 4 = 9
phaeton_nz
|
Fairy creature? That's Folmyr. I'm redirecting that to the Hellknight armour.
CLANG! CLANG! The first hit is a crit which negates the Hardness. The second hit does more damage ((AA: -17))
The armiger growls, even though he's looking chill. Lousy piece of junk. Do I have to do this myself? SMITE THEM!
He spends the rest of his actions pulling out a pipe, stuffing it with tobacco and lighting it.
Miss Sorbet is up before whatever is in the Hellknight armour.
Miss Sorbet, Chain of Aster
|
"Junk indeed. Allow me to show you how it's done."
◆ Stride
◆ Step
◆ Strike
+1 Halberd: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Piercing Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
"Perhaps there may be some useful scrap here, once we are done with it."
phaeton_nz
|
And Miss Sorbet causes the Hellknight armour to collapse revealing .... nothing inside.
Everyone else is up.
Miss Sorbet, Chain of Aster
|
"Huh. I hope you have a warranty on this."
Peter Plus-Haut
|
The armiger can't attack us because he failed the Will save vs Calm. Can we call this, since we can just tie him up? If not, then I suggest we take a turn to just surround him before launching a flurry of attacks.
Folmyr Engwyn
|
Folmyr will use the 'special' sword, which is now about 15 feet long.
Strike: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27
My regular bastard sword does 2d12+4+6 (Striking + STR + Rage)
If the 'special' sword doesn't appear so special, then use an action to swap to my bastard sword
Strike: 1d20 + 15 - 5 ⇒ (13) + 15 - 5 = 23
Else, if the special sword is really special, then...Strike: 1d20 + 15 - 10 ⇒ (8) + 15 - 10 = 13
phaeton_nz
|
The armeger was puffing on his pipe.
I should be killing you lot but ... don't really feel like it at the moment ... I'll just finish my pipe then .... HEY! as both Folmyr and Zac attack and hit.
Humanity's Blade is a short sword and the module does not give it any stats. You're probably better off with your regular sword
Folmyr Engwyn
|
Damage from first strike with Humanity's Blade: 1d6 + 4 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 6 = 13
"Hey! This sword isn't special!"
Damage from second strike with greatsword: 2d12 + 4 + 6 ⇒ (11, 12) + 4 + 6 = 33
